"Ah frell, not again." Kailani mumbled darkly, trying to not to lose her grip on the simply massive jug of whiskey in her hand. The amber liquid swayed as the blonde continued to fumble, pretty brow creased in concentration.
Kailani Quix was locked out of her room, again. No matter what she changed the infernal pass-code to, no matter how many times tehy changed the back up codes, Kailani's entrance never worked. Never. Especially when she had a comically large amount of booze on hand. And ingested.
Her hand pounded against the keypad again, cursing vividly as the little light continued to flash red and angry at her. By the 10th failed attempt she gave in, the door having announced it would remain secured for the next 5 hours. This happened entirely too often.
"Fine, whatever ya frellin' piece of sh!t door. I dun need you anyway!" Kailani grumbled, smoothing back her thick curls with a hand before hoisting the enormous bottle back up against her chest. She'd sleep somewhere else for the night.
On thunderous and angry feet the larger-than-life pirate stalked the halls of the Bohemian, grumbling before taking another huge swig from her bottle, her winning from the nights game of Pazaak; Zeltrosian whiskey.
Glancing up and down the hallways she wondered faintly who she could bother. Lordura was probably in no mood to deal with her, and others weren't as friendly, the woman still a newcomer to the crew... That left only one other. Asyr.
A smile touched the corners of her lips as she thought of the impressive Echani, her closest friend on the ship. He had invited her to join the crew in the months before, and while she worked missions and did translations, she still came and went relatively as she pleased. It was a nice gig, full of money and freedom. But something stirred uneasily within her, was she getting too comfortable?
Approaching the door Kailani knocked twice, two loud cracks of knuckle against metal before calling in.
"Ey, Asyr. I locked myself outta my room again. Can I bum here? I've got booze."

Asyr lay stretched out lazily on his bed. His head was propped comfortably on his fingers, which were laced together and laying in turn on top of an old pillow that was past the end of two lifespans yet somehow still hadn't made it to the garbage. His legs were kicked up, one bent at the knee, the other folded over it and occasionally tapping gently against the wall as he lay there.
He wore a nightshirt, the sides of which were flapped open haphazardly on the bed because he hadn't taken the effort to button it up yet, and some loose lounge pants.
His hair was damp, his skin still soft from the warmth of a shower he'd left only a few minutes ago. His powder blue eyes were shut loosely, his thoughts in another place, at another time.
The room was silent, save the occasional bit of quiet humming. Still, save the steady rise and fall of his solid chest and the wandering, leisurely curling of the from the tip of a cigarra.
It was a quiet moment for the Ehcani; part of a daily routine that followed the end of one of his extended self-training sessions on the Bohemian's main deck. Now he was clean, free of the sweat and the smell of it that could've killed a nerf. He was relaxed, allowing his muscles some moments of respite before returning to his usual activities while the Bohemian, true to its name, drifted along through space to wherever the whims of its crew and captain next took it.
It was almost like a meditation of sorts, though he never looked at it that way. It just was.
Even Flitch had grown used to his routine. The draconic little droid lay on Asyr's dresser, tail curled around to the tip of his nose, with his holographic eagle's wings folded comfortably over his back.
It was a welcome respite from the droid's attempts to talk Asyr out of his line of work, or, at the least, try to convince the crew to go about things differently.
Whoever heard of a droid with a sense of morality?
But there it was, for better or for worse. For all his oddness, Flitch fit in with the crew. He was a part of the family now. The grumpy in-law that didn't like the way anyone else in the family handled themselves, but part of the family anyway.
A thought made a smile crack the Echani's face just as two sharp raps a-tappin' at his door forced him to crack an eye with a weary "Hm?"
Ey, Asyr. I look myself outta my room again. Can I bum here? I got booze."
Ahh, Kai. Now there was something to make him smile. Great friend, a beauty, and partner in all kinds and manner of mischief.
With a long, slow breath that sent smoke streaming through his nostrils Asyr sat up and swung his legs up over the bed to stand.
At the same time, Flitch lifted his head and cocked it slightly, photoreceptors trained on Asyr as an icy blue touched the white of his wings. "It seems Ms. Quix wants your company, Asyr. Should I leave the room again."
Asyr snorted a laugh as he stepped across his room, not bothering to button his shirt up. "Come on, Flitch, have some faith. You'll know if you need to leave." He flashed a grin at the droid as he passed. "You act like we've traumatized you or somethin'."
The droid's tail twitched as he hesitated. "Well---"
"Shhh, hold that thought," said Asyr as he reached the door and opened it.
It opened just enough for his body to fill the passageway and for him to stick his head out with a stupid grin.
"Well, well, Ms. Kai," he started smoothly, the cadence of his conversation with Flitch not missing a beat as the intended target changed, "booze is an accepted payment with Yevor Room Lock Out Entertainment Services, as you well now."
His grin became a smile, and his powder-blue eyes flashed with mischief. "However, that depends entirely what sort of booze you bring as payment."

