Now that the third one is out.... thought I'd start a thread to talk about all three. And since I just saw all three on Thursday in the theater. And since I just saw them... I'd have to say that Batman Begins is awesome. The Dark Knight is really awesome. And The Dark Knight Rises is super freaking amazingly awesome. So yeah, they just keep getting better. But I'll have to go see Dark Knight Rises again in a few weeks just to make sure. ;p (And to pay more attention to Bane the Mumbly's words; seriously, I only caught about half of what he said, haha). It's sad that Nolan (and Bale) doesn't want to do any more films... but I can kind of understand why as well. There has to be an end sometime. And I think the third one had a satisfying enough ending for me to be happy with it being the last one.

Gotta agree with you, all three are awesome. My favorite has to be Rises, it's been a while since I've seen Begins and while DK and Rises are probably the same length DK feels longer. When I watch DK I feel those 2 hours and 33 minutes with Rises it kept going and never felt like a slog. I’ll have to rewatch them all back to back when Rises is out on blu-ray and see which one I really like the most but for now Rises takes the cake.
I also loved Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I didn’t think she was going to do a good job but she pulled it off fantastically. She was actually my favorite part of the movie and it makes me kind of sad we won’t see her again in that role. And I agree on the ending, it was perfect. Oh, and I never had a problem with understanding Bane execpt for maybe two or three times the entire movie.

Rises was pretty awesome, and I never had any problem understanding Bane. But I have to disagree, the ending was about the only part I didn't like. It just felt a bit predictable and weak. And the whole "name reveal" at the end for the one character felt forced and entirely unnecessary. That and it bothered me a little that they never once mentioned Venom, the super-steroid Bane uses in the comic which would have explained why he was so ridiculously strong in the movie. But here

Titan was an Arkham Asylum creation, which used Venom as one of its base components. Venom is a purely Bane thing to use.

Obviously the trilogy was awesome but I think I differ from a lot of people when I say that Batman Begins was my favorite of the three, I feel like it really gets swept under the rug cause of this Heath Ledger joker business. He was good, don't get me wrong but still.
My one critique of the series is what it has done to people's perception of how a superhero/comic book movie should see. Every time I see some new movie possibly being mentioned it's always like "OMG NOLAN SHOULD DIRECT IT AND BE ALL DARK AND GRITTY ETC ETC" Which is why I'm glad Whedon didn't try that jank with the Avengers. Nolan's take on Batman was good and appropriate considering the character but it doesn't fit every role and Nolan is now what I consider somewhat overrated.
That being said, it is still a bittersweet parting. I'd have love to see what he would've done with the Riddler or Penguin.

I'm with you Jace, Begins is still my favorite of the trio. And I agree, Nolan did good keeping Batman gritty and visceral, since that's what his character is all about. But then again, every other Nolan movie I've seen has looked exactly the same...

If Nolan had done the Avengers, maybe I wouldn't have almost fallen asleep with boredom.
Well, then perhaps I also differ since, though I love Batman Begins, I think The Dark Knight is even better, but not because of who played the Joker, or even if the Joker was even involved. ;p
Even so, I feel a little odd even wanting to compare the three movies as individuals, because they really feel like one large epic movie to me, that just happened to be split up. The theme that starts off in the first one bridges into the next two, and that's honestly what I love the most about this/these version(s). The theme of what a hero's true purpose is and all that.
Anyway, I'm hoping to go see the third one again this weekend. Maybe my opinions will change on a second viewing.

Yeah, he did do a REALLY good job at tying in the movies. Specially with Talia, that one part was like O____________O!!!!!!!!!
but Bane did sound like donald duck, mixed with darth vader, with a touch of sean connery going through puberty. I dunno, I giggled every time he talked.

Hmm, enter the guy who knows jack about movies. In other words, ME! . . . yeah I'm not too good when it comes to setting myself up seriously. Still just like your average man I do hold some sort of an opinion, and given the fact that I went to watch the newest Batman movie for the first time just a couple of weeks ago (yes a while after release, I was stuck in France and I was not going to go watch it in French) I have a burning need to impose my opinion on the entire world.
I generally liked the trilogy, The Dark Knight remains my favorite for a variety of reasons (I won't hide that Heath Ledger is one of these reasons), but the newest one was probably my least favorite of the Nolan trilogy. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, just that I felt it was less awesome than the other two. I suppose I should expand upon that statement a bit.
Well to put it simply, Bane was awesome. Of all the comic Batman villains Bane was always one of my favorite character. I mean the guy was born in a prison, is a criminal genius and uses uber steroids to kick butts. Additionally whoever played him in this movie did a great job, giving him a really cool, calm and collected appearance. What's not to like? So how was that a bad thing you may ask. I think Nolan pretty much kicked Bane's character in the nuts when he revealed at the end that Bane wasn't the mastermind behind the whole thing but instead Marion Cotillard's character had come up with the entire scheme.
In my opinion movies can rise and fall based on their villain, and that plot twist at the end really made Bane appear a lot less impressive than he should have been. Of course there are reasons behind that particular choice, I just wish that one of my favorite Batman villains didn't have to be turned into a babysitter.

If Nolan had done the Avengers, maybe I wouldn't have almost fallen asleep with boredom.IT'S A GOOD THING THAT SENTENCE IS STRICKEN THROUGH OR WE WOULDA HAD A PROBLEM D< Lawl jk I also agree that Bane's voice was...funky. I didn't necessarily dislike it but still. Personally I didn't think the whole inception cast needed to be in the movie. I wasn't feeling this portrayal of Talia as much but maybe its cause I'm biased towards the Arkham City game. The whole Bane not being the mastermind did kinda throw off his impressiveness a bit. Honestly if he was going for some bad guy behind the curtain thing, I woulda liked to have seen Hugo Strange but whatever.

Yes, yes, yes and more yes. A million times yes (I'm so eloquent). Hugo Strange as the secret bad guy would definitely have worked better. I can just imagine Strange playing both sides off against one another in some sort of sick and twisted experiment. Like a puppeteer, holding all the strings.
On a side note I would have been interested to see what Nolan did with a villain like Freeze. The last time Freeze was in a Batman movie he was played by Arnie, and while that was hilarious it never really struck me as a faithful or great depiction of the character.
I would also have payed to see Robin's face as he discovered his costume.

Saw Rises again on Saturday. Still awesome. I wish I had something more of substance, but I don't.

I heard that Hathaway would not be adverse to doing Catwoman again in her own movie, but only if Nolan was directing. And since Hathaway totally nailed it, I would have to agree that that is a sound idea.
But yes, Bane mumbled a lot and I had to watch it twice to get the hang of what he was saying.
Now here's a question for everyone: would Rises have been different if Ledger was still alive and the Joker had played a part in it?

Actually, I was thinking the same thing a few days ago, if the third movie would have been so tightly wrapped up and melded with the other two films as well, if they hadn't had to change the original idea (I'm assuming).
Because, I would think if the Joker had continued, there'd be no Bane or Talia or League of Shadows connections, etc. Plus, even the title of the film would probably be different, as well as the theme.
And quite honestly... I'm happy the third film ended up the way it did. I can't imagine it being any better with any other characters in it. With a different plot, etc.
