Kira Jeseledai was thoroughly enjoying her favorite time of the day, namely morning. It was a bright and sunny 6:30 AM on Coruscant, with sun shining in through the windows of the Jedi Temple, casting beautiful rays onto the ornate floors. The cafeteria was no exception, and was filled with the usual morning crowd of early risers, eating their breakfasts.
For the Tholothian Knight, breakfast was easily the best meal of the day. Everything felt fresh and new in the morning, and she was awake and bright-eyed. It felt extremely good to be out there and about, rising early. It made Kira feel healthy and lively, and she enjoyed that a great deal.
The caramel-skinned girl carried herself across the room with a tray of food, her lithe form moving with a casual grace. At a glance it was easy to sum up her body in two words: Long and lean. Her curves were extraordinarily minimal, but she had a nice face at least, wearing a broad and omnidirectional smile. Her brown and tan Jedi robes were neat and clean, and her reddish-brown boots were neatly polished. The Tholoth headdress on top of her head, dubbed 'Mister Tentacles' by a Mirialan Youngling, was also quite clean and shiny, the dangling tendrils a lovely whitish-turquoise.
On the tray was a waffle doused in syrup and butter, two pieces of bacon, an orange, and an egg served sunny-side up. Also a cup of coffee served tooth-rottingly sweet, albeit without milk.
Kira sat down at a table in the sun and closed her eyes, inhaling the aroma of the food. She let out a soft murmur of pleasure before pulling out her sketchpad and working on a portrait of her friend Rana that she'd started not long ago. The Togruta woman's birthday was coming up in a few weeks and Kira hoped to surprise her with a work of art.
She started to sketch in between bites of breakfast and sips of coffee, not expecting company.

Dan was up early as normal, he had gotten up just before sunrise and made his way to the halls where he would watch the sunrise, it came up over the tips of the buildings though he saw the light long before the sun was actually up. Sometimes he disliked the buildings in the way. But he learned to get past that and it was made up for by the view of the gleaming planet when he was in space which was often.
But for now his stomach was pleading for food so instead of his normal routine of getting a little bit of saber practice in before eating. He entered the lunch hall that was rather full this morning, of coarse Dan wasn't used to coming in at this time of a little after 6:30, he normally came in an hour later after practice. He stood at the counter picking out his meal for the morning and realized he should visit early more often for the better choices.
Dan walked away with a Sausage, bacon, Hot cocoa, a Bantha steak Med rare with hash browns and eggs. For him this wasn't a lot, but that was normally after an hour of different combat and force training, only after thinking about that he realized he may have had to much food on his trey.
He looked for a seat somewhere and stopped at a female Tholothian who seemed exceptionally happy this morning, that alone made Dan smile. He didn't have much of anyone to talk to today and a bright spirit would be a nice associate for him so early in the day. He looked for another second noticing she was a slender woman, but saw nothing that told him to leave her alone so he approached with a warm smile of his own, Looks good, now i wish i had gotten some waffles. Is this seat taken?

Kira looked up and saw a Jedi about her age, and tall. He was blonde and had a beard, rather scraggly actually, and was rather tan and athletic. On the whole, he didn't look bad, but the dark-skinned woman didn't see him as distractingly attractive. Not that there were many people she saw that way, but it did happen now and then.
The Tholothian Jedi Knight smiled and motioned to the seat across from her.
"Go right ahead, I don't mind some company."
The work on her sketch stopped, with the outline of a Togruta's montrals and face completed. It stopped at the breast, forming a bust, though Kira had plans to finish it up and make it full-body. There was plenty of room on the page after all. And then she'd do line art, and then she'd color and shade it.
The Tholothian ate another bite of syrupy waffle and couldn't resist a small 'mmmm' from sneaking out after she swallowed the delicious goodness.
"My name is Kira, I don't think I've met you before, but it's a big Temple. What's your name?"
Kira smiled warmly as she delivered her usual bright questions. Her tone was airy and carefree, and there wasn't a hint of seriousness in her tone.

