The Collective
Faction Name: The Collective
Faction Purpose: The objective of The Collective is simple - to bring wealth and power to its members. It seeks to collect all the disparate fringers of the galaxy into a unified force and in so doing, take control of the Galaxy's criminal underworld. The Collective may soon seek to take advantage of the current galactic chaos to seek more political power.
Faction Planet: Corvis Minor IV - A relatively out-of-the way, outer rim planet that is known for its luxury and a center of outer rim trade. Orbiting the planet is a massive Spacestation that caters to the needs of most. The surface is a center of luxury and the planet itself is a testament to opulence. The resorts, casinos, and estates of the Collective elite dot its surface.
Financial wealth: High - Very High. The Collective has its hands in anything that could make credits - legitimate or otherwise. It has a series of "Front Companies" that pursue legitimate business pursuits and launder the Collective's credits. It also has many, many seedier interests - slaving, drug trafficking, racketeering, gambling, assassinations, mercenary work and anything else where credits could be made. The Collective specializes in creating Enclaves, ranging from very high end and tailored to wealthy customers to very seedy and more mass appeal. These enclaves are centers of gambling, prostitution, racing and entertainment, trade, and relaxation. These collection of varied business interests provide the collective with vast coffers.
Military assets: Moderate. Like many organizations throughout the Galaxy, the Collective maintains its own independent military assets. At first glance the Collective maintains a respectable standing regular force. This is the force stationed on Corvis Minor IV, composed of mercenaries from across the galaxy, it has been largely transformed into a regular army. It also has been augmented by droid legions. It's regular Navy is also quite formidable for its possession of only a single planet. This force is deceiving though if taken for all the Collective can utilize militarily. For the vast majority of the organization's military endeavors, individual captains or organizations or simply mercenaries are employed. Depending on the Collective's ability to levy military assets from its dependents and associates and mercenary investment, it could field a sizable force.

Form of Government: Representative Dictatorship. The Collective is built like a small pyramid atop a vast ocean. It is both very loosely structured and tightly organized. At the top is the true bureaucracy that runs the organization, representatives of the disparate groups, depending on the strength of the group, may be allowed a seat on the Executive Board Beneath them are the loosely organized bounty hunters, pirates, and other agents and actors of the Organization.
Organization
Organization Chart (Link)
- Lord Callidus "The Shadow" - Lord Callidus' criminal name. Very few within the organization have seen him in person. He usually acts through agents or speaks through holograms of different things, making it impossible to tag him with a particular call sign. If he does make a personal appearance he almost always wears a mask. He rules with a cold, merciless fist. He is the supreme executive.
The Enforcers - The Enforcers are a special arm of the The Collective with agents that report directly to the Shadow. They are dispatched at the discretion of Lord Callidus, usually for high priority missions of the utmost importance. They may also serve as Lord Callidus' bodyguard. For Enforcers to be sent on a mission means that success or death. Only the most elite agents are recruited for this corps. They are usually given freedom to do as they please to accomplish their missions as long as they are successful.
- Executive Council (Name subject to change) - This body is comprised of the highest ranking executives of the Collective, a great deal of legislative power is invested within this group. They are the governing board, equivalent to "Grand Moffs" of the Sith Empire in terms of power and duty. Their official title is Executive followed by their name (Executive Jones, etc). These Executives usually oversee a particular arm or region of business.
Official Enterprises - These are businesses and organizations directly organized by the Collective and operated under the wing of an Executive. Executives all maintain Collective Agents, who are either assigned to them, or personally hired. Any full member of the organization will be placed under an Executive depending on skills and needs of the organization.
- Affiliates' Council - This body is equivalent to a House of Representatives or Senate. "Affiliates" are the various pirate bands, slaving rings, and other semi-independent groups that have decided to come under the wing of the Collective. This council allows for organization wide discussion and consensus building, however in reality it has very little official power. This body doesn't have any operational function, only governing.
Affiliates - These are the bulk of the Collective's members. Affiliates are by and large independent actors who have decided it would be more profitable to work within this criminal system rather than against it. Affiliates are usually small, localized groups. They are protected in their area of business and are given business preference for the Collective ventures in their particular field. Associated Affiliates find it much easier to expand, find contacts, and hire reliable contractors for business. Affiliates are given a free hand for the most part, but must operate within certain guidelines. More powerful or loyal affiliates might be given a monopoly in a region or a product, this is an extremely high honor as it cuts out a great deal of competition and Collective will ruthlessly enforce their monopolies. Affiliates are assigned an executive to report to and take commands from. Being an Affiliate is like being a citizen of a country rather than in its military, you are just agreeing to work within our system rather than necessarily for it. You are mostly free to do as you please.
Faction History:
The Collective was cobbled together slowly. It began several generations ago as a low level, mafia style organization by members of the Magnus-Solo family that went corrupt. Descending from the non-royal line of the family, they grew bored with politics and sought a means by which they could acquire wealth and power. With each generation the family grew wealthier and more powerful, simultaneously running legitimate businesses and serving in the Corellian Government while also running their criminal empire. They began with crime focused in Corellia but slowly expanded outwards. They eventually anonymously acquired the largely uninhabited and Non-Rpublic planet of Corvis Minor IV.
The planet was tropical and they envisioned a planet of luxury where they could cater to the elite of the Galaxy. It would be a place where they could enjoy any of life's luxuries, even those normally considered taboo elsewhere. They began inviting other criminals to join them as Affiliates of their organization. Over time the governing of the organization became for formalized and streamlined. As the Magnus-Solo family descended into dark side leanings, they began to fight among each other for power. Their competitions were getting larger and almost public, threatening the fledgling operation. Archduke Torn Magnus-Solo IV eventually killed many members of his family and made the rest submit to his will, while still retaining considerable power on the Executive. This board was initially closed off to all except family members, but after years of scheming and promoting allies, non-family members became members and then came to dominate the board. It is became the exception for Magnus-Solos to sit on this body.
They developed a fearsome reputation for ruthlessness, efficiency, and discretion. Those who opposed them usually did not live long however even after all of these years hardly even a rumor has crept up about the individuals of the family. The organization built a network of contacts, allies, spies, and agents in many corners of the known universe. They got into almost every racket imaginable. "If its profitable, its acceptable" became their unofficial slogan. Nothing was sacred or beneath them. Despite their willingness to get their hands dirty, they preferred the "High Class Underworld" - gambling, illegal artifact and creature trading, assassinations, etc.
In recent years Julius Magnus-Solo secretly took power from his father, who also made himself almost unknown to the organization. Upon becoming a Sith Lord, he sought to integrate elements of the empire with the various fringe factions in the galaxy, feeling this a potent combination of ambition and greed. Ruling as Lord Callidus, he has issued an invitation across the galaxy to whoever was looking for credits and power.
