Bio:
Tivari Rezz was born to Tapani nobles Siet and Nien on the planet Proocpia. From the day of her birth she lived a life of luxury. It was a life any parent wished to provide for their youngest child. Her Mother Nien was a Senator in the Galactic Republic and her Father Siet was CEO of the most successful shipping company in the system. Between that and their social standing no one could have provided a better life for her. So when Tivari reached the age of four and a Jedi came to their door and asked about her he was quickly turned away. No Daughter of the Rezz family was to be sent across the Galaxy to learn from the mysterious cult known as the Jedi Order, but while the Jedi was turned away it seemed that fate had other plans for Tivari Rezz.
The day after her fifth birthday an old woman arrived at the families’ doorstep offering her services as a tutor. After background and credentials checks on the part of her father Mien was hired. What none of the background checks on Mien had revealed was that she had formerly been a member of the Jedi order. . That while she did indeed plan to teach Tivari what most children learned. She also intended to train her in the ways of the force. The old woman had no greater motivation then wanting to be in the company of someone like herself. To forge one last great bond before her death, this was Miens aim in training Tivari
Even at her young age Tivari proved to be gifted beyond anything Mien had encountered before. All manner of mundane subjects fell before her rabid desire to learn but it was with the force that she truly excelled. Never in Miens memory had a youngling been able to feel it and touch it so quickly. Despite her separation from the Order and it’s teaching Mien still felt that if Tivari knew how much more advanced she was it would be the ruin of the child and her both. So Tivari was kept in the dark. Made to believe other children across the galaxy had outdone her countless times in every way. Miens praise was hard won so Tivari sought after it more and more fiercely.
Despite being gifted Tivaris advancement was slowed by the presence of her parents and older brother along with whatever guests her parents might be entertaining. Their household was a busy place and Mien had made her swear to keep the force a secret from her family. Forever would she have to hide her true nature from them. There were many reasons for hiding it from them. Mien told her that force sensitive children were sent away from their families’ never to see them again. It was Tivaris first lesson in secrets and she learned it well. Secrets kept her safe. Things she knew and others didn’t were power to her, Power over her own fate. Mien saw a day coming when Tivari would no doubt pass a Jedi in the street and unless she had the proper training they would know her for what she was. A trained force sensitive not bound to anything or anyone. So with this in mind Mien began the basic instruction of force concealment. Tivari would have to learn how to hide her presence in the force if she wished to keep her secret.
Even for the gifted it was not a technique that could be learned overnight and Mien had other equally complex things to teach her or at least the beginnings of them. What Tivari could hope to understand. By the age of ten Tivari was chaffing at being held back by Mien while struggling at the things Mien had been trying to teach her for years. Despite starting shortly after turning seven Tivari still couldn’t conceal herself in the force. Even in her best attempts it was no more then a flicker.
Alongside this technique she trained her mind. To separate one half from the other, or at least that’s what she attempted. Sometimes after hours of silent straining, Tivari would lose her temper. Mien only looked on coldly as her student threw things across the room, with her hands as often as the force. Sometime she wished to tell Tivari that she was doing things most younglings wouldn’t have daydreamed and that it was only her limitations of her underdeveloped mind that kept her from advancing faster but the old woman held her tongue.
Some things couldn’t be overcome despite natural abilities and Tivaris age was holding her back. Telling her so would only make things worse. So instead Tivari was given something new to focus her attention. Mien began teaching her how to erect barriers with the force. Mien thought it was fitting, force barriers being her own area of expertise and Tivari took to it like a Krayt Dragon to sand. In a little more then a week she could maintain barriers along her palm for a few minutes at a time, much quicker then Mien had expected.
It was this that lead the old mentor to begin questioning if it was natural talents that allowed Tivari to advance so quickly in everything set before her. Most everyone had an affinity for one thing or another but very few had natural ability in so many. After a few tests Mien put it down to a highly developed intellect. Tivari simply understood things much quicker and more fully then her peers. At twelve years of age she understood things even those a few years older then her couldn’t hope to grasp.