"Go right ahead, I don't mind some company."
Thanks! Dan gave a bow of head and pulled the seat out and sat down. She took a bite of her Waffle around the time he downed half of the smallish sausage; and just as he was about to ask her name she gave it to him with a question of her own, "My name is Kira, I don't think I've met you before, but it's a big Temple. What's your name?" Dan nodded, I'm Dan and I doubt we've met, but it is a bit Temple, I've gotten lost once or twice. He said with his normal heavy yet joking tone. It's nice to meet you. He said as he brought a piece of bacon to his mouth and took a bite.
He looked at Kira trying to guess her age, she looked somewhere around his age, but he knew eyes could be deceptive, he knew several Jedi who 'looked' his age but where far from it. You're a Knight aren't you? He asked trying to make an estimate on her age. It seemed like forever sense he was Knighted but it wasn't really that long ago, in fact he could count the years on his fingers. It was mainly due to the amount of time away from the temple he spent. He was happy to be having normal conversation with another Jedi that was in a good mood.

Kira's smile widened. When she answered, she didn't even try to hide the pride in her voice.
"Yes, I was just Knighted last month."
Ever since she was a little girl on New Holstice, she'd longed to say those words, to be able to loudly and proudly say 'I am a Jedi Knight.' And now she could. Kira had made her childhood dream come true, and how many people could say that?
It had been a long road full of a wide variety of emotions, but she'd made it through the good and the bad, and she'd learned to savor the former and recover from the latter. In a way, that made her wise? It was hard to think of herself as such. In fact, she didn't. Kira was always the bubbly idealistic one, slightly stupid at times even. But she had a good heart.
That's what her master had always said.
Kira was pleased to reflect on how well her experience with her master had been. She could look back on that and feel proud.
She speared a piece of bacon and nibbled at it, eyeing her sketch again and wondering if she should adjust the pose she'd had in mind. Maybe something with action?
Belatedly the Tholothian woman realized she was not being very good company, so she apologized.
"Sorry, I hope you don't mind that I'm drawing. I'm probably not the best company right now. But you can talk to me, and I'll listen. Honest."

"Yes, I was just Knighted last month." Her smile went from big to biggest, he could tell she was proud of her rank, he felt the same way when he was first nighted too. Dan couldn't help but smile too, I remember that feeling! He said to Kira and took a bite of the steak this time. Dan found himself looking at the scetch pad that Kira was drawing on, she noticed that she was being quiet, infact both of the two weren't talking much. "Sorry, I hope you don't mind that I'm drawing. I'm probably not the best company right now. But you can talk to me, and I'll listen. Honest." Dan shook his head, No. No, keep going.... Do you draw often cause your doing very well. I know if i tried to draw anything I'd fail horribly. He said with a smile craining his neck a little bit to get a better view of the scetch.
You baseing the picture off someone you know? He asked looking at it a few seconds longer before taking a drink of the hot cocoa and continueing on his meal trying to keep the conversation going.

Kira nodded.
"I draw all the time really it's a hobby in my free time. I guess I always just liked to draw, and color. Never grew out of it." The Tholothian woman punctuated the last statement with a quick peal of laughter, something short of full mirth but above a mere giggle.
As to the drawing itself, Kira hadn't filled in the details yet, so it could have been just about any Togruta Jedi. But once she finished the chiseled jaw and the ornate white slash marks on the face, and the infamous scar Rana took pride in, it would become more recognizable.
"Yes, it's my friend Rana. We grew up together on the Rhen Var enclave as Younglings. She always hated the cold. She's a Guardian now, a very awesome person. Her birthday is coming up, so I wanted to make a drawing for her. She's really modest though, so a portrait of her is going to be a little awkward. I might draw myself next to her."
Kira grinned a little, imagining the look on Rana's face when she saw the art. It was going to be a grand moment all right.
"You should try drawing," She advised. "Everyone starts somewhere. My mom probably still has all my lame first pictures. You shouldn't feel ashamed of that. Besides, you'll get better with practice."

"I draw all the time really it's a hobby in my free time. I guess I always just liked to draw, and color. Never grew out of it." She said as Dan watched the picture become more detailed as she made touch ups and detail work to the picture.

