History Many historians believe that, like many other planets, Arthonia was formed by a large planetary piece of rock, until a large asteroid collided with it. Like other planets, it gained massive heat, and an atmosphere formed. Unlike Terran planets, however, Arthonia did not have the blessing of water, or forests. Instead, massive amounts of sand covered it's surface, and the wind slowly shifted them to dunes. While many believe life wasn't possible without water, sand plankton, small microscopic animals, existed on the planet. Bacteria arrived, and they evolved into a massive beast, one of extreme prowess, the Dune-worm. Filter-feeding on the plankton, they were known to grow to massive lengths and live for thousands of years. A species of humanoids evolved on the sister terran planet near it, and sent settlers to colonize it. Naming it, Arthonia, after one of the humanoid gods, it's hardships shaped a unique species and culture. Among it's most valuable resource, however, was Ryll Spice found in deposits under the sand. However, locating these was hard, as Dune-worms frequently killed humans in the desert. But when the Arthonians found it, they kept it secret from their masters, and it became a major form of currency. One metric ton of spice was worth a fully grown Dune-worm mount, however the Arthonians wouldn't learn it's value until the contact with the greater galaxy. Following the Arthonians mad quest for revenge and the extermination of the humanoids, Arthonia became the only habitable planet in the Arthonian System. Because of the Arthonian armada glassing the other planets to molten lava worlds, it was paradise compared to the other worlds. Recently, the Republic has had no success at colonizing the other worlds in the system, and it's spice trade has made it a hub for trade in the Outer Rim.
