Planet Name:Nardensia
Planet Type:Ice; Frozen Desert
Habitable:Yes
System:Largentra System; Unknown Regions
Terrain Overview:
Essentially one massive frozen desert, it is home to nearly no species. Only one sentient species and one non-sentient species are known to exist on this world. There are many hot geysers that produce a heated steam. As such, the Nardensians commonly build their villages around them. The Cordarnsians, meaning Ice Dragon in Nardensian like to hide in massive caves and caverns, and hunt the Nardensians down via these tunnels.
Notable Geographic Features: Nardensia is clustered with many mountain ranges, geysers, and slopes. Many geologists think that it used to be a massive swampland, which would explain the Nardensians bearing a striking resemblance to a flying, lizard-like animal. What is very special about Nardensia is it's astronomical alignment. The Largentra system is known for having three stars, but only all three are view-able from Nardensia.
Capital City:Tarkentia Village and Starport
Major cities:Tarkentia Village and Starport
Sentient species:Nardensians
Non-Sentient species of note:
Cordarnsians:
Humongous, flying creatures. For thousands of years, the Nardensians have struggled to survive against the harsh blizzards of Nardensia, and these dragons do not help either. The Nardensians have no where to run, if they try to fly, they'll be snatched out of the sky. They can't exactly run very fast either, while Cordarnsians can. But they do have a very big weakness, they do not like heat. Thus, the Nardensians have decided to build their villages near the heat geysers on Nardensia.
History:
The Nardensia today is not what it was 100 thousand years ago. Many geologists believe that it was once a paradise, a massive tropical swamp. Fossils and the Nardensians natural characteristics point to massive lizards inhabiting the world. In fact, even the Cordarnsians resemble the creatures of ancient Nardensia. But, the peaceful surface of Nardensia was a ruse, in Space, gravitational changes in the Largentra System were taking place, and it was getting further and further away from the star, and underneath the surface, tectonic changes were taking place as well. Then, about 60 thousand years ago, something huge happened. The swamp was already starting to freeze up because of the lack of heat, and only the fittest of animals survived. Among them were the Cordarnsians and the Nardensians. The Nardensians were getting the gift of sentience and flight, a good combo. However, the Cordarnsians, once their predators on land, were also evolving to fly. Almost 40 thousand years ago, the final change happened. The main internal fires in Nardensia cooled, and the swamp froze up entirely. Most of the lizard species died out immediately, due to lack of food. The Nardensians managed by feeding on young Cordarnsians, and, quite ironically, Cordarnsians fed upon fully grown and young Nardensians. But, the Nardensians intelligence also rose up as well. When they realized their predators hated heat, they constructed their villages near the geysers. As such, the Cordarnsians found it harder and harder to find prey. Luckily, they did not go extinct by finding prey in forms of small mammals in the caverns they lived in. Indeed, 20 thousand years ago, the transformation was nearly complete, and tectonic movements started creating massive mountains. However, almost no other life other than small mammals was put onto Nardensia. Harsh wind conditions spread the snow around in violent blizzards, while frozen rain was common. However, sometimes in the areas near the geysers, it's just hot enough for liquid rain to fall. 100 years ago, Nardensia was found by Republic explorers, and so were the Nardensians. Communication problems between the explorers and the Nardensians made it hard for them to introduce themselves, and they were forced to rely on pictures. 50 years ago, the language gap was closed, and the Nardensians joined the Galactic Republic, but still found it hard to stay in touch because of their distant location. 10 years ago, Republic hate started emerging, and when the Sith arrived in the Galaxy, they took Nardensia with no resistance. Today, it is home to a Sith listening post, where they monitor the Republic transmissions going from the Outer and Mid Rims to the Core.