Dan noted that Kira was apparently very considerate of others, a few moments ago she was considerate of Dan's presence and now of her friend, this was a good trait.
"You should try drawing, Everyone starts somewhere. My mom probably still has all my lame first pictures. You shouldn't feel ashamed of that. Besides, you'll get better with practice." Dan smiled, I'll take that into consideration, but i suppose we all have different hobby's, mines flying, great view up there. Dan has many fond memories of the view of the stars, he even had images of them on Holo-cams that he still looked at from time to time. You said you're from the Rhen Var enclave, how long have you been on Coruscant? I haven't visited that Enclave, well any Enclaves yet, are they like this temple?

Flying. Now that sounded like an interesting hobby to Kira. She'd learned the basics as a Padawan, like most did, but she'd never really excelled at it. She found it a little scary to be honest, being so high up, surrounded by the vacuum of space with only a thin metal shell between you and nothingness.
Before she could comment on it, the human changed the topic to Rhen Var, and that was a topic Kira was perfectly willing to discuss.
Considering the Sith had taken the planet by force not long ago and that many Jedi had died defending it, someone might have expected Kira to be touchy or defensive over the topic. That could not have been further from the truth. To Kira, Rhen Var was good memories.
"It's a lot colder!" She said laughing. "But seriously, it's like the Temple, but a lot smaller. There weren't nearly as many people there. We were a pretty small but tight-knit group. There was a lot of snow though, and I adore snow. It's fluffy, and the flakes melt on your tongue. I miss it a lot now."
Kira sighed as she skewered another bite of her breakfast, this time some egg, pairing it with bacon and devouring it before she continued to talk about Rhen Var.
"I'm sad the Sith attacked it. Some of my friends didn't make it out, and I miss them. But I'll always have good memories of Rhen Var. When the war is over you should definitely visit. There are some pretty interesting ruins on its surface."

But I'll always have good memories of Rhen Var. When the war is over you should definitely visit. There are some pretty interesting ruins on its surface." He nodded, The only place i've ever been to like that was to, Ilum to collect my saber crystal. It was beutiful though...if not much colder, i wore like three heavy coats. He said with a chuckle, teying to stay off the subject of her friends death, he didn't think she would be hurt if he asked, but it was generally a subject that didn't need to be disscussed. Hopefully we'll start re-taking worlds soon. If we do you can garentee I'll be part of Rhen Var's liberating team. He said taking a drink and then a bite of the steak. He hated this war, but he was part of it, helping restore the peice and balance. How long has it been, sense you came to Coruscant?

"I'm not really one for fighting, so I probably won't be there when you do the whole attacking thing. But I'd come in and rebuild."
Kira chewed her last bite of waffle and swallowed, raising her cup of overly sweet coffee to her lips with a dark-skinned hand, letting the liquid flow down her throat and into her stomach, where it burbled around nicely, mingling with the other parts of her breakfast.
The Tholothian woman answered the question in the easiest way she knew how, her chipper voice not faltering at all as she spoke.
"I came over a few weeks after the attack on Rhen Var, and I've been here ever since."
With the egg gone, Kira dredged the last of the bacon in the syrup remaining on her plate, pulling it through like some fisherman with a net trying to catch fish in the ocean. Only in this case she was guaranteed a catch of syrup, unless the bacon fell off of her fork.
She raised it to her lips and chewed it over, savoring the bacony goodness with closed eyes, letting out another 'mmmm.' When she opened her hazel eyes again she fixed them onto the human and grinned.
"I love breakfast. Don't you? The best meal of the day."

"I came over a few weeks after the attack on Rhen Var, and I've been here ever since." He gave another nod, he understood that leaving a home after it had been distroyed would have been hard for her he didn't say anything though.
He finished off his food around the same time that Kira was, and couldn't hep but give his own smile when she did, it was funny and somewhat cute he thought. "I love breakfast. Don't you? The best meal of the day." Kira asked Dan, and he answered honestly, Yes, although i normally eat it a hour or two from now after some self training. But i'm not sure which meal is my favorite. Lunch is a bit two quick, but diner has a lot more options. He said pointing out benefits for each meal but came back around to agree with Kira on breakfast, But i suppose Breakfast it really good! He smiled as he tried to come up with another conversation topic.
So as a newly apointed Knight, have you desided a path yet, you said you weren't much for fighting, and who's to blame you?, But do you have any goals? A teacher perhaps?

