Name: Naiya Kymeri
Race: human (Korun)
Age: 15
Height: 5'3'' (1,6m)
Weight: 105 lbs. (47,6 kg)
Appearance:
((This picture is copyrighted by deviantart. I did not make it, or have any rights on it. I am merely a fan of the art.))
Naiya still lookes very juvenile, her face slightly rounded, with large, almond-shaped brown eyes and a small, slightly broadened nose. Her skin is quite dark and she has dark brown to black hair that she braids back and up a little in order to keep it out of her face strictly, wearing it in an orderly rasta hairstyle (see picture).
One of the braids, however, is not held up with the others, but flows over her left shoulder in the style appropriate for a human Padawan.
During missions or very focused training, however, it can get messed up a little and some strands of her hair might fall into her face. Naiya's hairstyle is both practical, as it keeps the hair out of her face, and sets a nice accent to the shape of her head, underlining her naturally slim neck.
She is a pretty girl no doubt, but still a bit awkward in her movements, with very long arms and legs that give her appearance an unfinished, still growing look, maybe also because she has not discovered her femininity yet. Her hips are still relatively slim, and her breasts rather flat. Once she grows up emotionally and with that, also starts growing out of her still juvenile, slightly boyish body, she might become a real beauty, wrapping men around her finger. For now, she gives the impression of a tomboy, as her ellbows and knees are often scratched and her shape is clearly more that of an adolescent than that of an adult.
She wears the traditional Jedi Padawan clothing, a long, brown robe, with a light, gray-beige vest underneath. When she resides on very warm planets, she will change the sand-coloured, wide Jedi-shirt with a smaller, red top that has no sleeves (see picture), but keep the vest still. Often she combines these tops with long, equally red protective sleeves, that she sometimes also wears underneath the wide Jedi shirt, if it's very cold. These clothes are mostly combined with light, brown or gray trousers of leather or rough cloth and high, dark brown leather boots, that are more practical than pretty.
Her lightsaber and some other equipment (like a med pack on missions, f.e.) she keeps in a utility belt that she wears around her waist.
Personality:
Naiya is a rather quiet, calm young woman. She has not yet passed the test to be a Jedi Knight since she has not reached the age and amount of training a Knight should have, and is therefore an average experienced, but still not perfectly trained young Jedi Padawan.
One of the main features of her personality is the constant interplay of her two sides, as if something inside her constantly flipped a coin. She can be perfectly calm and almost stoic if she has to, for example during a mission, but what many people don't realize is that deep down inside, Naiya has a great sense of humour and, especially, sarcasm. She often has to force herself to take threats more seriously. Due to her young age and her resulting lack of experience, she can easily underestimate an adversary and tends to be not quite as carefull as she should have been in some situations. After rushing into a trap, she however can lose confidence in herself and then tends to hold back too much, endangering others because she refuses to follow her first, probably right instinct and tries to play it all safe.
Unlike some other Jedi, Naiya is not at all in any grey zone. She may have some mean or sarcastic, maybe even zynical, thoughts from time to time, but when it comes to her code of honour, it is purely white. She has been in training to be a Jedi all her life, being discovered as she was merely one year old, and has only during a short period within her puberty ever questioned the Jedi code (see bio). Since then, she believes in it fully and would never do anything to betray the order. As the young girl has only few attachments to the world, the dark side would have a hard job getting a hold of her, but the feel of loss or impotence could maybe drive her to a darker edge one day, placing her in the same grey zone that can weaken any Jedi.
Naiya is a compassionate, warm, caring, but also detached young adolescent. She can let go of any emotional pain through some sound meditations and has never had a really close attachment in her life, like a close or even loving relationship, except for her late master, whose loss has been just recently. However, she has started to accept it and as a consequence, let him go.
This detachment is her advantage when it comes to being a good Jedi, but it can be to her disadvantage when it comes to understanding people's actions. After all, Naiya would never understand why people would die out of love for someone else or how they could get corrupted by their feelings - since to her, these are no issues. She has of course some friends within the Order, but none are so close that they might become an issue.
