Species Name: Pan
Species Type: Near-Human
Planet of Origin: Pan
Average Maximum age: 130
Age of Maturation: ~20 (Adult) ~27 (Full body limit growth)
Average Height: 5'10" - 6'3"
Average Weight: Males: 230 - 270 lbs
Females: 150-200 lbs
Notable biological features: Pan's were a hybrid species of humans and a humanoid species, but have since, over thousands of years, changed enough to be counted as near-humans. At first glance, and even second glance, they look quite similar to humans, but their overall body mass is what throws them off.
Pan's have dark hair, such as black, dark brown, dark red, ext., and dark eyes. Still, it isn't rare to see some with lighter hair and brighter eyes (~80%-20% dark/light ratio). Their skin has slight variation it, but stays from fair to tan, hardly going under a dark tan. Another noticeable feature is how slow their hair is to grow. They are born with a thick head of hair, and only need about 3-4 haircuts a standard year to stay manageable, speaking from a military point of view. Its quite rare to see a Pan with short hair. The majority of Hybrids also share this, rarely picking up on the other species traits.
A male's Pan's body is quite muscled, coming from years of training in martial arts since they could walk, as well as their biology. Females are also in very good shape, but only about 30% of them choose to fight. As Such, the Females are more petite and slender, belaying their surprising strength. Male Pan's have two, over-sized hearts, and two blood circulatory systems. Due to their larger frame than humans, each heart is in their chest, one where it could be found on a human, and one mirroring it. This, paired up with over-sized lungs, allow them great endurance, and their muscles tire more slowly. Women have an internal biology not unlike Humans: one heart, slightly larger than normal lungs, and a single circulatory system.
Another large difference between them is if they sustain a injury to put them into shock, their brain shuts down all pain receptors, so they can continue, usually, as how their species evolved, fighting. When this happens, they seem to get much faster and stronger than one could imagine, as they feel nothing: no pain, no tiredness. If this happens, one would usually die, unless medical treatment is applied and that one could be saved. Besides that, the Pan are faster and stronger than a human on a planet with standard gravity.
After their planet was decimated, the Pan have adapted to life where it is warmer. As such, they dislike the cold, and even being outside in a planet such as Hoth for too long of time, with decent protective gear, can kill them in less than a day.
They also are slow to adapt to new things. Even with them knowing about the Republic, they don't fully accept them in, or their technology, instead remaining on their own, old way of life.
If broken, it can take more than a year for a Pan's bones to heal. They also have a weakness to heart and liver diseases which would hardly do anything to a human, or similar species. Other diseases that wouldn't normally effect a Human would make a Pan sick. Many carry around antibiotics when venturing offworld, in case something happens to them.
Growth Pan's, when fully grown, take on the appearance of a well muscular human, but, save for three growth spurts, are very slow to grow. they look like young children, around 7-8 years of age, when they reach that age, and remain so until they are around 14-15 years old. Over the course of , give or take, three months, they reach the body of a teenager. They keep this body until they are, give or take, 20 years old, where they are considered a full part of the adult society.
Growth doesn't stop there. Those dedicated to training and martial arts will go through one last growth spurt around the age of 26-27, packing on much more muscle, and gaining more strength and speed, and usually never growing any taller. By the time they hit 30, they are slow to show age until they are around 60-65, where they are starting to grey up and slow down, as this is their middle age; and from there they would proceed to show age at the same rate as humans.
Number of limbs and Type: 4: 2 arms, 2 legs. Biped
Culture: Much like the Mandalorian's the Pan are a warlike species, thriving on battle. Their planet is nothing but ruins of destroyed cities, but, within the last 500 years, the roaming clans came together to form a monarch system, but still had clans. Reguardless of what clan a Pan is a part ofwarships what they know as the High Lords, which they believed to have brought them to their power.
Clans:Pan's live in multiple clans, of varying names, some random and newer, and some almost as old as the species itself. The ruling clan, Clan Pan, rules the species, and, for the most part, keeps war to a minimum. Clans Bar, Sol, Farel, and Chil's are all noble clans. 7 others make up the royal military, and the rest of the clans are of the public.