Kira nodded.
She didn't do much training. She was already fully proficient in Shii Cho, and her Niman was decent. For what she did, her skills were perfectly adequate. Younglings didn't exactly need expert duelists helping them with saber katas.
"Am I that easy to read?" Kira asked with a giggle, finding it funny that he'd so easily guessed what she did. Or where her ambitions lay.
Yes, Kira Jeseledai was a teacher. An assistant to the Youngling Instructors technically, usually carrying out simple instruction and minding clans of Younglings while their regular instructors were otherwise disposed. It was good to be generally useful and lend a hand.
"I'm a Youngling Instructor's Assistant. I like to work with children. They're just so bright and funny, and I feel like I can actually understand them. I hope to make Master some day so I can become a full Instructor. It might be a little hard though, since I don't have time for a Padawan. But I think the Council will be understanding. They're all very wise, and I'm sure they'd do the right thing."
Kira had a child's faith in the Council, that they would always do what was right and honorable. She stood by their decisions even without all the facts. That was just the way the Tholothian woman was by nature. She was also naturally inclined to work with children.
It was just where her talents lay.
"How about you? What do you do?" She asked cheerfully.

"Am I that easy to read?" Kira asked with a giggle and Dan shook his head with a slight smile, It was more a guess. It was that or something in the Corps. He pointed out before she continued.

Children are great, i still with i was a kid at times, life was much easier back then! Dan remembered back to his days in the clans and just before Padawan ship. Kira asked the next question, "How about you? What do you do?" Dan cleaned up his area of the table and stacked the used napkins, plate, bowl, and a mug onto his trey as she as asking. Well, i too am a Knight; as you probably guessed, I'm a Sentenal/blade, been on several missions now, i spend almost all my time in the temple, normally studieing, training, and eating tell I'm givin a mission. Dan thought about how little he actually did and began to think he needed to find more to do then wander the halls and act out of habit.

"Oh wow, that's interesting," Kira said, without a hint of sarcasm in her eager voice. It was completely and utterly sincere, taking everything precisely as it was without question, doubt, or mockery of any kind.
It wasn't even a bland and uninterested reply, one of those garden variety mediocre responses. This was genuine interest, as Kira found the topic rather fascinating. It transported her back to her childhood when she'd been riveted, glued to the holonet receiver for episodes of 'Padawan Adventures' when it came on the air every weekend.
While the details of the show had grown fuzzy up until she'd re-watched it during some of her free time as a Padawan, the overall impression had been very much alive, and Kira saw the Blades as an extension of that romantic ideal of a daring swashbuckler of a Jedi getting in sword fights with Sith and fighting off hordes of mercenaries.
Admittedly this particular kind of adventure had little appeal for her own life. While she thought it made for an interesting story, Kira Jeseledai wasn't keen on the idea of actually killing a Sith or in the idea of fighting. She didn't thrive on conflict. Putting the Tholothian Consular into battle was like putting a potted houseplant outside on Hoth, an experience not exactly conducive to the well-being of the living thing.
But Kira could still find the idea exciting.
While the natural question to ask might have revolved around the war, Kira didn't go in that line of thought. Instead her mind went straight back to the territory she knew so well from sitting up in her room late at night in her pajamas and watching holonet shows on her datapad from under a blanket.
"There was this show I watched when I was little, called Padawan Adventures. Is being a Blade anything like that? With sword fights and daring rescues?"

