ThemeSparkling shin reflected in the vast spaces of water. Capricious tendrils of sunlight danced across the calm surface, evaporating tiny droplets of water that spread salty, humid smell in the air. The stench of fish oysters and various slimy organisms Sivan couldn't name. His golden streak nose wrinkled slightly as the young near-human passed one of the market stands in a giant coral city. One of the few solid land marks on the planet. The endless oceans and seas covered the place, making it almost inhabitable for mammals, but also a good hide out when a large bounty hung on your head. The young soldier stopped shortly from the dock's edge. Down below was only endless water ready to swallow careless tourists. Sivan looked down, his brown gaze fixing on a slowly drifting medusa. Where did you go? The target was near by, had to be. A part of him idly wished for some of the powers his father possessed, finding people would be this much easier. The near-human clicked his tongue and looked around. Nothing. Few market stands with alien customers loitering about. Like a stone in the water...Literally. With bored expression he fished out a datapad from a pocket of his worn, synthetic jacket and flicked it on with his calloused finger. The small hologram came to life – a human man in his late thirties. Average looking dock worker and rather plain persona, no one would say he had killed three people back on Coruscant. Sivan had a nice body count after years of service but that was just a regrettable duty. This one was a small time criminal and a killer, though taken alive if possible. That wasn't really Sivan's specialty, he was trained to take down an enemy from a safe distance, not to coddle them and feed for days until a Republic official appears. Sighing with frustration, he tucked way the holo and decided to grab a drink. Maybe that would help him think more clearly. Hopefully there were some bars that sold something more than sea weed ale, though Yu wasn't this sure. Tibrin didn't proud itself as a great spot for tourists. ”Just my luck.” The near-human muttered and turned away from the ocean. Some of the salty mist already began to gather on his snythskin pants and bantha leather shoes which coaxed an annoyed groan from his brownish lips. Taught by seven years of strict discipline, Sivan began to meticulously clean his precious clothes when a beastly racket forced his attention away from whitish stains. Huh... Something was happening around the corner he so recently passed. Narrowing his eyes. The near-human intuitively reached for his custom made blaster. Shouts in basic cut through the moist air, rising above normal Ishi-tib gurgling chatter. Maybe the Force was merciful for him today and the dull search was over. Maybe...

"LET GO OF ME!" Shanti shrieked, deliberately trying to shatter her captor's eardrums. "You can't do this!" The tall and roughened dockworker just laughed and gripped Shanti's arm tighter, twisting it painfully behind her back. The little redheaded human struggled fruitlessly in his grasp; jerking her shoulders, kicking behind her in an attempt to strike him in the crotch. She tried to get at the blaster and vibroknife hidden in her boots, but she couldn't reach that far. The ugly man was far stronger than she was, and held her in such a way that made both escape and retaliation impossible. She could feel his hot breath on neck. It was probably rank.
The man leaned over her shoulder and growled into her ear. She tilted her head as far to the side as she could, but she couldn't stop the shivers up her spine as he spoke. "You're not going anywhere until I get my money, girlie. You came aboard my ship. That means you owe me." Shanti flinched. She had been hoping that she had gotten away; that the captain hadn't seen her as she disembarked onto this water planet. She hadn't counted on the docks here being so small, or that there would be so few places to hide once she got off. There was the water that surrounded everything of course, but Shanti couldn't swim, so that was pretty much out of the question. But she had been quick and quiet leaving the cargo bay of the ship. But apparently the captain was smarter than he looked.
And now she was in massive trouble. She didn't have the money to pay for passage. If she did... well she still would have probably tried to avoid paying for it, but if she did have money, she wouldn't have come to Tibrin. She tried a different tactic on the man; she stopped struggling and tried to force tears to come to her eyes.
"Please sir, I... I'm sorry. I don't have any money. I was just... I was just trying to find my father..." Shanti's lip trembled and her green eyes were shiny with sorrow. The salt air was making her deception somewhat easier to pull off. "Please, he's a dockworker, and he's gone missing. Someone told me he's here and I just have to find him. I promise... he'll pay you back, I'll make sure of it. Please?" In all honesty, Shanti was only half lying. Sure, she wasn't looking for her father, and she actually had no intention of paying the man back, but she was broke and she was looking for a man.
She was looking for a target. It wasn't one she was specifically hired for, but she thought she could make a mint catching him anyway. Back on Coruscant, Shanti had been browsing the holonet, slicing into some of the more restricted networks when she came across someone looking for a human man. He was a murderer and a thief, but Shanti thought she could take him. Besides, she'd never been to a water planet before. The man was also just barely old enough to be her father; but since dock work aged people quickly, and Shanti looked younger than she was, it was a plausible enough way to go about searching for him.
She had packed light for the trip; just her normal dark synthleather pants and jacket. At one point in it's life those clothes had been black, but were now very worn and decidedly not black; something more of a dull dark grey with some brownish stains. The seams were fraying, and Shanti looked the part of a poor girl who was just looking for her father. But her appearance and her tears did not seem to move the captain.
"I don't care if your father is a Senator. I'm going to get payment from you, and I'm getting it now." He said, twisting Shanti's arm more. She could almost here the muscles in her arm tearing. She really was screwed. There was no way she was getting out of this on her own. "HELP!" She shouted, hoping that somebody sympathetic would come to her aid. "I'm being attacked! He's gonna do something bad! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!" She shrieked at the top of her lungs.
Who had thought bounty hunting would be so dangerous?

