Birth place: Eshan
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 128 lbs
Eye Color: Icy blue
Hair Color: Silver

Lana stands at a rather typical height for an Echani woman, not tall, but not tiny either. She has a slim, almost dancer-like build, with slim arms and legs. Like most Echani, she has light eyes, hers being a piercing icy blue. Along with her eyes, she has inherited several other common Echani traits. Lana’s hair is a silvery white, and exists in straight locks that travel halfway down to her shoulders. However, this hair is usually kept in a neat bun or ponytail to avoid obstruction of vision. She is not without the distinctive Padawan braid, which often rests on her right shoulder or back in a ponytail. The padawan’s skin is a pale white, with no visible blemishes besides a small “U” shaped birthmark on her left thigh.
Lana is very fit, due to constant missions, healthy diet, and a daily exercise regimen. This being said, she doesn’t have large or bulky muscles, her legs and arms being lean and lightly muscled. Her white stomach is flat, fitting proportionally with the rest of her body. She has medium sized breasts, average for her species and most near-humans in general.
She can usually be seen with an indifferent expression on her face, whilst in deep concentration, or simply studying a particular work or text. However, Lana will laugh and smile often.
Most of the time, Lana will wear her Jedi robes, although other clothing is in her possession. She particularly dislikes the notion of uniformity, as she feels it erodes on the Jedi’s uniqueness in the force. When sleeping, Lana prefers to rest in a comfortable body glove.
Personality:
Lana’s personality is complex and greatly affected by her past. To any given person, she will appear as being cool, polite, diplomatic, assertive, and knowledgeable. In fact, she is very studious and intelligent, as well as proper and well-mannered. However, she does possess some serious emotional gaps, particularly about her late master, who was killed on a mission to Rodia. She is not depressed, but deeply saddened by any mention of her former master, Rodia, or the fateful mission.
Despite these insecurities, Lana has proven that she can solve problems and accomplish many tasks thought impossible for someone of her age and ability. Once presented with a problem, she will consider the issue, allocate all necessary resources, and then proceed to meet said issue. During her Youngling and Padawan years, she was always a little confident of her abilities, although not to the point of arrogance. This feeling of confidence was all but eradicated when her master was killed. She has begun to recover, but many of her instructors feel that these wounds may lead her back to the dangerous road of the Dark Side.
Lana finds it easy to meet people and make friends, especially among her classmates and fellow Jedi. She is especially well-liked among the more academic of the padawan’s, since they will often discuss a variety of subjects, from Jedi History, to Correllian Politics. The more physical based duelists and Guardian hopefuls find her likeable, yet a bit boring, choosing to dwell on “Why?” instead of “how?” or “when?”
She tends to study and practice quite excessively, preferring to memorize or perfect a recitation or technique before moving on, and incomplete activities irritate her. She strongly dislikes incompetence and laziness, which frightens some of the more inquisitive masters, as this is a trait of the dark side. Lana is nearly obsessed with what others think of her, especially those which she is close to.
Generally, Lana will remain loyal, faithful, and committed to the causes she believes in or the people she confides in, only rarely deviating from this doctrine. If she feels it is logical and beneficial to herself and the galaxy, she will cut ties with either people or causes.

Pre-Discovery
Lana Kindari was born on a stormy black night inside the Stiandre Medical Center on Eshan in 3619 BBY. Her mother, a poor waitress, died during the birth. Her father, whom she never met, was an Echani mercenary who had returned home to visit for a while, when he met Lana’s mother. The two courted for a while, dating and slowly, but inevitably falling into a deep love.
It wouldn’t last.
Shortly after the couple’s one year anniversary neared, Lana’s father was called to fight in a war in the outer rim, and left swiftly, albeit very emotionally. He planned to return to Zana (Lana’s Mother), yet he was slain on some far-away world of meager importance.
Soon, Zana found out that she was carrying a fetus, and would eventually give birth to a perfectly healthy baby Echani girl.
The day eventually came, and at 3:07 in the morning Lana entered the Galaxy. However, for every action there is a reaction, and once Lana entered the world, her mother exited, but not before naming and kissing her beautiful baby.
