Location- Healer's wing Timeline- After basics are best
Mal sighed again as another medical report came in from the on going troubles from the front. He could sense that the time is coming when these reports would come flooding faster then the younglings after first day with their sabers. Thinking back to his first few times working with one was very painful. Thankfully his skin was thick back then or he would have given up very early on.
As for the new set of traines he would have to be ready. Also he had heard that the older ones were getting to up the power level too today. This would be a bit of a hardship on the healer for they just started healer classes with the medicore, so they were going to be a bit short on healers.
Mal kinda did mind that they were short on help but at the same time glad because of the new recruits joining. Four years though was the medical schooling so he could expect a greater number of the older healers to return in two. Until then longer hours less sleep for this hutt with the healing hands.
Letting his mind wander for a bit, mal slipped into a force vision. Nervousness with heavy breathing mixed with pain great came to Mal in a blurry vision. Pain and heightened emotions of others have always for Mal made for poor visions and poorer judgements. Whoever was tied to this vision had their emotion out of focus and was not trying to control it, which realy bother him.

Maylis was worried. She'd never been responsible for much, other than running quick errands for her superiors. But she was told that she was old enough now to begin helping in the medicorps... at least until she found a master, her caretaker assured her. The woman was nice, Maylis thought, but she was beginning to doubt that she would ever find a master.
The Force was a funny thing, though, and try as she might, Maylis couldn't help but feel as though her being moved into the medicorps was important. She felt a definite tug, a softly-guiding invisible hand leading her there.
As she hurried into the care-taking unit, Maylis couldn't help but notice the brightly-colored Hutt that she had been told was in charge. Cautiously, Maylis tried to get close to him without distracting him directly from the person he was tending to. Maylis had to hand him the clip-board she had, which contained her information, but she didn't want to interrupt.

Bringing himself back to the now Mal had been absent mindingly working on a youngling. Refocusing and drawing on the force he slow eased the cells to start to reheal in the young human male's left arm. The scortching was minor to Mal yet for the young one it was the end of the verse. The hutt had already stopped the nerves from firing in that area of the arm. So the pain the male was enduring was in his head.
Opening his mind to the things around him looking for some distraction for them both is when he noted a young human female at his arm. Being a bit disturbed at not knowing when she arrived, he shifted his body to get a better look at her. This gave the young male a direction to look and a reason for being braver than he truly was at the moment. Taking her data pad and giving it a quick once over Mal saw that she was assigned to his department. Nodding Mal spoke in a deep rich low tone....
Thank you for coming. I have been short handed for a while. My name is Mal Konti, yours would be?

Maylis Vataan. What do you need me to do first? Maylis was a practical girl, and she knew that in a hospital there was little time for pleasantries.
She was ready to assist, and because her healing abilities were only good enough for minor injuries assisting was really all she could do. Clerical work, restocking medical supply cabinets, and healing scrapes and bruises was really all that could be expected of her at her age and skill level. She briefly remembered a young twi'lek in her class who was exceptionally gifted in the healing arts. That twi'lek had found a master right away and was probably off in some war-torn planet healing soldiers. Maylis wished she could be as useful.
Moving that thought from her mind, Maylis paid attention solely to Mal Konti.

Mal lended back abit noting the young female's 'get to business' attitude. Blinking his hutt eyes he looked at the medical cabnet.
The green case and the healing fluid in the clear plastic tank.
The items he asked for were common items, yet he used them in odd manners. Normal healers had wondered about his healing style. His surounding the body by healing fluids and then enhancing it by the force.
Mal wondered how well trained this new recruit was. In the past few years they were very limited in skill. So he wanted to test her skills on this young boy. Soon he would find out much about her in short order.

Maylis nodded and walked to retrieve the items from the cabinet, feeling extremely self-conscious. She balanced the fluid container on top of the green case and placed it on the table next to Mal and the the injured youngling's bed.
She straightened her robe and glanced at the youngling. He was a little younger than her, so she didn't recognize him from training. He was a human male with rather long hair and a crooked nose, as if it had been broken some time in the past. He appeared to be asleep, though she didn't know if he had been medically induced to that state or not.
Maylis rocked back on her heels, chewing on her lip nervously as she waited for Mal to start the procedure.

