Race: Human
Age: 15
Birthplace:Coruscant
Allegiance:Jedi
Status:Healer trainee
Rank:Padawan
Height/Weight:5'5", 117 lbs
Appearance:
Some times appearances can be deceiving, however with Emmi this is not necessarily the case. She has always been an open person and it reflects in her appearance. She always tries to project a warm and welcoming demeanor when she is around other people. She stands at five feet and five inches and weighs one hundred seventeen pounds, which is a little lighter than most of that height. Her slight build and average height does not make her look very intimidating or imposing. This suits her because she would not want to frighten anyone.
Her skin is fair and does not tan but instead burns when exposed to the sun for long periods of time. However, her cheeks have a light perpetual blush to them. Her eyes are green which clash with her bright red-brown hair. She keeps her hair’s length a couple of inches past her shoulder. Much to her displeasure, her hair is the first thing people tend to notice about her. To combat this she typically tries to keep the red locks pulled back in a braid or out of the way.
Like with most other Jedi, Emmi can often be found wearing traditional Jedi robes. These garments are what she finds most comfortable and she will not wear anything else unless the occasion dictates it. In a way, she keeps her hair pulled back and does not diverge in clothing choice as a way to be unassuming and to not be noticed.
Personality:Emmi has always been very introverted, meaning being around crowds or other people can be exhausting. Even when she was a young child, she would sometimes withdraw from a group to recharge and relax alone. This would cause some problems with her relations with her age mates. She was so quiet that she made few friends, however the friends she did make were very dear to her and she cared for them deeply. While some might find the solitude, lonesome or even troubling Emmi instead found great value in it as it allowed her to focus on her internal world. In addition to being highly introverted, Emmi is also very intuitive even without the aid of the Force. She usually followed her intuition, as it was usually correct. Consequently, she is protective of her inner self, sharing only what she choose to share when she chooses to share it. While she often will only share her private thoughts if asked, she is horrible at altering information or lying. She rarely tries to deceive people it often will not work.
Conflict is something that greatly bothers Emmi. Thus, she tries to avoid it at all costs. This is conflict both in the physical violent sense of the word but also in the sense of social or personal conflict. She is very sensitive to conflict, and cannot tolerate it very well. Situations that are charged with conflict may drive the normally peaceful Emmi into a state of agitation or stress. She also tends to internalize conflict as not to burden others with it. This is in part due to her desire to make people happy. She cannot stand to see someone hurt or upset as she feels that she needs to help them in any way she can. More, she enjoys helping people as it makes her feel useful and accomplished. Despite being bothered by conflict, Emmi is genuinely happy most of the time. She always tries to keep up a happy demeanor to put people at ease. Her favorite thing to do is to visit the younglings or small children that are in the care of the Jedi. While she sometimes has trouble relating to people of her age group, she feels at ease with children.
Emmi has suffered very few personal tragedies in her short lifetime. Since the Jedi discovered Emmi when she was very young, she was relatively sheltered from experience true personal loss. Between not experiencing a significant loss and the teachings of the Jedi Emmi was able to go through her childhood and young adulthood with a veil of naivety. The first and only real tragedy that she has ever experienced was when her Master died of cancer. Emmi did mourn the loss, but only did so privately so that she could keep the rest of her life in relative order. The Jedi teachings helped Emmi to accept her Master’s death as death is a natural part of life. In that, way she was able to react to her master’s death in a fairly healthy way. However, because of her inexperience with dealing with loss or tragedy she lacks the emotional tools to deal with it if it were to occur.

Biography:
Nearly twenty four years ago a woman by the name of Ahn Daneb became pregnant with her first child. At the time she was only seventeen years old and still living with her family. The father in question was a seventeen-year-old young man named Rune Sadr. Upon discovering the pregnancy, Rune denied being the father and completely abandoned Ahn. With no support from her boyfriend, Ahn had no choice but to turn to her parents. Like many parents who discover that their teenage daughter is pregnant, they were very distraught. The family was not wealthy, so taking care of an additional mouth and the medical appointments that are associated with pregnancies put a strain on the family’s finances.
As the pregnancy progressed Ahn began to feel the rift between her and her parents growing. When she needed support from friends and family the most she felt completely alone and abandoned. She felt that the only person who would ever love her unconditionally was the baby that was growing inside of her. Ahn began to imagine a life with her baby and it gave her a great deal of hope. However, she did not have a job aside from working at her father’s business, which would not allow her to provide for a child. In her final trimester Ahn’s parents informed her that they were not going to support her or the child if she chose to keep it. Heartbroken, but with no other choice Ahn was going to have to give her baby up for adoption. Her mental state deteriorated up until she gave birth in a Ruan hospital. The child she gave birth to was a boy, whom immediately taken away.