The noises came closer and Yu was fairly sure now he will need his blaster. The pleadings of a woman were not lost on him. The soldier could never ignore damsels in distress. It was something so deeply instilled in the near-human the reaction was a basic instinct. He gripped the handle of his gun, casually walking around the corner to see a large Devronian abusing short, red headed girl. The anger was instant and in a cold, rapid wave rushed through half-Firrerreo's veins.
In what looked like rather reckless gesture raised his blaster giving one shot that missed the male's cheek by an inch, even less. ”Alright big guy, you had your fun. Now let the girl go.” Sivan demanded in thick, Corellian accent, snarling to expose elongated fangs in a clear display of anger. The Devronian froze, his crimson skin turning slightly pinkish when all the blood left his features. He looked at the blaster that was now aimed straight at the horned head.
”Easy now, kid. I just want to get paid..” The man said slowly, still holding the young human in a tight embrace. ”She refuses to pay for a long trip!” Devronian explained. Yu's youthful features tensed, mostly at being called a child. He did look young, like a man out of his teens but was far from it. ”Let her go, I will pay whatever she owns.” The near-human's gaze flicked to the small human, whose shrieking screams ripped the air. Yu winced slightly, pondering briefly if she didn't deserve the treatment but no – he was a raised Corellian and it made him into an honorable being.
For a moment, the captain didn't seem to comprehend who just had occurred and gawked at the soldier wide eyed. ”You will pay for that skank?” He asked, absolutely baffled, before pushing the girl away. ”It's six hundred.” The Devronian cleared his throat before reaching his greedy paw toward the Corellian. The male was being put out as a shooting target and was cheeky enough to demand this price. Yu took couple hundred credits chits from his pocket, then threw the money at the alien.
”Get the hell out.” Sivan stated coldly before swaying his gun pointedly and the Devronian took a hint, scurrying away with his credits. I am an idiot... Yu sighed inwardly before holstering his gun in a manner that betrayed experience. It felt like something natural by now; sometimes the near-human couldn't tell which moment he had pulled the trigger. It just happened.
Slowly, he walked toward the red headed pretty face not entirely sure what to say. She did owe him a good piece of credit, then again, a single man with good pay didn't have much opportunity to spend all the paycheck. Especially if he cheated at cards. ”You alright?” Sivan asked, flustered with hands tucked ungracefully in front pockets of his jacket.. As a special operation man he didn't meet many nice looking women, his mixed heritage didn't help. Looking like an oddball was never desirable.

She heard the blaster fire, and all of the blood drained from Shanti's face. Apparently torture and imprisonment were not good enough for her. No, now she was going to die because some idiot shot her while trying to save her. Or something. The panicked girl let out another ear-piercing shriek, this time with real, unfeigned urgency. If she didn't lose her life, she was certainly going to lose her voice.
But Shanti wasn't the only one who was scared. The Devronian froze; although unfortunately it was in such a way that didn't allow any freedom from the Nar Shaddaa girl. Some how his hold on her had gotten even tighter. She stopped screaming long enough to open her eyes and see who was standing in front of them. Clearly it was the same person who fired off a blaster, since he was still pointing a blaster at her captor's face. Shoot him! Shanti thought furiously. And don't shoot me! Not that she thought he could hear her. He didn't look like one of those types.
The boy looked young; no older than her actual age and that was far from the only oddity. He sounded like a Corellian, but he didn't look like one. Shanti had not met a Corellian with golden skin and long canines before. Then again, her experience with the inhabitants of that planet were limited mostly to the pirates and smugglers that came through Nar Shaddaa; the only reason she could tell the accent was Corellian in the first place. Despite his youth and small size compared to the giant red alien behind, he didn't seem afraid; in fact he seemed rather calm and confident. Then again, he was the one who held the just-fired blaster. Anybody should be calm with those odds.
She tried to look as innocent as possible as the Devronian complained that she hadn't paid; she was afraid the jig was up. But then the boy did something she didn't expect; he paid the captain of the ship. She stared at him, as confused as the Devronian holding her. Why would he do such a thing? Surely not out of the goodness of his heart. Such a concept was completely foreign to a girl raised in the bowels of lawlessness and greed. Shanti couldn't comprehend anyone doing anything for any other reason than personal gain.
But she didn't have time to think on it; chits went flying; Shanti found herself suddenly tossed aside like a useless piece of trash, and the Devronian was gone before she had a chance to get her bearings straight. For something so big and ugly, he moved surprisingly fast. Her hand drifted down to her boot, and she cursed under her breath as she fumbled for her blaster. A boot was a stupid place to put such a thing, she had to admit to herself, but she had been trying to be discreet. Because that worked oh so well. She finally managed to wrangle it out of her boot, and stood up, hoping to get a shot off at the Devron. But he was gone.
Shanti snorted in frustration, lowering her blaster and pushing back stray strands of red hair with her free hand. She looked back at her golden-skinned savior, her green eyes entirely devoid of the helplessness that had been there before. "Look you jumped-up Corellian dirtfarmer, I appreciate the help, but if you think for one second that paying gives you any rights to me, I'll shoot your balls off, you perverted space ape." Her voice was harsh and raspy from screaming so much and she glared at the boy in synthleathers. Although now that she was really looking at him, there was something that didn't quite seem so much like a boy. Still, he couldn't be very old. A very strange person, but not one she intended to waste any more time on. She had a man to find and a bounty to collect.

