Weight: 230 Pounds
Birth place: Bunduki
Appearance:
Clothing:
Zai Chu is an incredibly tall and muscular being. He is bald save for long strands of jet black hair in the middle of his head, which are tightly plaited into a long pony tail reaching all the way down to his bottom. He is Half Mirlaluka and has inherited one of their most noticeable traits. Unlike other sentients’ who view things via the use of their eyes Zai Chu see’s things through the force because of this he wears 2 bands of strong cloth which form an X shape across his eyes . Zai Chu prefers to not wear a top as he believes it’s sometimes restrictive of movement. On each of his upper arm areas he has a red band, in the same shade as the bands worn around his eyes for decorative purposes. Around his neck Zai Chu wears black rope which is twisted and tangled like the bands worn around his arms these are also for decoration. On his lower body he wears light weight and baggy trousers with a slivery black belt. Hanging from the belt are various ribbons in red and black. On his feet he sports sandals made of strong material but are incredibly light and wrap
Weaponry:
The first thing someone would notice about Zai Chu, besides his incredible size is how large his hands are. Not only are they some-what out of proportion to his body, they are wrapped in an incredibly durable and flexible cloth. The cloth wraps around shards of sharp metal which if used offensively can shred flesh from bone. While Zai Chu does not wear these all the time he does a lot of the time, only really removing the wrapping from his hands while doing domestic things.
Posture and Walking Style:
Zai Chu’s posture is very upright, his shoulders are back and his chest flares out, his hands are often clenched, not in an aggressive manor however people may see it as so the reason Zai does this is so that his arms keep tighter by his sides.
Zai walks with his head held high and in a very confident way. Because of his enormous size he tends to take incredibly long strides, and over very hard surfaces you can sometimes feel the floor jump when he places his foot down.
Personality:
Zai Chu is a thoughtful, cautious, and deliberative man. Who has little interest in personal gain or glory. Zai Chu has dedicated his life to peace, tranquillity and training in the art of Teräs Käsi or "Steel Hands".
Although Zai Chu is not school educated he is incredibly wise possessing wisdom far beyond his years. While he is a kind and peaceful man he is very set in his ways, this can often come across as stubborn about the choices he’s made.
Zai Chu leads an extremely fulfilling life, because of this he is a happy individual. Due to his Disciplined and almost prehistoric lifestyle choices Zai is very serious and is rarely seen laughing. Zai has never been seen showing large amounts of emotion due to his past however Zai Chu is a very complex person who exerts his frustrations through intense physical training regimes.
His life-style has given him very little social capability, sometimes making it very hard for those who meet him to easily hold conversations over extended periods. His extreme self-confidence and discipline seem to make people feel safe while in his presence.
The few people that have ever sought an audience with Zai have generally been after one thing, and that was training in the ways of Teräs Käsi. Although not everyone who found Zai were accepted to learn the ways of Teräs Käsi the few that did would usually quit before finishing/ This was usually due to his strict attitude, his demand for 110% focus and his intense, gruelling and draining training regimes.

Family History: The Chu Family
~Who are Chu~
The Chu family were from a long line of dedicated members of a group named “Followers of Palawa”. They spent generations studying the force and midi-chlorians, however, many members disliked some groups who used the Force, in particular The Jedi, as they believed they were responsible for the destruction of their home planet of Palawa. The FoP subsequently developed the martial art known as Teräs Käsi, and the Chu family were among the first to master it.
The Chu family, unlike other members of the FoP were pacifists and did not share the same hatred that others did for the Jedi or other force using groups.
~Exile and Execution~
After the destruction of their home planet the Chu family, like other members of the “FoP”, moved to the planet of Bunduki. There they met a family of Miraluka’s, and became good friends with them, and they even demonstrated to some of them how Teräs Käsi worked, and what it’s benefits were. Unbeknown to them the head of this Miralukan family was a Jedi who was still very much a part of the order.
This is where Zai Chu’s parents met; his father, a member of the Chu family fell in love with a woman from the Miralukan family. After many months they conceived a child together. When the FoP caught wind of this they began to dig for information on this family. When it came to light that the head of the Miralukan family was a Jedi the FoP were outraged.
The result was that they exiled the Chu family from the FoP, but not before they executed many members of their family for this heinous crime, including Zai’s father. The rest of the family was forced to go on the run; however with Zai’s mother being heavily pregnant it was impossible to continue to outrun those in pursuit who had an almost savage like vendetta against the family. When the hunt began, out of the two families there were 32 members in total but only 15 remained by the time Zai was born, with the others being captured, executed or giving themselves-up so that the others could continue running.
