Name: Nelasia Taaz
Race: Mirialan
Age: 11
Height: 4"3
Weight: 57 lb.
Appearance: Nelasia has the gentle yellow-green skin of her people, along with black eyes and bluish lips. Her black hair is cut short, the longest tips barely brushing her jawbone. She has a small diamond on her cheekbone that was tattooed on after she was chosen by the Jedi, signifying the great things her parents believed she would accomplish. She wears her youngling tunic most of the time, though she loves wearing the traditional robes as well. They make her feel important. Her body is lean and she is agile and limber, able to run quite fast, though she is short and slender.
Personality: Nelasia is a product of the Jedi Temple. Quiet and well-behaved for the most part, she has a streak of independence that has been kept alive throughout her life. This rarely gets her into trouble; her teachers make sure her spirits are diverted into good exercises. A friendly girl despite her tendency to drop conversations in the middle, Nelasia has many friends in the Temple, ranging from younglings years younger than she to Padawans on the cusp of Knighthood. She also has a tendency to be very adamantly not quiet when she gets on a subject she enjoys or knows something about--she sometimes seems as if she doesn't shut up.
She enjoys life as a Jedi, especially the philosophy aspects, though she's not averse to a good saber fight. She seems quite introspective during class times, usually because she's thinking things over within herself, only later to expound upon her ideas. Overall, her life as it stands pleases her, making her feel as if she is part of something greater than just her own life. She likes the idea of helping to make the galaxy a safer place for everyone.

Bio:
Born on Mirial, the frigid home planet of the Mirialan, Nelasia at first glance seemed quite a normal child. A fussy infanthood gave way to an exuberant burst of energy as she began to walk, and the crowded nature of her home--four children had preceded her birth--meant that young Nelasia was accustomed from an early age to being bumped and occasionally picked on. When the little girl was barely a year and a half old, not yet able to form sentences, a Jedi Watchman and his Padawan came through on a routine trip to search for any Force-sensitive children and, hopefully, to return them to the Jedi Temple.
The remote world hadn't had such a visit in quite awhile, but nevertheless, several people volunteered to have their children tested. Nelasia was one of these, and the Jedi discovered that the little girl was indeed Force sensitive. Excited at their discovery--it being one of the first they'd made on the tour--they asked her parent's permission to take the one year old back to Coruscant with them for training, making sure to warn them of the consequences of the decision. With four older children to take care of, and their youngest child unlikely to find any better option in life, the decision was a difficult, but a logical one.
They sent Nelasia to Coruscant with the Jedi, but not before giving her the only thing they could to take with her: a tattooed diamond, a custom of her people, to signify the honor that they believed would be hers in the future. At first, like most of the young children brought to the Temple, Nelasia was unsure what to make of the change in her surroundings. But children heal quickly, no matter what race they come from, and before long she had fully accepted her new life and was living with the Jedi in perfect peace. Well, most of the time, at least.
As Nelasia grew older, she was introduced to the broad concepts of the Jedi: the Force, how it worked, the peace and justice that the Order sought to uphold. By the time she was seven, she was engaged in classes on everyday subjects like math, and also in more in-depth studies on the nature of the Force and its application to her life. Her favorite subjects have always been extending her senses, in the Force and otherwise, and also telepathy. The art of it intrigues her.
She was a good student, willing and eager to please, and she advanced quickly in her classes. During her studies, she has found time to make many friends from all over the Temple, and her friends form a large part of her life, as they often form her sounding-board for new ideas, philosophies she is trying to make sense of, and put up with her excessive chattiness on subjects she loves. Her best friend of all is a young human girl, Fletcher. With an unusual name and unusual goals in life, Fletcher and Nelasia are rarely separated. Nelasia also has older friends--from Olis, a Twi'lek padawan who just recently graduated, to Cornelia, a young human knight, Nelasia has made friends all over the place
As she's gotten older, she's become more concerned with attracting a Master, because she fears being sent into the Corps instead of getting to pursue the Jedi career she dreams of. But ultimately, she doesn't worry about it too much, because she is confident in her own abilities and knows that if she does end up Master-less, her actions will still decide her ultimate destiny as is best.
RP Sample:
Nelasia bit her lip, concentrating hard on the rock that sat, stubbornly unperturbed by all her efforts, in the center of a carefully dilineated circle in front of her feet. There were several other younglings on each side of her, each one of them also concentrating on his own pebble, trying with almost as little success as she to raise it into the air.
"See the layers of the Force around your stone, Nelasia," the gentle voice of her instructor, Master Kota, said, accompanied by a soothing encouragement that wrapped its way around the young girl. "Envision it lifting before you try to lift it in reality."
With that, the Master passed on, and Nelasia shut her eyes, doing as the Master had suggested, feeling its rise with the sense the Force had given her, seeing the eddies in the Force that surrounded the rock. She heard a soft plink, and her eyes popped open as she stared down at her rock, delighted to see that it was an inch away from where it had been--at the very least, she'd moved it. That was progress.