Oh shut up already... Crossed Yu's mind briefly as he glanced at the infuriating banshee. How come someone so small could produce such terrible noise. The soldier sighed inwardly, looking after the captain who scrammed away like a scared bantha. Only then he noticed the girl was feverishly trying to fish out from her shoe. Sivan's brows went up in a mixture of surprise and amusement. ”And what are you trying to find there?” He asked slowly, trying to figure out what the...Then he saw a small blaster. The man's muscles tensed but he didn't raise his weapon, seeing the young human was looking for the departed captain.
Amused chuckle left his lips and Yu shook his head. The girl looked inexperienced at best, especially when he saw how she handled the blaster. Not someone who knew what they were doing, though not completely clueless either. The harshness in her green gaze didn't fit her rather soft features that caught immediate attention. ”Blasters this size don't really fit shoes...” The half Firrerreo smiled carefully and reached to his own boot, swiftly digging out a tiny pistol that barely looked like a proper weapon. ”Now, this would work a lot better, don't you think?” He said, not really trying to mock the woman's skills as much as to ease her fear and anger with some lighthearted joke.
The girl looked at him with the much different demeanor one – an arrogant and cheeky rather then helpless. Maybe the Devronian was right and she was indeed nothing but pretty troubles. At least the woman didn't want to shoot him and his posture eased a bit even if the girl let out an indignant snort. It was her words that made Sivan freeze in shocked stupor.
A what? Dark frown formed between his dark eyebrows. Was she serious? The near-human brought two fingers up his face and rubbed the forehead, feeling tension of anger building up. His gaze drifted toward the fiery red head who apparently didn't know what gratitude was. ”Thank you for saving my life. You welcome.” The part Firrerreo snorted indifferently before crossing arms on his chest. ”First of all, I am not a farmer although sometimes wished I was.” The soldier started, his expression stern and unkind, sharp features of his Firrerreo ancestors highlighted by marring wince of anger. There was something that wlays got to him when his Corellian heritage was being abused, even more so then noticing the non human part of it. ”Secondly, I had no idea shooting at Devronians had anything sexual to it. Is this where you get your kicks from?” He asked with a smirk, the implication he wanted something physical in return for this help was abhorring, why would anyone think of that? Yu wasn't a person that got easily angry but calling people names after a good deed.
”Beside, if I counted on getting something from you, I would certainly ask for refund.” Yu finished with a shrug. She was very pretty but that didn't make up for pretty nasty attitude and suddenly all the fluster was gone from Sivan's attitude toward her. Like a blown out candle.

Shanti raised an eyebrow, a confused expression on her face. What did this golden-skinned boy want anyway? Nobody ever did anything for anyone without expecting payment, so what did he pay for her fare for? Shanti hoped that she wasn't going to have to pay him back. The bounty would cover it, but she didn't want to waste her credits for a ride in some cargo hold. And she certainly wasn't going to be paying some little boy for it. Not even a little boy who knew hold to hold a gun. She looked at the tiny blaster he had pulled out of his own boot. "Nice gun." She snitted. "Did your mommy give you that?"
It was an unfair jibe, and she knew it; she just didn't care all that much. After all, she wasn't the only one doing the insulting. He would've asked for a refund? His loss, she supposed, but it was an insult and the fire-haired girl was not fond of just letting things go without a rejoinder. She did need to set the record straight with him though. Even if she wanted to 'give him a refund', she couldn't afford it. As it happened, she didn't want to give him one anyway. She holstered her own blaster into her belt this time; better to be able to get at it quickly than to get into another situation like she was just in.
"Look, I don't know who or what you are, Corellian, and frankly, I could care less. Why did you pay him instead of just shooting him? Would have made me happy, and saved you six hundred credits. He overcharged you, by the way." She said offhand. She looked at the boy, at his dark hair and golden skin, and very youthful features. She remembered when he was snarling at the Devronian, and the long canines he had. With his mouth closed, she couldn't see them, but it did serve to make the shape of his mouth seem not-quite human, though his skin was enough to indicate that. She thought she'd seen something similar on Nar Shaddaa, but she couldn't remember what his people were called. Not one of the usual Corellian races, she thought. A freak then.
Not a bad looking freak, she had to admit.
"You do realize I can't pay you right? I don't know what you want from me, but whatever it is, I probably don't have time for it. I'm here to find somebody, and you're not it. The longer you stand here, the further away he's probably going to get." She said rudely, and strode past the boy on the docks, without so much as even an 'excuse me'. The bounty wasn't going to catch himself. Somebody else might catch him though, and that didn't make Shanti happy. Sure, she could still 'liberate' the target for herself, but that generally made things more complicated.
As she walked away though, something was nagging at her. The comment he made - about kinks and her apparent worth - it bothered her more than she wanted to admit. She just couldn't let things stand like that. She turned around, and continued to walk backwards, a smirk on her face. "Oh, and dirt-farmer? Believe me, I could make a little boy like you beg to pay double." With a flounce of her long, wavy locks, Shanti turned back to her search.

The golden skinned near human looked at his gun, then back to the red headed girl whose attitude grew even more sour. This what one gets for trying to be nice around those parts of the Galaxy. His father would often tell him how naïve he was but Yu would scoff at this ridiculous accusation. Now the half-Firrerreo started to doubt. ”Maybe I killed her with it, so don't go run your mouth recklessly.” Yu frowned, his expression darkened visibly. He dislikes his mother, their strained relationship was based on anger and mutual rejection – the girl had no idea what she was stepping into with that little comment. Sivan put back the gun, pulling his pantleg back in its place. The small blaster disappeared as quickly as it showed up.
It was a shame the girl lost so much attractiveness only because she was such a mean mynock. Prickly and ungrateful little devil. It wasn't really that he had lost six hundred credits, between what his father gave him and military paycheck Yu could afford it but assuming his ulterior motives were perverted was just low. Sivan wanted to be a good man, he had served Republic faithfully, risking his life to the common citizens could sleep soundly and what did get in return – a snotty child. And pretty sick one at top of that.
”Because I don't kill people when I don't have to; thankfully you are so piss poor with blasters, you won't either.” Yu snorted, now intentionally making fun of how terribly unskilled the girl was with ranged weapons, at least comparing to him. The near-human took pride in his skills, the only thing in life he was good at. Aside from drinking and cheating at cards. ”That I am Corellian should be enough for you, you little racist b*tch.”” He snapped back, not taking well the 'what' part of her comment. Yu didn't feel well about pointing out his heritage, it was a troubling matter and marked him out among other Corellians. Of course it was what the human wanted in the first place – some kind of reaction and the soldier wasn't particularly happy to give her one.
”Like I really counted on you having two credits to spare.”The girl strode pass him, the near human didn't even budge, letting his shoulder hit her along the way. Sour expression still lingered on his features, breaking into barking, unpleasant laugh when the girl turned back to throw in the bold statement about her apparent prowess. ” Are you a hooker then? No wonder you have no money.” Yu called out after her cheekily, snorting with anger.
That little, ungrateful shank!
Whatever, he had a bounty to catch. With unpleasant aftertaste from this meeting, the near-human soldier went the other way to find the fugitive who was hiding in one of the bars. Now, maybe the girl hadn't appreciated his deed but karma certainly did. The man leaned against the counter, drinking beer. The little establishment reeked of fish but a murderer didn't seem to mind it. Sivan did, wrinkling his nose in distaste. Slowly, placing his hand on the handle of his blaster, Yu placed the free palm at the back of the man's shoulder. "Shelon Davrik?" He asked calmly, confident he knew enough of CQC to take the simple fugitive on.