With little shame Kailani pressed her small face against the durasteel, listening to the shuffling of Asyr within his quarters. Movement, muffled voices meandered through. A laugh, loud and discernible through the cool metal against her face. Gently setting the irresponsible amount of alcohol on to the ground, she adjusted her clothes, a simple, relatively modest outfit for lounging about the ship, a tank top that fell just a few centimeters above her navel and cargo shorts, useful for stashing any number of things to help cheat at cards. Satisfied the blonde pressed her face once more against the door, blatantly eavesdropping. He was talking, though not to her. Flitch no doubt. The little vaguely reptilian droid Asyr had procured by mysterious circumstanes was prone to voicing his displeasure with their lifestyles and actions, but he seemed polite most of the time.
More shuffling, Asyr's smooth voice growing louder and closer to the door. A smile touched the young woman's pink lips as she pulled away, resting casually against the door frame. With a swish it revealed her dear friend, who stopped the panel from opening entirely, wedging his impressive form just through, blue eyes sparkling with his grin.
"Well, well, Ms. Kai," He began, boyish face peering down at her as she took in the sight of him. Long white hair still damp, night shirt unbuttoned, revealing the chiseled marble of his chest, cigarra still in hand, grey wisps curling lazily up from his side. The blonde drank in his appearance with a grin of her own and for the briefest of moments felt overdressed, though surely that could change.
"booze is an accepted payment with Yevor Room Lock Out Entertainment Services, as you well now."
And oh how she knew. Many a night they had spent now merely enjoying one another's company. Stretched out across his bed, telling stories and jokes, maybe a card game, or an entertaining holo. Though more often than not they simply talked. Of simple things and shallow dreams, momentary regrets, a moment of clarity or depth quickly stifled with a joke or more alcohol on Kailani's part.
Usually as the night wore on they'd tumble through the sheets together, much to the little dragon-droid's dismay, but every now and then they'd mere talk until there was nothing more to talk of, drifting asleep side by side in comfort, to part with little bravado and sleepy smiles by morning time.
"However, that depends entirely what sort of booze you bring as payment."
"Whiskey," With triumph and herculean effort she held up the massive liquor bottle, wicked grin from ear to ear. "From Zeeeeeltros."
"I've been guaranteed that three swigs is enough to sedate even the most ornery bantha." Carefully she hoisted the monstrous bottle up and against the hard abs of the Echani, bidding him to take it. With the action to petite woman attempted to bridge the gap between them, pushing herself up onto the tips of her toes to gently brush her lips against the smooth, warm skin of his neck before looking up.
"And don't you go actin' like this is some chore for you, Yevor. You love when I come a knockin' on your door." Her grin ever wider as she released the bottle into his care. "You can admit it, you adore me."