~Escaping the Slaughter~
Still on the run the family had to make a choice for the greater good. Zai’s grandparents, mother and Zai would continue to run, board a freighter and get off world. They hoped that being a small group would make them less recognizable in the event of them encountering members of the FoP. The other members of the family would stand and attempt to make sure that those currently hunting them could not pursue them.
It was a horrible time, but thanks to the sacrifice their families made the four of them were able to board a smugglers ship off world and out of harms way.
In deep space, the last remaining members of the Chu family headed towards the forest planet of Kashyyyk where they hoped that the terrain and secluded areas of the planet’s surface would provide the perfect place to hide. With them they not only carried sorrow of the ones they had lost, but the secrets of a martial art almost unheard of in the galaxy before.
Bio:
Chapter One:
Home Sweet Tree: Ages 1-3
Zai had already witnessed more pain, suffering, blood and gore before his first birthday than some people do in their lives. Now he headed towards a new world, a world of poverty and predators. When they finally landed down in Kashyyyk’s Rwookrrorro spaceport the family was quickly shown off the ship carrying there few belongings, and last reminders of a once happy home.
Zai did not have any kind of traveling visa, however because of his age it wasn’t necessary. Luckily for the others they did have valid traveling permits and were welcomed to the planet of Kashyyyk. The family knew that they would need some form of accommodation, but with no idea where they could find any they began to wonder.
For the next few months the family became squatters, finding what little shelter they could on the cold nights, with limited amounts of money, no income and a young child with them these times were hard for everyone. Eventually they stumbled upon a small abandoned tree house. It wasn’t anything special, had wooden chairs, a wooden table and a stone fireplace.
Slowly and surely this little wooden tree house became a home, with Zai’s grandfather putting a lot of work into doing the place up. It offered a warm and cosy aspect to what had been an incredibly tough time. There was also a large open space just feet from the tree in which Zai’s grandfather would spend all day perfecting his skills in Teräs Käsi.
By the age of three Zai’s prospects were looking up with his mother and grandmother working in a successful shop at one of the spaceports. He had already begun to speak and even grasp the hang of walking. Zai would often watch his grandfather train from the distance and even began to mimic some of the movements.
Set in Old Ways: Ages 3-7
As Zai’s grandfathers training continued, so did Zai’s interest in it. This was something that hadn’t gone un-noticed and his grandfather saw no reason why he should not start to learn, he would inevitably started to learn it anyway, whether it was from his teachings, or the large book created for instructing the martial art. Zai’s grandfather was incredibly disciplined and strict; Zai would follow instructions and never mess around. Something Zai learnt the hard way numerous times.
As Zai grew in years, so did his control over his body. This in turn helped how he performed when practicing with his grandfather. Weak and unrefined technique began to change into solid, smooth and graceful motions this was on top of the speed and stamina that Zai was beginning to develop as he grew.
During this time he became very close to his grandfather, more so than his mother and grandmother. While he did not have a lack of love for them, the bond that the training created between Zai and his grandfather was unrivalled. The only time that the two of them parted sides was when Zai’s grandfather went hunting for food.
It was during these times that Zai adopted his dress style. Using the little pocket money his family could spare on lightweight, flexible and often baggy clothing suited to the training that he was doing. This made his family very proud, as most children his age would spend it all on candy or toys.
There weren’t many, if any children at all on Kashyyyk. This affected Zai’s confidence when talking to people, and made him seem shy and sometimes slightly socially awkward. Although he was very big for his age Zai was a timid character who would rather be training than doing anything else. During training however he was stupidly confident in his abilities and was like a totally different person.
By the age of 7 Zai had already got the basics of all 19 techniques with his favourite being Aryx slash, because of the speed that it was performed with. His grandfather was impressed with how his training was going seeing larger and larger improvements every day, however if he ever hoped to master these techniques he would have many more years of training ahead of him.
Way of the Huntsman: Ages 7-8
Although Zai may not have known it at the time, this year would prove to be the most important learning experience of his entire life. With his control over Teräs Käsi now being decent, Zai’s grandfather believed that it was a perfect time to bring Zai on a hunting trip.
These hunting trips were important for the reason that a lot of the families money went towards clothing and bedding, because of this a lot of the food had to be caught and it was down to Zai and his grandfather from here on out. While the first few hunting trips were very rough around the edges over time Zai began to pick it up.
Due to the background of Zai’s grandfather and his incredible speed, he did not use any weaponry instead he overpowered the animal he was trying to catch either breaking its neck or more uncommonly ripping the animal’s jugular out. Zai being smaller and weaker than his grandfather practiced on smaller animals like Tach’s, unlike his grandfather who could chase down and kill Nerf’s.
