Planet Name: Criaxa II
Planet Type: Terrestrial/Water
Habitable: Yes
System: Criaxa System (Grid A6)
Terrain Overview: Criaxa is a planet consisting entirely of shallow ocean, temperate forest, and brackish swamps. The land, about 23% of the planet’s surface, comes in the forms of numerous islands, the largest of which is 11 million square miles, and encompasses the southern pole. That island, Dai, is the only true continent on the planet, and possesses the largest topographic diversity on the whole of the planet, including two mountain ranges (Carda and Thera), a desert (the Dola), and countless acres of temperate forests, grasslands, and marshes.
Other notable islands exist, with most of the useable land at the poles rather than the equatorial regions. Five of them are inhabited, and the sixth is designated as a wildlife preserve.
The island of Tari is an equatorial wildlife preserve, more a long region of tidal swamp than any actual land. What little land there is is soggy and unsuited for any kind of construction. However, while not serviceable for construction, it is excellent for animals, possessing a wide variety of wildlife existing in complete safety.
The entire planet maintains four standard seasons, which are inverted in the northern and southern hemispheres. Cold weather is common in the winter, but neither pole is frozen. Snow is restricted to a few months during the winter, and then never at the equator.
By far the planet’s greatest asset is its ocean. It is rich with mineral deposits and rare metals, including all the required components of both durasteel and duranium.
Notable Geographic Features:
Carda Mountain Range- On the southern continent, this mountain range extends a hundred miles.
Thera Mountain Range- Intersecting the Carda Range, this extends 200 miles, bisecting the southern continent.

Capital City:
Port Haven- Port Haven is the capital city, and the largest city on the continent. It is the oldest city as well, and saw several key changes aesthetically over the years. A new revival period in 3640 BBY brought about an exquisite architectural style, with new building facades of carved stone brought from quarries. The city is well-known for its splendid architecture and its regal magnificence. It is also the administrative center of the planet, home to the Governor's Mansion at 1 Imperial Center, and home to many offices and company headquarters.
Major cities:
Otapa- The second most populous island, Otapa is one large city, and the site of the largest spaceport on the planet. It is located in the southern hemisphere, not far from the main island. All the natural topography is gone, but waterways remain. The city itself is actually built on small islands, resulting in bodies of water dividing buildings and streets, leading to a rich architecture of bridges and compact lifestyles.
Maur- Maur is an interesting town, more a hamlet than a real population center. Just a few short years after the discovery of Criaxa, a luddite sect of monks relocated from the mid rim to the outer, seeking a simpler existence. They settled on a temperate island ripe with resources, where they became a rallying point for a simpler existence, attracting a town outside their abbey to live in the same ways. Maur produces a great quantity of traditional wine, both sparkling and otherwise, as well as high quality beers and handcrafted works of art prized throughout Sith space.
Del- Del is, in short, the tourist's paradise. Of all Criaxa, only one swath of land was gifted with truly sandy and pleasant beaches, and this was the area of Del. With pristine, tropical forests and idyllic areas of sand and surf, understandably numerous resorts were founded here, catering to citizens of the Sith Empire seeking a good vacation.
Chel- Chel is an industrial island, home to many enormous heaps of slag and the bulk of Criaxa's foundries. Almost all of the metals mined on the planet are refined here and sent into the orbiting shipyards. Almost all the nature here has died, leaving behind only pests and potted plants in offices.
Sentient species:
Immigrated-
Humans
Twi’leks
Rodians
Ithorians
Aqualish
Quarren
Native-
None
Non-Sentient species of note:
Purple Damsel- This colorful species of fish breeds monogamously, existing in plentiful numbers throughout the oceans. Image
Hawkhead Sturgeon, Spiny Pike- These two species are large and aggressive fish that are extensively caught and eaten for sustenance on the planet. Image
Orra Dragon- A repto-avian predator, they are rather small, rarely growing beyond five feet from nose to tail. They are often omnivorous, and are often considered nuisances, particularly to the rural population. Image
Southern Thunder Hawk- This small bird of prey hails from the southern continent, with a two foot wing span and an unusual claim to fame. Thunder hawks swoop down on their prey and emit a concentrated sound wave that acts like a concussion weapon, shocking the prey and paralyzing them, hence their name. They are often kept as hunting birds by the elite. Image
Razor Crane- This wading bird is known for extremely sharp feathers that protect it, and is prevalent in the swamps and coasts of the various islands, all across the planet. Image
Red Wing Parrot- The Red Wing is an extremely popular animal, commonly seen as a pet throughout many star systems as well as in their native habitat. Naturally they are highly social and live in large flocks. Image
Greater Osprey- A predatory seabird, these are found extensively on the coasts, feeding off various fish. Image
Coastal Raven- Like any other raven, this large bird is a scavenger. However, it is quite hardy and prevalent, and grew to be the symbol of Criaxa. Image
Blue lynx- The blue lynx is a predatory cat found in the coastal marshes. They are wary and solitary, and have been known to attack unattended children. Image
History: The Criaxa system formed millennia ago, with four planets forming. The first was a small and rocky planet close to the yellow star, with no atmosphere. The second, however, was terrestrial, and blessed with abundant water. On it, evolution thrived. It was brimming with life and diversity, and when it was discovered in 3700 BBY as the Hydian Way was surveyed, it became a prime candidate for colonization.