Kailani smiled, and that made Asyr smile. It was hard resisting a smile from that fiery little woman. Harder still to resist the company that she often brought to his otherwise-quiet room.
The booze was icing on the cake, in truth; she would've gotten in even without out, and they both knew it.
That it was Zeltrosian was icing on the icing, if such a diabetic bliss existed.
Asyr eyed the bottle appraisingly as Kailani tapped it teasingly against his stomach and handed it over into his grasp. With the appropriate hmm-ing and thoughtful scratching of his chin he held the bottle near his face. He inspected the label briefly as he lifted the cigarra to his mouth for safekeeping. Then the bottle was hoisted up and spun deftly 'round so rays from the light out in the hall could shine through the amber liquid.
After an ample amount of inspecting and observing, Asyr lowered the bottle with a satisfied look about him. He took it into the crook of his arm, using a now-freed hand to relieve his mouth of his cigarra and blow a ghostly wisp over Kailani's head.
"Fine specimen you've brought for me, Ms. Kai," he said, sounding for all the world like an auctioneer. "It'll do just fine." He flashed her a smile, showing neat, white teeth and gave a short bow of his head before he stepped back into the room, disappearing behind the partially-open door.
Not a moment later it slid open, leaving him standing next to it, an arm extended welcomingly into his room. For all Asyr's rogueish ways, his room was the epitome of neatness, cleanliness, and order. His belongings were arranged neatly on his shelves and in his cupboards, his bed was made up well, save the depression his body had left from sleeping in it.
Despite his youthful rebellion against his father's strict military ways, this was the one thing that held over. It only remained in his personal quarters, and he didn't obsess over it as his father had, but it was there nonetheless.
Besides, the rooms onboard the Bohemian were not particularly large; order made use of the space he had in the best possible way.
"Welcome back," he said to her as he closed the door behind her. The whiskey he set on a small table near his bed. His own alcohol stock was lined up in a cupboard on the wall, but the table was closer to the bed. Fittingly, the whiskey she brought would see more immediate use.
"Hello, Misses Quix," Flitch said, addressing the Corellian woman. A quiet snicker from Asyr drew the droid's attention. "What?"
"Miss, Flitch, not misses." The Echani plopped himself casually on the bed and leaned back against the wall with his hands propped up behind his head. He cared little that it oppened his shirt further. "We ain't married, y'know." A laugh followed that, and he winked at the droid. Smoke rose lazily from his mouth, around the cigarra.
"Oh..." Flitch said slowly, lowering his head slightly. "My apologies. I never meant to imply that-"
"Settle down, it's alright," Asyr cut in, shaking his head slightly. "You're trying." With a wink and a smile, he turned to Kailani. "And that's all we can really ask, ain't it, Ms. Kai?"
He allowed a few moments to pass, puffing relaxedly at his cigarra before his returned his attention wholly to Kailani. "So how'd you lock yourself out this time, hm?" Asyr managed to raise a brow and give her a teasing grin at once, an expression that managed to be both curious and knowing. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say y' do it on purpose, sometimes.
He laughed, rich and clear.
"Not that it's complainin', now, mind you."

"Fine specimen you've brought for me, Ms. Kai. It'll do just fine."The tall man drawled with his trademark smile.
"Only the best, Paleface. Only the best."
Returning the grin Kailani slid into the room, plucking the cigarra from Asyr's mouth as she entered the eeriely well-kept room. Such a cleanly man, so far different than her own habits. Her own room on the pirate vessel was a certifiable disaster area, clothing in various states of cleanliness and usage were strewn about across every available surface. Empty and half-full bottles from nearly every alcohol producing world in the galaxy were carefully placed between the clothing like mines, waiting for the perfect foot to burst under.
But no, Yevor was a neat one, and she almost admired that about the handsome Echani. That and his obvious assets. The small woman snickered to herself, giving the half-clothed man a quick glance over before plopping unceremoniously onto the firm mattress, stretching out with a sigh, wrinkling the perfectly creased bedspread as owner and droid discussed the merits of formalities.
"Its fine, Flitch. You can call me anything ya like, 'cept Late for Dinner." The stolen cigarra settled between her lips comfortably, drawing in the sweet smooth smoke for a long moment before exhaling, watching the curling wisps float towards the ceiling above her.
"So how'd you lock yourself out this time, hm?" Asyr asked, teasingly.
"Its the same sh*t every frellin' time. The damn passcodes, I can't keep 'em straight. We've got a different passcode for everything on this damn ship. I swear someones messin' with me, changing them behind me." She grumbled, drawing another deep drag off the cigarra before holding it out to Yevor.
"Its prolly you, you're always awake and holed up in here when it happens, waiting for me." Her tone playful but accusing, giving him a look before tilting her head, inviting him to join her on the bed.

