Pulling Out (Reis)

Haust had been hiding for nearly two hours in plain site as he finished the assignment he was given. given his ability to drain knowledge he held crucial data in his mind pertaining to the location of a cult that harbored young force sensitive children with this knowledge he could hand it up to the Inner Sanctum whom would then in turn would retrieve them to bolster ranks. Many criminals in the employ of his target were scouring the streets for him, they were experienced but at their core amateurs training only but other criminals or hassle shop owners and deal spice.

Dressed in street clothing that many on the planet usually wore it was out of style for him. Used to the thin silks, vibrant hues of purple and contrasting charcoal colors he was instead dressed in dingy denim pants, a black t-shirt and dark grey zipped up hoodie with his lightsaber, comm unit and datapad hidden in the pocket of the hoodie. All he truly required for such a task, arriving on a low key commercial transport he was without his personal ship and for good reason. A luxury transport wasn't exactly going to fit into usual drab ships that come into the star port.

He waited at the star port keeping his head low waiting for the pilot he hired, with instructions of payment upon full delivery, remaining inconspicuous he fit in with many of the spice heads filthy looking, shielding the light from their eyes with his hands in his pockets. His fingers caressed the curved shaft of his lightsaber, he was in light meditation keeping aware of those around him and ready to act at a moments notice if required.

He was finally approached by a swooper, not doubt workign under the employ of his dead target seeking out a posthumous bounty. He was dressed similarly to Haust, for the exception of a thin leather vest instead of hoodie with the brand of his gang on the back. A tattoo covering the right side of his face.

"Hey f***head look up let me see your face!" He grunted aggressively holding a pipe tightly in his left hand. Haust smirked only slightly looking so slowly and with the wave of his hand applied the age old mind trick.

"I'm just a spice head... I'm not even worth your attention, in fact you're offended I even responded to you." Haust muttered to him keeping his tone of voice low yet clear. The swooper stepped back with a look of rebuking disgust, "Bah you're jus' a f****ng spice head not even worth my damn time!"

Finished with his response he back handed Haust causing his head to jerk to the side before walking off shaking his head to members of the gang who seemed to be waiting a few meters away. "Ouch.. wasn't expecting that." Haust thought to himself reaching to his cheek and rubbing it softly as he looked up enough to catch sight of the pilot he was waiting for.

“Dammit…”

The voice was light, almost apathetic to its owner’s situation; no matter how annoyed she was becoming over time. It was night, she was in some of Nar Shadda’s more questionable neighborhoods, and only had a single blaster to protect herself and whoever this informant was. And, as such, the Zelosian found herself walking through a deserted alley, boots connecting with a stray can once or twice. Refuse crunched under her foot as she swayed back and forth, her movement causing a rat to scurry over the shadowed gutters every once in a while.

“…these people seriously need to find better times to meet up.”

In her hands, the woman held unto a small datapad, the result of the cargo she had agreed to transport a couple of days ago. The information in it was simple to say the least – no name, no details on the cargo, just a date, time, and location. Something told Amaris that, perhaps, this wasn’t the brightest idea; that is, taking the job. Maybe it’s the way she lacked any actual information on this so-called ‘package’ or the way she had received the proposition, the datapad sitting quietly on her bed in an undisturbed apartment, but Amaris’ common sense begged the woman to reconsider, to leave this nuisance behind. But, she needed the money and the pay sounded good to the desperate woman.

“Can’t they do it a nice fraking afternoon? Is that too much to ask?”

The air was heavy – dank and stale, a combination of gasoline and smoke carried in the breeze. Amaris shrugged her weathered jacket closer to her body as she continued to move. The wretched and dreary smell of speeder and swoop bikes refuse hung in the air, making Amaris scrunch up her nose. Releasing a heavy sigh, the Zelosian tore her eyes away from the crude neon signs that flashed above the streets, returning her eyes to the datapad again. It was useless – there was nothing there. With a curse, Amaris shoved the datapad into her pocket once more, forgotten for the remainder of her trip down the twisting alleys.

Amaris’ eyes rolled up to stare at the endless darkness, the bitter nothingness that seemed to close around her and the surrounding area. Her sight flicked across the alley, eventually taking a sharp turn. Honestly, she hoped she didn’t get lost. She spat out a curse, the crudeness in her words contrasting the nerves that wrenched her gut. Finding the ship port was one thing during the day, doing so during the dead of night was another. She’d honestly be surprised if she didn’t end up curled-up by a trashcan waiting for morning to come.

Amaris sighed, averting her eyes from the body, instead focusing on the road ahead. It didn’t take too long after that for more familiar buildings to come into view. The port, her area of operation, well, aside from the Drunken Drummer, and her home away from home. Amaris puffed out her cheeks in exasperation as she continued to walk, hoping that this whoever person had decided to be there in time.

“Hey baby, you lookin’ for some fun time?” The voice severed all thoughts, a series of jeers following after. Her eyes fell upon a group of swoop members to her right. Amaris rolled her eyes, a snear pulling at the corners of her lips. “Frak off,” Her statement further emphasized as the Zelosian’s hands brought the male’s attention to her blaster. She was definitely not in the mood to deal with any crap. There was hollering, but the female ignored it, simply pinching at the bridge of her nose. This better be worth it.

As her green eyes fluttered open, a single figure caught her eyes – tall, dark, standing off to the side.

Ever seen one of those people that tried too hard to fit in? They generally stood to the side, shifting nervously, picking and prodding uncomfortably at their clothes? Amaris Sataj had – constantly; though, usually the people who depended in that type of behavior tended to be those of status, those who didn’t want prying eyes to recognize them, those who wanted to be nothing more than another face in this slum of the moon. Amaris pushed fiery strands out of her face, brows raised in clear curiosity.

“Whatever look you’re going for, babe,” The Zelosian called, arms crossed lazily across her chest, “you missed.”

Haust sat solitary being mindful of the situations around him, through the force he could feel the life signs of those around him and the flowing outward emotions of the patrons. Mostly mistrust and lust, a lot of lust had this been Zeltros he could be making large amounts of credits in a very short period of time.

No matter, he kept his head low and his eyes shut as he could hear the swoopers hassling the other patrons checking their faces and even pushing them around. The though of them so weak minded to have been fooled always brought a smile to his face even back when he was much younger.

"Damn I could use a cigarette.." Haust thought to himself not thinking to have brought some along the trip. While filthy low grade and generally avoided, these hole in the wall locations were often great places of revenue. While of course the clean, sane minded individuals avoided it brought in the seedy underbelly citizens quite frequent and their ill gotten cash.

"Perhaps I should open something here.." He thought absently before the sudden and unsuccessful ploy for quick fun seemed to have failed followed by a quick and aggressive response was comical for him though not so much for the proposer.

Haust noticed her, she looked attractive and had a wonderful pair of green eyes however he didn't allow his eyes to stare upon her too long instead looking back down to avoid eye contact with anyone in general. Nearby a shot of steam hissed from a nearby vent as it pressed the warmth of heated mist unto his clothing, the smell that followed the steam was that of old beer and sweat.

Haust reached up rubbing the space beneath his nostrils with a slight expression of disgust before his physical protest to the smell was disrupted by her comments. It was direct, and lacked the usual courtesy of women he came across well not counting that certain someone. He smiled slightly reaching to his bottom lip before slightly looking up to her,

"Well then I'm glad a woman such as your self caught it, most did not. One should find himself lucky to have caught the attentions of yourself without even trying. I am to assume you are looking for 'something' or else you'd not have been so well observant."


His voice was low, subtle slightly silky as he kept his side of the conversation between them, there could be a hint of charm laced in his voice though it would be unintentional. He studied her appearance, scar on upon her face, deep green eyes, her posture, the blaster and even a pristine necklace, obviously of some value as it remained the only untarnished thing on her body.

Equations of causality began running through his mind the dim light of her datapad in her pocket, though she did carry a blaster likely this place was dangerous be she wasn't entirely good with her hands. soft features she could use that to her advantage frequently, though perhaps he doubted she did regardless he leaned back allowing the the darkness provided by the hood to hide the portion of his face above his bottom lip.

There was something about the male that struck Amaris as odd – though, perhaps it was something that could easily be attributed to his voice. It was smooth, velvety, unusually so, causing the hairs on the back of her neck to stand on end and an involuntary shudder to run up her spine. It was the voice of a politician, manipulative, and carefully weighed; one that made Amaris’ eyes narrow down instinctively even if she held an amicable smile across her lips.

