Planet Name: Mirial
Planet Type: Terrestrial
Habitable: Yes
System: Mirial
Terrain Overview: Mirial is a frigid, dry world consisting mostly of barren deserts. With a series of rocky mountains running through the cold dunes of sand, it is not a friendly world to outsiders not adapted to surviving harsh conditions. A planet of comparison would be Tatooine - only that Mirial is a much colder version.
The Mirialans have established small colonies and towns built into, below, or on top of mountains. During the day, the sun warms the planet considerably. The heat is not unbearable, however, and the Mirialans have designed osmotic clothing that allows them to absorb heat effectively and expel uncomfortable moisture.
At night, the deserts become dangerously cold. Many lost travelers have met their demise wandering around in the freezing dark.

Sentient species:

Non-Sentient species of note:
Dire-Cats : a form of wild feline predators that cause great harm to small communities of moisture farmers. These animals are sleek and muscled, with sharp teeth. They can run quickly on four feet and have deadly poisonous claws.
Sorlacs : Large beasts of burden Mirialans use to transport material. These animals are slow but strong, covered in wool to protect themselves from predators and the cold winds. Sorlacs are herbivores and eat the only plant life available on Mirial.
Vrite birds: Small, reptilian creatures with wings that make nests in the mountains. Some Vrites have been known to grow very large and even attack people; there are myths of the animals stealing infants from their cribs at night.
History:
Mirial has been a virtually unknown world throughout much of galactic history. The world was a member of the Galactic Republic up until the Jedi Civil War. When the War broke out, Mirial sided with the Sith because of its strategic location in the Outer Rim Territories. After the war ended, Mirial was brought back into the Republic's fold.
Mirial has served as a minor trading world for Outer Rim spacers, providing goods such as rock, meat, or precious minerals mined deep underground the desert surface.
