Character Name: Esven Dree Character Source: SWUR, Pending. Character Faction/Alignment: Republic Spec Ops. Type of Roleplay: I don't mind. I would like a variety though, to practise different types. Roleplay Requirements: I don't really know, so up to the mentor. Reason for Request: I want to improve my roleplaying before I start on the forums.

Good day sir! I'm your friendly neighborhood mentor!(and the only one that doesn't have life priorities at the moment, which is sad for me when you think about it xD). I'll be helping you out as best I can in your role playing goals.
Now, my first advice to you is to browse some topics while we do this, see the level of some of the others here. Now, I don't expect you to write like some of them(god forbid, if you could, I'd say why are you even in this thread xD), not right away at least. Get an idea of what the level of role playing is and then, from your own, slowly work towards something like that. But never think you're work is poor; take faith in your posts and just work on it slowly by saying "this isn't bad but I want to do better".
Anyway, that aside, for a quick thread in here for me to see your current level, I shall drag my Republic officer out of his hidey hole (GET OUT HERE TRYOS) to assist you.
Now, I like it when you guys start us off, so I can get an initial feel for you as I reply. If you don't want to start it, that's fine too, for I can. PM me which you'd prefer and we'll go from there, savvy?

So I'll actually be taking over here. Been a while since I rpm'd but I believe I've still got it =P
Anyway, I'll likely use my Jedi, Locke. Should mesh will with military types. I'll get a scenario cooked up for you either later tonight or tomorrow.
Format'll be simple: I'll post and once you've jumped in, I'll offer critique as the thread goes.
So, that's that :3 if you have any questions or want anything in particular, just let me know :3

Okay, so a day late getting to you, and you have my apologies for that. Didn't know my folks would be getting the floor replaced on Sunday while I was visiting home and that was an all-day adventure. Anyway, moving things along without further ado. I've decided Locke will be accompanying Esven and a team on a mission to investigate some potential trouble oooooon Ord Mantell. I'm sure a Sith spec ops team will be involved, doing shady things that the Republic doesn't like.
The particulars are still vague because I'll probably be mostly flying by the seat of my pants here. Also to allow you to shape thread and the direction it goes in for the duration of the session.
Also transitioning from writing for work to RP can be a little janky, so this miiiiight not be my best, but we'll see how it goes.
So let's get to it.
Pink sky. Now that's something you don't see every day. Locke looked at the window with no small degree of interest as a shuttle streaked through Ord Mantell's atmosphere. The ground below steadily grew more defined as they came closer to it; orbit's dimness gradually faded away from the sky, leaving a strange pinkness in its wake.
It was Ord Mantell as Locke had heard it described. Dusty. Barren. Pink. Lovely place, really. Even so, there was a difference in having an academic knowledge of a place and actually seeing it with you own two eyes.
Much like the first time Locke had a base delta zero. He knew the nearly-toxic mix of alcohols had an unfathomably-high alcohol percentage. But experiencing it for himself, well... that was quite another thing.
He chuckled softly to himself and turned away from the window, scratching thoughtfully at his scruffy beard. The shuttle's interior was filled with a small team of Republic Special Operations soldiers, and Locke supposed he was one as well, by extension. At least as far as today's purposes were concerned.
That was fine with him.
“Not the prettiest place, is it?” Locke unpromptedly asked the soldier next to him — Esven, if he remembered names correctly. The shuttle lurched in the heavy air as it adjusted course and turned to its final heading. They'd be landing soon. Far away from the zone of spaceports for tourists and casual visitors that wrapped the planet's equator. “But I guess you don't always get to go screw around on white sand beaches with beautiful women if you're the Sith, do you? Beggars can't be choosers...”
In truth of it was that the Sith, supposedly, had agents on the ground that were looking to make some trouble in Ord Mantell's considerable natural resource mining operations. While not a direct threat to the Republic as a whole, Ord Mantell was one of her worlds, and the last thing a staggering Republic needed was another world being thrown into chaos.
Especially not in the Mid Rim.
But that's why we're here, Locke thought, just as the craft set down with a gently thud.
“Sounds like we've made it, gents,” he said, looking around the group. He unfastened his restraining belt and stood, checking his pistol and lightsbaer to be sure they were, in fact, will there.“We've got an informant to meet now. Let's not keep him waitin' too long. Mama wouldn't be very proud.”

Corporal Esven Dree had been to Ord Mantell numerous times, so wasn't exactly impressed. After the fifth visit the pink clouds and two moons became less interesting and more dull. As they were possibly the only interesting thing on the planet, Esven wasn't excited about this mission.
"Not the prettiest place, is it?" Said the man to his direct right. “But I guess you don't always get to go screw around on white sand beaches with beautiful women if you're the Sith, do you? Beggars can't be choosers...”
The Lorrdian smirked; his helmet wasn't on yet, so you could see his facial expressions clearly. "However hard they try, being in a group of evil aristocrats isn't the thing most beautiful women look for in a man. Not the ones on white beaches, anyway."
The space shuttle lurched sideways and Esven now decided to put on his helmet. Not only did it give protection, the blue polarised visor also hid his eyes, meaning he could study the man beside him.
The Jedi was to accompany them on this particular mission due to its sensitivity. Corporal Dree had mixed feelings: the Jedi would surely be a help, but it did mean there was yet another person who outranked him. Hopefully this Locke wouldn't be as bad as the Sergeant...
Esven Dree, helmet donned and armour checked, put his custom made blaster into its holster. The thing was more precious to him than most people were and had saved his life more than once. It had a lower accuracy than most blasters, but a higher power, and was built to tear through armour. He probably didn't need it for this mission, it being mostly smuggler infested, but it was there anyway.
He stepped out onto Ord Mantell, a few miles away from the nearest city and, consequently, the nearest spaceport. The pink sky stained the ground in the early morning. Most people would call it pretty. The Ten Mile Plateau was visible from where they were. That was their destination.