Observant? Her? More like a woman that simply liked to state the obvious – as ridiculous as it may sometimes seem. His words, however, made a small laugh roll through parted lips, the Zelosian’s head gently tilted before giving a grin. “To be honest with you, it’s hard not to notice someone standing more than a head taller than everyone else.” She shrugged, “Just a thought.” Maybe something the male should consider next time he decided to set up a meeting somewhere. It certainly would make things for the smuggler – or others like her – easier. But, then again, easy jobs never paid enough.

“And for the record,” The Zelosian said, an odd playfulness passing through her lips, “…next time you hire someone, try not to leave cryptic datapad messages in someone’s home.” She winked, “Usually, people don’t like it.” And she sure as hell was one of them. Just the idea of having that kriffer in her apartment made Amaris’ jaw clench and her eyes narrow down.

“But, you’re right – I am looking for something.” Though what this something was, was still beyond her. Usually when a job came along, the Zelosian was given some form of information. Of course, the data didn’t always give away what she was transporting, but it gave enough to let Amaris prepare for the trip. Not this time. Not today. All she had gotten was a simple message, one that made her question the very essence of the job. But, for now, the Zelosian decided to ignore it, Might as well hear him about before shooting down a plausibly profitable opportunity.

She moved slightly to the side, body slumping against the brick wall. She could feel the cold of the wall seeping through the thick leather of her jacket, lapping gently at her skin. She grunted, hand instinctively reaching for her pocket. Hand pushed the datapad to the side, fingers curling around an open cigarra pack. The crumbling package was pulled out, a single cigarra selected and secured between full lips. A distinct orange gleam later and the smoke was ignited, prompting a deep breath from Amaris. She should consider quitting, she thought for no particular reason, studying the cylinder secured between slender fingers. Eyes shifted to the male besides her, pack raised in his general direction.

“Speaking of which,” Amaris continued, her voice dropping down considerably, “I assume you have it?” Granted, Amaris would be incredibly surprised if this were the case, especially if it was something of value. This area did not necessarily exude safety and kindness from strangers. What else could they expect? It was a tough Galaxy out there. Easy credits were always welcomed.

Haust merely stood there silently listening watching as a couple passed, leaning upon on another as the moved through the streets it was likely one of them would be dead in the next week. This wasn't a place for soft love, and that brought a sadistic smile to Haust's lips, the danger of this planet had always intrigued him and it's filth always disgusted him. Her comment on the cryptic datapad was amusing though he found ti funny how people would leave all their life represented in their home yet install cheap door locks to secure it from the outside world.

He responded quickly with a comically casual tone a slight smirk still on his face as he spoke.

"I find violating a little privacy is the best way to get someone's attention. People can always avoid comm calls and even slam a door in the face of visitors but when you violate their privacy it makes them upset, but curious even if just to leave the message of not doing it again."

He chuckled dryly pulling his left hand from his pocket to rub his check where he was backhanded he would get revenge for that but perhaps another time. This was a time for making a deal, and business was to be had.

He had purposefully been vague, with his less than stealthy operation he required that a smugglers not know of what they were transporting lest they know to compare their cargo with the rumor and report it for a share of bounty. It was the cigarra that grabbed his attention, oh how he craved one genuinely as she pulled out one and cradled it between her fingers it all seemed to happen in slow motion until she held the pack in his general direction. He found himself quickly and precisely reaching over and pulling out one quickly and pressing it between his lips before exhaling through his nostrils and thinking to himself.

"And that's how you know you're addicted..."

Pressing his left index finger to the tip of the cigarra hidden in the darkness of his hood, patting himself momentarily he looked over and taking the bold initiative leaning over pressing the tip of the cigarra to hers to light his. Afterward leaning back away from her and taking a ridiculously long drag before pulling the cigarra from his lips and huffing out the smoke from his nostrils with a extended exhalation.

He'd almost missed her question of if he has it, of course she meant the package as most smugglers did they were reliable for such, well some of them anyhow he could only hope for her sake she was one of them.

"Fortunately, you're speaking with it... though I fear this conversation will need to expedite it self."

He aimed the cigarra at a group of well dressed thugs likely connected with a Hutt cartel while it didn't bother him much, he would prefer leaving without causing a scene though he wouldn't mind either way. Though he pointed them out he seemed a bit too relaxed almost not worried, it could off put the usual observer.

'Or they make people want to shoot you in the face.' Another valid point, but one that Amaris preferred to keep to herself. She grinned slightly as she heard the male’s explanation, a small laugh soon following. Well, if she ignored the voice, the man didn’t really seem to have a stick up his bum, and could even be described as amusing in his own little way. But she couldn’t shake off the uneasiness from her body, and while most smugglers would have already relaxed, the Zelosian kept a close eye on the male.

She must have taken her eyes off of him for a second for her not to notice him move. In an instant, the Zelosian felt as a body came close, her eyes meeting the shadowed face of the informant drawing near. Amaris hesitated slightly at the distance the man had suddenly closed – and for a second, she thought of reaching to her blaster in case he tried anything funny. But, as quickly as the male had leaned in, he pulled back just as fast, seemingly content with his newly lit cigarra. The smuggler chuckled, rubbing her temples, but seemed otherwise unfazed by the whole ordeal. ‘He’s paying you, so no shooting perfect clients just yet.’ After all, this wasn’t Fosu she was dealing with, so she didn’t have to worry about grimy fingers – or other equally disgusting appendages – coming near her.

“Next time you need a light, you can simply ask.” The woman quipped, eyes trailing the man as he took a drag from his cigarette, releasing the refuse into Nar Shaddaa’s crisp night air. Yet, all complaints she may have held to the man's actions were quickly forgotten, erased by the mere mention of the object she was meant to transport - namely, himself.

“Excuse me, what?” A person. She was going to be transporting a living, breathing, person. Amaris was going to be dealing with someone that could potentially prove to be a liability not only to her livelihood, but also to her own well being. She stood, utterly surprised, mouth agape and vibrant eyes wide. She stared at the man, partially hoping for this to be nothing more than some odd joke, but she found no solace. He was being serious – deadly serious – as far as she could tell.

“Crap.” She growled under her breath, a deep drag taken from the cigarra, a desperate attempt to keep herself calm; so far, it wasn’t working. She breathed in deeply, right hand pinching the bridge of her nose, as the Zelosian told herself again and again that everything would work out just fine. It was no different from any other delivery. Except this one talked. And moved. And ate. And could possibly endanger them. No offense to the guy, but frankly, Amaris doubted he could even hold a blaster in case of trouble – less put-up a good fight.

Amaris mouth fell silently, hoping to utter a complaint, but before any words could get through, the shadowy man continued to speak. While Amaris had been well aware of the swoop gang that tittered on the edge of the alley, the woman had been less keen to pay attention to the suited men. When the man emphasized their sudden appearance, Amaris glanced over them momentarily. And that’s exactly why she didn’t like transporting people – they were easily traced and sometimes called too much attention to themselves. But she was already there, and something told her she couldn’t particularly back out of the whole ordeal.

She breathed out the hot refuse from her lungs and in a single motion, brought herself to a full stance. “If you want, we can continue this conversation on my ship,” She suggested head cocked in the port’s general direction, “…pretty sure you don’t want your suited friends to be eavesdropping anyways.” Then again, she could be wrong; that is, on him worrying about being heard. Truth be told is that the man seemed almost indifferent to the group’s presence, dismissing them as nothing more than a nuisance almost. It made Amaris a bit uncomfortable. Clicking her tongue, however, she left little room for objection, moving before the male even tore his attention away from the group.

Even as she walked, she could feel the suited men’s stares following them – it pricked the back of her neck and made her grind her teeth. There was no need to worry, she tried to convince herself, they could pass unnoticed if they so wished. While she was sure that it wouldn’t be the last they saw of the men, Amaris was quite glad that the trip down the shipyard was otherwise uneventful, its monotony broken only as Decipio greeted her eyes.

Decipio wasn’t a common ship by any means. It was large, intimidating, and deceptively fast, able to out fly most ships that crossed its path. It was a ship that had been with the woman through thick and thin, and almost seemed to have become an extension of her being. Amaris crossed the loading dock and into the cargohold area. “So, why say something instead of someone?” She asked after a few minutes, glancing back over her shoulder.

“Excuse me, what?”

The response made him smirk slightly, beneath the darkness of his hood the cigarra clamped between his lips as he did. Her reaction following the statement while predictable was far more worthwhile than he anticipated similar to the surprised look someone getting what they always desired in life. Utter surprise, it gave him a pleasant chuckle. Followed by the look of both irritation and eventual justification of the task however it was when he pointed out the men coming to look for him then she seemed to become rather rushed and cautious.