"Late for Dinner?" Flitch titled his head. His holographic wings flitted over his back, then settled over down again. "But, Kailani. I do not believe that you have come for dinner. And I don't believe you could be late, because Asyr was not planning a dinner when you arrived."
"That's right Flitch, just ruin all my secrets," Asyr teased, leaning against the wall. He chuckled as the droid attempted to explain himself, and winked at Kailani. "Don' worry 'bout it, Flitch. Not like women like airs of mystery around a fella, now is it, Miss Kai?"
Flitch sighed in consternation, and Asyr left the poor droid alone.
For now.
"Its the same sh*t every frellin' time. The damn passcodes, I can't keep 'em straight. We've got a different passcode for everything on this damn ship. I swear someones messin' with me, changing them behind me."
Asyr chuckled again. He took his cigarra back as Kai offered it to him and gathered two rocks glasses for their drinks. "I wouldn't know anything about that, Miss Kai," he said, his voice implying guilt even though they both knew his innocence in the matter. "Might I suggest writing them down on something until you have 'em memorized?" He flashed her a grin, pouring one drink, then a second.
"Or you can keep employing my entertainment services," Asyr went on as settled down on the bed with her. "I don't mind."
As he sprawled out and made himself comfortable, he picked up one of the glasses and handed it to Kai. The other, he kept for himself.
"A toast," he said, feeling an spur of the moment, "to forgettable codes." He made the toast and drank, shaking of the liquor's burn with a sigh.
"So. How shall we pass the time this time, hm? Shall I regale you with tales of daring adventure and triumph?"

"But, Kailani. I do not believe that you have come for dinner. And I don't believe you could be late, because Asyr was not planning a dinner when you arrived." The little droid, ever literal, prattled on the eerie artifical wings twitching as he went on, despite Asyr's laughter and gentle teasing.
"S'alright, Flitch. Just a joke, no hard feelings." The woman stretched luxuriously across the bed more before rolling over onto her stomach as Yevor joined her. Green eyes flicked up his form as he settled on the bed beside her, handing over her own glass filled with the amber liquid, flopping over to sit cross-legged beside him as their glasses clinked together in toast.
"Oh, Paleface, you know how to treat a girl." The blonde crowed, tossing back a gulp and letting the whiskey work its way down the fire snaking down to warm her belly in all the best of ways. "Oh, and I'm sure you're just an innocent lil' lamb in here with your lil' droid and your immaculate room, just waitin' for me."
Kailani's eyes fluttered shut as she relaxed back against the wall, enjoying the long moment on the warm comfy bed.
"Darin' adventure and triumph, huh? Don't tell me, Yevor, you're actually some sort a Republic secret agent. Flittin' across the galaxy with pirates, deep under cover. Or no, you're actually one of them force voodoo casters or whatever? Jeedai, Siff." Her voice teasing as she glanced down at the broad-chested Echani beside her, giving him another wolfish grin.
"What kinda stories do you have, Paleface? Maybe I'll trade ya for a coupla mine. They might even be true."

"Now, Miss Kai, you and I both know I'm the most innocent soul on this ship," Asyr said, voice smooth and even as he held back a chuckle. "I don' know why you'd go implyin' otherwise." They settled down on his bed after the shot, with Kailani leaning against the wall and Asyr leaning back beside her, one leg hanging loosely over the edge with the other crossed lazily over it.
He lifted his glass, quietly swirling the amber liquid inside while Kailani spoke. He smiled a bit at her playfulness. His reflection, distorted by the glass' curve, smiled back at him before he raised his eyes to the woman beside him.
"Ah, well, ya got me there," he said, lifting his hands as if she'd caught him sneaking into the pantry when he wasn't supposed to. "Thing is I'm not a Jedi or a Sith, see. Actually some kinda... part of a rare order of space wizards. Y'all think I'm a pirate, but I actually go travelin' all over the Galaxy," he made an expansive gesture at this, leaning forward as his arms stretched wide to either side, "fightin' off the forces of evil."
The Echani paused for a moment, silently praying his lovably-moronic droid wouldn't say anything to ruin the act. Flitch, or luck, obliged for once and Asyr looked at Kai with a clever smile on his face and a boyishly-amused glint in his silver-blue eyes.
"I'll tell ya a secret though," he said, voice dropping as he leaned closer to her. "The ancient texts say I'm really only at my strongest when I'm runnin' around in my bathrobe, see. But no one can see it. Would be too much power for an unprepared soul t' handle."
With that, Asyr leaned smugly back to his prior position, neatening the open flaps of his shirt before he took another sip of whiskey. "Y' almost caught me, y'know," he said with a wry grin, nodding to the pale blue robe hanging from a hook in the corner. "But alas, not this time."

