OOC: Any kind of feedback is appreciated...
Name: Yemran Otdar
Race: Zabrak
Age: 11
Height: 4’ 5”
Weight:80 lbs
Appearance:
Yemran Otdar has a light tan skin color. This makes him look very much like a human. However, his newly growing horns which signify the approach of his rite of passage and his entrance into puberty, set him apart as a Zabrak. Adding his facial tattoos to his growing horns, anyone can recognize him to be a Zabrak at first sight. The child has brown eyes and unlike many Zabraks he has eyebrows.
His body seems very much like that of a human boy’s at his age, he maybe just a little taller than your average human boy. He wears the brown youngling clothes given to him in the Jedi Temple and his clothing does not have anything special: the usual robe, the usual belt and the usual boots. Overall, he perfectly fits in with other younglings with enough distinctive features to be known as a Zabrak.
Personality:
Yemran Otdar shares the primary personality trait of his race: He believes that he can accomplish any task he is set out to do! He believes that nothing is truly impossible, especially when one of his Jedi instructors asks it. This led him to do his best in any task given to him, believing that failure in anything would not be permissible. For Yemran, thinking that something is not possible is equivalent to being too lazy to try and do it. For this reason and also because of his success in achieving each one of the tasks set out before him, Yemran developed a very strong sense of self-assuredness.
This, however, did not lead him to become an arrogant child believing in his superiority towards his mates; rather he started to believe that if everyone contributed with everything they had this would serve to add values to the Jedi Order and to the galaxy. His pride and confidence took the shape of a pride of the clan; rather than being proud and confident of himself alone, he focused these racial traits of his on his clan as a Jedi youngling and the Jedi Order as a young member of it. He started believing that any difficulty could be overcome by his clan if they worked together and the competition for being the most successful among the clans and among Jedis would serve to improve the capabilities of the Order.
The confidence and pride he had of his clan turned him into a child that cares for the people around him that he works together with. He started to realize that a group can be as powerful as its weakest member, therefore only by protecting and showing the way to these weaker members could the group achieve the ultimate success. He almost unwillingly took the position of a leader among his peers, and tried to protect and help the weaker members in every group activity. This side of him resulted in Yemran becoming a person who would always be there for his friends trying to work harder than everybody else to protect them and assure the accomplishment of tasks.
How his personality was perceived by his peers is another story. He was occasionally accused of being arrogant and some of his peers made their jealousy know at times, but he made every effort to make it clear that he wanted perfection first and foremost for the galaxy and the clan, and wanted perfection for himself only to achieve these.

Bio:
Yemran Otdar was born in Iridonia, the homeworld of the Zabrak species. He was the only child of a humble Zabrak family. His mother was named Vita Uren, his father Nedien Dmaleev. It is a tradition among the inhabitants of Iridonia to teach their children martial arts from an early age, because of the rugged terrain of their homeworld and the hard living conditions in it. Probably as a consequence of this, the earliest memory of Yemran concerns a martial art training he witnessed at the age of three. The details escape him, but he remembers seeing his dad training some children older than him and he remembers how interested he was and childishly demanded that he was taught some moves too. What his father taught him during the next year was very basic hand-to-hand combat that he considered would be manageable by his son. However, these basics stayed with him as minor reflexes but more importantly as an interest to help his training later in the Jedi Temple. What Yemran remembers about his mother is more oblique. According to him, she was absent from home most of the time, but when she was around she was a very loving mother. The earliest years of his memories are so confused that he can’t even be sure about this.