The strain of training in secrecy was begging to tell on Tivaris progress however. Even her work with barriers which was something of a relaxing activity ground to a halt as she was forced to abandon her training for hours at a time to attend social gatherings with her parents. So Mien pretended she was needed badly at home to care for her ailing sister. Not wishing to interrupt Tivaris education or force her to accept a new tutor after so many years of working with Mien. Tivari was sent along to continue her education on Miens home world of Mustafar.
The pair arrived at a small long abandoned house on the plains of Mustafar. Nothing compared to the grandeur that Tivari was used but comfortable enough and Mien felt it best that her apprentice learn too live on her own. It might be important that Tivari know how to look after herself in the way that most people did. So alongside her force training she for first time in her life performed the more mundane tasks of looking after her own clothing and keeping her living space clean.
Despite Tivaris irritation at the lack of servants she knew better then to complain on it to Mien. It wouldn’t get her anything but a tongue lashing, and she had more important things to do. Without the interference of her family and social gathers her training moved on. It had been a long time since she had left her more academic studies behind having mastered most of what was expected on her home planet so entirely free to give herself over to her force training she excelled even as it intensified. Mien had finally taken her as an apprentice. Despite their one on one relationship over the past several years Mien had treated Tivari as if she were one among twenty students. Now Mien devoted her full attention to Tivari.
Rather then letting Tivari move at her own pace unchallenged she prodded at her apprentice while she trained. Pushing harder and harder on barriers Tivari tried to create or lightly flinging small stones while Tivari tried to concentrate on concealing her presence in the force, or when Tivari was trying to divide her mind. The more Tivari advanced the harder her Master pushed back driving her to even greater heights then she had dreamt she would reach the day before. A year passed in this fashion and then another. Tivari could fully conceal herself in the force if she focused on it to the exclusion of all else. Her barriers could stop blaster bolts without breaking.
It was during such a session that Mien and Tivari stumbled across a latent ability. Passively Tivari was absorbing a small amount of energy from the plasma as it collided with the invisible barrier. The excess energy undirected by Tivari quickly dispersed and created a mild tingling sensation across the bottom of her feet. After mentioning it to Mien the Master frowned and buried herself in Data pads for an hour or more.
Finally emerging she informed Tivari that she may have natural talent for an ability called Force absorption. It was to absorb energy from around yourself and if properly directed could be used to bolster the power of your abilities or fortify yourself against fatigue. When Tivari asked her Master to train her further Mien refused. She said that later she would indeed see the ability blossom but right now Tivaris workload was large enough.
So they continued as if no discovery had been made and before she had much time to be resentful Tivari forgot all about her fledgling ability. Mien drove her apprentice hard leaving her no time to dwell on anything and Tivari began to have the sneaking suspicion that either her teacher was trying to make her forget or she was trying to teach Tivari as much as she could handle as quickly as she could so she could move on to different teachings.
Shortly after her sixteenth birthday celebrations the grueling training suddenly dropped off in favor of study of Tivaris own home world. Mien said that in a few years the pair of them would be returning home and Tivari would no longer be able to hide from the world as she had done during her childhood. She would return nearly a woman and things would be expected of her. She would begin her climb through the political nightmare that comprised the Tapani sector. Her position would helped by her infamous house name but there was much work she would have to do on her own and during all of that she would still be required to continue her training. If not quite so much as she had been. Her barriers had achieved Knight level according to Mien and there was nothing left to teach with force concealment or the mind trick. Mastery would be achieved through time and practice.
All that was left for Mien to show her for the immediate future was force absorb. Mien frowned over that and said “I had hoped you would advance more quickly so I could begin teaching you force absorption well enough that you could carry on, on your own during your free time. I don’t think we have enough time for that now so I will teach you what I can and see if we can’t find some more time for it in the future.”