Birth place: Haruun Kal / close to Oran Mas in a village (see bio)

Rank: Padawan
Lightsaber:
Naiya just made her first own lightsaber. It has a rather long, but elegantly slim handle, allowing her quick moves, both single and both-handed. She mostly uses it backhanded, but due to the slim, long handle, she can also whirl it around during combat and use it normally. Due to the long handle, the technique supported by her lightsaber is more defensive than offensive. It is single-bladed.

Birth and Discovery (Age 0-1)
Naiya was born into a Korun family, that resided in a small town called Zorrjin Mer1, close to the town of Oran Mas on the planet Haruun Kal. Like all Korunnai, she was force sensitive - which was therefore something completely normal - and since she was born into a nomadic tribe, no blood sample was taken at her birth. Her original first name is not Naiya, but Jacía.
However, when young Jacía was but a year old, the Kymeri family got into a fight with Balawai soldiers, and most of the males were wiped out. Terrified for their lives and their children, the women tried to flee over the plains, but they were persecuted. In the struggle, Jacía's mother was killed and Jacía/Naiya fell into the long grass on the plateau.
The rest of the tribe flew in havoc, some of them barely getting away, most of them slaughtered in the process. To those who lived, Naiya, like the rest of her family, was one of the losses of war as they chose to unite with another Korun tribe.
But for some reason, it was not Naiya's time to die, yet. On their way back, counting their own casualties and picking up their wounded, the Balawai soldiers found one of their own, who cradled a small child, a girl, of the Korun tribe they had just killed. Although deep hatred lived between the two peoples, although they had just killed a lot of children, none of the soldiers was cruel enough to slaughter a cute one-year-old, that trustfully looked at her capturers, not even trying to cry, as if she were still with her family. Maybe it was Naiya's luck that she did not cry in those precious moments, and smiled instead. She was taken to a hospital in Pelek Baw, the capital of Haruun Kal, and taken care of. Since there was no knowledge about her first name, and only the name of her tribe was known to her capturers, the baby girl was unceremoniously named "Naiya".
Her bloodsample showed that she already had a great connection to the force, and since there was no family left to claim her, and not many Balawai were eager to raise a dark skinned child, even if they were not going to kill her in cold blood, too, she was gladly given to the Jedi when they came to take her with them.
Early youngling years (Age 2-7)
Naiya grew up at the Jedi temple, not knowing about her legacy, and never asking for it, either. This was her home, as far as she could remember, the Jedi Order was the only family she had ever known, and the Jedi Code the only law she had ever learned to follow.
She learned to open up to the force at the same time she learned to speak and walk. Because of her not learning those things back at her tribe, there is nothing left of her native culture, at least not consciously.
Naiya was loved at the Jedi Temple, cared for and sheltered. She grew to be a calm, but very sunny child, always curious for the world outside as well as inside the temple walls.
When she became old enough to stand on her two legs, move, and hold a lightsaber, her youngling training began - at the age of three. The use of the force came naturally to her, because she had been learning it longer than she could remember properly. Soon, she stepped ahead most of her classmates, being the best of her year when she reached the age of seven.
She also became sort of a leader within the younglings, talking for the group or stepping in front of newcomers and weaker ones. With the Jedi younglings, there was not a lot of bullying, but kids are kids and sometimes it was necessary that someone stepped up. Based on a strong sense of justice and comradice, she soon emerged to be this person.
Late youngling years (Age 8-12)
But, of course, it only took the other younglings so long to adapt to the Jedi Order and catch up with Naiya's training. She lost a lot of influence when they became older, and although she was still very focused on keeping the balance within her group and stopping fights before they even started, she no longer was the leader figure of the group. Naiya had always been friendly with everyone, but she had not focused on getting a specific friend, and while, slowly, smaller groups were forming within the younglings, she stood often alone, mediating between groups or training her skills, which now came a lot harder to her. She had never had a problem to learn, she had started very early with training and the basics came natural to her when others just arrived. But now they had caught up and were more used to train hard than she was.
Naiya gave it her best shot and she managed to stay an average youngling. Her special talents seemed to be in two areas mainly: She was extremely good at adapting any swift, physical movements, and accelerating, reinforcing or improving them with the force. Also she showed quite some talent with healing abilities.