Shanti continued to stalk off, away from the golden-skinned boy, her ears burning. It wasn't the first time she'd been insulted, and it probably wouldn't be the last. She still didn't like it. Shanti knew better than to shoot somebody for an insult, as much as she would have liked to. There was the fact that he seemed to know a lot more about blasters than she did, but considering he missed the Devronian, the girl wondered how much of that was just the boastings of a teenager. That happened to be something she knew all too well.
She really tried to put the encounter from her mind. Such trivial matters did nothing to help her find her target. Only problem was, she had no idea where to start. She started by asking around on the docks; Ishi Tib, Humans, Near-humans, whatever other aliens were visiting or doing some trading on this watery planet. She would pull out her data pad, show them the holo she'd gotten of the man, and invariably be turned down. It got very frustrating very quickly; this planet didn't have that many places to be, and there weren't that many humans walking around. Why was this so difficult?
She sighed and pulled aside yet another Ishi Tib, not really expecting to learn anything new. She grabbed him by the collar and practically shoved the datapad into the creatures eyestalks. "Have you seen this man?"
The Ishi Tib started to gabble in Tibranese, which made the redhead roll her green eyes. Of course they wouldn't be able to understand each other. But the creature was also gesturing furiously, a move that Shanti almost missed, mostly because she couldn't tell if it was purposeful or just scared flailing. Her eyes drifted in the direction of his gesturing, and it was only then that she realized he was pointing to a bar. Was it possible this frog had seen her target? She looked back at the squealing Tibran native. Their language had to be one of the most obnoxious in the galaxy.
"Thanks a million!" Shanti said as she let go of the collar and shoved the poor mewling creature. On short legs, she sauntered over to the cantina. This could be her lucky day.
Or not.
As she walked inside, three things caught her eye. The Corellian who paid for her passage, the blaster in his hand, and her target sitting on a stool in front of him. The Corellian had the blaster pointed at the human male. It was definitely her target. Human, aged, brown hair, average features. What was the Corellian doing with him? All of a sudden it dawned on her. He was another bounty hunter, like her. They were after the same target. And after their last encounter, she doubted he was willing to share.
Shanti supposed she could just let him have the bounty. After all, she owed him six hundred credits, technically speaking. It would be the right thing to do. But she didn't come all the way to this awful planet just for the sights. Besides, she didn't really care much if the boy ever got repaid. No, she wanted this bounty, one way or another.
"You!" She shouted, startling several other people at the bar. "What are you doing with my father?" She saw her target turn around to face her; the sheer surprise on it wasn't exactly comforting. She just hoped that he had the good sense to keep his mouth shut, or that Golden Boy didn't notice.

”Get your hands off me, mutt!” The man spat, pushing off Yu's palm in a manner that suggested aggressive superiority. The soldier's eyes narrowed at the man's words. He took back his hand, rising the blaster but before the bounty could even notice this movement, a girl's voice broke through the cantina's murmurs. Startles patrons looked at the tiny cause of this commotion, including the target and Yu. It was her...The near-human's expression darkened with a flush of anger.
”Wha...” Quickly, the soldier put his hand behind the human's head and slammed it on the counter, ridding him unconscious. Glass clanked, few beers spilled on the floor in a storm of broken shards. People around gasped, freezing in place. Whispers in gurgling language rose higher when the bounty fell on the floor with loud thud. Trail of blood was left on the metallic counter, but the man was alive. Hopefully.
Most of the patrons began to hastily leave the bar, crowding at the narrow doors, making strange, fish noises. The bartender evaporated, probably calling law enforcers now – they didn't have much time left. ”I don't know what are you getting at here, but this man has no children.” Yu snickered, raising his gun. She was out of luck this time around as the half Firrerreo did his homework and asked couple of intelligence friends to do the extensive research.
There was only one explanation left, she was a bounty hunter or an assassin, very inexperienced and too young. Humans didn't age like Firrerreo, if one of them looked young – they most likely were. She couldn't be more than twenty, though Sivan had to admit, the girl was ballsy and cheeky to go after a bounty like that. The soldier didn't want to kill the young woman, not by far but no way he would give up on that bounty, maybe if Yu hadn't paid for her six hundred credits only to get back snotty insults, he would consider sharing, But now.
No chance.
Quickly, he pointed the blaster a bit up, shooting at a large, coral decoration that hanged above them. One, precise shot was enough to bring the rather harmless thing down, hopefully that would catch the girl off guard. ”Hands off my bounty slum princess.” Yu snipped, flashing his long canines in a mischievous smile. He was a soldier and believed himself honorable but the young woman was nothing but mean. Sivan just hated ungratefulness.