Disappointment welled up inside of Tivari. Still unaware that she had tackled things Padawans her age wouldn’t dream of but it was short lived as she found herself immersed in the politics of her home world. Who was who and how they mattered. Nobles who would hold true to their alliances or who would crumble under pressure. Mien had spent every free moment on Procopia learning the ebb and flow of it’s politics. Studying Tivaris fathers business. She set all the information out before Tivari to absorb and understand. Her master quizzed her on names and positions. It was all basic things she would have long since learned had Mien never arrived but there was still time to make up the gap.
Important things like her own resources, allies and influence would all have to wait until she returned home. Mien said she was simply correcting an imbalance in the education of a force sensitive noblewoman. One of the most important things was to remember that her brother would be in the thick of it and her rival when she returned. Family ties must not stop her doing what was necessary. This was the begging to Tivaris coldness towards others. If she could turn on her brother then no one was safe.
It wasn’t long before Tivari had learned all Mien could teach on the subject and so their training once more turned to the force. Continued practice in the areas Tivari had become proficient but much of their time was spent with force absorb. Tivari needed to learn to control the energy being absorbed. Time passed and little progress was made. Despite Tivaris affinity for absorbing energy she simply couldn’t figure out how to direct it. This was if anything the most complex technique Mien had tried to teach her. It went beyond force concealment and unlike force concealment Mien had no practice using the ability herself. She only knew the theory on how it worked which wasn’t much help to Tivari. The final months before her twentieth birthday were spent teaching etiquette. This was all grasped very quickly because for once Tivari had some prior experience having grown for twelve years in a noble mans house. After what felt like an eternity on Mustafar the pair boarded a ship and arrived home a day early for Tivaris birthday.
A huge host of people greeted Tivari and Mien at the door, her parents and brother among them. Already her education with Mien on Tapani politics came in handy. As Daughter of the Rezz family her return had caught the interest of some of the biggest names on planet and so began the long and perilous dance of politics.
One important person after another she greeted warmly and played the part of the perfectly well behaved guest of honor. Before the night was through she was to keep in touch with half the people in the room. A slight grin as the last filed out the door wishing her well. The game had indeed started the moment she walked through the door and she saw now she had a lot of ground to make up. Tivaris presence was felt throughout every branch of the Tapani government but she was most often seen among those who; made, altered or removed laws. It wasn’t long before she was seen as the rising new star among the nobles and politicians. Soon a heavily sought after ally because everything she turned her focus on seemed to shift and twist until it emerged in a state more to her liking.
Laws it had taken years of squabbling to get set in place were changed or removed in short months and Tivari used these to start her own fledgling shipping company hiding behind a puppet CEO. As laws were changed as to what goods could pass through lanes that led to Procopia so did Tivaris business flourished. Her competitors would find that the goods they were shipping were illegal or that each ship was restricted to only carry so much. Within two years only her fathers company was larger then her own. Hardening her heart a little further she hired Pirates to attack his ships and steal his wares which she bought up herself and sold back to her Father only to have them stolen again. Slowly his business floundered and Tivaris company bought out her fathers. Only in desperation for the well being of his employees had he sold it.
Three years after returning home Tivaris Puppet Corporation controlled nearly all the shipping into and out of the Tapani sector. With her financial position more then secure she looked to follow in her mothers footsteps and become a Senator in the Galactic Republic. With the step up that only a Mother would give Tivari found her self poised on becoming the Junior Senator but she found herself suddenly blocked by another young noblewoman at every turn. She had been careful in her political maneuvering but somehow this woman had escaped her notice. Enier was her was her name. Enier was the daughter of the equally prominent house Saul.
A little digging revealed that she had been the rising star before Tivaris return to Tapani society and Tivari had thoroughly eclipsed her upon her return. In no time she had undone most of Eniers work and now the woman was seeking revenge by blocking Tivaris rise from Tapani politics and into the galaxy at large. Despite her best efforts Enier managed to foil her push towards senator status again and again. Mien who had become little more then one of Tivaris advisers at this point suggested rather then spending years trying to outmaneuver Enier she simply remove her from the picture.