"Oh wow, that's interesting-" She said suprisingly interested in the topic, Dan had figured that a Jedi with little knowledge of the fighting area of the order wouldn't be extra enterested in it, he was actually quite wrong, Kira was enterested and followed with a question, "There was this show I watched when I was little, called Padawan Adventures. Is being a Blade anything like that? With sword fights and daring rescues?" Dan smiled thinking about some of his own 'adventures' as it was put. A Jedi may not crave exitment, adventure, battles and duels, but it seamed they always found a way of cropping up in a Jedi's life, especially the life of a Jedi in Dan's area and placment of the order.
From time to time... he started as he moved the trey off to one side of the table so he didn't knock anything over and that it was out of his way. I've had a few Exiting missions i guess, Rescued a senator with me Former master once, I've been ambushed, undercover, aboard old dead starships...Just to name a few. He said then finished his line of thought, The best part is i've been to almost every corner of the Galaxy at one time or another. He said and then thought up another question staying on somewhat the same subject, What about you?, What worlds beside's Rhen Var and Coruscant have you been to, if any? He asked now leaning back into his chair a bit more now that he didn't need to keep his face over his trey and plate.

"Wow," Kira said, her dark lips pursing as she said the exclamation. "That IS interesting."
Further commentary was cut short out of the desire to answer the question, which she prefaced with with a quick 'let me think' as she totalled them all up in her mind.
New Holstice, Rhen Var, and Coruscant didn't count naturally.
"Uh, well Ilum was the first if you don't count where I was born and Rhen Var. Not sure if it counts though, because it's still a Jedi planet. So apart from that the first was Bandomeer, a mining world in the Outer Rim."
The Tholothian woman wracked her brain again trying to remember the sequence of events. Next had come... Coruscant for the first time, and then there'd been Bonadan, and Ryloth, and Corellia. Or was it Ryloth, Bonadan, Corellia? No, it was the first way.
"And then Corellia, Ryloth, Bonadan. No wait.... Bonadan, Ryloth, Corellia. Yes, that's it. Then a couple other planets. Haven't been to Tholoth yet though, and I want to visit there."
Kira tapped her lips with the eraser of her pencil, moving the utensil out of the way for her sip of coffee before she resumed the talking, mentally wondering how she'd be received on Tholoth if she ever went.
Oh well. It wasn't really relevant.

Dan chuckled as she tried to find her thought. Corellia, i was born there, Dan pointed out and then continued, I went to Ryloth too, just before i was Knighted. Dan thought about other locations he had been to, Tatooine, Alderaan that was nice... he said, it was true, the planet was nice, the wound he received while there not so much. Even though Alderaan was nice, my memories of it weren't so good. He chuckled, I fell onto a rusty pipe, wasn't a pleasant feeling. He pointed out.

The Tholothian woman frowned sympathetically, though the expression quickly morphed into a sedate and sympathetic smile. It was that smile that said 'It's okay buddy, everything is fine now.' Normally people liked it, but Kira had, on occasion, met people who didn't like her smiles, of any kind.
Some of them said it was becoming of a Jedi, and that she should be somber and subdued, but Knight Jeseledai just couldn't live like that. She was what she was, and that was that. It wasn't up for debate, because even if she wanted to, she couldn't change her personality.
"You are all right now though? No permanent damage?"
Injuries were always unusual for Kira. In her life, all 24 years, she had never once been seriously injured. She'd never even broken a limb. Yes, she was lucky, and it helped that her duties were usually light. In fact, her Trial of the Flesh hadn't been physical. It had involved her first mentor dying, something that still made the dark-skinned woman sad when she thought about it.
But Elteria was one with the Force now, in a better place.
Kira directed her full attention back onto Dan, with a smile.

"You are all right now though? No permanent damage?" Dan shook his head, No not really, couldn't use my arm for months went right through my shoulder, it's scarred ove but nothing that will eventually kill me if that's what you mean.
Dan said more or less eased by the fact that Kira did't cringe at the story, and there was something about her smile that seemed to make the air less tence. Dan thought he had heard of a way people could do that with the force.
Dan was ready to change the subject any way though, As a teachers assistant i would assume you don't get to actually leave the temple much, what exactly are those few occasitions you can leave? Dan asked wondering about how she had been to a few planets before without going on dangerous missions, at least he assumed she didn't go and dangeous missions as Padawan.
Youngling tours or field trips perhaps? He asked.