Mal took note of her actions she was more nervous than he would like to see from one who was going to be a healer. Nervousness and fear would and does translate to the force and the healers actions. Sighing Mal turning a bit to levitate the tank over to the injured one's side. Mal waved for her to fill the tank while he place the injured left arm into the tank.
When you heal either for the first time or the last you must have calm. Being nervous will be felt by the paitent either by way of the force or visually. How much training have you had since you were found?
Mal slowly released the arm and the pain constraints of the nerves. The young human whinced and whimpered as the pain increased. Pain was good for it told Mal where to start the healing. Yet the squirming of the young human would not do.
Also if you care find out what caused the injury we are healing it will be information on how to treat the next time.
The questioning of the young female of the male would help Mal in distracting and removing the thought of pain as he worked.

How much training have you had since you were found?
Maylis blushed a bit, and answered almost ashamedly- In healing, I have only a glint of skill and most of what I know I learned from books. My teachers have been busier of late... she trailed off, not wanting to betray her thoughts that perhaps they wished to just drop younglings into positions that forced them to learn skills. She thought very highly of her instructors and didn't want to seem ungrateful.
But I admit that most of my gaps in knowledge are due to my unwillingness to speak up with my instructors. I don't want to pull them away from other promising younglings. Maylis stated matter-of-factly. She was comfortable with her own personality, though she did feel guilty that she couldn't be of more help to Mal Konti.
Also if you care find out what caused the injury we are healing it will be information on how to treat the next time. Maylis nodded and walked to the other side of the bed, lightly holding the young boy's hand so he would focus on her, looking away from Mal Konti.
She began to ask him simple questions, and gleaned that the boy had been injured in the right elbow and knee pretty severely. There was, perhaps, a fracture in the patella and deep muscle bruising in his elbow. She also learned that he had gained his injuries during a training session, but he seemed too embarrassed to talk about how it happened.

Mal listened to her worlds. He humphed at her word of training from books at that the lack of intrest the others had for one like her. Every potential force user could be a jedi or a sith none should be just skuttled for lack of power or training. When though she said she did not want to pull the intrest from the teachers because she thought herself less worthy was the final nail in the coffin. Yet he let her do as he asked and found out that she has better knowledge than she let on. Deducing the injuries was the harder of the healers leasons. The fixing of the problems was the next hardest thing for the younger ones. It was because they lacked the split focus needed. It was not the power level of the healer but how they did it was what mattered.
He looked at her when she finished....When we are finished here you will bedoing more than book work here padawaan. I can assure you of that. First though focus your mind upon the arm I'm working on and watch carefully.
Mal delved into the force and focuse it upon the burns of the left arm. Within the force the pain coursing through it was bright and shining. The nerve ending were raw and open to the healing fluid. As both the fluid and Mal's probing healing power slowly the nevers quieted and the cells started to regenerate. Widing the focus upon other areas of the arm and of the other places where pain was acurring Mal let flow the healing side of the force stimulating new growth, mending bone, and rejoining tendons.
Mal went on for about an hour or so leting the force ebb and flow from him to the wounds of the young one. Finally he gave a great sigh and leaned back from the young one. Letting go upon his hold and use of the force.
Take a breather and refocus upon the healing by yourself but do not engage the healing simply watch as the normal process continues.

Maylis stood with her hands folded in front of her and closed her eyes. She breathed slowly and calmly, concentrating on the Force. She felt it swirl and eddy around the recuperating boy, watching it dip in and out of the wounded areas almost like a sewing needle stitching up a cut. She almost gasped aloud at the delicate intricacy of the patterns and smooth swirls of wispy, soft lines that surrounded the boy.
Maylis meditated briefly, bowing her head so her chin touched her collar bone. She was amazed at the healing power of the Force. It seemed almost like an entity, almost like a gentle and caring doctor unto itself. She felt as if, maybe, if the Force could speak, it would utter soothing words to the boy as he was being healed.
The Force seemed downright intelligent, if anything. It was amazingly and perfectly precise, though that made sense when Maylis considered the fact that the Force was what held the universe together. It occurred to Maylis that it was completely possible that the Force was healing the boy in order to fix itself. When the boy had become hurt, the Force was disrupted. Now, possibly, it was fixing him in order to make itself right.
Maylis kept her eyes closed and spoke softly- This is amazing, but I can't help but wonder... Why is the Force so attentive? Does it heal for the sake of the creature, or for its own sake?