After the birth of her son Ahn’s depression deepened. All she could think about was leaving her home planet and her family to escape the memory of her lost child. She worked for her father for over a year and saved every bit of money she could until she was able to pay for a one-way pass from Ruan to Coruscant. Ahn was not the sort to plan so left for the city planet without a job waiting for her or any idea of where she might stay. Since she did not have enough money to stay in a hotel she was forced to find shelter in the open. After a several nights of this she was able to find a job as a waitress in a small restaurant and leased a small, dirty apartment.
Despite what she had originally thought, leaving her family and the planet she had lived on her entire life did not make her feel better for very long. Her own financial problems and crushing loneliness began to take a real toll on both her mental and physical wellbeing. Her depression became so severe that it became too much to leave her apartment to go to work. As a result of her absence she lost her job and found herself in a disastrous situation. In desperation, she wandered the lower levels in search of work, any sort of work so she could pay for rent and food. In her mind to return to her family was not an option. She could never face them after leaving. It was in this desperation that a man approached her about working for him. The job he offered her was to be a prostitute. He claimed that the work would be easy and that she would make a lot of money in a minimum amount of time. Ahn initially did not want to take the job but found that she had no other option. She decided that she would only do it for a short while, just until she was able to find another job. However, as time passed she found that any jobs she did find she was not capable of keeping for too long so she instead found her money as a prostitute.
Five years after the birth of her son, Ahn became pregnant again from an anonymous father. During the pregnancy, Ahn found a job picking up garbage. Ahn worked until her condition no longer allowed for her to work. On the day that Ahn went into labor she was too afraid to go to the hospital so gave birth in her apartment. The baby was female and she named her Emmi. Ahn loved her daughter instantly and wanted to make sure she was always happy. Once she was physically able, she went back to work, leaving Emmi with a neighbor.
The following years Emmi grew and proved to be a very happy child despite the chaos around her. Her mother worked hard to feed them and keep their apartment all while attempting to shield her daughter from the world’s ugliness. When Ahn had her first child she had been naïve, but living in the lower levels of Coruscant had robbed her of that naivety. So, she poured into her daughter all the happiness and hopes she had. She wanted to ensure that her daughter did not grow hard like she had. Starting when Emmi was two years old Ahn’s health began to deteriorate quickly. She struggled to keep work and to care for her daughter. Ahn sensed that the illness she had contracted was not something that she would ever fully recover from. Over the following year Ahn’s illness would flare up and leave her nearly incapacitated.
On one of Ahn’s better days she took Emmi with her to buy some groceries. Emmi was particularly troublesome on this particular outing and wandered off while Ahn wasn’t looking. The three year old became very distraught when she realized that she was lost and began to cry. Her cries attracted the attention of a man passing through. The man was calm and comforted the girl until she stopped crying. Once she was calm he asked her to explain what was wrong. As best as she could, Emmi told him that she was lost. He took her hand and helped her find her mother who was also desperately searching for her daughter. Ahn thanked the man for finding her daughter. The two got to talk and the situation that Ahn found herself in eventually came out. The man offered to have a meal with the two. After the meal, the man told Ahn that he was a Jedi and had sensed the Force in Emmi and offered to bring Emmi back with him. As much as Ahn wanted to keep her daughter with her she knew that she would not be able to care for her for long. Ahn knew that if she let the Jedi take Emmi with him that she would be able to at least have a chance to preserve the kind heart she was born with. So, once again, Ahn agreed to give her child up. Only this time she did so knowing it was for the best. Since Emmi was so young when she was taken to the Jedi temple she does not have any clear memories of her life before it. The earliest memory she has is riding on a man’s back through the city. Beyond that clear memory, she only recalls that she felt happy before being taken away.
The culture shock that was the Jedi temple was at first jolting as she had rarely spent massive amounts of time with so many people. At first Emmi was anxious and rather reserved, which is common for children so young that are in a new place. While she did warm up to her fellow Younglings and caretakers she remained introverted. She would sometimes withdraw from the group physically to spend time alone. When that was not possible, she would withdraw mentally which would sometimes appear as though she was not capable of focusing during lessons. This introversion made it difficult for her to make friends like the more outgoing students. Despite this difficulty, she was not saddened by her lack of friendships. The few friends she did make were people that she always wanted to take care of. No matter what instructors tried to do, Emmi could not be broken of her introversion and they eventually stopped trying.