Well that didn't go quite as planned. She had hoped that he would have bought it. Instead he was point a blaster in her direction. Shanti had just about had it with blasters pointed in her direction. The trigger was pulled and she ducked, wincing as the sound of crashing coral echoed around her. A confused look came over her face as she straightened up; why didn't the boy shoot her? He didn't shoot the Devronian and he didn't shoot her. She was starting to wonder if he was actually as good a shot as he said he was.
"Next time, aim lower." Shanti scolded as she picked pieces of coral out of her rapidly tangling hair. Shanti could spend hours futzing with her mane but always, within about half an hour, it became a snarled mess, so she mostly stopped trying. It really didn't help when somebody decided to blast something to smithereens over her head. As she ran her fingers through her hair, she thought about how she was going to play this. Clearly he was another bounty hunter, and now the target was unconscious. That actually worked to her advantage, as nothing she said could be contradicted by the target.
So she would play the daughter card a little longer. On her voyage over she had a whole story planned out just in case somebody asked, or the bounty decided not to play along. It was good to know such a harrowing tale would not be going to waste. "And he does so have at least one child, Goldy, but not even he knows it." Shanti looked down at the middle-aged man, and tried to force tears out of her eyes. It wasn't that difficult; not because she was sad, but because the man was rank and the smell made her eyes water. She looked back at the dark-haired boy, trying to look as pathetic as possible. "My mother... my mother was a.... a... prostitute..." She said quietly, as if she was embarrassed by the fact. "She did the best she could raising me, but... it was hard.. raising me alone... we never had much. She alway remembered him fondly though, until... until... she died..." Carefully, just enough to really try and gain the boy's sympathy but not enough to make her face get all red and blotchy, she let a few tears roll down her cheeks. "I was left with nothing... so... so I thought... I thought I would try and find my dad. Do you know how difficult that was, for a girl with no credits? All of the genetic scans to find a match, all of the things I had to do to get a lead on his location? There are men... such awful men who want nothing more than to take advantage of an innocent girl... and I... I had no choice but to submit.... And now... just when I found him..." Shanti's voice rose to a nearly hysterical pitch. "You've killed him! I finally found my father and you've killed him right in front of me!"
She closed her eyes, and covered her face with her hands, as if it was all too painful for her. Shanti's shoulders shuddered and she made gentle sobbing sounds; a performance worthy of a holovid performer. She just hoped it would be convincing enough for the bounty hunter. It was an awful thing; calling her own mother a sleeper and equating her father with this filthy piece of scum, but they were far away on Nar Shaddaa and probably hadn't even realized that Shanti had left the Smuggler's Moon.

A small, devilish smirk formed on his sun streaked lips. Hopefully this would teach her. Parts of the dried coral embedded themselves in the girl's hair, giving impression of what 'prickly' could be in person. Yu casually holstered the blaster, knowing he would reach easily get it back if the young human tried something. Damn that girl. The soldier rolled his eyes seeing the little red head had only a snarky comment. She didn't show any fear and rarely anyone did when a blaster was aimed at them. Was the girl brave or just stupid? Or hid emotions well? Not many of his fellow soldiers could remain calm when such thing happened and the young woman just shrugged it off and responded with a remark that could get her killed if he was any less of a honorable Corellian. You just didn't shoot women...
”But that would leave an extra hole in you, ruining of whatever slum charm you have left. “ Yu snorted back. Couple of Ishi Tib gawked at them with interest rather than fear. Strangely enough no law enforcement was on its way, at least not now. This was a peaceful planet but maybe Docks were just governed by their own laws. He was about to drag the unconscious man toward his ship that waited couple hundred meters away when the fiery girl began to whine pathetically. Yu's brow quirked and for a moment, for a brief moment had had considered letting go.
The soldier had a very soft heart when it came to crying women and for a heartbeat he felt really, really bad. His features shaped into rather pitiful expression as the girl talked about her plight. Then he looked at the target who was ugly, tall and dark skinned then back to the girl whose skin was alabaster pale and hair auburn. Yeah right... Yu shook his head and reached for a small, seaweed napkin and when the girl's voice reached annoyingly high pitch he knew this was a smelling pile of lies. ”I didn't kill him.” Yu explained with the sigh and watched around the bar to find the same few Ishi Tib sipping their drinks and watching tourists fighting.
”I doubt your story will move their hearts, they are egg layers that don't have parents.” He added with a patronizing smile, assuming the girl told this story to get some help from the locals, since she had to know even if it was her father, the target was still a murderer that should be brought in. Yu spared a glance at the human's crimson flushed face and smirked. ”You're lucky, red suits so few.” The near-human smirked.
Slurp.Slurp.Slurp. Sivan looked for the source of the disturbance and found of the Ishi Tib sipping a fizzy drink. It looked like watching the best holo vid ever. ”Ok, show is over.” He said, leaning to grab the man by his wrists. ”If you want you can tag along, prostitute daughter. But I have witnesses the bounty is mine.” He nodded at the Ishi Tib that was finishing its glass with loud srrrrrrlrrrrrrrrrp.”Unless you want to earn your part and drag him back to my ship.” Yu winked, deciding the girl was infuriating but also admirably fiery and interesting. He was willing to give her a percent from this bounty if only she proved willing to cooperate. Of course a safe bet was the woman wouldn't agree to the fact Yu had won this one, that would be shame though...

Shanti wrinkled her nose in disgust. Help carry that load of stinking flesh? But she was still pretending to be the daughter. She wasn't entirely sure if he bought her story, but he didn't argue with her that much. Maybe he bought it? She sniffed while she tried to figure out what to do next. Playing dumb seemed the safest choice. If he thought she wasn't actually after the bounty, then she'd have an easier time of it.
She almost laughed though when he dragged the froggy-fish people into the scenario. She wasn't performing for their benefit, and she certainly wasn't going to count on them for backup. Once they got back into Core space, whoever caught him first was moot. The winner would be whoever managed to get him off of the ship and into paying hands. Normally Shanti would have snuck onto the ship, and spent the time hiding from the bounty hunter she was stealing from. But this bounty hunter had actually offered her a ride back, and knew who she was. Sneaking around was going to be harder. She'd have to play nice.
Shanti could play nice when she wanted to. And if she really had to, she could play very nice.
Nice and dumb. She took a huge, shuddery breath, as if she was trying to get a hold of herself."Bounty?" She asked. "Is this... is this because of..." Her eyes shifted from side to side and her voice dropped down to a whisper. "of the murder!?" The corners of her mouth turned down and Shanti bowed her head. "I had heard about that. It's why I had to find him.... I... I will help you though. Murderers like him should not be allowed to roam free." A rather silly statement, considering how earlier she had been advocating for the death of the Devronian and her own, but really, this man's crimes had been particularly heinous. She'd have to be careful with this act however, she had already slipped too many times.
Shanti walked over to the the unconscious man and picked him up by the ankles, straining quite a lot. The smell was even more pungent, and Shanti was very thankful for a strong stomach. He wasn't exactly a small man, and she was definitely not a large girl. Golden Boy was definitely going to have to do most of the heavy lifting; something she didn't mind in the least. "If I take him back to your ship, you'll take me home with you, right Goldy? I mean... this planet is a nice place to visit and all, but I did only come here to find him" She nodded her head towards the man who's forehead was still dripping blood. "And I don't particularly want to be stuck here."

