This is an important list of things to do / keep in mind while filling out your application. Even senior members should have read/done these things once...that's all I ask.
Okay, now for the next part...the application.
1) DO NOT put anything but your character's NAME in the title of your App!
2) If it is a work in progress or you're making a large/long addition or revamp (as opposed to making suggested changes) add "WIP" at the end of the title.
3) When it is ready to be reviewed by a mod REMOVE the "WIP" in the title and post that you are ready for review (or some such.)
4) DO NOT add anything else into the title...period. This includes 'Finished', additional titles for your character, or exclamations about how happy you are at character's approval, thank you.
5) DO NOT bump your thread after you've replied stating that you've made the appropriate changes! I work from the bottom up so I can get through the older apps first. Your turn will come, I promise! Try to be patient. (This includes PMing me the link to your application, or pestering me in the c-box about it. I know your app is there, I've seen the WIP removed from your title, I -do- have other things to do in life, I'm very sorry it takes a while, but (unfortunately) I am not getting paid to do this. Pestering me will likely end up putting you on the bottom of the 'to look at' list. Help yourself by not poking everyone every five seconds to look at your character. If you have questions or concerns about how to fill out your app, feel free to pester me with THOSE. Thank you.)
6) PLEASE DO NOT take offense at my reviews, or the reviews of others. Everyone here is allowed to review, and we do try to help you in any and every way that we can. Personally speaking, sometimes my reviews seem harsh, and I may/may not ask for lots of changes to be made...believe me that this is not meant to be malicious, I am simply trying to do my job and polish your app. up so you can have a good time and make your next application go more smoothly.
7) Concerning ALL Stats: DO NOT add any explanations to your stats. All I want to see here are numbers, your evidence for why they are as high/low as they are should be IN YOUR BIO/HISTORY.
Okay, moving on to the Application itself:
Name: Simple enough, no? Potentially.
Race: The one thing that all of your bio revolves around. Everything from stats and history, to name and appearance. If you've not figured out everything you can about your race your application just won't mesh like it's supposed to, making you put in much more effort than is needed because of modifications. This is where Wookieepedia comes in handy! Use it to get info on what kind of name you should have, how your appearance will be, average height, weight, ect. EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND THIS!
Age: Yet another factor that your whole application will revolve around. Don't take this lightly! The older your character the longer your history will need to be. Also, Stats like height, weight, strength, what he/she had learned will also be affected by this. The younger the character, the lower the stats will be.
Birth place: Please make sure that this coincides with your character's race. It doesn't make much sense for a Selkath to be born somewhere other than Manaan. If they are, the reasoning should be put into the bio.
Height: measurements should be in feet (ft.) and inches (in.)
Weight: should be in pounds (lbs.)
(use a height/weight chart to help gauge how much your character should weigh! it's okay if you want your character to be a twig or over weight, just be sure that you KNOW you're doing it! here's a good link: www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm .....Women's chart is first, Men's chart is second
Here's also a metric converter calculator site. On the right side of the page there are several links to popular conversions...those should help with the height and weight conversions. www.metric-conversions.org/ )
It is okay to ADD (in parenthesis, or in a smaller font, etc) whatever measurement you're used to to help you keep track, but PLEASE for the sake of us American mods (which most of us are) have Feet/inches and lbs. as your primary measurements.
Eye Color: Please be realistic to the race you have chosen...if you aren't going to be realistic (ex: lavender color eyes) then at least have a reason why they are this color in the appearance section AND the bio.
Hair/Fur Color: The main color(s) of their hair or fur. Most of you silly minions haven't been adding this to your descriptions (bad minions! bad!) So I went ahead and added this in. If you have a furry character and that fur has patterns, feel free to go a little in depth with the patterns. If your person has highlights or streaks, let us know in here also...just don't make this horribly long.
Appearance: This MUST have a written description. If you want a picture as well, that's fine, but I would also like a written description including any identifying features the character might have. (ie: scars, birthmarks, tattoos, an extra finger, ect.) It should also include hair color and eye color.
Personality: This is for you to describe your character's personality. Please, to the best of your ability, try to give us a good description. A character with a nice, thought out personality is so much more interesting than one who only has one thing going for them. And, you'll find that taking some time to put some thought into their goals and what drives them will usually help you play the character better IC, so put some thought into it.
Profession: Any of the professions listed in the active character list will work here, but make sure it makes sense with what kind of skills they use and have acquired. Once you choose a primary (listing) profession you may add a secondary profession (if it helps describe more accurately what they do).
Ex: Grey Jedi / mechanic -or- Fringer / thief & information broker
Please remember, though, I need to be able to categorize your character under one of these professions. If you wish to have a profession added to the list, please PM me and we will discuss it.
Here is the list of professions:
Pirate
Crime Lord
Bounty Hunter
Terrorist
Smuggler
Mercenary
Assassin
Fringer
Stellar Mythic
Grey Jedi
Previous Faction: (for grey jedi only)Dark Jedi, Jedi, or Other if you were part of neither and instead trained by another grey jedi or another force using faction but have left that faction (Ex: previously a Mythic but no longer one).
