The day for Rui Magnus started within the most unkempt room in the Jedi temple. It wasn't even a matter for discussion, it was simply fact. The sun only entered the room, after piercing through the top of a droid parts pile that had been expertly placed right in front of the window. In Rui Magnus's room this pile served as curtains, but there was no plan behind it, he simply did not have another spot in the room to keep those parts. The entire floor was covered in piles of iron screws, iron nails, droid parts, some weaponry parts, spaceship or other vehicle parts and all kinds of similar things.
The walls were similarly covered with blueprints, pictures, notes and memos. Not a single spot on the walls was free and in some cases the blueprints, notes and memos were hanging on top of each other. For people out of the loop of Rui's thinking the walls looked like complete chaos. However all of these things were invention related, the blueprints were of things he had already thought up. However some of the blueprints had a red ring or red cross written on them with a pen, indicating a flaw or something that needed closer attention. The pictures were mostly 3d graphics of the blueprints and the notes and memos were mostly about the blueprint they were stuck next to or on top of. Some of them listing things Rui needed in order to complete the work, while other listed the flaws that needed to be eradicated. A few of the memos listed simple things like; "this invention needs a name" or "the battery wasn't good enough to handle the strain".
The only track that was clear through the rubble on the floor was the one Rui Magnus used himself everyday without fail, so if someone wanted to go into the room without stepping on some kind of material of any sort, he would have to walk into the footprints Rui used on daily basis. Those tracks were the only spots that reached the floor without something coming in between. There were a few simple pairs of footprints that lead up to Rui's desk from the entrance of the room. Those footprints could be used for guests that wanted to speak with Rui at the desk. Then there was another track that lead around the desk, those tracks went right, but sharply turned in a half-circle as they reached the end of the desk and ended close to the seat on the other side of the desk. This track was mostly used by Rui himself to walk around the desk and get into his own seat on the other side. The final track went from the seat towards the far left corner. In that corner a suspended bed hanged over piles of rubble. This track was also mostly used by Rui himself in order to get to his bed.
Interestingly the only thing that was in order in the room was the desk itself. Everything was flawlessly placed, the paper was organized, the pens were new and shiny and exactly four of each type. In simple terms it looked like the desk of a business man, although it was the desk of a Jedi which kind of made it stand out. Most Jedi did not even bother to have a desk in their room after all.
In the bed, Rui stared at the ceiling in a haze. It was the haze of a man that had recently woken up from a deep slumber and was fighting the fierce internal battle of deciding if he wanted to continue to sleep or get on with the day. Shortly after his rational mind won the contest and he rolled himself off the bed. In most rooms this would have been of minor consequence, however Rui's room wasn't normal. Beneath his falling body were a lot of iron materials with sharp edges and points raised towards the ceiling. This was however already part of the routine for Rui Magnus, so still half-awake and half-sleeping he gathered the force into his hands and legs, covering them in a cocoon of protection. As he drew closer to landing, he extended his arms and legs downward like he had done hundred times already, landing in a push-up position above the sharp materials. His head and torso dangling right above the sharp edges and points. His hands and legs remained mostly unscathed due to the force, but he was a bit sore in the hands when he stood up and placed his feet in the familiar tracks that lead towards the desk.
"good morning master" said the familiar voice of C3, Rui's protocol droid.
"good morning C3" said Rui in kind, as he glanced towards the entrance. The fog over his eyes had lifted. His two droids stood on either side of the door, unable to enter the room fully due to the rubble on the floor. Therefore if someone wanted to step into the room through the entrance he would have to walk between the two droids to do so. The other droid that so far had not said a beep was an astromech droid of the T7-series.
"What does my schedule say for today?" Rui asked as he reached the desk, but did not stop there, instead continued to walk the half-circle path towards the exit. C3 promptly responded; "Breakfast at twelve, teaching at the academy at twelve thirty, Archieve duties at two two o'clock, after that you are pretty much in the clear master"
Rui shrugged as he walked up to the two droids near the entrance. "nothing new then...has anyone responded to my inquiry about the possiblity of forming a business arrangement?"
"No sir, not at this time, but as you have requested if anyone contacts me for a meeting on the subject, then that meeting will be placed behind your Archieve duties, somewhere around three o'clock."
Rui Magnus smiled slightly, this droid was actually quite useful. While he did have a urge to take it apart, after all he wanted to see how the GE3 model functioned internally, but that would have to wait. It was too useful to discard in such a way. Though Rui might of course put it together in the exact same way it came apart, but that usually wasn't the case. When Rui's mind went on a fly he often tried to create something completely different than what he started with. In a sense that was simply how he was built, if that GE3 came apart he would probably not look like a GE3 when he was turned on the next time and possibly not even have the same functions. "good, keep up the good work C3. you two follow me, we've got work to do"
GE3 acknowledged the order with his feminine programmed voice, but the astromech answered with a cheerful beep.