The soldier's eyes narrowed as he watched the girl and the way her nose wrinkled in disgust. A daughter, yeah, sure. Yu had increasing suspicion the girl was just dumb, dumb like a Rilan boar if for a second she believed to fool him. The sappy story could maybe work from whatever idiots lived on her homeworld, and that was a big maybe. It did anger him the human had him for such buffoon and a thought of just leaving her without money and transport occurred to him.
”Really?” Yu asked with one brow raised questioningly. ”Drop the act, you are not this much of an idiot. “ He snorted, looking over the girl. She tried to play someone entirely different now, helpless and naïve lamb. Yu had seen her trading wits like someone with keen, if brash and young mind. The girl should really learn how to be consistent with her lies. Not that Yu was morally clean and proper when it came to being truthful...
”Now grab his ankles.” The near-human demanded and to his mild surprise, the girl agreed. Reek of unwashed body was terrible and Yu had to hold his breath most of a time, even though hardships of soldier life made him more used to various vile odors. ”I can get you to the station where I can drop the bounty.” Yu explained, struggling to steer the unconscious body toward the doors. He was aware the girl would try to con him more likely and maybe it was a part of the reason the near-human let her to tag along. For some time his life simply had been boring.
”Goldy? This is something new.” Sivan smirked at his new pet name that would certainly morph soon into some creative insults once the girl would put together he didn't want to play along with her 'strumpet daughter' story. ”What's your name?Or should I call you hooker's daughter?” He smirked, feeling droplets of sweat trickling down his cheeks. Those couple hundred meters felt as twice longer distance.
They reached the ship finally and Yu dropped the unconscious body. The man shouldn't be awake for one more hour but to make sure the near-human took small amount of sedative and injected it slowly into the man's neck. That should keep him asleep till they reached the station. Suddenly the ship's hatch opened and two humans appeared. ”What did you find there Yu? Is she an extra bounty?” A tall, fair haired pilot laughed out, looking at the girl. The near-human looked up, waving to the two men.
”I didn't really ask for her but she helped me carry the load so deserves one percent.” Yu smirked and pointed at the blond human. ”Bijon and Gal.” The other man was short, round and brooding. He didn't say a word and probably wouldn't for the rest of the trip. ”I am Sivan.” The near-human smirked, knowing fully well it would be much harder for her to fool three people instead of one.

The human was heavy, and Shanti struggled trying to help Goldy carry him. The trek was made even more unpleasant by the realization that no; this strange boy did not in fact buy her story at all. It was frustrating that he didn't believe her. Something she would have to work on. Surely this wouldn't be the last time she would need to lie through her teeth to get what she wanted. It definitely wasn't the first. Maybe it was just him; as distrusting as she was. But then why did he pay for her in the first place? A question for the ages she supposed. At least it meant she didn't have to keep up the pretense any longer.
Things that didn't make sense. Shanti didn't like things that didn't make any sense.
"You don't believe he's my father, clearly. Why do you believe my mother is a harlot? My mother, and my father too, are both fine, upstanding, and completely clueless individuals. They called me Shanti." She said, by way of conversation on the trek back to the boy's ship. Her voice was strained, and there were many pauses as she fought for breath. It was not a long trip, but considerably slowed by the bulk of the bounty. Sedated yes, but still alive, still breathing. That was good. It was always easier to steal a bounty when the target could move. Not that she knew how she was going to steal it; at least, not yet. Getting to the ship would help, certainly. She could figure things out from there. Schematics, layouts, techs, droids...
...Other people on board.
She almost dropped the bounty where she stood when she saw the very tall and very short men pop out of the ship. That was definitely going to make things harder for her. Not impossible, not if she was resourceful, but definitely challenging. Shanti did drop their bounty when the boy mentioned her getting one percent. "Only one percent? Please. I helped out way more than that, Goldy." Though she was going to be hard-pressed to give specifics. "Can I get a little help from these gentlemen?" She asked Sivan, nodding her head towards the two men. It was the short one who came over to grab the legs that she had so carelessly dropped. The tall blonde one came over to take over Sivan; a name she decided she was never going to call him if she could help it. He was Golden Boy.
She looked over the ship that the boy had acquired while the two new men dealt with the prisoner. Republic make, unless she missed her guess. Not that she was any sort of an expert on ships, but having dockworkers for parents meant that the redhead had picked a few things up. "A hunk of junk, but not bad for a youngling, Goldy." She grinned wryly. "Got a room and a shower for guests?" She certainly wasn't going to ask for a tour; for one it would probably raise suspicions. For another, it was completely unnecessary. As long as she could slice into the system, she'd be fine. If she couldn't; well, she was mostly frelled anyway.