Yemran was “discovered” at the age of 4, by a Zabrak Jedi Knight named Kilan Dmasan who happened to be in Iridonia at the time, and decided to watch young Zabraks train in their martial arts. Kilan suspected that Yemran could be force-sensitive and conducted a midi-chlorian count to see that he was right in his suspicion. He contacted Yemran’s father asking him to let the child go with him to the Jedi Temple in Corruscant. The family was not really willing to let their only child go, but the possibility of having a high-ranking Zabrak Jedi from their family convinced them at last. The child was to leave in a week with Kilan. Another memory that Yemran has of his early ages is from this week. His family, hoping that Yemran would come back to Iridonia and to his home some time, drew Zabrak tattoos on his face. Normally done during a Zabrak’s rite of passage the tattoos Yemran received signified his family lineage. What his parents did was contrary to the tradition, but they made this move out of their hope to see their only child again. Kilan did not really like the idea that the child received a signifier of his origin, but consented to it as there was no turning back and he taught that it was not possible for the child to understand what the tattoos on his face meant, even if he remembered his family drawing them. For a long time, Yemran did not know the significance of the tattoos on his face, and when he learned the importance of Zabrak tattoos, he did not know what the specific ones on his face meant. He wondered their meaning but never raised this as an issue in his relations with the Jedis in the temple. This remained as his little secret that he hoped to discover someday.
So Yemran was in the Jedi Temple of Corruscant at the age of 4. For some reason he considered this transfer as a test put before him that he should pass no matter what. He had to become a Jedi and protect the galaxy. This was not a psychological stress on him however, like any Zabrak he was sure that he could become one of the greatest Jedi of history. This self-confidence turned him into an out-going child that socialized with everyone in his clan, as he did not experience the stress of failure that many younglings taken to the Temple at ages old enough to remember parts of their origins. He was always the first to step up to the challenges, believing that he could accomplish anything set before him. His outgoing nature and high self-confidence earned him not only admirers, but also envious ones among his peers. Soon enough he found himself in the position of the leader of his clan. He was the quickest to grasp the Three Pillars – Force, Knowledge and Self-Discipline; he even helped his clan-mates progress in a no-wonder childish way in understanding these values. He remembers helping a human youngling called Nicole Caldo when she argued with him about the necessity to stay in line and follow their instructor when going for the meal. Yemran told Nicole that staying in line and waiting for their turn was a kind of self-discipline showing that the person did not show too much affection for materials, and behaving otherwise would cause chaos and even animosity between clan members.
In his physical training he had a preference for strength over speed. In line with his personality, he preferred to be someone that others can depend on in their time of need. He tried to be strong enough, so that he could protect his peers rather than focusing on attacking adversaries. His strength was meant to stop his opponent and provide a safe haven for his friends rather than trying to harm or quickly disable the enemy. He was more fit to the role of defender, studying specifically the defensive aspects of the Force, desiring to help his mates accomplish their task adding to the overall value of their clan. He continued to work on the unarmed combat styles that he received the basics of in his homeland, this was also something that he tried to keep with him as a fond memory from the time before he moved into the Jedi Temple. He also had a good grasp of the Shii-Cho style that they were taught. He was not exceptional, but he grasped the style so quickly that his instructor would let him help other younglings in bettering their styles.
Over the years, he earned the respect of most of his clan mates. He started to think of his clan as a family, and started to be proud at every accomplishment his peers achieved. He thought that not only he, but also his mates could achieve anything set before them creating an atmosphere of competition that moved everybody forward. Even the ones seeming weak or confused could do this if they were encouraged and helped a little. By the time he was 9, he was already feeling like a big brother for his clan that had to protect and help his sisters and brothers so that they could be the best.
Not everyone admired him though, and they did not hesitate to bring this up and accuse Yemran of being arrogant. Once, one of his clan mates, a Bith named Jarquin, accused him of thinking too highly of himself. Jarquin told him that he was always trying to show off, jumping at every opportunity to show how great he was. Yemran was surprised to hear that his efforts were considered as such by one of his peers. He tried to explain to Jarquin that what he tried was nothing more than creating a competitive environment to encourage everybody to accomplish their tasks and be the best Jedis. He wasn’t sure if he could convince Jarquin. However, he chose not to speak of this incident to any of the Jedis in the temple as this behavior was against the Jedi Code and he didn’t want to see anyone harmed because of him.
Now he is eleven, and hoping to be recognized and become a Padawan. He is very sure that he will be one soon enough, but he is also sure that all his clan peers will become Padawans with him, and eventually turn into great Jedi.