The suited men collaborated among themselves their body language depicting a slight of panic and irritation, no doubt their survival and next meal may depend on his capture. "Too bad, no kiss kiss no bang bang..." Haust told himself as he sucked on the cigarra again the tip glowing bright orange and the sulfur luminescent of his eyes shimmer like a feline's in the dim light of a room when it gazed upon you.

He remained rather calm completely confident he could surpass them in all aspects of speed, cunning, intelligence and even strength. Even as she spoke of pushing to conversation to her ship he remained still and calm, it may have given off the notion of slowed reflexes. As she walked to her ship he merely watched in the field he was meticulous nearly every move planned and laid to follow a set of probability based on cause and effect.

He waited nearly five seconds after she walked off before pressing himself from the wall and following suit each step was slower then hers, he kept an eyes on the suited men and began approaching the he subtly waved it hand causing a metallic pipe to fall int he far distance catching their attention as he collectively rush to the area to inspect it.

Quickening the pace of his steps and moved to catch up to her done with observation and toying with the men, he paused only a moment grabbed a duffle bag hidden between two miscellaneous crates and he was ready to depart and be done with the planet for the moment and join his pilot, her ship wasn't chosen by accident his own was modeled after the Decipio however it was far more recognizable then hers and had been suffering damages and repairs since the Gargon incident.

Quickly stepping into the cargohold area to join her he still had a smirked styled on his face the cigarra glowed orange again as he pulled it from his lips and exhaled a large cloud of smoke before flicking out to the loading dock.

“So, why say something instead of someone?”

Her question was slightly valid as he kept his head slightly bowed using the hood to cover his face as he approached her, a hand stuffed in his pocket the other holding the black duffle bag tightly.

"Smugglers find living cargo to be more troublesome than hard cargo, less chances of acceptance though in this case I'm sure you're ready to make such an exception. Beautiful ship by the way, Decipio.. large spacious much room for customization,"

He spoke of it as if he had experience with the vessel which would be true to any who considered it. He turned slightly to her his lips visible as he smiled to the Zelosian his teeth nearly a too perfect pearly white aligned with unnatural perfection as the licked his bottom lip.

"Shall we blast off Captain? You have a sizable fee waiting for you upon arrival. Besides we can continue our flavorful flirtations once in hyperspace, we've plenty of time"

He stated rather comically looking to her for a few moment before walking off further into the cargohold. As he did he smiled very brightly how he often enjoyed being verbose, even if others didn't like it as much.

Modified ships, the bread and butter for any smuggler with reasonable amounts of brain capacity. Take a normal, inconspicuous freighter, modify it with increased weapon capabilities, shields, nifty gadgets, and a fake wall or two, and you had it made. Amaris nodded graciously at the man’s comments, trailing her hand gently against the ship’s wall, “He’s a great asset – almost no one can touch us when flying him.” And it was no understatement; while most smugglers modified the ships to hold extra amounts of cargo sacrificing most of its speed, Decipio was the complete opposite. Decipio lost cargo space in order to be graced with unimaginable speed for a ship its size – honestly, Amaris didn’t complain.

Her fingers pulled away from the cold surface, her attention falling on the grinning lips – and the unusually straight teeth – the male revealed. She shrugged her shoulders, amusement present in her pale features. “Smuggler’s finding living cargo to be a pain in the ass – now who would believe that?” She purred dryly, lips curled into a callous smile. It wasn’t like the thought had constantly reverberated through her head – or that her common sense had screamed for her to decline when he had first revealed the entirety of the situation. Nor was it possible that Amaris common sense had found itself drowned by her more brazen side, the more desperate one, the one that realized she was short on credits and her family needed the money as soon as possible.

Amaris shifted uncomfortably between her feet, eyes following the hooded figure as he examined her ship. The heel of her boots clacked lazily across the cold metal floors as the Zelosian turned to the wall by the loading dock. She pressed down a button -- a hiss and a snap later, she felt a suction of air as the dock began to close.

Even with the whirring of the ship cutting through the air, the male’s voice carried itself across the area with ease. It didn’t take long for Amaris to notice him speaking again. She glanced over her shoulder, the male in her peripheral vision. For a second, she let his words float meaninglessly through the air. She turned, hand propped against her hip. “Oh, sure,” She drawled, eyes closed as she brought her arms up in an exasperated shrug. “I’m ecstatic to fly around in space until we run out of fuel and supplies.” Alright, so maybe she could have phrased that better. Perhaps a simple ’Where to?’ would have sufficed; but the words came out so quickly, that the Zelosian’s brain barely had enough time to react. She mentally kicked herself, but uttered no apology. In fact, Amaris looked unfazed, as if every syllable had been intentional.

She sighed, the fiery strands of red pushed away from her face and behind her ear. It didn’t take long for the tresses to rebel at the female’s intrusion, falling quietly over her shoulders once more. Even if she didn’t motion for the man to follow down the hall to the right, something told Amaris that it wouldn’t be long before he followed. After all, what type of person would like to stay on a cargo hold without an actual need, “Well, while you decide whether or not tell me an actual location before our departure,” The smuggler spoke up, the stillness of the ship broken by every step she took “…let me show you to your room.”

Now that was an idea she could definitely toy with; that is, locking him in his quarters.

It would certainly reduce the possibility of this just being another creep. And by all means, she had learned this the hard way in more than one occasion. Besides, after his little stunt back in the apartment, the Zelosian would feel comfortable knowing that she could, at the very least, protect her personal space in that way. She felt herself grimacing at the thought, an amused scoff leaving her lips. Sure, saying that the man would get man was an understatement, he would be furious for all she knew – maybe throw a tantrum or two, or even threaten to not pay her at all. But the mind was fickle and with the right pressure, even a rancor could be led by a hair. ‘Yeah, that’ll be the day’

"In other news, your groupies back in the dock -- they are looking for you why?" Alright, Amaris was well aware that she was pushing her luck. These type of clients generally preferred their privacy -- to keep an air of pseudo mystery around them, as annoying as that could be, but the Zelosian couldn't help but be curious. She looked back, green eyes locking into the shadowed face of the male, not expecting an answer, but hopeful to hear one nonetheless.

The hiss and snap of the ships closing as enough to cause him close to blow back slightly as the ship pressurized as if he'd stepped in a mild breeze. He was ready to be back in civilization or least back to his luxurious life of numbers, force and numbers. Compared to Nar Shadda even Korriban seemed tame by his standards of course to others Nar Shadda would seem safer by a long shot. He continued walking until she spoke of flying around until they were out of supplies and fuel the reference made him chuckle dryly as he retorted.

"Well look at it this way, you'll be stuck with fantastic company who knows you might enjoy such isolation better than I."

He joked, as he continued walking for nearly thirty seconds before speaking again to direct her to the location. While he was sure it wasn't a frequent spot to be smuggled to, home was home and he longed to go back.

He may have well been a Zeltron himself, as much time he spent there building his small hedonistic empire he was quite famous and infamous to the Southern Province having the ability to cater to all desires wasn't by luck or skill but quite simply through bribery. He had a running account with the Southern Province customs the kept his supplies and livestock running unhindered. He tone was seemingly intentional though in reality Haust didn't care his feeling were hard to hurt and his patience nearly unlimited.

He paused to wait for her as she passed him and he followed, while it would have been bold to simply take and choose a room it would have been rude even by his standards of being the current employer. As she proceeded down the hall he followed silently even after she spoke of a him deciding to tell her a location before departure and even her telling him she'll show him to his room.

"Zeltros, Southern Province worry not about clearance codes I can take care of that if it comes up."


He spoke of it casually, almost carelessly as he looked side to side the the walls of the hall they now ventured in. It truly was a beautiful ship though in his opinion a bit of granite here and there, some venetian faux plaster preferable in dark grey or brown shading some red carpeting and bronzium fixtures, statues and it would be presentable. Or at least that was how he modeled his own ship, and he enjoyed it that way but for now he would tolerate the current accommodation. There was nothing he could do about it nor truly desired to since this was to be a one way trip.

"In other news, your groupies back in the dock -- they are looking for you why?"

The question brought a bright smile to his face as it was fighting back a chuckle as he kept his head low thinking of the past hours. It was quite fun, the screaming, the begging and the mercilessness he committed. Haust didn't always go on a killing spree, but when he did he was efficient quick yet enjoyed the moment like a fine wine taking in the flavor, aroma and sight. While he lacked the characteristics of a majority of Sith, killing was not one of them that he enjoyed when he did partake of it.