Early Padawan years (Age 13-15=today) - Naiya's first master
And then she turned 13, and like most others, she was chosen to be a padawan. Her first Master, Val Jaquedo, was a Knight guardian who had chosen her for her swiftness, eagerness when it came to new knowledge, and her strong sense for justice although he recognized that her strong healing talents and physical abilities would also make her a good sentinel.
He took her with him on his many missions, and she improved in the ways of the lightsaber. Her master herself was preferring the defensive fighting style of Soresu, but he also had a basic knowledge in Niman, which proved to be the perfect fighting style for Naiya.
As he himself had no great theoretical knowledge of the force, preferring the practical aspects of being a Jedi, Val Jaquedo did not miss Naiya's obvious talent for both aspects and gave his best to offer her theoretical trainings whenever they returned to the temple. He would not hear about her protests about the matter - "If you don't do it, then why should I focus on meditation all day?" - and pushed her further on to exploit her own strengths, not his ones.
Despite their many struggles, especially since Naiya grew up and came to puberty, rebelling against anything she had accepted before, the master and his young padawan were very close. Naiya was Jaquedo's first padawan and to him, she was the daughter he might never have. Of course, her rebellion was not easy on her master, but he managed to calm her down most of the time.
It was one day in the thirteenth year of Naiya's life, when they were supposed to meet up with a fellow Jedi, a Sentinel who was transporting young children to the Jedi temple, after one of their missions, that Naiya for the first time realized that she, too, must have had a family. She had known for a long time where the children came from, but never given it much thought.
But on this travel homewards to the temple, she met one of the future younglings, a six year old girl, devastatingly homesick and full of anger. Naiya realized that she, too, must have had a home before she came to the Jedi, a family, parents. She started to question everything she had been taught to believe in, almost leaving the Jedi Order as she realized that she had been taken without the consent of her parents, simply because she was kind of a war prisoner, as weird as it sounded concerning a one year old girl.
She was determined to get to her home planet, and search for her parents and her tribe. It was then that Jaquedo had to meet his greatest challenge.
He agreed that she go to Haruun Kal, under one premise: That he go with her. Naiya was taken aback, she had imagined him to be furious, but she agreed on his terms rather than just running away.
When they arrived at Haruun Kal, she realized that the stories of war were not just as shallow as she had thought they were, she realized the chaos, the pain that was part of these people's everyday life. And she realized that she could not live with hating one half of the population just because she shared genes with the other half. Her Jedi training and, even more important, her strong sense of justice and balance had sunk in deeper in her subconscious than she had realized.
Downcast and somehow tired, but also older, she followed Jaquedo back to the Jedi temple, to her real home, her real family.
Her bond with her master had grown even stronger now, and after a short while, she picked up courage again and showed a certain determination to complete her training.
One and a half year later - Naiya had just turned 15 - Jaquedo and his padawan were sent to the planet of Tatooine, in order to resolve a dangerous situation of gang war between two segments of the Hutt family, that endangered the economy not only in the entire system, but also in the rest of the Outer Rim. Naiya had grown into a meddlesom young girl, eager to prove herself she jumped right into the danger zone, underestimating her opponents. When she realized her mistake, it was almost too late, but her master had her back and got her out of the fight. It did not need a serious talk, Naiya knew she had failed and she promised not to ignore her master's orders again.
They walked into a trap, and her master ordered her to step back, and get out of there. Naiya's feelings told her to stay, to fight alongside Jaquedo like she had done so many times before, but she had just endangered them both when she had not listened to his orders. She could not do that to him again. Although she wanted to do otherwise, she had not the stomach to stand up to her master and help him, and ran as ordered.
She went into hiding, still being hunted by the Hutt clan, and waited for her master to find her again. When he had not shown up after two days, she started looking for him instead, but it took her almost a week to find out about his death.
She did not know what to do, but lucky for her, the Jedi Council had already sent a searchparty for their missing knight and padawan. Naiya was found and brought back to the temple. No one blamed her for following orders, but herself.