Calmly Mal watched the young ones mainly the female because she was more attuned with the healing side of the force. As she watched Mal could tell that her atunement was better than she let on. When she asked about the actions of the healing force, he knew he had some one how would be a great healer.
Balance. It is the balance with in the force. Each place and being is either in a state of calm and peace, or fear and death. Each to his own, is how the force deals with the other. Those of light are focused and draws the powers of the light where as those of the darkness fear and death follow them.
Of course many would have a different idea. Straining the sand flea for the sake of a vat of healing fluid, as it would be said. Still light helps light and darkness for darkness. Each empowering and each dealing in kind with their side. The light side as you know loves peace, calm, creation, and the living things. Where as the darkness love fear, hatered, death and destruction. So greater faster and better healing is found with in the light. Though there is healing with in the dark side but it come at a greater cost and usage of force power.
What may take hours to heal in the Jedi temple may take days for a dark one or sith. So always be mindful of why you're healing if it take more energy and power then look to see if your emotions and sadness with the possible loss is interfereing with the healing. Even here to a great bit of detatchment is needed if you are going to be some thing more than an aide.
A question have you ever been apprenticed or been out of the temple for any reason?
Mal wanted to fully understand what kind of young child he was getting to be working beside him. If she had yet to see the darkness and help fight it off then she might be a weak healer if not shown early. Reading beside the point, for anyone can read about the sith of lore or the great dark jedi of the past in books but seeing it being near it is quite different.

Maylis listened intently to Mal Konti.
Balance... Maylis thought, rolling the idea around in her head. Light yearns for more light, darkness towards itself... It struck her as odd, but intensely interesting that The Force behaved like that. Her curiosity was piqued.
She brought herself back to answer Mal Konti's question- No, I've never been outside the temple. I've been here since I was an infant. Maylis had been brought into the temple when she was just days old and had no recollection or actual knowledge of the outside world. Only what she had read in books or been told by her instructors.
But... none of it really clicked with her. She didn't have the framework in her mind to understand what life was like. It would be like trying to explain life in the ghetto to a child born rich. Or explaining what it's like to be rich to a child born in the ghetto. She could intellectually grasp the knowledge, but it didn't impact her.
The only knowledge of the galaxy past these walls that I have comes from books, again. Maylis almost considered it a failure that she did not have wisdom, but she did understand that wisdom could only come with time and experience. She just wished that her training had included enough experiences that she could have been more helpful.

Forgetting that most of the young ones here have never seen the darkness like he had, nor had to face daily with in themselves like he had too.
Then it is about time that we change that after we finish up with this young one. You will acumpany me to the lower levels of Coruscant, where every sort of evil and vilieney can be found. Once you have seen and know then we will go to another place one I found long ago, a place of greater darkness. There we shall gather flora and fawna for the healer's science lab and there you will know what true darkness is.
At that Mal dove deeply into the healing force deeper than he did at first. First the force moved around the burned left leg. Then some broke away and moved to the right elbow. Yet that was not all another part pulled away and moved to the knee. All at once the romm seemed alive and filling with the force moved and twisting healing each and every pain restoring life to the young male's injuries.
Continuing on for about another hour Mal worked his split focus upon the young male healing all the injuries only directing his focus partly more on one area than the others every five minutes or so till the healing was done.

Maylis's heart wrenched in her chest, beating faster than it ever had in her memory. Leave the Temple? she thought, her mind racing. See... the worst of Coruscant? She felt almost faint.
She watched Mal Konti focusing intently on the human male that he was healing, and she tried her best to calm herself. She would have a full-fledged Jedi there to protect her, a Hutt, no less. She took comfort in the fact that people rarely stood up against Hutts, notorious for their own deeds or not.
Maylis was careful not to distract Mal Konti from his healing, not knowing exactly what a disturbance to his thoughts would do, but sensing that it wouldn't be good for the patient.
Now that her heart wasn't racing and her adrenaline was dying down, Maylis was voraciously curious. She had thought about meeting people that were different, species that she had never seen, since she was eight or nine. She had invented wild stories with her friend, Ninyel. They had been absolutely obsessed with the outside world. A past-time like that didn't leave you without endowing a sense of wonder.
She wondered if they would have to fill out paperwork to allow her out of the temple. Surely they wouldn't just let a youngling out without keeping tabs on her?