As they walked he remained silent for a moment before revealing the reasons,

"They are a bit upset that I may have extirpated their boss, and his second in command and their families... generally anyone in the room at that point. Can't have heirs seeking revenge now can we, besides I'd wager the 'new' boss is hoping to use me as a chip to solidify power. Though in all honesty it seems haughty of me to disappoint him and his new regime though doesn't it? Does that sate the curiosity behind those beautiful malachite eyes? Or does it raise more questions? No matter the sooner I am able to sit in my ... room and relax the better."

Would the admissions put her mind at ease or panic, probing for reactions was a bit of a hobby for Haust an extension of his belief in causality. Emotional reaction in large part being a variable in and of it self to aid in the calculations of cause and through it effect. It was a beautiful thing where a single insignificant event such as the drop of a coin distracting a mindful worker to end in the destruction of a building or a shot fired to begin a war. "How will she react though?" Haust thought to himself playing out the random thoughts of choice.

There was something about the man that was oddly amusing – if a little curious at the same time.

He was a smartass, proud, and arrogant – a combination that made the Zelosian win. His words made the woman laugh, shrugging her shoulders as she continued to walk. “You, babe, are priceless,” Her body moved in a single motion, arms trailing by her side, as her feet carried her down the familiar halls. “…but don’t you think you are giving yourself a bit too much credit?” She quipped, glancing over her shoulder momentarily. “No offense, but I can definitely think of several men whose company I’d enjoy more.” Then again, these were men who had captured her attention for a prolonged period of time; people she found extraordinarily alluring in their own little way. And, yes, sometimes men that gave her constant headaches – but that kept things interesting, now didn’t they?

“Zeltros?” The named planet made Amaris look back with a quirked. Now that’s a planet she didn’t visit enough. Good, simple life – people didn’t complain, and all in all, knew how to have a fun time. Amaris pursed her lips. Well, maybe this could work out after all. Soon as the job was done, maybe she’d visit some of the nicer beaches and lounge around for a couple of days – a little r and r never hurt anyone, now did it. The Zelosian grinned, waving her hand. “Sure thing. You take care of those codes, I’ll get us there.”

Not long after that, the woman stopped in front of a door, “Well, here’s your room for the next couple of days. Hopefully it’ll suit your tastes.” And, if it didn’t, well, it really didn’t matter, now did it? Amaris moved away from the door to let the man examine the bedroom. In appearance there was nothing extraordinary – bare walls like on the rest of the ship. Aside from the bed, few furnishings occupied the room – a bedside table, a desk, and a table light. “Fresher is down the hallway and to the left, kitchen and common area at the end of the hall – you can’t miss it.” She shrugged. The simplicity did not particularly bother Amaris – or some of the people that she had graced upon her ship. Decipio was utilitarian, not a ship for pleasures or commodities. But, there was always a first.

Surprise was the first expression that flitted across her pale features; her mouth dropped open, bright jade eyes growing wide. That man, had he really just said that to her? Had her client confessed to committing mass murder? She didn’t dare to react – partially hopeful that it was all some sort of sick joke. But as her eyes fell upon the male, studying his demeanor, she was greeted by a pleasant smile. Her hand falling to her side, fingers skipping past the blaster on her side. She glanced down to it, thought about drawing it, but her twitching fingers recoiled. She breathed in deeply, tasting the growing tension in the air.

“Extirpate?” She repeated hoarsely, eyes trailing back at the man standing to her side. He spoke so easily of what he had done, as if he were brushing through a dismissible topic. “You mean to say, you killed them?” She heard her own words, the lump in her throat growing twice in size, suddenly stifling her voice. She saw him smile, amused by the horror that fleeted past her features. His smile turned into more words, but she couldn’t understand – the first sentence running through her head again and again. Two families completely destroyed; annihilated by this single man. By the same man that stood across from her, the one she had accepted a job from.

Amaris licked her lips, hands tightened unto fists. She tried to be calm; she tried telling herself that everything was fine. It was a job; she had met men like this before. ‘Except he’s not like them.’ They had shown some form of remorse, even disgust, of their actions. He, on the other hand, seemed almost amused, as if it were a big joke to him. Her quiet breaths became heavier and heavier, her still form beginning to shake. The ache in her throat grew worse, eyes seething rage. She thought about screaming, ordering him off her ship, but the voice wouldn’t give.

The Zelosian pulled her hands to her face, as if trying to reason with what she had heard. But she couldn’t find a reason, she couldn’t understand the reason behind this. Her breathing was becoming erratic, heart threatening to burst through her chest. A million things ran through her head, prompting the woman to ran her fingers through her hair. “Who the hell are you?” Amaris asked through gritted teeth, eyes burning into his shadowed face.

“No offense, but I can definitely think of several men whose company I’d enjoy more.”

Haust chuckled slightly, a feisty one he was definitely going to enjoy this trip much better than the other smuggler he considered a morbidly obese Corellian who stunk of liquor and cold cuts... much better. Of course following her to his quarters was a treat in and of it's self he got a good view of her as she walked his response nearly following as quick as the chuckle.

"Oh my good lady how you wound me, you'd be surprised how fast one can come to enjoy my company I can be quite the gentlemen."

He phrased it comically smiling the entire time he spoke, it wasn't far from the truth he was the personality that often flocked many friends however also flack enemies. Arrogance and charm rolled into one, conversation was easy for him being a man of vast social circles it was perhaps a gift to have, unlike many of his.. 'co-workers'.

She spoke of Zeltros and looked back to him, perhaps she thought he spoke of something more sinister perhaps a moon of Gargon or the seedy districts of Coruscant? No, Zeltros was his home the one planet where hedonism was encouraged and he basked within, empowered by it.

"Yes, Zeltros such a wonderful planet to visit, to live on the constant parties, the environment, the pleasures..."

He stopped there thinking back to the multiple venues aims towards fun, every sin imaginable rolled into a possibility of fun. And to think he lived there it was rare for most human to live there and he thrived there profited from it. It was enough to make even a lesser hedonist blush with giddy crimson cheeks. Haust kept his behavior elusive, head tilted low walking with a slight haunch the duffle bag still clinched in his hands, it's contents only he knew perhaps a bomb, only clothes, maybe stuffed full of credits surprised one never considered it.

As she stopped and presented the room he expected something akin to a trash compactor but was pleasantly surprised to see it generally clean but bare, it would have to make due. He raised his head only slightly to partake of it's view only a few inches as to not reveal his face. She then spoke of the fresher, kitchen and common area he could only think of the horrors of the fresher, the one at the port was needless to say smelled worse than a Hutt which was saying much.

Then at last of what he awaited the reaction the drop in facial features, the slight gape of her mouth even the twitching of her fingers like a gunfighter waiting for the draw it was priceless anxiousness, possibly fear and he fed upon it like a leech upon blood. Initially he ignored her simplistic approach to the question be rephrasing it herself her voice even changed an octave a sense of horror poured from her that only a Sith could appreciate, even one as less idealistic as himself.

She shook, she really shook it made him gleeful with that pleasant cheery feeling one would usually feel upon opening a surprise gift or getting that first kiss from a crush. He could feel rage, anger in a way it made him stronger to feed on those emotions. A flourish of emotion that would give the elderly heart failure and he incited with with mere words, impeccable experiment he thought to himself as she posed another question.

The question was simple enough to answer yet, Haust would never answer directly at least not to her, not right now there was only one he spoke directly to, honestly to the only he considered "friend". He smiled brightly as he took a deep breath evident in the elevation of his shoulders, as he exhaled before speaking.

"I am, a client you seem too much personally invested in the lives of those you didn't know. Over sextillion sentient beings in the galaxy, hardly two dozen is much to be sentimental about besides it's an organization that won't smuggle children, or murder people for bumping into them anymore.. or at least anytime in the foreseeable decade.

No reason to give that beautiful face wrinkles over, nor to stress over besides this is Nar Shadda it would be strange if no one died on the planet on a daily basis."

He removed his hand from his pocket tapping into the force to speed his movements to an unnatural speed to quickly approach and place the index and middle finger beneath her chin almost in a caressing fashion. Finally looking up as his sulfur hued eyes still hidden behind the darkness glimmered against the lights, like a feral animals in the night of a dangerous forest. His pearly white teeth fashioned into a wide smile.

The move had double meanings, both to exhibit his ability to move faster than the average client and to mark his charm and danger. While he usually didn't show off his abilities as much, her reaction to death made him feel a bit particularly playful and giddy.

