OK, I am in NO WAY trying to pass this off as canon. Only Lucas knows what Yoda's species really is, and he's not revealing it any time soon. Or maybe he really doesn't know what it is, and people just think he does because he created Star Wars. Either way, this cannot be confirmed or denied.
With that out of the way, here we go.
"Yoda's Species"
Official name: Anisodactyl (from Star Wars Fanon, linky)
Home Planet: Dagobah (this explains why Yoda chose Dagobah, and not some other random planet in wild space)
Famous Members: Yoda (duh), Yaddle
Average Height: 2.1 feet (Yoda's height, according to Wookieepedia)
Average Weight: 37 lbs. (Yoda's weight, according to Wookieepedia)
Lifespan: 900 years max
Maturation Age: 180 (stuck a 0 to 18)
Natural Force Sensitivity: No (Yoda did not originally know he was force sensitive)
Appearance: Anisodactyls had dark green skin and very little hair. They are very short and stubby. They always looked older than their actual age.
Personality: The species was knowledgeable and spiritual. They generally acted wise and sage like, and usually were. They constantly searched for knowledge. They were also very peaceful.
History: Anisodactyls evolved from frogs on Dagobah. They lived peacefully until smugglers found the planet in 896 BBY (Yoda's birth year). This created contact with the rest of the galaxy.
They lived mostly in harmony with humans, rarely leaving Dagobah, until a plague hit the planet and killed most of the species. Yoda was the last of his kind.