With doing exactly that in mind Tivari hired the mercenaries who laid waste to the Saul families’ yacht with Enier and her parents inboard. Authorities saw nothing more then a band of pirates who were after what they could scavenge from the rich family. It wasn’t unheard of with the rising number of attacks made by pirates over the last years. A small sense of sorrow over the lost life was quickly squashed as Tivari finally ascended to the junior senator seat.
Being rich gave her power but politics could give her more so she pursued it. She found that influencing things on a galactic was not nearly as easy as it had been to influence things back in her small sector, and that the senate moved much slower. Everything before seemed to have moved at a breakneck pace compared to the plodding of the Galactic republic. . Beyond the import and export business out of the Tapani sector she had nothing but pretty words to offer the other senators.
It started slow, the forming of Tivaris vast spy network. Tivari paid off servants to divulge secrets on their employers, usually Senators or other dignitaries on Coruscant. She began ferreting out secrets that others would have rather forgotten. Slowly it began to expand. Servants and Ship mechanics on Tivaris payroll. Telling her what they knew about their respective employers. With blackmail in hand Tivaris ideas were pushed forward and challenged less and less by those who did not want what she knew to come to light. All handled through a puppet senator so that none would know it was she pulling their strings in the dark.
Almost no one guessed what she was up to. On the surface she was simply a voice that echoed her mother in nearly all things. Everything done with the best interest of her home and people in mind. It was during her networks early stages she was found out. Luckily it was by someone who wanted in rather then to rat her out. His name was Neil Gyre. Formerly a republic spook, his life as a soldier and a spy had left him with a limp that had earned him the nickname “hopper”. He had spent his life coordinating spies for the republic and had used this knowledge to dig up her own fledgling network.
Tivari gave him a job. Her eyes and ears Hopper was master of her spies. Retrieving information, keeping them in line and getting them in place were his jobs and he was good at them. In a year she had information coming in from a handful of prominent senators households. On Coruscant and their various home worlds. In two years she had three times as many Senators under her thumb.
At twenty five despite her network she had very little power to influence the course of politics. All matters concerning spies had been left to Hopper for well over a year so and with a large break in discussions that were relevant to her interests Tivari took a Vacation with her Mien back to Mustafar. There the two returned to training although far more informal now as Mien had long since felt that Tivari was no loner her apprentice.
Still they worked. Force concealment came easy to Tivari know. Able to easily hide herself from others who could touch the force. Tivaris force barriers were near impregnable to every attack Mien throw at them. Tivari knew that if she were to every face a Jedi by herself the barriers were her only chance of staying alive. A little progress was made in the two months spent on Mustafar. Finally Tivari could hang onto a portion of the energy absorbed long enough to use it to sustain her or her force barriers. Still a large portion of the raw energy faded before she could make use of it.
Tivari didn’t feel two months was enough but, even a junior senator would be missed eventually so Tivari returned to Coruscant. With Hopper handling all of her contacts and Republic senators still moving like a herd of turtles Tivari was left with little to occupy her time. Her attention turned back to her shipping company in the Tapani sector. A closer look at financial records left Tivari in awe. Deciding the company was plenty stable Tivari began ordering them to invest and expand into different fields. Soon her company had its hand in everything from mining operations to children’s toys. Orchestrating many of these ventures from the background took Tivari five years all told. At age thirty that she finally saw some progress that brought her full attention back to politics. Hopper had managed to place several spies that had dug up blackmail on several Senators who were very outspoken when it came to Tivaris ideas.