Mastery Level: Your Grey Jedi's mastery of the force will show through their mastery level. Force sensitive being untrained or trained for VERY minimally, Apprentice being a learner still or only slightly trained, Knight typically being of average skill in force use but most importantly not yet having had an apprentice (or one that's been knighted), and Master...that's fairly obvious (you must have had an apprentice be knighted to become a master).
Skills: be sure these will be helpful with your profession! it's fine to have a few skills that don't match up with your profession, but the main things you want to list here are the skills that your character would use BECAUSE of their profession.
Note: PLEASE be sure that your skills are in a list format of 3-4 items (more skills than that and I may/may not ask you for stats)
ALSO please note that things like "luck" or "artificial organs can siphon out toxins more easily" are not considered skills. A skill is something that a person can do consciously. Dictionary.com Definition of "Skill" link
Lightsaber: if you left the order before you became a padawan you would not have a saber (though I also doubt it would happen)...if you left AFTER becoming a padawan, you might have been able to sneak yours out or make a new one...
Color: basically any color, shade and sheen are allowed. Exceptions are black and white.
Practiced Lightsaber forms: You must have a 5 in Shii Cho (the basic lightsaber form. it WILL be taught first to any jedi, Grey, Dark, or Light...so it should always be their highest level saber form) BEFORE you can master any other saber form.
You must have a 5 in three other saber forms before you can learn Juyo.

Specialized Skills: Here is the link for these abilities: CLICK ME! You may choose one or two, but know that you must have a detailed description of how you came to have this ability in your profile.

Ship Name:There are several ways/places to get a ship if you want one:
1) it is a canon ship that you found on the wookiee (not many from this era and we don't accept much from KotoR games so this may not be the best way to go)
2) you can use an already accepted "stock" ship or vehicle from our tech section. (it may take a bit of digging, but there are some good ones in there if you look and they're already accepted!)
3) you can create your own in the Tech section. Once it's approved by Arheim I can accept it as a valid ship. (most people go this route, making their ship at the same time as their app and waiting for approval of both)
When you have a ship chosen, link that thread/wookiee page back here before your character can be approved. (you DON'T have to have a ship if you don't want one!)
How to link:
Use underline or color tags (inside the url tags) to show that it's a link.
Bio: PLEASE BE CORRECT! This is a writing forum, obviously, so start showing off your writing skills here. It is highly recommended that you copy and paste the entire application into a word processor to fill it out. We are not here to check your spelling and grammar, but we will hold you responsible for it. If you don't follow the basic rules of writing we WILL ask you to correct your problems and WILL NOT approve you until you do.
PLEASE BE ACCURATE! There is nothing more frustrating for a moderator than to have to repeat the same things over and over, so I'll state it here: READ THE PLOT. There IS a time line for this site, you should know it and keep this in mind while writing your history. Remember our history (as a site) is your history (as a character), and so obviously the site history will effect your history. What does that mean? It means don't use weapons that don't exist yet. Don't visit planets that haven't been discovered or have been destroyed. Don't refer to events that haven't happened yet, or events that are so far in the past that your character wouldn't have lived through them (unless of course they learned them in school).
PLEASE NO CANON RIP-OFFS! Yes, we all love that handsome scoundrel, Han Solo. Yes, we all think Chewie was cool. Sure, Jango and Boba Fett were BAMF bounty hunters/mandos...but there's a REASON why we don't allow canon characters here! We may love all the canons from the movies, the books, the games...whatever...but this is a place for ORIGINALS. If you rip off the character from one of the people we love, it loses something...there's just no flair, and for a Mod it's downright annoying! You wanted to join because we're different from other, hackneyed, Star Wars sites...the only reason we are is because our people keep the creativity coming with originals...not knock offs.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR TENSE! We write in 3rd person past here. What does this mean? "He said, she said, they said" it's something we're all used to reading and writing in, but sometimes we slip up...even myself. So before you finish your bio and RP sample, be sure to read over your draft and make sure that your tense is correct! You'd be surprised what taking a break then coming back and reading your own draft does! I find that the best way to catch my own mistakes before anyone else does...try it!
PLEASE BE DETAILED! As Squee likes to say "details details details!" Really, she's right. It's all about the details. What was your character's home life like? What were their parents like? What were their names? Did they have a crush in school that effected how they act? Were they the school bully, or the one being bullied? Did they run from point A to point B or did they walk? All of these things give us insight into your character and how they will react to things in the RP as well as telling us how things happened around them in their past! The more details the better off you are!
PLEASE HAVE FUN! This isn't a time line and it isn't a history report. Tell us a story about your character if you like! Make us want to read your character's story so we know where they came from! This CAN and SHOULD be done with minimal quotations....remember this isn't your RP sample....but it can be done in an interesting way most of the time. This isn't to say that writing your bio like a history book is wrong, it isn't, but try to have a little fun also. If it's interesting for you to write, it's interesting for us to read. ^_^
RP Sample: this MUST be a sample of how you will RP THIS character. DO NOT use a sample from another site or another character on this site.
Final Check List:
Did you read the site plot?
Did you read the rules?