It isn't hard to move from one clan to another. One just needs to gets permission from a noble clan elder, and the approval from the elder of the the clans from both sides. Once permission is granted, than the one who wanted to which clans has completed his goal.
Naming: Naming is relatively simple: Each Pan is (Usually) named after a Deity, (or a variation of a deity name), or food, fallowed by a name, which includes the clan name, unless someone has switched clans. ( Panreich as a single name, Solis-Chil, or Solis Chil as someone who changed clans.) The Name of the clan is always somewhere in the surname, and can be put anywhere, such as Panreich, or Sapan. For this reason, many clans have a short, two or three letter name, and some are even forsaking this age old tradition, using the clan name as a surname. This is quite rare to see, and only clans that have integrated deeply offworld truly do this.
((A list that one can go off of, but not limited to, is here.))
Religion: Pan's overall view is on a collections of deities known only as the High Lords. The High Lords brought the Pan to their planet, as well as gave them their powers of longevity, speed, strength, and flight. No true worship is needed, only the acceptance that the High Lords, and only them, rule over, and if this acceptance is ignored, then the Pan would loose their power's.
Technology: Technology, for the most part, is nil. They use only what they have from the Republic and allied worlds to them. They have created wrist mounted weapons, which, after venturing into the larger galaxy, now consists of slugthrowers and blaster pistols. Besides these, which are meant for close combat, nothing else is transported off planet.
History: Pan's history begin early on, before they had a recorded history. The Ancient Celestials brought ancient humans to a a large planet on the outskirts of the galaxy. For tens of thousands of years, these ancient Pan lived on this world, slowly growing in advancement, but never made any contact with any outside forces, until the Rakata invaded their homeworld, taking many as slaves.
Over thousands of years, the ancient Pan and other species mixed, and interbreeding. The most common was between the Pan and Human species. During the fall of the Infinite Empire, Pan beat back the Rakata, claiming much of their tech for themselves. The inhabitants of Planet Pan decided to call themselves Pan.
Over the next few hundred years, the Pan integrated the Rakata with their own, using it, and their hyperdrives to attempt to explore more of the galaxy. After several failed attempt, they ceased all attempts for extra-planetary explorations, and build up on their culture.
Recorded history began as soon as the planet was free from the Rakata. It went as far back as to when the predecessors of the Pan were slaves. Until about 10000 BBY, the Pan grew and grew, and as were the way of things, fought like barbarians. Soon, technology grew only to help win battles and wars, and, almost overnight, the Pan bombed themselves back to the stone age. Only a few million, spread across the planet, survived, and all that was left was ruins and scorched ground. The planet, once full of plains and oceans, now lack much water, lava flowed, and only small patches of forest and plains remained. above all, not a single piece of technology worked on the planet.
The Pan still fought each other, slowly growing in population despite the fighting. Crude weapons were made, such as swords, shields, and most often, fists, and for thousands of years, this was the only way to fight. Different sections of the planet's population evolved and mutated slightly from each other, taking on different traits such as lighter hair and eyes, however rare it was.
Conventional weaponry never came into the Pan's arsenal until around 5000 BBY, which consisted of short barreled, wrist mounted slugthrowers, leaving their hands mostly open for brutal melee attacks. Martial arts became an integrated part of society, and was the main form of War for the Pan.
At 4003 BBY the Pan made first contact with the outside universe when a scout ship looking for new hyperspace routes landed on the planet. The actions by the Pan to these scouts was unhostile; instead proving fruitful to the Pan. Over the next 20 years, the Pan went through a massive change, from almost a barbaric, medieval species into something a bit more advance. With the Republic aid, their species grew, technology-wise, extremely advance.
It was around this time where the Clan's came together to form a monarch society. War overall on the planet decreased, yet there was still large clan feuds.
For the next few hundred years, the Pan remained an independent planet, loosely aligned with the republic. Many Pan who ventured offworld became merceneries, in order to fill their want for a fight. When the Sith attacked the Republic, at any time, many Pan joined up, it didn't matter on what side, in order to fight. To this day, as many Pan can be found as hired muscle, as soldiers on one side of the war.
