Varos Sendis is not the typical Jedi Knight. He is not a guardian who goes marching into battle or a consular who seeks out the mystery's of the Force. Instead Varos has chosen the path of the Sentinel as he believes balance is the best path. In the past he has defeated beings who are more skilled than him in the combat or who are more talented at wielding the force, Largely due to his large range of skills. However Varos prefers to be in a laboratory than on the battlefield. His eidetic memory has allowed him to absorb information on a wide range of subjects from botany, to engineering, from physics to politics. And he is largely considered to be one of the Jedi's best minds.
Varos was, for a short time, a Jedi Watchmen but since then he has returned to Courscant and split his time between two main professions, not including his always present research, one is as a Jedi Archivist and the other as a Jedi Instructor. The latter is his official position, and he loves every minute of it. Occasionally he will teach the students skills with the force or the lightsaber, for he is a Jedi and still skilled in their use, but that is usually left to his more specialised comrades. Instead he usually teaches the students lessons that are considered, by many, to be the more boring ones. The Sciences, politics, galactic culture & history and diplomacy. Although the use of the lightsaber and the ability to connect with the force are vital; Varos believes that no Jedi can work to the best of their ability without academic teaching. His role as a Jedi Archivist is largely done in his spare time. He will help the Chief Librarian with anything they want.
Although Varos would prefer to be in a laboratory or in the archives he is a Jedi and knows it is his duty to assist the Galaxy's citizens. He does so with a sense of pride. When fighting, whether it be against Dark Jedi or enemies with blasters, he is likely to use his scientific and engineering knowledge just as much as he is to use the force or his lightsaber. If a Jedi needed to stall a ship. A guardian may destroy the engine with her lightsaber, a consular may use mind tricks to get the pilot to turn around but Varos would use his knowledge of engines to make is malfunction. Or, if the people on board the ship were particularly dangerous, for example an army or group of Dark Jedi, he would do all he could to sabotage the ship, with the aim of it exploding. He is not the most powerful Jedi, not by a long shot, but hes knowledge and ingenuity has gained him a reputation among the Dark Jedi and others that he is someone to avoid if possible.
Varos has a very deep sense of right and wrong. And when he sees someone causing pain, or someone who has already caused pain and suffering, he wants nothing more than to cut them down with his lightsaber. He wants to show them there is a conseqeunce for their actions. His anger, however, has never gotten the better of him. To combat his anger he often jokes., both in deadly and non-serious situations, and is definitely not the most serious Jedi. When explain something he often forgets that few people have his level of knowledge and will not explain in a way the ''layman'' can generally understand. It doesn't help that he often speaks much faster when excited or happy.
Friendship is very important to Varos and he is extremely sociable. If a stranger approaches him, and he is not busy, Varos will happily sit down and talk with them. Being a Jedi, and the fact it is so obvious, it often ends in them asking for his assistance. This does not annoy him and he rarely turns them down. Being a Knight he is largely permitted to do his own thing and he takes the opportunity to help in any way he can; no matter how small. He has friends across the Galaxy, many of them he has helped in various ways, but there is one woman who he is closer to than anyone in the universe.
Armini Devros, a Human woman from Chandrilla, is a woman who inherited her father's fortune at the age of 16. Since then she put years into training herself in martial arts, the use of blasters and in a wide range of subjects that could help her help others. Then she started to travel the Galaxy, going places she heard needed help. She quickly became famous and many people in dire situations traveled to Chandrilla to try and find the mysterious woman.
Varos first met Armini when they were both 18, he was on a mission with his master, and their first meeting consisted of Varos being punched in the face. They eventually worked together to save Varos' master and since then became very close friends. Over the years they continued, with such frequency that both parties wondered if the other was stalking them, to bump into each other. And eventually they began a quasi-relationship. Both knew it had to be kept secret but both of them love one another. And eventually they were married.
Varos is scared of being found out and he is sure it is only a matter of time. However, until that time, he will continue to do his job. Whenever Armini needs his help, she will find a way to let him know, and when he is off-world and alone he will try and get to Chandrilla. One of the reasons he hasn't taken on a padawan is a student would make their visits impossible.
Although Varos' entire life has been dedicated to the Order he would, if forced, choose Armini over the Jedi. And if he was forced out of the Order he imagines they would start a family together; which is something he has dreamt about many times.

Varos Sendis was born on his species home world of Arkania, Trade City. His mother Hanna and his father, another Varos. Both of his parents were rich and powerful merchants who wanted their son to take over the business empire they had built together. There son was more of a succession plan than anything else and they never truly loved him. When he was born he was tested for force-sensitivity. The results were sent to the Jedi and it was clear that the boy had the potential to become a Jedi. However his parents had no intention of letting their only heir join the Jedi. From a young age they began to teach him about the business and politics of their home world. Varos loved these lessons but he far preferred to learn about the Sciences. It was not strange for an Arkanian to have a great mind and Varos clearly did. His parents were happy for him to be taught about the sciences, as long as he learned about the business too.
Varos was followed, almost exactly three years latter, by a younger brother named Arka. Now that they had a second son his parents contacted the Jedi and gave them permission to take Varos. His parents were hugely relieved. They had hoped they would have another son before Varos turned 6 incase the Jedi came to collect him then. Varos was upset, how could he not be? But he adapted rather quickly to his new life on Courscant.
However seeing so many alien faces was scary! His home world generally disliked outsiders, the Arkanians considered themselves to be the most evolved species in existence, and they didn't want their planet to be tainted by lesser species. But the temple was full of every species imaginable. But his initial fear was soon replaced by a curiosity to learn all that he could.
His training began immediately starting with exercises to increase his physical strength and endurance. It was exhausting and he hated every minute of it. As they advanced to basic training saber skills and basic tenants of the force he became much more interested. He did well in all of these classes, usually in the top third, but he excelled in the academic lessons. The lessons that most of his fellows would moan about, as they had to be virtually dragged from their training sabers, were what excited Varos most.
Politics, history, the sciences, engineering and a mass of subjects and knowledge to absorb and take in. There was nothing that he enjoyed more. It was soon clear that he was a prodigy.
He got on well with most of the younglings, only those with large egos annoyed him, and he made many many friends. Most of which he is still on good terms with to this day. His favourite part of the temple was, without a doubt, the archives. When he was first told about them he couldn't believe it. ''We have collected more knowledge here, than anywhere else in the Galaxy,'' is what the Chief Librarian told the class as they were given a tour.
While most of the students were ready to rush out of the archives back to saber training Varos asked to stay. He was turned down, he needed to continue his saber training, but the Librarians said he could return once his training was complete.
It became a ritual of his. After every day he went to the archives and began to read. It didn't matter what it was he loved it all. Off course the Sciences were his preferred subject but history and politics were a close joint second. As the Arkanian youngling grew however he was unable to spend as much time as he would of liked to in the archives. His training dominated his life and although not the most talented he was no slouch. He didn't have the required skill in either field to speciliase so he made the decision that, if he was chosen as a padawan, he would go down the route of the Sentinel.
At the age of 11 the Jedi instructors told the Council he was ready to be appointed a Master. They thought long and hard over who to appoint him to and eventually they chose Jedi Master Hodis Khan, a Human from Chandrilla. Hodis was a skilled Sentinel and a former Jedi Shadow.