At least the girl was strong...Yu was impressed by how much Shanti could carry with such slim frame of hers. The red haired woman didn't look like a twig but neither betrayed the resilience she could muster. Sivan's gaze found the human's features and vivid blue eyes – he smiled. Finally, a name, maybe even a true one. ”That is a nice name, Shanti.” The soldier said, catching a movement in one of the dark alleys. Briefly a pair of inner membranes covered his eyes, giving ability to see in ultraviolet spectrum and the dark alley came to life, a single life form dwelt there. It was hovering on small wings that flapped regularly.
A Toydarian...Hm...For now Yu decided to let it go but a pang of worry crept under a surface of his thoughts. Too many aliens for an Ishi Tib world. Sivan shook his head, letting the membranes to retract, the whole UV vision gave him headache and already stings of it prodded his forehead but it was an advantage the near-human refused to pass on. ”You helped how exactly? By trying to steal my bounty?” He asked sarcastically to which the blond pilot snorted.
”Goldy...” The human man added which earned him a glare from Sivan. ”Shut up.” Yu snarled, showing sharp tips of his canines. He wasn't someone that got angry fast, many would call him overly patient but there were things that just got to him. He was a Corellian, first and foremost though what most humans saw first was his unusual heritage which just wasn't right. The fat one waved at him indignantly and reentered the ship not too eager to help in any capacity.
”I guess not...” The young near-human smirked. It was clear that the girl's words didn't sit well with the blonde owner who smiled in a very unpleasant manner to the red head. Sivan was now fairly sure Shanti's question would be met with impolite rejection, though an image of her taking a shower wasn't this bad. Very nice even...Unfortunately the nice fantasy was abruptly broke by a large blaster rifle pointed at him – he round co -pilot showed again, this time grumpy expression was paired with vicious looking weapon.
Sivan's eyes widened and for a moment he thought it was some bad joke but when the blonde bared his own blaster Yu knew they had betrayed. ”Guys...what the...Come on.” The young soldier sighed, shaking his head. By the Force he was stupid one: never trust deserters...Even if you had fought alongside years ago. ”Sorry kid, you know how it is.” The blonde guy said apologetically and the near-human almost believed him...almost.
When flapping of wings could be heard behind them, Yu didn't even have to turn around.”A friend of yours...” The Toydarian let out a choking laugh, from where he was standing Yu could hear a soft hum of a blaster battery. His eyes traveled to the ginger haired girl.
”I guess that's the end of this date.”

Shanti thought that the men were coming to help take the body off of her hands. She didn't expect to have a blaster pointed at her face. Luckily underneath that mane of red hair was a sharp mind, and right now it was all she had to use to her advantage.
"Hey... hey guys... wait. I totally understand what's going on here. I mean; working under Goldy here can't be easy. I would mutiny too. Look; all I need is a ride back to the Core Worlds. I'm not gonna try and take the man, or do anything stupid... just give me a ride? You don't have to kill me." She grinned, but it was strained, very aware of how near death she was at this point. Shanti was not a loyal person to begin with, and even less so with somebody she just met. She felt a little bad for Sivan, but not enough to actually do anything about it when her own hide was on the line.
"Yeah... I don't think so sweetheart." The Toydarian said. Clearly he was the leader of the trio. Shanti sighed. She had tried. Now she had to find a different way out of this. Three against one weren't fair odds, but she thought she could work with three against two. She turned towards the Corellian bounty hunter.
"Sorry about that. Had to try." Shanti shrugged nonchalantly. "You understand of course. Now... let's try and live shall we? Date doesn't have to end this early." While she was whispering to Sivan, the other three were talking about what to do with the them. They couldn't seem to agree on whether to shoot them dead or sell them into slavery. That gave Shanti a little more time to whisper a plan of action.
"Look.. we've still got the sleeper here right? I know they wanted him alive, but dead will still get us paid. I say we use him as a shield and attack..." She whispered; her hand reached down to her boot to pull out her vibroknife. It was this movement that caused the others to notice her.
"HEY!" The Toydarian shouted. The tall blonde and the short one lifted their pistols in a startled reaction, but it was Shanti who acted first. Withdrawing her knife quickly, she shanked the flying alien in one swift move. Her aim was slightly off; she didn't manage to kill him, just slice him across the wing and shoulder. Still, it was enough to make the flying pest go down. Blaster fire rang out, and Shanti winced. She hoped that Goldy was fast enough to get the human shield up, otherwise they'd both be dust.

Despite himself or the predicament's gravity Sivan laughed out hearing the girl's cowardly proposal. Of course she would do that, the young woman had no sense of morality nor honor. Shanti was one of those slum children born to drug addicts and wh*res. In a way Yu couldn't blame her for being what she was – selfish, self-centered and disloyal. As expected, the men didn't buy the story, for them killing a girl didn't really matter in the long run. He rolled his eyes, wondering how young Shanti was to believe that doubtful ruse would work.
”Just shoot her already.” Sivan commented with a smirk, hoping she would get what was coming to her and this time he had no intention to help Shanti. Even when the young girl leaned closer to whisper an awkward apology to which Yu snorted softly. Though two of them had a better chance than fighting separately, counting for Yu's former crew to shoot the other one.
When they began to discuss a possible slavery Sivan's expression darkened. He would accept death but not being sold off as a golden skinned toy to some perverted Hutt. Or a worker to a Force forsaken spice mine. But that plan...What? Before he could protest the girl acted, pulling out a knife. The flying alien noticed the move and shouted out, there was no time to lose. ”Idiot!” The near-human spat, pulling his blaster out. He fired two quick rounds, one hit the blonde straight in his forehead burning a large hole in it. The man died before hitting the ground.
The second one hot the mark, but the fat co pilot's armor stopped majority of damage to his arm. Sivan dodged, expecting swift retribution and he wasn't wrong. Few violent bursts exploded near him, immediately killing the bounty. Yu shoot again killing the other soldier though screeching of a a furious Toydarian threw his focus off enough to miss the target's head. Chest was still good enough mark...
The whole shooting happened in less than two heartbeats. The man made a mistake of underestimating a spec ops sniper but that was a perk of his young looks. Not many people took him seriously. Their loss...As Sivan turned his blaster toward the Toydarian something appeared at the corner of his vision. Many...Many flying aliens making their way toward them. Yu's brown eyes widened as juicy Corellian cuss left his lips. ”Run! He brought friends.” Sivan shouted out, almost falling over the dead bounty.
Damn Toydarians...always dragging along the family. I should've known. The young near human complained silently before turning to sprint away from the docks, one last time discharging the blaster to kill the alien Shanti tried so desperately to fight off though the sneaky little witch didn't deserve the help from him. Still...Leaving her fate to a bunch of angry Toydarians just wasn't something that sit well with Yu who had been raised to treat women with utmost respect. Even slum girls.

