Name: Taas Lang Asink
Race: Epicanthix/Mirialan
Age: 86
Height: 8’ 2”
Weight: 230 lbs.
Appearance: Taas is in the twilight of his prime as an Epicanthix. The lumbering man stands in perfect posture, constantly keeping his back erect and his head straight forward (whenever possible, as discussing with someone shorter often mandates a slight adjustment in line-of-sight). Taas’ age is beginning to show through, as his face can be seen as beginning to wrinkle a tad, and his hair is beginning to grey. This is, of course, is not to label the Epicanthix as an elder. Though older than most humans, Taas still has time as a near-human, and as such still retains his adult qualities fairly well.
Being a hybrid, Taas is more remarkably Epicanthix than Mirialan with two key differences. His stark black hair directly relates to his mother, and all of his skin is the classic Mirialan shade of green. Taas has also taken to marking himself with tattoos to commemorate accomplishments in the typical Mirialan fashion, currently sporting a total of 6. Two tattoos occur as stripes of black rhombuses that arc below Taas’ mouth, originating at the center of his bottom lip and parting shortly thereafter, spreading down his chin and neck congruently, and finally ending at his armpits. Another larger stripe of rhombuses is found on his forehead, stretching vertically from Taas’ hairline to top of his left eyebrow. A fourth tattoo, shaped as a giant hollow diamond can be located on Taas’ back, and the fifth of the same shape and smaller size around his navel. The sixth tattoo is by far the most elegant, as it begins as a hollow diamond on Taas’ right shoulder. From there, a stripe of rhombuses run down the length of the arm, constantly circling around the hybrid’s arm in a spiral. This stripe ends in Taas’ palm, expanding the final rhombus into a final, small empty diamond.
Taas keeps his hair no longer than his shoulders, finding it cumbersome and a constant annoyance whenever it begins to hinder his arms. At the same time, Taas finds no reason buzz it all off, intending to preserve his natural appearance as best he can. His outfits speak the same way; his robes are usually tailored in a traditional fashion, but any traditional baubles or hindrances to movement are absent, leaving Taas’ appearance one of balance between nature and sentience.
Taas is tuned well for a Jedi his respective age. Never being a man of great athleticism, Taas has managed to keep himself in healthy shape, never allowing his body to hold any excess fat.
Personality: Taas can be effectively summed up in one word:
Odd.
Taas is unmistakably intelligent, constantly educating people where he sees opportunity to do so and equally seeking knowledge when he comes up short. Between the desire to educate and be educated, it really is no wonder that the Master is a book-worm, rarely seen anywhere without at least a datapad on a new theory or strange subject. As such, normal pieces of information have quickly become old news, so Taas usually pursues strange studies or odd theories pertaining to normal studies. One might say that Taas has a near-addiction to education. Being a man of science, this means the Master usually conducts wild and seemingly pointless experiments in an attempt to deduce what is true and what is false, usually testing something he read or heard.
Despite this, Taas is also quite a compassionate person. Provided someone can stop his rambling long enough to disclose upon some discomfort or problem, Asink will almost instantaneously spring into an effort to cheer that person up with convoluted schemes, strange, laugh-inducing tales and experiences, and generally anything that accentuates his oddity. This usually serves as a hit-or-miss strategy, as some find the Researcher’s strangeness a pleasure, and others an annoyance. Unfortunately, Taas tends to have difficulty discerning the difference. In any event, he tries, and is usually portrayed as quite friendly.
Thanks in part to this friendliness, Taas is also somewhat of a pacifist. Where others would call it quits for talking and time for killing, Asink would continue attempting a peaceful solution until it became utterly apparent in all aspects that peace was no longer an option. Even then, Taas attempts to show nothing but respect and mercy, ultimately trying to avoid injuries, fights, and especially deaths.
Also of note of Taas is his dedication to balance. Instilled in him even by his parents, Taas has always found the most important aspect of the Force to be the balance between all things; sentient and non, light and dark. Over the years, it has become apparent to Asink that to try and tip the scales as an individual is futile, and that the balance is not a simple ratio that is constant, but rather a general idea that can be debated and discussed.
Due to this liberality, Taas can perfectly claim that he despises one thing above all others; arrogance. A total disregard for reason and a clinging to absolute truths absolutely stuns Taas, and whenever he encounters someone who has simply stopped challenging ideas, he usually has to keep himself from becoming direct in disapproval. Being a scientist, Taas believes in challenging every idea in the galaxy; this usually puts him in conflicts with those would rather leave certain monumental prospects untouched and unscathed.
One of the deepest secrets of Taas, however, is his dark side. Truly, beneath his quirks and his general optimism, Taas is first and foremost a ruthless logical mastermind. Taas has only ever called upon this side of himself a handful of times throughout his entire life, but it can be said with fear that this gear of the hybrid’s personality is truly frightening. Random questions and interest turn into deadly focus and threats. Cheery smiles transform into menacing smiles. An otherwise pacifist temperament mutates into a thirst for blood. This is the side of Taas that he himself had to confront in his time away from the Order; the ugly reflection he had developed the day he killed his father. It is subtle to all, and virtually unknown to all others, but to Taas it is a dangerous mindset hidden beneath his psyche that demands constant guard.