Even though most of those came out through the lips of puppet Senators who also received the scorn of said Senators Tivari still felt their words burning her pride, but the black mail wasn’t enough to swing anything in her favor just yet and this was when Tivari made her first mistake. For the first time in years she went about planting a spy herself. This one a secret, even from Hopper. Her desire to have all of those who opposed her fall lead her to this first mistake. She selected a man with a background as a servant. She checked no further, assumed the money would keep him quiet and the real mistake was meeting him herself. The first spy to ever know they were employed by the junior Senator from the Tapani sector.
Everything went off without a hitch. Her spy was hired and slowly the information came trickling in. It was the last man she needed to silence before the last of any real opposition to her ideas would fall.
The only problem was that her spy never seemed to return any information she could use. In her haste she hired another spy and then another. All of them well aware of who they worked for.
A year passed and then two all the while Tivari hired more spies. Added more weak links to her chain. Finally she relented and desperation told Hopper of her spies and what she had been trying to accomplish. Hopper was unhappy with her work but there were too many to remove, at least all at once. So began the nerve wracking work of hiring an assassin to remove them. Months passed and one by one her spies within the household began to die of unfortunate accidents.
Tivari hated to see so much work go to waste but Hopper refused to do it properly until the garden had been weeded so to speak. Years of getting spies in turned to years of removing them. The fruition of Tivaris plans which had seemed so close were now even further not just despite but because of her haste. Mien had a few things to say about that. Smart as Tivari was she still had lessons to learn. Then something happened Tivari had not accounted for. All her careful plotting and maneuvering was wrecked in a short speech made by the Supreme Chancellor Naaden. The Republic was at war, every major issue would be swept aside and the entire Senates focus turned to what was happening in the outer rim. Tivari struggled over a plan and finally happened across one. Once more she held her tongue instead of confiding in Hopper and once more it would prove to be a mistake. She changed the assassins orders. Instead of one of her spies acting as a Senators servant the Assassin would go for the Senator himself.
The Assassin failed and was captured. Having been handled by Hopper the assassin didn’t know anything about who had hired him but he told the authorities who his initial target was. The last spy left in the Senators employ was taken into custody. With only an hours warning Tivari would always think of escaping Coruscant as a Miracle. Fast work on Hoppers part but nearly all of Tivaris work was undone. The spy had revealed who his real employer was; Republic authorities had swarmed her suite on Coruscant. (Luckily she and her staff were already gone) but they uncovered a large portion of her connections from Data left behind in haste.
Within a week on the run half her spy network had been taken into custody all across the galaxy. What was left had largely stopped as the government assumed the worst. Said it went beyond petty politics and that she was a traitor. Her name was smeared far and wide and a large portion of what was left of her spies and contacts simply stopped reporting. Her situation was grim but she rallied. She was alive and her company still intact and under her control. So she took a long look at all her mistakes and vowed never to repeat them. It was time for her to find a new place to set up shop. With that she ordered her ship to the outer rim.

RP Sample: Tivaris dark blue eyes flicked quickly around the corners of her office aboard Temraire while different then her suite back on Coruscant she she had to admit it was no less luxurious. The tension among her staff that had escaped with her was settling. The night clubs and swimming pools were being put to use after a week or more of had felt like a ghost ship. More than fifty people had followed her into being a traitor unknowingly. Tivari felt a small twinge of regret for the ones who had come into her office sobbing about their families.
She had already had a close call with a group of men trying to force their way onto the bridge and take over the vessel but her security forces had subdued them. Tivari couldn't say if she would have acted any differently in their places. She too had left her family behind forever. Only Mien and Hopper for friends. A small smirk at the thought the hunched old woman the stiff necked soldier.
They were her only friends... her only family now. At least until she found a new place to call home. The smirk faded and a small sigh permitted only by the fact that she was alone escaped her lips. She knew what she was looking for. If a traitor could find a home anywhere it would be amongst the Sith. Tivari wasn't sure about any of it but Mien said that they were out there. Men and Women who could touch the force. In the past when a Sith empire had risen always were the Sith lords hiding in it's shadow. Tivari just had to see in the dark.

Adulthood part 1 20-30
Adulthood part 2 31-35