"Besides I'd worry not, you are much too pretty to harm, you've nothing personally to worry about. I'm much kinder when ones gets to know me better, trust me."

Amaris was only vaguely aware of the situation that now surrounded her. How the male had grown dangerously close – his looming figure mere inches away from her. She should’ve known better, every nerve had screamed it, this was a bad idea – you never followed cryptic messages to bad neighborhoods. If you did, you got stuck in these awkward situations, the ones were you got stuck with a sociopath. You would be stuck with a man who was unabashed for his crimes and who seemed to take a strange sense of pride in them. One that would make your skin crawl as Amaris’ did, and who make you regret every decision taken.

Truth be told, Amaris was scared – down right petrified.

The Zelosian was not used to being placed in these type of situations – especially without her knowledge. The breaths that had come easily to her before, now came as short, erratic gasps. Her body felt clammy, eyes burned into the man. What the hell should she do? What could she do? The window of possible outcomes were beginning to close, leaving the Zelosian with little ways she could approach the ordeal. Amaris watched as the menacing form that had stood stoically by her side, turned; his attention shifting from the room before him to the woman once more. Even if the shadows swallowed every trace of his face, it was damming nonetheless. It was like staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.

“…this is Nar Shaddaa, it would be strange if no one died on the planet on a daily basis.” The figure spoke, shifting his body slightly. Amaris could feel her heart racing as he dismissed the severity of the situation, lips quivering at the threat. The woman could hear the amusement, the playfulness in his voice, and the Zelosian couldn’t help but clench her teeth. Amaris tried her very best to regain any bit of composure her body had left, but she was fighting a losing battle. Yet, the woman was determined that she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing he’d gotten to her. No, Amaris would try her very best to go against it. With all the might she could muster, emerald orbs locked into the shadowed face.

“I'm much kinder when ones gets to know me better, trust me." The male spoke coyly, his breath washing over her face as he came closer. Wait, when had this happened? It was then that her eyes wavered for a second – enough time for his fingers ease underneath her chin. She felt her chin pulled up slightly, emerald eyes met darkness and a sliver of amber.

And that’s when it happened – the succession, the coup d’etat. The nerves that had once pervaded through the Zelosian lifted, replaced instead by rage. In an instant, the woman that had once questioned every decision taken was replaced. Blood boiled through the Zelosian’s veins, spreading across her body like wildfire. Her jaw tensed, becoming tighter over time – processed mirrored by the rest of her muscles. How dare he? The phrase reverberated through her head; how dare he do this? How dare he put his slimy fingers on her? The furies echoed in her head, screaming for vengeance.

His body was so close – a simple kick could do. That’s all it would take for him to get the idea through his head. But at the moment, Amaris decided against it. She could think of something better if given time. For now, the Zelosian yanked her head back and away from his touch. “You touch me again and I swear you’ll regret it, babe.” Amaris’ voice dripped with venom, each syllable a clipped staccato. No matter the prowess he exhibited, no matter his clear speed, no matter if he was client or not, his transgressions wouldn’t be ignored by Amaris.

Without another word, the woman turned on her heel, making her way down the hallway and up towards the cockpit – the farther she was away from the man, the better.

"Dammit; what the frak did I get myself into this time?"

“You touch me again and I swear you’ll regret it, babe.”

That was the sentence she mutter than set in motion the chance of emotion, while most would take the hint and back away in fear it was as if stepping from the main course to dessert. Fear then to anger it was another heated emotion brimming with adrenaline raised tones, pitched octaves in the voice. They purred like a angered Nexu vicious dangerous, in a word... alluring.

Haust smiled brightly as she turned on a heel walking off down the hall, obviously seething. He only watched for a few before doing what many would consider unthinkable at this moment, with a perfectly smoothed baritone voice he sang out.

"♫ Oh, I got a lot of barrels of money... and I find you ragged and funny. ♫

He stopped and chuckled before making a dancing slide into his quarters and with a quickly flick of his wrist closing the door behind him. Haust had always found himself fun even at the displeasure of others to manipulate emotions, prod for reactions partake of strong emotions it was sport for him well worth the risk of a dangerous conclusion.

In the privacy of the room he set down the duffle bag on the bed and turned to the desk before reaching into his pockets laying down his curve hilt lightsaber, comm unit and datapad all in a line. Canting his neck to the side as it cracked pleasently a few times before he sighed and sat within the chair, his expressions falling flat and he stared at the table a moment. As the moment passed, encompassing merely ten seconds he reached over lifting the duffle bag and placing it in his lap before pulling out several vacuum packed sets of clothing & towels setting them down unto the bed, along with a shaving, bath, hygiene kit and setting it on the bed as well.

He doubled checked his items being sure he had all he desired and lastly pulling out a triangular bottle of Corellian Brandy setting it on the desk along with a silver shot glass, durable and wouldn't shatter. And finally several pairs of black leather gloves plucking them out and setting them down. The duffle bag now empty for the exception of a single book of literature, on economics titled, "The Corporate Alliance, Economics for the Future" from the top a smooth purple ribbon stuck from inside it.

Solitary and having had enough he stripped himself of the filthy clothing he made due with during the assignment that was now unnecessary, pulling off the hoodie, pants and shirt throwing them unceremoniously to remain there even beyond his eventual arrival. And grabbing one of the packs of vacuum sealed clothing and towels along with his lightsaber and bath kit before approaching the door and looking down at his own naked form before shrugging and walking out into the hall carelessly and to the refresher. While modesty would be the strong suit of most it was not for Haust, baring his birthday suit and scars along his chest and back he walked to the refresher without recourse and quickly showered.

Upon completion followed his usual routine of vanity, while it took only ten to fifteen minutes he never failed to follow it. Brushing his teeth, facial masque, shaving, aftershave lotion, moisturizer, anti-aging cream, eye drops to lessen the blood shot look from corruption and light body oil to lock in moisture and prevent dry skin. Combing his hair back before rubbing in hair nutrient oil and re-combing it.

After nearly half an hour total he would emerge from the refresher dressed in white silk pajamas, white to keep him cool, the towel draped around his neck in one hand his bathing kit bag and the other slid into his pajama pockets clenched tightly around his light saber. It would seem to the outsider obsessive how he tended to his appearance and for the most part they would be absolutely correct. He quickly made his way back to his quarters before packing away everything again for the exception of his lightsaber and his book and venturing to the commons area to find a comfortable spot and begin reading.

While he would have preferred other activities, flights such as these were the only moments he was isolated from the sybaritic aspects of his casino, homes. As such he would quickly compose his calm through literature and the reading of interesting books. However this thoughts were not blank he was mentally prepared for the moments he would land calculating, planning, predicting awhile reading, a trait of having an eidetic memory.

To say Amaris Sataj was in a foul mood was a definite understatement. The female was fuming, cheeks verdant with rage. Every ounce of her body was twitching, growing progressively worse as the Zelosian stomped her way through the ship – she should’ve kicked him, clawed that smug smile off his face, left him heaving on the floor, reduce him to nothing but a ball. But, she hadn’t; Amaris had walked away, and she was regretting it. Sure, the option of walking back to his room and knocking some sense into the spiteful man was still alive and well, but it wouldn’t be the same. It had lost the momentum, she had wasted the perfect opportunity to set things straight.

She grinded her teeth as she entered the cockpit, the pressurized door preventing Amaris from taking out her rage against it. What she wouldn’t give to take a swing at something – anything really, she wasn’t picky. Dark words rolling off her tongue, she made her way towards the pilot chair. Hand clasped on the back, she spun it around, and with a single squeak to signify the foreign weight of her body, Amaris turned to the controls, “Fraking kriffing,” she muttered amidst breaths, fingers skillfully playing across the board, “…I got barrels of money,” She mimicked, face pulled into an exaggerated grin, “…ragged and funny, blah, blah, blah.” She scoffed, eyes were rolled. Funny and ragged her ass. If this guy thought this trip was going to be a walk in the park, he had another thing coming.

It was fair to say that Amaris wasn’t necessarily hurt by the people’s demise; she didn’t even know them. But, his utter disregard for their lives, talking about them as he were talking about nothing more than a piece of trash really did bother her. It made her skin crawl and a sour taste appear in her mouth – how she hated it. A small frown crossed Amaris’ brow as she checked the control panel, but did little besides check the fuel and return her attention to the task at hand – lift off.