Did you do whatever research you needed to do?
Did you get whatever permissions you might need?
Can your character be listed under one of the Active Character Professions easily?
Do you have your own ship? If so, is it approved and linked?
Have you checked out one or more of the accepted profiles listed?
Did you check your grammar, spelling, punctuation?
Did you give us some good details?
Did you re-read your application for mistakes?
Did you complete your RP sample?
Did you remove any unnecessary information from your title?
- Have you seen our Step By Step Guide? No? Here's the link: The Guide (link)
- Have you read our site plot? No? Here's the link: Site Plot in Announcements (link)
- Have you read the rules? Site Rules (link)
- Have you seen the List of Disallowed aspects? Guide to Unallowed Aspects (link)
- Have you checked out one or two of the 'accepted profiles' for the section? These give you a good feeling for how your profile should look and feel in order to be accepted.
- Have you taken the time to find all the information you need about the cannon Star Wars universe? If not here's one of THE most useful sites around. Learn it's url or bookmark for swift access, but here's the link for now: Wookieepedia
- Have you taken the time to do your research on anything else you might not have a good grasp on? Example: military, weaponry, definitions for/use of appropriate terminology (if there is any). A lot of times I've had to go and check stuff out online to help build a character because I don't know enough about the Real Life equivalent. It saves us all a lot of headaches and time working on rewriting/reviewing if you have at least a little bit of an idea of what you're talking about. If your character used to be in the military, but you don't know much about the military: go ask someone here or that you know or go look it up online. If your character uses a blaster or slug thrower, but you don't know much about them or what to do with them...try looking up gun safety procedures or care and cleaning. I'm not asking you to become an expert (not even close to one) but I am asking you to just make sure to know some of the basics...especially if you aren't sure/comfortable/used to playing with that particular weapon/background. Google.com, Wikipedia.com and our members/mods are all good sources for help with this.
Okay, now for the next part...the application.
1) DO NOT put anything but your character's NAME in the title of your App!
2) If it is a work in progress or you're making a large/long addition or revamp (as opposed to making suggested changes) add "WIP" at the end of the title.

Here's a breakdown of how stats are generally judged:
Learned Attributes
- 0-1 No experience
- 2-3 No experience with a small degree of natural ability, or very little training
- 4 Below Average- Has had some training or instruction, but below average, due to a lack of extensive training or a lack of aptitude
- 5 Average among those with training
- 6 Above average. Shows a substantial amount of training and experience, and a good aptitude for a skill. Still requires some sort of backing up
---
This (7) and up needs a sufficient amount of support in bio. The higher the number, the better it has to be explained. If it cannot be explained satisfactorily, you will be asked to expand upon it in the bio or to bring it down.
---
- 7 Very Good- Extensive training and experience. Shows a very strong aptitude. Beginning of the 'expert/master' levels of ability
- 8 Extremely Good- Shows a very high degree of natural aptitude and at least a decade of focused, dedicated training and experience. Usually not approved until the character is around 30 at the youngest.
- 9 Among the best in the Galaxy- Requires an extremely high level of natural aptitude, along with at the very least 20-25 years of focused, dedicated use and/or training in the area. Note that saying 'Character trained in such and such for 20/25+ years' and automatically expect a 9. It takes a high level of writing ability and a lot of effort to be trusted with one.
- 10 Perfect- Unallowed. Only there for reference. There are maybe one or two characters that have a ten, but they old, and are protected by the grandfather clause.
Physical Attributes
All physical stats are scaled against an adult Human male that's in reasonably good physical condition.
- 0-2 Very weak, or very slow. Not applicable for most species or most characters who are in good health
- 3- Still rather weak. Usually seen in children or individuals that are very ill or weakened for some other reason. May apply to some smaller species.
- 4- For Strength, average for Human or most near-human females. Below average speed; average for some of the larger, more lumbering races
- 5- Average speed and strength for an adult Human male in reasonably good physical condition.
- 6- Above average strength speed and strength for a human male. Females typically peak here. Most very healthy, very athletic individuals fit into this score.
For species that are somewhat stronger/faster than Humans, this would be an average score for an adult male in reasonably good physical condition.
---
This (7) and up needs a sufficient amount of support in bio. The higher the number, the better it has to be explained. If it cannot be explained satisfactorily, you will be asked to expand upon it in the bio or to bring it down.
---
- 7- For speed and strength, this is the peak for Humans and most near Humans, along with species that fit into that type of 'normal' range (like Twi'leks, Rodians, and so on). Strength is comparable to a professional bodybuilder; speed to an Olympic runner.
Slightly below average strength score for some of the stronger species.
- 8-9- For strength, this is where the stronger species like Togorians, Wookiees, Trandoshans, and so on usually fall. An 8 would be average, with a 9 being the peak. For speed, only the fastest species usually reach this.
- 10- Unallowed. Only available as a reference.
It should be noted that the increase between stat levels gets higher as the score increases. The difference between a 7 and an 8 is much larger than the difference between a 1 and a 2. As such, stats get weighed more and more heavily as they get up, and the amount of time it takes to increase between them gets longer and longer.