"Space Wizards?" Kailani asked, blonde eyebrow tipping up at the very idea. She grinned again, taking another deep, delightful sip of the whiskey. Incredibly sweet, almost teeth-achingly so, those grimy plants new something good. Ferment somethin' till all the sugars gone and its nice and boozey, then throw it all back in so it'll rot your teeth and kill your liver all in one go. Wonderful stuff.
Asyr continued to spin his tale, his hands moving as he spoke. Kailani liked the way he moved when he told a story, never excessively, but just the right amount of drama. He'd let the quiet, grim parts be just sobering enough to make an impact before whirling into the good part. The adventure, the stupidity, the poor decisions. And sometime, times like now he just spout bullsh*it. And it was, in Kailani Quix's expert opinion, tops.
He leaned closer to her now, voice just low enough to make her lean down. Discarding the empty glass somewhere on the floor of his mostly immaculate quarters with a dull thud Kailani's eyes stayed on his, before flicking to the object in question.
Dangling there in the closet it was, fuzzy, sort of worn but in a comfortable looking way, she gave it a long knowing glance and a single nod. "You're a crafty one, Yevor. I'll give ya that."
"But, what you didn't know is that I've been huntin' you for sometime." She shifted some, twisting to lean over him, wild curls dangling across his smooth chest. "My parents were killed by your Order, ya see. I've sworn myself to revenge all these years, waitin' in that bar just to find you."
Kailani leaned closer now, close enough the clean sharp smell of his soap to fill her and feel the still lingering heat from his shower. She grinned "And now I've got ya right where I want ya."
In a flash of curled hair and spindly limbs she up, dashing for the closet to wrench the bathrobe from its hanger. She'd not be foiled now, this mission was much too important.

“Course I am,” Asyr said, grinning broadly. He let an air pride creep into his voice, with little difficulty. “Have t’be crafty in my line ‘a work. Can’t just go space wizardin’ around willy-nilly like some sun-blinded fool or I woulda been busted a long time ago.”
His smile broadened as Kailani revealed her true intent, that she’d been hunting him across space and stars through the years. Before he could say anything in response, she dashed away, leaping in a blonde-haired blur toward his bathrobe, still slightly damp where it hung inconspicuously in his closet.
Asyr jolted at the sudden movement, holding his whiskey out straight and steady, to keep any from spilling. His immediate thought was to chase after her and save his beloved “sacred” bathrobe, but she had a head start, and the room was too small for both of them.
Instead, he decided to play it up.
“Go on,” he said, chuckling comfortably from where he lay on the bed, “take it if you’re so brave, Miss Kai.” He leaned forward and made a show of slowly pouring another round of whiskey for himself as she no doubt had already ransacked his closet. “But, there’s somethin’ ya oughtta know, if ya have the ear to hear it.”
Glass poured, Asyr leaned back against his little corner. He raised the glass slightly in a subtle toasting motion to Kailani. “That robe there carries a terrible power, see,” he said, voice suddenly grave. “They say the last founder of the space wizard committed an awful sin wearin’ that thing, and it’s been the duty of one of us in every generation since to wear it, to keep it from fallin’ into the hands of the unknowin’.”
Mischief glinted in his silver-blue eyes, even has his voice barely wavered from its seriousness. He ran a hand through his snowy hair as he sighed. “I’d hate for you t’ have to shoulder the burden, Miss Kai. It’s not somethin’ that should be trifled with.”