Life sprung across the once lifeless ship. In a matter of seconds, silence was broken across Decipio, its motors beginning to purr with life. The previously unresponsive form moved under Amaris’ smallest of commands, pulling away from solid ground. With a small jerk forward, the Zelosian pulled back on the throttle levers. She could hear how fuel began pumping across the ship’s engine, the distinct whirring of the motors filling the air and before she knew it, the ship sped forward, away from the port and into Nar Shaddaa air.

Generally, the trip across the moon’s atmosphere and into space would have been quite uneventful for the Zelosian, but the male that had hired her – his confession kept coming back to her constantly. So much so, that after fifteen minutes of enjoying nothing more than her own company, Amaris gave a groan. ‘Fine,’ she told herself, ‘…I’ll find out what the void I’m dealing with and after that, I’m done.’ She wouldn’t pry, she wouldn’t ask; void, she’d even stir clear of the man. All the Zelosian wanted was to find out what exactly was going on and if she was in and over her head – again.

Typing coordinates into the control panel, the female gave a little sigh – she was going to need a drink after this. With her attention torn between flying and typing, Amaris accessed the holonet, intent on calling someone that could help with her little dilemma.

Laughter was the first sound that greeted her ears, followed by the sound of music and clinking of glasses. It took her a couple of seconds for her eyes to adjust to the blurry images, but before long, the hazy face of a bothan could be viewed. “Take it you’re having another get together, Efad?” The Zelosian grinned as she recognized her friend’s face – his wide grin and peppered fur definitely comforting after the earlier exchange. “Ama!” His voice came after a while, some form of delay quickly apparent.

Amaris shook her hands, a desperate attempt to prevent the male from changing the conversation before she even got a chance to begin it. “Efad, got a question for you.”

“If you’re asking me to marry you; Ama, you know the answer,” Came the quick reply, prompting a blink from the Zelosian. What the hell was he talking about? “I’m a free spirit, a man of passions, one that cannot be tamed.” Was he really? She chuckled. That guy was really something at times.

“You break my heart, Efad. But that’s not what I’m asking you.” She quipped, eyes traveling to the endless sky before her, before shifting to the Bothan again. “You’ve heard anything interesting lately,” She started, a bit unsure as to how approach the question. The minute Efad was unto her, the minute she was going to regret asking for his help. “I don’t know,” She shrugged her shoulders, “…like a mass murder or anything the like?”

His eyes narrowed down considerably, face pulled closer to the screen. “Why? What did you hear?” She could tell he had lowered his voice considerably, trying to keep his guests away from eavesdropping into the conversation. He shifted – and with it the scene, as the Bothan seemed to cross his living room rather quickly and to the privacy of his room. “Well?” He demanded when greeted by Amaris’ silence, making the woman shift uncomfortably.

“N-nothing!” Came the blatant lie, “Can’t I just be curious?” No, she couldn’t; and Efad was well aware of the fact. It wasn’t the first time she had approached him with these type of questions; nor would it be the last. She knew it, he knew it, and it was a dynamic both had come to accept, love, and hate all at the same time. Granted, Amaris would prefer if it could change into normalcy, but neither her job nor her friend, for that matter, would allow for this change to take place.

“Don’t get me wrong, but usually when you get curious is ‘cause you got your panty in a knot.” She could see him scratching the back of his head, brows raised up in question, “So, you wanna tell me what’s got you all ruffled up?” Not really; she’d pass on this occasion. “Look, do you know anything or not?”

“Well, I haven’t heard anything yet…” He tapped on his chin thoughtfully, making Amaris pinch the bridge of her nose. “…but I’ll give you a call once I do.” Great, it was a start. If anyone could find out what exactly had happened, who this guy had managed to get upset, and if she could potentially get in trouble, it would be him. A thankful smile crossed the Zelosian’s lips, her chest feeling considerably less constricted.

“Thank you – and, Efad, please be discreet.”

“Ama, when aren’t I?” She shook her head, the conversation ending as Efad turned his receiver off. The green screen across Amaris soon followed suit, eyes settling on the sky that grew considerably darker in shade. It wouldn’t be long now.

It was strange to feel how the atmosphere suddenly disappeared, to feel the ship lunge forward before it eased. While the speed of Decipio had not decreased, it now felt as if the ship had become considerably slower as well. With the ship stabilized and coordinates set, the woman was free to sit back on her seat.

“This is going to be a long trip.”

The jolt of take off and sudden entering of the space was enough to jolt the inexperienced from the safety of their own comforts but the extent at which Haust traveled made him very comfortable. Now sitting in the common room, in the span of ten minutes he'd already covered eighty pages, he could always rush through book fairly fast not being required to re-read or turn back a few pages due to having an eidetic memory. Though it was intellectually fulfilling he was curious as to if someone sound based could stimulate his senses, he looked up to the holonet terminal and with the wave and twiddle of his finger turned it on from across the room adjusting the frequency to the INN news network..

Listening intently he continued to read. before the announcement he heard caused him to pause and look up with a sense of bliss.

A suspect was witnessed fleeing the scene being described as a tall individual, likely male and human or near-human

With his entire family pronounced death at the scene, consisting of his wife, four sons and daughter he is sadly survived by no one. Locals are blaming this dastardly attack on rival gangs and cartels. An underworld war is rumored to be brewing in the wake of this attack as no gangs or organizations have thus far taken credit for this attack.

With another wave of his hand he flipped off the terminal a slight smirk twisting at the right corners of his lips, he was quite proud of his work. As was pleasantly surprised that so many details were broadcasted where many criminal would sit in fear he sat in comfort, relaxation confident or arrogant that he was away from any acts of retribution.

Sitting in the chair, his legs crossed his tainted sulfur and bloodshot eyes returning to his book and grinned widely as he slid the bookmark ribbon to the center of the page before closing the book and sitting in silence for few minutes. The soft humming of the ship and gravitational feeling of movement albeit minimal and below the notice of most. However it was in these moments he was reminded of the solitude he often suffered in the nights the price of freedom a price he gladly paid.

It was the shallow beeping of his comm unit it his room that forced him to arise as he made his way back to his quarters. The ship was actually eerie in it's own special way, only two people on board this large vessel. As he finally made way to his quarters and lifted his comm and turning it on. A hologram of a large obese human male dressed in a business attire appeared.

"Ah Mr. Haust I trust your vacation has gone well so far?" He asked causing Haust to chuckle lightly before responding. "Yes it went very.. explosively enough to make heads roll." He smiled pleasantly at the though of his wording as the man in the hologram nodded and he quickly restarted conversation. "Now, I'll require 15,000 credits in bills upon my arrival to Zeltros Southern Province starport in two days, pull it out of my off world accounts I don't care which one. And make sure the Natal party is equipped with many many slave boys..that man has a thing for the boys."

"Yes sir, Mr. Haust will that be all?" He clasped his hands in front of himself making himself seem neutrally appealing. Haust himself nodded before clicking off the comm unit and setting it down along with his book and looking around for a moment before grabbing the silver shot glass and bottle of Corellian brandy and making his way back to the commons area.

The Zelosian found no comfort at the parting words she and the Bothan had exchanged. In fact, no soon had the com clicked off, that the tugging had begun. It was a foreign sensation that pricked the back of her head, coming in quick bursts from time to time, burning fervently before dissipating in the stillness of the ship, all before the process began once more. Even when the feeling ceased, its presence haunted her mind, begging for her to listen, to pay attention – Amaris Sataj was in and over her head. Whatever, whoever the male had taken care of, would only bring untold amounts of misery and headaches folded into a single, unyielding mass. Amaris knew it, she didn’t need Efad to tell her this, but she needed to know what to expect.

Then again, did she really want to know? Did she want to busy herself by constantly worrying about whatever nightmare she had to endure, about the running, about the possible dangers? Or, did the smuggler prefer to live with a veil pressed against her emerald eyes, unwilling to see what stood before her? Ignorance, she figured in more than one occasion, could truly be liberating. The fight dragged within Amaris’ mind for minutes without end, growing progressively stronger, louder, making her body slump forward, fingers pinching the bridge of the nose. The simple gesture was desperate – an attempt to soothe away the headaches this mission was already giving her.

“I need a drink.” The words were bland, without any particular reasoning. They almost seemed like a fleeting breath that echoed in the silent cockpit, disappearing just as quickly as it had come. But even with the words that left her, the potential promise of some elixir comforting her tensed frame, Amaris did not move. She was torn; Amaris was torn between the idea of staying secluded in this makeshift haven of hers, away from the male and his tiresome grin – the one that made her want to punch him in more than one occasion – and making her way towards the common room, retrieving the unopened bottle of whiskey which could help her relax. A placebo effect, the Zelosian admitted, she had come to love.

