Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Apillis, that could be how the Sith get onto whatever vessel they need to get on.

I still think the sith should just bring a cap ship along side and shove boarding tubes into the envoy ship because of awesome.

Yeah, as far as I know it'll basically be Vreem, Aser and Levin vs anything and everything the Sith throw their way until reinforcements arrive. I'm pretty stoked for this. Dang, I was hoping for Elsie to be part of Vreem's group. Stop gender segregation! I don't know if Zark has any preference for Aser to be part of the initial group or the reinforcements, that might be something you might wanna talk to one another at some point. Also, given how far out of the centre of Republic space this convoy is going, and the fact there's a war going on, I think their defences would be a bit better than if it were a normal diplomatic convoy. The Blades will be trying to defend the senators and such, so for a little bit they'll be in the way of the Sith.

Of course. But you can't tell me that the Sith wouldn't devote enough resources to pretty much steamroll any possible defenders the republic might have.

I'd think the Sith would have a capital ship or two for the ambush. But, if they're anticipating (likely) reinforcements, they wouldn't want to completely lock themselves in with other ships. Especially if they're trying to capture folks, because locking themselves in and using boarding tubes they can charge into a ship. But once reinforcements arrive, that works both ways, they're wide open for those reinforcements to board them in turn. The thing about an ambush is it only works when it hits hard and fast, if you're locking ship to ship, you've eliminated your ability to keep mobile.
I mean, if we're talking a large scale naval battle, I can see locking up ships with boarding tubes and all that jazz, seeking to pound one another to dust. But, a skirmish battle, especially one that's an ambush with the express purpose of capturing key targets... ehhh... doesn't sound very smart to me. <.<

Your attacking a small convoy which would have at most a cruiser group in reserve which would probably get stripped off to support the republic at the siege.

Eh. True. Seeing as the value of the targets in the ambush is high, though, the Sith would be pulling out all of the stops that they can. Like I said...
x1-2 Battleships x1 Carrier x3 Heavy Cruisers x6 Cruisers x10 Destroyers x10 Corvettes
On the Sith side, of course. I'll differ to Zark's judgement on the convoy side. Probably 2-4 cruisers with a few destoyers. The reserves would be stripped, like Zark said, but would still be sizable enough to fend off the Sith fleet until they could jump to hyperspace. The goal is to hit hard and fast, but the thing about boarding tubes is that they can get retracted or detached fairly easily, right? Once the principle is off the ship gets slagged and/or the boarding tubes retracted. From there the Sith do whatever they want.

I mean... Do you really think that the Sith wouldn't think of or factor the possibility of Republic reinforcements coming into rescue numerous senators and ambassadors w/ a couple of the highest ranking Jedi?
It just doesn't make any sense to me that the Sith would want to risk one of their capital ships with its ass hanging out to be attacked and boarded by Republic reinforcements. I dunno, it's what would be a lightly armed cruiser (at best, given we're talking about a diplomatic ship sent in the name of peace negotiations), joining the small Republic forces after it has been attacked and boarded with senators/ambassadors captured--that would be far less of a concern than leaving a slow and ponderous capital ship's ass hanging out LOCKED UP (or just starting to unlock itself up) with said diplomatic cruiser to be attacked near defenseless in that situation. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Boarding ships just sounds like a quicker, faster route--more suitable for a skirmish, especially one that's an ambush.
I mean, it just makes more sense for the capital ships to be battlecruisers for heavy artillery to pound the Republic offensive ships into dust, rather than being used as one of the boarding ships. It just sounds impractical. >.>

Meh. You're probably right, Apillis. Vesperia is the one "planning" this IC, and I don't see her doing something as brash as locking up with a ship. We'll just go with getting real close, and then launching three assault shuttles. Each one carrying a Sith (should there only be 3 in the end) and a cadre of special ops soldiers. This good?

So, here's an idea I was talking to Dutch about earlier. Let me know what you think.
So the jedi are in a few blockade-runner sized ships, kinda like the ones in the beginning of new hope or phantom menace. Maybe a few fighters with them for escort.
Sith use interdictor to get 'em out of hyperspace. Tractor beam 'em into a big ship (kinda like new hope). Fighter fly around. Some get destroyed.
And then you get a scene that's kinda like the opening of new hope. But instead of a bunch of republic guards in funny helmets that die when the stormtroopers attack, it's Vreem, Lev, and friends. Of course, there are multiple Sith on the other side. Maybe they try to gas the ship first. Maybe that's how some of the ambassadors get captured, because they're unconscious.
So you can have a fight in either the hallway, or it could spill out into the hangar. From there they either take back the ship or try to hijack a different shuttle in a nearby hangar.
Once the relief arrives, it isn't big enough to really take on the sith fleet. But it's big enough to cover the shuttles as they come out of the big ship and escape.
Could have something where they have to try to disable the interdictor (which could be the same ship as the big one that captures the republic ships, or a different ship). After that even if the sith still have more firepower, the jedi on smaller faster ships can make a getaway

I love that idea. I don't like a space battle because of the aforementioned gap in skill description in some applications. We can all fly but there isn't really an indicator on how good. At least, I don't remember writing it in my app. The boarding idea is awesome especially if we use parties. Awesome two vs two duels.

If the relief force only sits there in ships and covers the escaping shuttles, there isn't much RP the Jedi relief force can do.

I'll have to bow out. My Jedi is no pilot, she's a close-in duelist. If there's no boarding actions, I can't conceivably use her.

lolwhut. You guys seem to be overcomplicating this. And that's me talking.
Initial Blades (and Senators) group on an ill-equipped ship given the scale of the Sith forces.
Sith disable this ship and send on boarding parties to capture the significant figures.
As fight rages on onboard the ship, Republic reinforcements arrive.
They dispatch forces to evacuate the significant figures, reinforcement Jedi/Blades are part of these forces.
That works in my head and doesn't seem as complicated as the discussion was.