Zana’s parents, Lana's grandparents, were very close to their daughter, and agreed to take Lana and raise her as if she were their own. They were present at her birth, and took their granddaughter to live with them on their rural homestead. There Lana was given all the love and adoration that an infant should receive. However, when the girl was only about 1 year old, a watchman discovered her presence and connection with the force. She wasn’t the strongest, nor the weakest force the Zabrak Watchman had ever detected, but somewhere in the middle.
Her grandparents reluctantly agreed to relinquish the child to the Jedi Order after her second birthday. The day came swiftly, almost overnight as it would seem. A Jedi Master was sent to retrieve the infant, and Lana’s caretakers bade a very emotional, almost hysterical farewell. Young Lana would never remember the sobs of her adoptive parents.
Once the child was brought to the Temple on Coruscant, she was placed into the care of the nursery, where she was taught the basic fundamentals of life. Once she showed signs of true, active thought and progression at age 4, Lana was enrolled into youngling classes.
Youngling
As a youngling, Lana made many friends, and a few close ones, namely the Nautolan Zaquel Yist. Zaquel was, similar to her, not the best saber combatant, and much more suited to force manipulation and the classroom. Zaquel and Lana, being skilled in similar ways, soon developed a strong friendship and trust in one another. The two would often spend long hours together sparring or quizzing one another.
Although eventually she would grow to be very well liked and trusted, Lana was picked on by the other younglings for her general smallness and weak muscles compared to some of the larger species. She soon developed quite the retaliatory attitude when confronted with this issue, often insulting the other kids back, until the whole thing evolved into a name-calling, he-said-she-said ordeal. The masters would have to break them up, and many took note of this as a possible sign of dangerous passion in the future. However, this phase didn’t last long, and the other children eventually learned to respect all sentients, tall or not.
Due to her gift of the force and practical studies, Lana found it difficult, at first, to wield a lightsaber. However, through complete force of will, she began developing a knack for Shii-Cho, and once she had the basics down, her performance soared. Despite this new revelation, Lana was probably an average duelist, still favoring the use of the force. In this field, she simply ruled. She was among the top 10% in the class, being able to pick up and hurl objects far easier than most of the children and having an even stronger affinity for senses and telepathic abilities such as force persuasion.
This sudden success sparked a general rivalry between the petite ten year old Echani and the 11 year old Zaquel, competing in everything they learned. The two would often defy their instructor’s wishes by staying up late into the night studying or silently practicing Form I in their quarters.
Two years of this friendly rivalry ensued, Zaquel eventually academically surpassing Lana (much to her annoyance), but Lana eventually becoming the better force-user and duelist. The two would still enjoy sparring and talking, until Zaquel was taken as a Padawan by an archaeologist. From that point, the two slowly grew apart, with the Nautolan always being on some ancient digsite far away from Coruscant.
However, her sadness at the effective loss of a friend was kept at bay whenever she was informed that she was being observed by several prospective masters. These masters where impressed not only at her abilities in the force, but her determination and willpower.
She was eventually chosen by a male Twi’Lek Master, Gerva’Ranu, who had already trained one padawan. He would prove to be a very wise and caring, yet demanding and expectant master. He was also a sentinel, something that would come to influence Lana to this day, seeking balance in the force.
Padawan Years and Tutelage
Master Gervar, as Lana would know him, was a kind and intelligent teacher, but wasn’t one to allow for imperfection or “almost.” This factor would cost Lana countless hours of Shii-Cho practice, recitations, and meditation. Despite this, the two were similar in personality and Lana found it easy to look up to her master and cherish his teachings, and thus they became friends.
Being the overachiever that she was, Lana was intent on absorbing as much Shii-Cho as possible in a short amount of time. This was made difficult by Gervar’s demand that she learn Soresu. She would spar and practice with anyone willing, in a ferocious drive to master Form 1. Gervar would often suggest that she branch out into other forms, but Lana refused just as often, wishing to master Shii-Cho and be done with it. However, between her sparring, Gervar’s long lectures, and her lengthy meditative trances, Lana somehow found time to practice Soresu, doing her best to please her master.