It took her quite some time to accept what had happened, and how she had failed. She spent this time practicing in the temple, with the Counsulars, meditating and training her force skills rather than her light saber techniques. The Council had not yet decided about which master to take her next, and so she had plenty of time to deal with her loss.
She grew more serious, calmer, and more self-controlled in this time. Now, she finally is ready to move on and find a new master to complete her training.
((1 I made that town up, but the city of Oran Mas exists. I hope that is okay, there are only two towns proposed in Wookiepedia and I was pretty sure that there were more on the planet than just the two.))

The meditation room was wonderfully quiet. Naiya sat there in perfect peace, her breath almost unaudible, all her vital functions reduced to their minimum. Slowly, she reached out with the force, sensing the room, sensing the few, apart from her own empty meditation seats, sensing her own lifeforce within the room. Then she dove in deep, calming herself even further, letting go of anything that held her in this world.
The future was, like always, something almost impossible for her to see, yet she had practiced it almost daily for the last weeks. On her forehead, unnoticed by the padawan, appeared small pearls of sweat, as she concentrated hard, diving into her own subconscious even deeper, letting the force stream through her mind.
Her hands rested calmly on her knees, while she sat cross-legged, her breath almost vanished. There, there it was... a figure... two-legged... tall... But who was it?
The padawan's body started to tremble slightly, as her mind gave in all the effort she had inside her, pushing herself deeper into the meditation. The figure came closer. It wore the Jedi robes... brown, wide... It towered up over her... But who was it?
The disturbance in the force hit her like a punch to the face, shortly before the door crashed open. "Naiya, are you in here? Ah, there you are!" Ungently ripped out of her trance, Naiya shrieked and came to her senses. "Are you out of your mind? Can't you see I'm meditating?"
Angrily, she pushed herself out of her sitting position. "Why, had any luck this time? Would've been the first time you'd actually seen anything except for fog, right?"
Naiya muttered frustrated and gave the newcomer, a padawan at around her age, an irritated look. Raziel was already sixteen years old, but in his mind, he probably was just twelve. "Maybe I was?" She gave back sharper than intended, but Razial just grinned. "Riiiight. What was it?"
"I could clearly see that in case you do that ever again, I'm going to kill you," the young Korun snapped, grabbing her cloak and moving over to paned wall, letting her gaze sweep out to one of the many skylines of Coruscant. With two of her fingers, she massaged her right temple in order to soothe the headache she was getting after being pulled out of a meditation so abruptly - and also in order to calm herself down. Anger was not the Jedi way. Not even with a jerk like Raziel.
Raziel just laughed at her. "What did you want, anyways? Are you just here to annoy me, or is it something else?" Her voice was less sharp now, but still perceptibly frustrated.
Raziel came closer from behind, and, towering over her slim and dainty figure, started to brotherly massage her shoulders. "Relax from time to time, will you? I was taking a break and wanted to check when you had eaten for the last time." - "Breakfast." As his strong, but skilled hands took away her pain not only by massage, but also as she suspected with a little help of the force, she sighed and closed her eyes. They were extremely tired, although she had had them closed most of the day.
Raziel turned her around and faced her with a now rather worried look. "Naiya... have you skipped lunch AGAIN? It's almost sundown, what were you doing all day?"
Naiya shrugged. "I was trying to get a vision. I find it less hard with a full stomach. But now you've already spoiled my concentration, we can just as well go and get some food." She punched him slightly at the upper arm. "But I'm telling you, you do that again, and you're going to regret it! Be a little more careful before you kick people out of their trance!"
"Of course, Master Kymeri." Raziel rolled his eyes, as the two of them stepped out in the hallway and walked towards the dining hall in unison. As an answer to his comment, Naiya slapped her fellow padawan playfully, and between them arose a small, playful fight as both tried to force push the other one towards the wall. None of them succeeded, because their concentration was broken by their evenly starting giggling. Giving up seemingly, Razial used Force Pull on his friend, only so slightly, that she stumbled due to her still Pushing at him. With a confused little shriek, she tripped towards him, but he caught her in time, and both started to laugh.
Outside the Jedi Temple, the sun slowly set over the everlasting havoc of the capital.