She tested her options carefully, lips pursed tightly. It was with a heavy sigh that Amaris reached a decision, one that, she hoped, she wouldn’t regret. She grimaced at the thought, hand pulled from her brow, finding itself settled on the plastic armrest at her side. The Zelosian pivoted the pilot chair, a squeaking protest released at the sudden movement it endured. Amaris glanced down at the chair, weary eyes studying the leather bounds and stitches that had slowly become undone over the years; she would probably have to replace it sometime soon. But for now, the squeaking served as a companion to the endless trips she sometimes endured – and, most likely, the only figure that would keep her sane in this trip to Zeltros.

With a barely audible sigh, Amaris came to a stance and with hesitant steps, moved away from the security of the room. The woman retraced her earlier steps, her feet dragging her lazily down the hallway, down the stairs, and to the familiar common area. When the woman had half-expected to be met by the looming figure that was that fraking man, Amaris found comfort in the abandoned room. The dark cloud that had loomed above the woman’s head, lifted seamlessly, a smile creeping across full lips. “Thank the fraking Force.” It was funny to see how the demeanor changed with the woman. Her once tentative steps became bolder, sharper strides taken by her body. There was no hesitation, no doubt, and, perhaps, even a hint of thankfulness.

She clicked her tongue thoughtfully as she explored the familiar room, hands flying about the cupboards trying to remember where exactly she had left that damned bottle – she hadn’t taken it down, of that she was sure. It was something she kept around whenever particularly difficult moments were pushing at her head. Amaris bit the side of her lip, crouching down to examine the lower cabinet. Brows were knotted in concentration as she rummaged through the contents, the clinking of glass ringing in her ears. As the Zelosian studied the cupboard, cursing herself under her breath, she was unable to hear the nearing footsteps.

Heck, it wasn’t until the steps were inches away, that Amaris closed her eyes in disbelief, an audible curse rolling through her lips. With a sigh, the Zelosian turned slightly, meeting matted blonde hair and an outfit of fine consistency. The void? Amaris raised an inquisitive brow, eyes following the now unmasked man, a sneer pulling at her lips. “I see you’ve made yourself at home,” The halfhearted words left her lips, eyes trailing across the dark labels that stretched across dark bottles. Amaris said nothing as she pulled at the bottles, pushing them aside as she buried her body into the shelf. “…honestly, I started to think that you were nothing but shadows and stupid grins.” She chuckled dryly as hands reached the smooth surface of the unopened bottle, a grateful ‘Ah!’ crossing her lips.

She stood briskly, shifting her weight between tired legs, though immediately favored her right. She didn’t say nothing as she reached towards a counter, retrieving an aluminum mug that had been dented over the years of use. The bottle was opened, liquid poured tentatively into the glass, a relieved sigh rolling from her chest. She was already feeling better. She took a quick sip and turned to look at her male counterpart with slight disinterest, before speaking up casually, “So, what exactly is up with that get-up?”

Get slightly drunk, and sleep an excellent plan given the current situation where there was nothing more to do except laze about on the ship. His white Pajamas flowed easily as he walked slowly to the commons area his slippers making soft yet pronounced taps against the hard floor. The bottom and silver highball cup in one hand as his hair, it was groomed in a corporate acceptable fashion. As he made his way down eh hall he had taken advice heeded to him awhile ago and already knew she was there, he could feel her presence and though in normal situations it would push him to attempt more upset banter he'd really only desired to drink and enjoy the brandy.

Entering the commons area looking at her from behind as a slight smirk formed on his lips as he watched her while moving to the seat he'd read at only moments before.

“I see you’ve made yourself at home,”

He paused in his steps looking to her allowing her to finished looking and shuffling through the cupboard. He ignored her statement at it could be taken rhetorically, he walked to his seat plopping down seated rather lazily before setting the bottle and highball glass on the table nearby. though he quickly occupied his hands with opening the bottle and setting the cap aside as he filled his glass halfway he didn't respond to the snipe of his use of shadows and stupid grins instead setting the bottle down and lifting the glass to his lips and drinking down a shot's worth, before crossing his legs and leaning back as he smiled and retorting.

"Oh darling, Nar Shadda is filled with shadows and stupid grins I thought you of all people would appreciate it, after all I am quite accommodating."

He chuckled softly before drinking down now only a sip he could feel the rush of warmth go through his body as the brandy ran down his throat cause him to exhale relaxed. He watched as she reached to the counter the shift in here legs causing her rear to shift side to side. It was definitely more interesting than anything that was currently on the holonet. He didn't fail to notice the dented aluminum mug an item he would have discarded long ago however most weren't as posh as he. As she turned looking to him and spoke,

“So, what exactly is up with that get-up?”

The comment didn't effect of outward expressions nor his body language he was in fact quite relaxed and seemed to be serene as if in meditation however his sulfurous eyes only watched her containing the taint of the darkside. He took another sip letting there be a pause before he responded.

"It's comfortable, airy and contrary to it's appearances quite modest it serves it's purpose as pajamas. You seem for comfortable yourself have you come to terms with the current situations or are you still feeling anxious over death? I my self made peace with the concept of death long ago."

He stopped there, he could continue and a part of him urged him to continue with verbose banter however his mixture of curiosity and her wit made him interested and what her response would be. He took another sip of the brandy before standing while setting down his glass and slowly approaching her stopping short of three feet in front of her. While he just condemned speaking more, Haust is a talker.

"You know I could share the details, the heat of the moment, the screams, the look of defeat and utter terror on their faces..."

He stopped only a few seconds before smiling.

"Or we can drop the unpleasant topic you seem to have over death, killing and before you scrounge that brow and wrinkle those very beautiful feature you should know... You asked about it, sometimes ignorance is bliss. A Wise man once said before he met his unfortunate demise that if you really don't want to know what is hidden under a rock, simply don't lift the rock. Equivalent to you asking an inanimate cargo container why it needs to be smuggled. The why isn't important at least not to you, only the weight, location and time to be delivered should be deemed important details.

Otherwise you end up with information that doesn't even affect you, and only upsets you. By the way my name is Haust most call me Haust or Mr. Haust you can call me Haust though I am quite comfortable with the alias idiom you've imprinted on me thus far of ...'Babe'. It matters not to me truly, and you are Amaris and now we are semi formally introduced."

A single hand slid into his pocket fingers teasing the expensive metallic edges of his lightsaber it wasn't so much of an action with intent but rather an action of habit. As he stood he'd already analyzed her, studied possible reaction points speed movements even his distance of three feet were carefully calculated, it allowed him to remain out of her reach but her within his.

His other hand he offered it out to her in a gesture of greeting and possibly to bury the hatchet, it was more out of cordial respect than anything more.

Amaris peered through heavy lashes to where the male sat, vibrant green meeting citron yellow. She held his gaze as he spoke, every word dripping from his lips and reverberating through her mind endlessly. It was an annoying sensation that clawed at the recesses of her head, biting and hissing with unusual might. Yet, while the Zelosian had previously pushed the sensation away, attempted to lock it in shadowed depths, this time Amaris listened. She listened carefully, each word weighed and processed with unusual care. She didn’t let any other thought intrude on her musings; even as her body leaned back into the counter, glass brought to her lips as she sipped the liquid, it all seemed from memory.

Minutes dragged before the locked gazes broke, Amaris’ eyes flittering to the swirling liquid in her glass. “I don’t feel anxious by the presence of death.” Death – it was such a curious thing. She didn’t fear it, truth be told, neither did she embrace it. The Zelosian found it as a reality, yes, something that could never be escaped, no matter the circumstance. It was something that existed, a part of life, nothing more and nothing less. She had killed before, regrettably, but it was something that she didn’t really plan on. Those handfuls of deaths were a necessity – something the Zelosian had to do in order to survive. She regretted them to a certain extent, but the smuggler knew that if those lives hadn’t been ended, her own would have been stolen. Someone needed to give, someone needed to yield, and by the void, it wasn’t going to be her.

She pursed her lips, chewing on her lips before she drank the cup dry. A shudder shook her body visibly as the warm liquid rolled down her throat. Instinctively, hand reached towards the bottle, serving another glass, “I know it’s something that happens, death, that is; void, it comes with the territory.” She continued, dainty fingers trailing the edge of the aluminum cup. The cool surface brought unusual solace to the woman’s form, preventing her from indulging in the dark thought’s presence for too long. As cold skin skidded across the smooth surface, green eyes shot up to meet the male’s own. “But you could look less content by it. It’s not something one should take lightly.” The words were cautionary, directed to the assumed assassin, yet Amaris knew that the words were intended to herself as well.