Gervar would often gives lectures and lessons about emotion, the dark side, patience, and other subjects that he felt were most important. The Twi’lek master was sure to hit on emotion, trying his absolute best to teach Lana the value of kindness and love over passion and anger. He would also give lessons on language, the arts, and sciences.
Her force training did not go untouched, no far from it. Gervar would often demand that his young padawan lift up heavy objects to a certain point, or hurl them a certain distance. This being said, he was aware of the Echani Padawan’s knack for telepathic abilities, as well as her sharpened force senses. This would often lead the pair out into a crowd, Gervar instructing her to find a specific person, and leaving her only her force abilities as tools.
At first, this was impossible for her, the overwhelming amount of life would give her headaches, much less the ability to pick out a member of a crowd. However, Lana would become determined, and begin to handle the information in small bits.
The first time that she was successful was on a mid-evening attempt. Gervar had just left, and as always before, Lana was struggling to locate her target. This time, her objective was to find a Bothan petty thief, who was stealing change out of people’s pockets.
Eventually, the 13-year old girl would learn not to peer at the force all at once, but to slowly observe a small bit, then a bit more. She thought of it like a window. Rather than fling it open, she would inch it open to see a small bit at a time.
Apparently, this method was all she needed, for soon after opening herself to the force like this she detected a nervous, excited presence among the sea of boring and busy commuters that surrounded her. Using this lead, she found the small, fury thief and with the help of a nearby police officer, she captured the criminal. Gervar was pleasantly surprised whenever his padawan approached him with the prisoner in binders and the officer in tow. It goes without saying that her master was very pleased. This isn’t to say that he would at all let up on his padawan. After this victory, Lana would be tasked with even more complex sense related tests and assignments.
Not long after her excellence in force sense was awakened, Gervar began to take her along on missions; however most of them were diplomatic or otherwise generally passive. These missions were eye-opening to the now 14-year old apprentice. She had never really observed or explored the galaxy outside of Coruscant.
It was on a particular mission to Sullust where Lana began to really prove herself. In fact, the mission was destined to go wrong from the start. Originally, they were supposed to work out a dispute between a Sullustan Labor Union and The local Czerka Department. Apparently, Czerka had refused to pay the mechanics and technicians who were members of the Union, and the Sullustans revolted which had left three dead and a dozen wounded on both sides.
The Jedi duo landed on the planet at a pre-determined location. Both parties sent a team of negotiators who tried to come to terms with each other, and the Jedi mediated (rather unsuccessfully). It wasn’t their fault really, Gervar was just as good a diplomat as the next Jedi, and Lana wasn’t poorly skilled in the matter, the two parties were just completely unwilling to come to an agreement.
No one knows who hit first, but the Union and Corporate forces soon clashed, and the two diplomats were caught in the cross fire. Gervar hollered over to his padawan to find cover. Lana complied, and hid under and upturned speeder. The conflict eventually devolved into hand-to-hand combat, in which things got very ugly.
After some minutes of fighting a group of Sullustans approached the young padawan, and being filled with the spirit of battle, proceeded to attack her. Using her small mastery of the force and a pipe, she held them off for a few seconds. However, she was soon overpowered by the assailants and cornered, despite her numerous appliances of the force to push them away. It would seem that her intense training was all for vain, and feeling defeated, Lana prepared for the worst.
Fortunately, Gervar had escaped his situation, and noticed his Padawan’s distress. He quickly found her and her attackers. Just before they could lay their hands on her, the Twi’lek Master had ignited his lightsaber, and had leaped in between the Sullustans and his padawan learner. They quickly backed off, and soon the conflict subsided as eyes travelled to the elegant, orange blade that was Gervar’s lightsaber.
This experience revealed to Gervar that he had made a critical error in his apprentice’s training. Although she was more than ready, he had neglected to bring his apprentice to Ilum or Dantooine to construct a lightsaber. This had caused irritation on her part, and she had asked her master thrice about the possibility of the action, only to hear him say “when the time is right my young apprentice.”
Well, the time was right.