Colonization began ten years later with a pair of ships bound for the new world, led by a human man named Aston Vand, a wealthy man from Brentaal ready to shine on his own. Without the influence of others. Criaxa was going to be his triumph, and his alone.
The first batch of colonists established a city on the coast of the southern continent, naming it Port Haven and working hard to establish all the basic industries that would be needed. Potential, for them, lay offshore, and they established commercial fishing and mining operations. Under the guidance of Vand, who created what became known as the Vand Corporation. Naturally he was elected governor of the colony for ten straight years as they expanded the colony from one settlement into four.
Even after the two terms were over, Vand kept his fingers in every pot, and was easily the wealthiest man on the planet. He resolved to make good use of his funds by beautifying Port Haven and establishing social services, becoming a popular figure as much as a wealthy figure. He was laying the ground for the noble family that would rule the planet economically.
Growth was meteoric in the planet, with offshore foundries being made for the production of duranium and durasteel, which soon lead to a small shipyards being placed in orbit by the Republic just fifty years after colonization. Though an old man by then, Vand was, naturally, the owner of the shipyards.
The Vand dynasty retained control as the planet grew, and increasingly the prominence of the planet grew, becoming a major waypoint towards the end of the Hydian Way, past Jaemus but before Bonadan.
As the Sith Separatist crisis brewed, the new government found ardent support in the cities of Criaxa, and the Vands were counted among the Aristocracy of the Empire. They were the undisputed leaders of the planet, and, for all intents and purposes, the leadership exerted was good. Joining the Sith Empire brought a new era of prosperity, one that lingered.
Old merchants brought in lucrative new funds, new immigrants found work, unemployment was marginalized, and prosperity was everywhere. The marshy-lands were one of the happier places to be found in the Empire, and new military contracts made sure everyone was happy, with full pockets.
Criaxa in 3601 is a Sith planet that seems poised to grow in wealth, prestige, and value as an asset. It has a substantial population, a ruling aristocracy, a thriving shipyards, rich resources, and many notable foundries.
Governance: Criaxa is essentially a constitutional monarchy, and the monarch is the Vand Count or Countess. That role is purely as a figurehead in principal, though very often the political leaders will obey the Count's instructions.
The actual government is a parliamentary system, headed by the Governor-General, an elected figure ruling the planet for a single six year term, and elected from amongst the members of parliament, who serve three year terms. The planet is divided into five districts, one for each inhabited island. There are ten members of parliament elected from each, selected by popular vote in order of poll results.
There are five major political parties. The most popular is the Criaxa Coalition, a traditionalist party representing industrial interests and heavily devoted to the ways of the planet.
Opposed to the Coalition is the New Alliance, a leftist party advocating government-sponsored safety nets, such as enhanced unemployment and universal healthcare.
The third party is the Imperial Party. This is an organization dedicated to the Sith Empire more than Criaxa, taking its marching orders from the aristocracy, and increasingly the Sith Order. It is widely reputed to engage in less than savory tactics to gain voters, ranging from free items for a vote to voter suppression.
The fourth is the Independence Party, which advocates secession from the Empire and becoming a neutral world. They are considered a fringe group, with a small but vocal following.
The last major party is the Revolution Party, which advocates the overthrow of the complete system of governance and replacing it with a dictatorship of the people. They vehemently oppose the position of Count, and disrespect the Vand family.
Criaxan Flag:
Symbols of Criaxa:
Animal- The Coastal Raven
Motto- My honor is loyalty
Emblem- Scales. They possess the dual meaning of trade and justice, and are used by both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Trade.