With a barely noticeable sigh, Amaris strained slightly, boot kicking softly against the counter. She moved, if only slightly, popping a knot that crept its way up her back It wasn’t the stupid smile that made her raise her eyes and cock her head thoughtfully to the side, it wasn’t the winded explanation of his attire. In fact, throughout the process, she had remained unmoved, thumbing with detachment at a grease smear across her jacket. No, what finally capture the smuggler’s attention and brought back to the man once more was what he said next – how he toyed with the idea of the screaming and the blood and the pain. It was his words that made the Zelosian look up, not how he stood or made his way closer. Amaris sighed heavily, shaking her head, “Please tell me that’s not your pillow talk conversation with whoever you bed.” She grimaced slightly, left arm draped lazily across her chest, her right hand, armed with the glass, swaying incriminatingly in his direction, “Word from the wise, pretty sure it kills the mood.” She blinked. Then again, there were always strange, sick people in this Galaxy – she shuddered at the thought.

To the Zelosian’s relief, the heavy conversation shifted to a lighter one, for lack of a better word. Granted, if Amaris was left to describe what came next, she would call it equally tedious. Muscles tugged at the corners of her lips, the indifference one described by her face replaced by a small smile. A small chuckle, one that surprised Amaris herself, followed the smile, drowned in the brim of her glass, “If said cargo will endanger my well-being,” The Zelosian said mid-sip, her voice seemingly clipped. “I sure as void consider it significant.” After all, if she was going to be risking her neck for something, she wanted to know what was so damn important.

Her taut muscles clenched and unclenched, easing the tension that crawled under her skin. While her posture became significantly more relaxed than it had originally been, Amaris’ eyes followed the man with unusual care, looking for the slightest threat. Seeing none, eyes drifted downwards, towards her pockets. “People in this moon don’t like getting their toes stepped on and we both know you did more than that.” She rummaged through the contents carelessly, pulling a few spare credits out, abandoning them in the counter without care. She clicked her tongue; hand retrieved, and buried into her other pocket. Where the hell did I leave ‘em?’ It was a nasty habit, smoking, but one that she picked up shortly after joining the Typhoon at the age of twenty-one. She tried to quit on multiple occasion, but whether it be a placebo or the actual chemicals taking a hold of her body, she failed again and again. It didn’t help that the Zelosian was constantly placed close to its tentative embrace. Maybe it was a good thing she couldn’t find them.

Sound caught her attention again, though this time the conversation had shifted into more proper introductions. “Well, that doesn’t seem fair.” She chuckled, lips curled playfully, “You knew my name before this, and I didn’t know yours?” Then again, should it really surprise her? She rolled her shoulders, heaving with feigned grief. “Horrible manners that you have there, Haust.” What a weird name. For some reason, he had struck her more of the Francis or Lawrence type.

It was his gesture that made Amaris look down into an extended hand. She eyed it carefully; the Zelosian unsure at first if whether or not she should accept the friendly gesture. There was a clink as her glass was set down in the counter. Tentatively, slowly, her hand reached out, and while she knew that sometime in the feature she would regret it, she took his hand in her own. At the very least she could try to make things bearable for the time being. She’d worry about the feature once it came.

“But you could look less content by it. It’s not something one should take lightly.”

The statement made Haust want to laugh but he didn't, he held back such gestures. No longer slouched nor attempting to hide his face he stood straight giving off his full height as she spoke he listened took it all in like a sponge yet decided to not consider most of it. While she spoke truth it was truth he was already aware of. However her talk of being less content was amusing as he back tracked to retort to it.

"I disagree, while most people who kill may wish to regret it I don't, one should never regret what they are good at. You don't see soldiers upset they killed the enemy or pilots upset they can fly better than others. It's a secret to enjoyment to enjoy all aspects of what you can do, He could have avoided death if he only repaid his debt instead refusing and hiding behind his... posse."

He shrugged slightly his entire demeanor giving off a sense of pure apathy over it, a truthful expression. Haust didn't care he killed them, it didn't even trigger a flicker of guilt in his mind for him it was a mixture of business and pleasure while most who borrowed money from a casino were hit with credit sanctions, banned. A crime lord of more difficult to collect from they had underworld connections and could be protected from bounty hunters and debt collectors however when it came to 'their' kind Haust often tasked it to himself to handle such situations personally.

The theatrics of using explosives and the violent nature of beheading often served as a reminder to future clients the seriousness of their loans and obligations to repay them. Locals fell under the laws of the planet but those to sat on the fringe required to be neutralized and items repossessed to fulfilled lost revenue.

Even after the mention of toes he smirked, realizing though it may be true that Oppo Gendari had stepped on his toes and paid for it dearly. Even more so, just as Haust had intended to make it a large spectacle worthy of attention. However he was pulled from thoughts of business as she spoke of his manners however he ignore that for the moment as he took her hand gently into his shaking it slowly. This time he smirked amusingly, as he looked around the commons area and looked to her before releasing her hand.

"Hmm ... nothing, As for my manners I know very much about you I did choose you to partake of this transportation endeavor after all with very special consideration into experience."

He stepped back toward the chair walking backward instead of facing his back to her as he continued speaking, in a calm tone.

"If you desire I will gladly share this.. brandy with you aged, smooth twice the alcoholic content of it's peer products and offers to make one very relaxed."

Finishing he turned to sit in the chair gesturing to the bottle a moment before lifting his own glass and sipping from it lightly as he looked to her with those corrupted eyes.

“Oh? So now it was a posse?” Amaris chuckled dryly; glass held appreciatively in the air, “At the rate you’re going, blondie, next time you’ll be telling me that it was a rancor-riding army.” With rocket-launchers mounted in their shoulders – oh, and shooting lasers out of their eyes! Yeah, that sounded good. Though, she had to give it to him, it would definitely make a better story that way; she liked it better anyways.

Special consideration to experience? Well that definitely had to be a joke. To say the Zelosian had experience would be a rather gentle way to put it. In fact, if given the option, Amaris would most likely refer to it as an unusual familiarity with unwanted issues that she got dragged into. Most of the time, the jobs she got weren’t necessarily what the woman would call ideal, but there was always little choice to refuse. She needed the credits, so she did what she had to. She didn’t regret the jobs she took, it was business; but what she needed to do, how low she sometimes had to stoop, was a thorn constantly digging at her side – her constant reminder.

Still, the Zelosian tried her very best to not appear moved by the words and took another sip of the warm liquid. Amaris sighed softly at the familiar taste; eyes fluttered close as she shook her head. “Really? Can’t imagine who would recommend me.” She quipped, glass pressed thoughtfully against her lip. True, she was good enough at her job; fast, precise, and fairly priced. But, Amaris sometimes lacked the thick-skin the job sometimes required, making her take some questionable actions. From threatening employers, to shooting cargo into space – and maybe combining the latter two as well. She smirked; actually losing the client to some ridiculous display could be just as rewarding as a case full of credits.

“Well, whoever they were, gotta hand it to them – they had good taste.”

Well, this guy was starting to grow on her – like a tumor. Even his endless babbling didn’t seem so vexing. Or, maybe it was the promise of a fairly nice liquor talking. Whatever the case, Amaris shrugged her shoulders, a small ‘Why not?’ crossing her lips; who knew? It could even make her see this whole ordeal as somewhat amusing if it all played well. Sure, the alcohol would have no effect on the Zelosian, other than provide her with a pleasant warmth that made her smile and lean back lazily on her chair, but she could damn as void enjoy it. Amaris pushed herself off the counter she had claimed as her perch, following Haust a few second after he seated himself on a chair.

Easy steps carried the female across the common area and towards the small silver table. Her hand reached out towards the back of a chair, a screech cutting out through the air as the seat was pulled out. She shifted, a sigh released, and abruptly sat down. As the cup she had been carrying was set on the table with a small sound, the Zelosian couldn’t help but stare at Haust for a second. His eyes – they were unlike any she had seen before. The Galaxy was full of strange physical characteristics and quirks, lack of eyes, lack of irises, eyes that glowed in the dark, but rarely did she see anything like them. She clicked her tongue, head tilted curiously, before brushing this oddity away – maybe it was nothing worth noticing.

Her posture relaxed, arms folded against the cold surface. After a few seconds, Amaris glanced back at the male, a small laugh rolling from her chest. “Oh believe me,” Her voice trailed, muscles pulling full lips into a grin, “It’d take something a lot stronger than that to relax this smuggler.” Her features relaxed, jutting her head against her open palm.