So much for a plan. Clearly Goldy did not agree with her idea. Then again, straight up killing the traitors was an effective method. He was a damned good shot, she noted. The target got killed in the process, but at this point she cared more about surviving this encounter than she did about collecting money. Mostly.
With both of the traitors dead, and the Toydarian injured, Shanti took the opportunity to rummage through the target's pockets; mostly to get some form of ID. Failing that, taking his credits would help her get off planet. She didn't even flinch as her she pulled out everything she could, her ears closed to the sound of buzzing wings.
More Toydarians. Damn those winged little bats.
Her response to the Corellian's shout was immediate; with her hands full of the bounty's belongings, Shanti took off sprinting. She was a tangled mess; her red hair whipping behind her, her hands frantically stuffing objects into various pockets while trying to keep a hold of her knife and pull out her blaster. She didn't really see where she was going, she merely followed the sound of the boy's thumping feet. Once she got herself sorted out, she finally looked at her surroundings as they continued to run from the pack of flying aliens.
"Where are we going?" She shouted at the golden skinned boy. "Why are we running away from the ship?" She could hear the Toydarians getting closer. Still running as fast as she could, she twisted slightly so she could shoot off a few rounds at the oncoming Toydarians, judging by the screams, she at least got a few hits, but whether or not any of them were effective was a different matter entirely.
The docks were poorly laid out, twisting and turning, and all around them were hazardous drops that lead to the murky waters of Tibran. Sivan and Shanti ran around other ships, trying to lose the Toydarians, but it was difficult to lose creatures that could fly above things. Shanti saw the Corellian round another corner and she followed. Only the human girl took the corner to tightly, and she lost her footing; falling off the dock between it and a docked spaceship.
Shanti screamed as she hit the cold water, and started to flail about; mostly uselessly, trying to find something to grab onto. First the ship, but it's smooth sides offered no handholds, and then the dock; but the smooth supports were to slippery, and too wide for her hold around.
"GOLDY!" She cried, as she splashed madly. She hoped he would help; if he didn't she was screwed. For Shanti was a true Nar Shaddaa girl. The redhead couldn't swim.

There was sharp, biting comment about looting that almost left his lips but Sivan held it back between gritted teeth. ”I think you missed one pocket.” He just drawled, before a bunch of Toydarians showed up. Even when alone on the battlefield with only bodies of his enemies Yu never thought about robbing their bodies. There was something repulsive in that act. The girl clearly lacked any basic form of morale. Probably she came from deep slums of some Force forsaken world. But it was no time for arguing higher standards. Thankfully as they had to leave, quickly.
Yu darted away, his eyes only briefly rested on Shanti who still had to tuck away the looted belonging. The near-human didn’t have time to snort in disgust when the winged creatures began to fire at them. He ducked, barely missing a shot aimed at his head and retaliated, taking down one of the attackers. Sadly, only one as there were at least fifteen left. Crap. Sivan changed used clip, his mind working feverishly on the way out. The alleys twisted like a coral labyrinth.
”We can find the ship later.” Yu breathed, looking at the girl who had no troubles with catching up. He had to admit, the girl had some stamina which was admirable all things considered. She still looked pretty young and untrained. ”I...” The soldier started when loud splash swallowed the rest of the sentence. Followed by a shrieking plead for help. The half Firrerro stopped and immediately turned to see Shanti flailing helplessly. The Toydarians were behind them, already echo of their blasters reached his ears. ”Sucks to be you.” The near-human said and resumed his sprint. The girl wanted to steal his bounty and then sell him off to his ex dead buddies. Plus owed him six hundred credits...
But something forced his feet to go back and jump into cold, salty water. He wasn’t trained to be a soldier only to let Shanti die, no matter her crimes. Leaving young girl to death just didn’t fit his view of the world. Once chilling surface closed above him, Sivan’s additional membranes covered brown eyes for protection. He looked around in darkness, UV vision picking up a floating shape of helpless girl. His hands closed over Shanti’s frame and pulled her upward toward fresh air.
After a moment of struggle the near-human found lone set of stairs that led upward toward the docks. Apparently the Toydarians missed them, assuming they vanished in one of many twisting alleys. All in all, Shanti had the right idea even if accidental. Sivan gingerly placed the girl on the cold, wet surface and pulled damp hair off his eyes.

Shanti scrabbled, but her fingers found no purchase and she found herself slipping under the surface. The cold water enveloped her, and her red hair spread out, tendril-like, giving her the appearance of some mythical creature. Only for Shanti, she could not breathe underwater. The world around her was going black.
The next thng she knew, she was gasping for breath, and her eyes opened to see Golden Boy dripping wet and standing over her. He must have pulled her back on solid ground. Shanti coughed, puking up seawater as she did so, her face turning the color of her hair. She was embarrassed that she had to have been saved by him yet again. After spitting out yet more water, she looked up into his strange brown eyes. He wasn't pulling on her, or trying to drag her away, so something must have happened to the Toydarians that were chasing them. Or they were already captured, and he was resigned to death. But then, if that was the case, then they were probably already dead.
Realizing this was the second time they boy saved her life made the Nar Shaddaa girl feel very cowed. She owed him, she couldn't deny that now. It was frustrating to the the extreme; she wasn't used to owing anybody for anything, and surprisingly enough, she found that she actually cared. Maybe it was because unlike everyone else she ever met, he hadn't expected anything in return, at least not so far. Shanti wasn't quite sure how to deal with that. Bargaining, business, and deals; those she knew how to work with. Sivan was a complete mystery.
"Thanks."She said hoarsely, looking sheepishly up at him through the strands of hair covering her face. Her wet hair so dark that it was nearly black, except where the white coral dust still stubbornly clung to it. Her hair would definitely need a good scrubbing when this was all over. If it ended favorably for her. Them.
She looked around, still not seeing any sign of the Toydarians. "Are we okay? Did we get away from them?" She held out her hand, asking for help to stand. "Look... I'm... I'm sorry about before... I just...."She trailed off. How to explain to someone about her world? About living from bounty to bounty, about never getting something from nothing, without sounding helpless and weak? Shanti didn't want to appear to be any of these things; even though Golden Boy had seen her at her weakest. The flush on her face, rather than abating, only grew fiercer.