A fortnight after the Sullust Disaster, Lana Kindari walked slowly through the huge caverns of Ilum, surrounded by thousands of beautiful color crystals. There was no sound but the occasional drip-drop of the stalagmites. Gervar was patiently waiting outside the cave.
Lana was nervous. She was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to find the right crystal, and that her master wouldn’t be pleased, or that maybe she would be wrong about her choice. The Echani cleared her mind in an instant.
Focus she told herself. Lana closed her eyes and reached into the force listening, no, sensing for a suitable crystal. She stayed in that spot for a time, meditating on the slight pull that she felt to her left. Soon, this faint inkling grew into a distinct pull towards a concentration of blue crystals. They existed in dozens of shades and hues, from navy to silvery blue.
It took a few minutes for Lana to grasp what crystal the force was pointing to. Once the pull became strongest, Lana opened her eyes to find a gorgeous cyan crystal lying in front of her. She retrieved the crystal with minimal difficulty, cutting her finger on its sharp edge.
The next month of her life was spent meditating on the cyan beauty. She concentrated on becoming one with the crystal, to bond with it. These long periods were only stopped by the occasional rest for food or drink.
After the crystal and she had been bonded, she began to construct her lightsaber. To the logical padawan, a sleek and plain sliver hilt was more than sufficient. This however, turned out to be far more beautiful than any decoration could be. Although it was black and silver with no ornaments, the hilt had a certain grace to it. Once the work was completed, Lana emerged from her chambers smiling widely. Gervar had sensed her eagerness at the completion of the blade, and had proceeded to wait outside of her door.
Once they made eye contact, Gervar knew what would come next. The duo spent the next hour sparring, both using Soresu, to “break in” the beautiful cyan blade. It was absolutely perfect, and unsurprisingly, Lana was proud of her accomplishment, and at the fact that she FINALLY had the distinguishing feature of all Jedi. She would come to learn that lightsaber was no weapon, nor tool, but a symbol of the force.
Tragedy at Rodia
This milestone on her path in the way of the Jedi came just after the girl’s fifteenth birthday. No gift would be as fitting. In fact, the saber was completed at just the right time. With the completion of the light saber, Gervar saw it fit to start taking a more active role in the Order, and began taking more missions, many of them dangerous.
This went on for a year, the Padawan diligently growing in skill and maturity. During this time, she learned how to pilot shuttles and small freighters to a very basic degree, only enough knowledge to effectively travel from point a to point b as well as other basics of interplanetary flight. This was accomplished by lessons from Gervar (who's own knowledge was limited in the matter) and more detailed instruction from various pilots that the Jedi duo found their selves in the company of. After countless rescues, adventures, and escapades, Gervar was assigned to a clan dispute on Rodia, and saw it fitting to bring Lana along.
Upon their arrival on Rodia, the Jedi investigated the opposing clans. Their investigations of weapons trading spice dealing, and murder came out clean for both of the factions, but something was strange about Clan Chatza.
The master-padawan duo combined their force sense abilities to peer into the Clan. As it turned out, the Clan’s heir was a force sensitive, and a trained one at that. It was Lana who discovered the presence of the force-sensitive, but it was Gervar who discovered his aura. From what they understood, the heir was influencing his uncle, the clan’s old senile leader, into conflict with the other clan.
Lana was a bit nervous, because this was her first real interaction with a non-Jedi force-sensitive. She was worried that the Rodian force-user would be hostile, and wish to fight. She was more than right.
The pair confronted the heir in his office, where he revealed to them that he was, in fact, a Dark Jedi. The Rodian explained to them that they would have to die, since his secret needed to remain just that, a secret. The Dark Jedi ignited his crimson blade and attacked Gervar, who barely had enough time to parry the strike and get into Soresu form. A split-second later, Lana readied herself for combat by igniting her lightsaber.
Gervar was a good swordsman, but the Rodian was far more advanced. Soon, Jedi had both began exchanging blows with the heir, with the fight swaying back and forth, down stairs, up stairs, and all around the room. Eventually, Gervar was backed into a corner; with the Dark Jedi forcing a relentless barrage of slashes and strikes on the aging Twi’lek. Only a strong force push by Lana saved the master, and sent the Rodian backpedaling. Lana used this as an opportunity to attack the Dark Jedi, very nearly disarming him. It was all for vain however, for the dark one soon recovered and shot a bolt of lightning toward the padawan.