There were however some animals that even Zai’s grandfather couldn’t easily match and Zai was taught how to notice the habitats of those animals as well as tracking the prey that he could. However some creatures like the Kkorrwrot which was not only one of the most efficient and deadly creatures on the planet it was also highly intelligent.
A Lonely Beginning: Age 8
On the day of Zai’s 8th birthday the family decided that as a treat they would all go out hunting. There were some beautiful areas of Kashyyyk and due to the family’s situation they hadn’t spent much time together.
The hunting grounds that Zai chose were that of the Rryatt Trail.
Although the grandfather was against it the two women insisted in giving Zai what he wanted for his birthday. Zai’s grandfather gave a short brief about the dangers of the Rryatt Trail and urged his family to stay close by. The Rryatt Trail was a long and winding trail that eventually led its travelers to the shadowy surface of Kashyyyk and was home to many deadly creatures.
As they wound their way down the trail they encountered Kinrath, they were easy pickings and became the families first catch of the day. Continuing down the trail Zai caught a sight of a Wookie up ahead. He had seen them hunting before from a distance, but never up close, as they passed it by Zai was astounded by its size; it was magnificent.
Suddenly they reached a point where the trail began to darken. The light had faded from the path almost completely and Zai’s grandfather decided to stop the hunt there claiming that the path ahead was far too dangerous and that they should turn back. But it was already too late for that as they turned and began to walk away they were circled by a pack of adult minstyngar. Zai’s mum let out a shrill scream, but no one would come. It was not uncommon that off world adventurers would succumb to the predators on the trail. Although the minstyngar were large dopey looking creatures, they were fast and one of them snatched Zai’s mother before any of them could react. Zai watched in horror as his grandfather scrambled to save her. But it was far too late the minstyngar had already shredded her flesh from bone and threw her lifeless body into the floor. Outnumbered and clearly outmatched the grandmother tried to make a run for it, Zai’s grandfather let out a cry as he jumped in the way of a minstyngar’s swipe at her. Grievously wounded he fell to the floor and cried to Zai to run.
Zai’s heart was pounding and he stood there frozen. His grandfather let out another cry before Zai snapped out of it and began running. He did not look back as he heard the feint cries of his grandparents and continued running. As he made it to safety the exertion and panic had sent his body into overdrive and he fell exhausted on the floor.
The Wookie You Know, Is Better Than The Wookie You Don’t: Ages 8-10
It was many hours before anything or anyone came across Zai and he was shock from his slumber when a large group of Wookie began poking him with a stick and talking among themselves. Scared he scurried away from the large furry beasts as they just looked at him. After several minutes it was clear to Zai that they did not intend to hurt him. As he stood up his cloths were covered in blood and believing he was injured a large albino wookie picked him up and carried him with them.
Zai thought he was about to become supper and he kicked and shouted all the way through a set of large heavy wooden doors and though he did not know it through the tree-top village of Rwookrrorro. When the wookie finally put Zai down he assumed a stance of Teräs Käsi he wasn’t going to give up without a fight. The wookie just pushed the small boy over and exited. Shortly later another wookie walked in and began to treat the visible wounds that Zai had. He tried to speak to this mysterious and kind wookie but did not get a reply.
After spending many days in the village he was beckoned to a large hut in the centre of the village. Not really understanding why he was there or why he was being summoned to this hut Zai had a lot of questions. When he arrived standing before him was a huge wookie, the biggest he had seen yet who was standing next to a droid. With loud roars and grunts the wookie introduced himself, and the droid to Zai’s amazement translated it for him, sure enough as Zai answered the droid also translated it back. They talked for a long time in which the wookie explained that they respected Zai as a warrior, not many of his age enter the Trail and come out alive. Zai explained about what happened down there and while the wookie showed no emotion towards the situation he explained that it was life. As the convocation came to a close the wookie Zai now knew was the chieftain of the tribe granted him a small place to stay in the village until he was old enough. However being granted this great privilege wouldn’t come without a cost, the chieftain demanded that in order to stay Zai must pull his weight.
Zai returned to his home to collect the last belonging as well as anything to remember his family by. He stumbled upon a book that he had not seen before, opening it he realised that he held a book depicting ways to master the art of Teräs Käsi. Returning to the village he was not welcomed, outsides weren’t every wookies cup of tea, but a large brown wookie roared scaring the unfriendly wookies away. It took Zai a long time to settle but with the protection of a wookie called Chewfrourra and picking up the basics of Shyriiwook he eventually settled.
From day one living within the village Zai continued to practice Teräs Käsi. The warrior like instinct that Zai had gained him respect. Over the next few years while he performed small tasks around the village the wookies began to accept him and by the age of 10 he was no longer bothered by the other wookies.