In classes, Emmi did well in the classroom and with basic forms but when it came to any practices that involved aggression she fell short. Some of her classmates interpreted this lack of aggression as. As a result, her fighting skills fell behind the others in her age group, even when she tried to ketch up. However, she did better with other parts of the Force. As she became an older Youngling, she found that she enjoyed spending time and helping the younger children. It made her feel useful and allowed an outlet for her natural nurturing tendencies.
When Emmi turned twelve she was informed that she was chosen as a Padawan by the Jedi Knight that had found her nine years earlier, Zyrek. Emmi had not had much contact with the Knight since he had brought her to the temple yet she still felt a connection to him almost immediately. Zyrek was a Jedi Healer who wanted to teach Emmi these skills and foster what natural skills she had that would make her a good healer.
For the first year of her padawanship Zyrek kept Emmi close to home, since both healing arts and medical training required a good deal of studying. One of her first mission was to a remote planet that had been infected with a particularly contagious strain of the Dantari flu virus. The virus had particularly hit the young and elderly populations. The disease had caused a panic on the planet so Jedi were dispatched to safely give out vaccines and treat the virus. On the mission Emmi had to put book knowledge into practice as she juggled dealing with frightened masses and tending to the sick. At first she was very uncomfortable dealing with so much chaos but she pulled through and learned to push the boundaries of her comfort zone and exercise extreme patience.
The following year when Emmi turned fourteen there was another more deadly outbreak on Duro. Since the flu outbreak Emmi had experienced many situations that called for similar measures of calm and focus, however she was not prepared for a plague outbreak that she had been thrown into. The disease’s spread was made worse by the unsanitary conditions of the densely populated planet. The dense population and the quickness the disease spread allowed for it to claim many victims. While fighting the spread of the disease, Emmi was emotionally affected by the amount of loss she faced on the mission. Seeing how upset his student was, Zyrek attempted to comfort Emmi and explain to her that dealing with death was a natural part of life. Being exposed to so much death and pain was an eye-opening experience and would allow for her to face loss in the future.
Months after the mission to Duro Emmi was hit with another blow. After seeking medical attention for persistent but seemingly minor symptoms Zyrek was diagnosed with a degenerative disease. The prognosis was bleak and instead of fight the disease Zyrek opted to let it take its course as he felt it was his time to pass on. In the months after the diagnosis Zyrek faced his own mortality while Emmi grappled with what it might be like to be the survivor. Having dealt with the mission on Duro, Emmi was more prepared to face her Master’s death in a healthy way. With time she came to accept not only the choice Zyrek had made but also that death was a natural step in the life cycle. Just recently, Zyrek succumbed to the disease leaving Emmi to mourn his passing privately and prepare to be assigned a new teacher.

She sighed heavily once more, wondering what had been so wonderful that it would make her want to sleep. It must not have been of much importance if she had already forgotten it. Emmi looked around her room aimlessly, thinking about what she might have dreamt about. Her green eyes landed on the chronometer. Immediately she was hit with a sense of urgency, but for what she could not recall. Was she supposed to be somewhere? The girl began to search through her mind desperately for the answer. It hit her hard, she was supposed to meet Felix and Master Zyrek. She looked back at the chronometer. Good, she still had some time to get ready without being horribly late, bust she would have to move quickly.
Emmi took a few large strides to the other side of her room where her Jedi robes were draped over a chair. With swift, practiced movements she pulled her night shirt up over her head and tossed it on the chair, only to pull her tunic on to replace it. Dressing in the morning came easily when the choice for what to wear was limited to the traditional Jedi robes. This is how Emmi preferred it, as she liked blending in with her fellow Jedi. It also made the morning routine fast and simple. Emmi pushed her slender fingers through her tangled red hair only to get them ketch. This was becoming more troublesome than it needed to be. She sat down on the chair she had cast her clothes on and began to tug on her locks in an attempt to untangle them before she pulled it back. Her job wasn’t as thorough as she might have liked, but it would have to do. Her fingers wove her hair together into a braid so that it was out of the way. With one last thing to do before she could leave to meet Felix and her master, she stumbled towards the door where her boots waited for her.
Finally, dressed she rushed out the door and began to hurry towards the courtyards where she was supposed to meet them. The halls weren’t crowded but there were living obstacles in her path. Emmi was not one to be impolite or become impatient with those who walked slower than she walked. Instead of becoming impatient she slowed her pace, focusing her mind on anything but being late then waited for an opening to go around them. The technique worked well for her, even if it slowed her down. She was sure Master Zyrek wouldn’t heckle her too much for being late as long as she was apologetic and calm about it. Her destination was in sight. She quickened her pace and wove around a pair of Jedi Knights that was in front of her. As she neared her waiting master, she gave him a sheepish smile.
“Sorry I’m late, Master,” she apologized with her smile still plastered on her face. “I won’t be late next time.”