Pain. Mind numbing pain was the only thing she felt as coils of electricity arced through her body. Just before she fainted, the apprentice saw her master engaging the Rodian from behind. When she came to, her master was kneeled before his opponent, with an emotionless look on his face. He had been disarmed, and the Rodian was speaking.
“Your last memory will be of your master’s head rolling on the floor!” the Rodian mockingly exclaimed as he decapitated her master.
“NO!” the cry came from her lips as her master rejoined the force.
As rage filled her body and mind, the young apprentice retrieved her master’s lightsaber with the force, unable to retrieve her own. She lunged toward, with the enormous power of anger and hate propelling her forward at unbelievable speed. The target was caught by surprise as Gervar’s orange lightsaber burned through his green skin and fried his wretched heart.
She returned to her master’s body and placed a homing beacon near it. The Jedi would find him and give him a proper funeral. She then found her own lightsaber and robe, and fled the scene. Lana couldn’t return to the Jedi, not in this condition. She was ashamed, yet impressed and intrigued with the raw power of anger, rage, and hate. But most of all, she was filled with grief and sadness for her late master.
At this point, she briefly fell to the dark side, drunk with the absolute power it brought to her fingertips, and blinded by the death of the closest thing to a family she had. She stowed away aboard a freighter bound for nowhere.
Soon, the Padawan found herself on Manaan, at Ahto City. There, the force led her to a Selkath former Jedi who had left the order decades earlier. She would come to know him as Dreshae. Dreshae had once been a Knight Consular, and sensed the fledgling dark inside the young Lana. Soon, the she would come to tell the old Jedi her entire story. At this point, she was so confused and angry that she didn’t know what to think of the light and the dark.
Redemption & Return to the Light
He invited her to stay with him for a few months, during which Dreshae taught her many things about both the light and the dark sides of the force. The aged Selkath soon convinced Lana that the Dark Side was actually evil, and it would only lead to suffering and corruption. He revealed that he had fallen to the Dark Side as well. It only brought him pain, guilt, and a false sense of power. However, the Consular also revealed that he had no love for the Order and its beliefs.
This was the final push needed to redeem Lana, as she agreed with Dreshae, for she did feel an intense guilt in the deep of her heart. She stayed with the Gray Jedi for another year, during which time she continued her training under Dreshae, who taught her more of the form Soresu, a form which he specialized in. He also trained the girl in more advanced forms of telepathy, his former specialty, focusing on reading the minds of others and force persuasion. The old Selkath would touch on other subjects, and they would practice Shii-Cho, but the real focus was on Soresu and the Telepathic arts. Lana was ever thankful for the advice and instruction, but reluctantly left Manaan at the newly-reached age of 17 for a particular jungle world where she hoped to rediscover life, and meditate on it.
That particular planet was Malastare. Lana arrived there a few days after her departure from Manaan, on a cargo shipment bound for the military presence there. Upon landing, she set out into the forests of Malastare to rediscover life, and to hone her force senses.
She only had enough rations for a few days, but she began foraging fruits once these ran out. However, she needed little food since her long trance-like meditations would require very little energy. While in this state, Lana could feel all of the life force of the jungles and forests. To her, it was truly a wonderful experience, to feel raw and untainted life.
The padawan would also try to read individual life-forces, to feel their ignorance and innocence. These experiences would lead her, even if she didn’t know it, to peace with her master’s death and her own actions on Rodia, however the incident would come to haunt her for years after this.
It wasn’t long after this realization that she decided to return to the order. Not out of loyalty to the Council or the Order, but as a sense of duty and honor. The Echani padawan activated a homing beacon, which she had kept since the Tragedy on Rodia.
Within the week, a shuttle and several Knights had arrived to bring her back to Coruscant. Once she arrived, she was interrogated by The High Council, and questioned excessively about the events during her self-imposed exile. Lana was taken aback by these deeply personal and invasive questions, further emotionally distancing herself from the Order which she swore to serve. After a week of questions and honest answers from the padawan, the Council decided to allow Lana to remain a Jedi Padawan.
At that point, Lana reunited with many old friends and sparring partners, all glad to see her, yet wary at the same time aware of her lessened light side aura. Feeling overwhelmed with the recent chain of events presented before her, Lana did what Lana did best. She meditated, and lost herself in the Force. This went on for weeks, Lana rarely leaving her room, and only then to eat and shower.
After nearly four weeks, the young padawan emerged from her apparent trance and re-began her sparring sessions, force training, and feeding her hungry mind. Without a master to offer structured training, Lana took it upon herself to learn new things about the galaxy abroad. Her main focus was on her Echani hertiage, something she never had the time to study. Of particular interest to her, was the Echani Martial Arts.
She wanted dearly to learn at least the first few forms, but had no knowledge of them and did not know anyone who practiced them. Fortunately for her, however, the force would provide her with a teacher. Cara was also a young Echani, except she was ten years Lana's senior. A guardian, Cara was a skilled combatant, and had mastered many of the Echani martial arts.
They met one day in one of the sparring chambers, where Lana witnessed the grace of the Echani arts first hand. One thing led to another, and eventually the adventurous young knight agreed to train Lana when she had spare time. Within several weeks, Lana was making excellent progress and the two had become friends despite their opposite personalities.
Not long after this resurgence, she realized she had two real choices. Seek for a new master, and hopefully become a great Jedi Knight; or leave the order and start a new life. Even if she were to become a knight, should she become a consular or sentinel? She currently wrestles with this decision, as it will ultimately decide her role in the galaxy…
RP Sample:
Freezing cold gripped the dim cave, and all within as Lana Kindari’s boots gracefully kissed the frigid stone ground of Ilum’s Crystal Caverns. The light and relative warmth of the Jedi Temple on the planet had long departed, and Lana was armed only with a glowrod and her own mastery of the force. The yellow light bathed the surrounding black in an orange hue. It was not the only light in the darkness, crystals of various shades and colors provided islands of illumination in a sea of abyss.
The Echani stopped the chattering of her teeth long enough to brush back a stray lock of her colorless hair. After her hair was tucked into place, the anxious young apprentice stopped in her tracks, silently feeling for the slightest tug in the force.
“Focus. Let the crystal call you.”
She let the words of her master, Gervar, echo through her mind. She then cleared herself of all thoughts, and listened, no, felt the force. Soon, the slight tug of the force beckoned her onward, towards a small tunnel. A quick wave of her glowrod revealed that the entrance to the same tunnel was open.
Almost reluctantly, the padawan got on all fours and gripped the handle of the rod with her teeth in an attempt to free one of her hands. Slowly, but steadily she made her way down the tunnel, which only extended two dozen meters onward. Eventually, she noticed a faint glimmer on the other end of the tunnel, and soon found herself standing up in a small cavern. There were at least three dozen crystals in this particular chamber, but the unmistakable pull of the force led her to a light, nearly blue crystal in the center of the formation.
As slight grin of victory surfaced over her face ,and the padawan, filled with excitement, eagerly grabbed the cyan beauty. This proved to be a minor error, as the crystal turned out to be sharp. A miniscule, albeit painful incision was made on the teenager’s right hand as she wrapped it around the crystal. She withdrew her hand almost instantly.
“Damn, thought I’d had you.” She said before recovering the happy, yet focused grin. Lana closed her eyes and reached out with the force, and pulled up lightly on the crystal. She lifted her eyelids, and the icy eyes focused intently on the now freed crystal, all the while drops of blood falling to the cold hard ground, freezing as they went.
It took some manipulating, but the cyan color crystal soon broke free of the jealous formation, which was reluctant to relinquish its most beautiful jewel. Using the force, she brought the crystal to rest on her palm.
A mile-wide grin found its way to a very excited padawan’s face as she held her prize. Already, she felt herself bonding with the crystal. Content, the Echani padawan deposited the crystal in her pouch. She turned on her heels, returned to her position on all fours and made her way back to an eagerly awaiting Master Gervar.
