So, this is one of those times where I have an idea for a semi-large event IC and toss it out to see if there's any interest in it.

We've got a year change coming up. And while we don't really do anything special for them, I think it might be fun to explore a new year's celebration IC.

Here's what I'm thinking. The details aren't really all the way fleshed out yet, but I want you guys to weigh in with your interest, or even thoughts of your own if you have any.

The general idea is that there's going to be a celebration going down on some planet, probably in the Inner Rim/Expansion region or further out. It'd be a nice place. Not necessarily a Republic world, but not a festering pit like your Nar Shadaas or Tatooines or what have you.

So festivities would be going on and stuff. 3600. Big year, why not celebrate? People would come from all around, there'd be fireworks, booze, beautiful women/men, the whole nine yards.

Then something goes down, and violently so. Could be the Sith causing trouble. Could be the Republic doing it, if it's on a Sith or Sith-friendly world (though truthfully,they seem less likely, but hey). Could be an independent group of terrorists, or fanatics, or a group trying to pass themselves off as one of the major powers.

So the nice evening gets ruined. People die. Fighting happens, perhaps an evacuation is ordered. I'm open for this to be open to discussion, but the general idea is, as you can tell, everything's going right, then, for whatever reason, goes very wrong.

I want this to kinda be open to a range of characters, maybe make for some strange bedfellows situations. Obviously, the chances of a Jedi and Sith coming together to work together are preeeeeetty low, but you catch my drift. But I'll probably use my Matukai, Tsubasa, for example.

Anyway, the bare bones of what I have in mind are there. If people are interested, we can move further and get something together and have a bit of fun to rock in the new SWU year.

It's open to anyone and everyone that wants in. The only stipulation I'd have is to have the major characters, probably (but not necessarily) NPCs, that are going to make things move, as far as the overarching thread of the... well, thread, goes, be played by some of the more senior members who've been around for a while. Just as a precaution against losing a key cog and everything grinding to a halt. It's happened before and it sucks.

But other than that, everything's open for the moment.

(Also, at this point, it's hard to tell if anything's out of line 'cause everything's all vague. But I'll keep my eye on this thread and post every once in a while if I do see something out of line).

Prelimnary planning: Thinking Woostri will be the world. Location that's not used much. Also, beaches galore and popular vacation spot? Sounds like a good new year's bash place to me.

So, it's a Republic world. I'm leaning a bit towards some terrorrists doing bad things. Perhaps trying to pull off being Sith, though their masquerade could potentially be broken during the raid/attack. Also might have an important peep or two there. Like some senior senator, or high-ranking committee chairman or something. Terrorist group might have a beef with them in particular and try to carve a path to kill/and or capture them, whoever they are.

Or they could be a ship designer with some plans for an impressive new line of ship, which thought not directly tied to the purpose of the thread, would be something the bad dudes would want. To sell. Or keep from themselves, but probably sell.

A combination of all of the above could work. Essentially a big ol' new years party type of deal with festivities and partying going on at the beach front and/or harbor, while a new Republic vessel is being showcased during the partying as a sort of symbol of Republic ingenuity for the future ahead, and some type of Republic political official like a senator or whatever hosting the gala and giving the new vessel it's send off via the classic smashing of champagne bottle against its hull. The terrorist attack itself appearing to be just cause mayhem, but only serving as a front for their actual agenda which is the theft of the new vessel and the Republic bigwig with it.

Albeit, I can see that possibly being a bit too much and needing some form of simplification. XD But I do like the idea of a mass celebration on the beach.

Don't think both are needed together. The Senator thing works, I mean there's always going to be people who don't agree with their elected official. There could even be some background issues with the senator themselves, or with the efforts they've made against some specific moral beliefs of a group on the planet. That's if you want the terrorists to be from that world and have the story be a bit more self contained.

I was actually going to suggest Woostri, having known about it before.

And I kinda like the idea of maybe both in some form. Maybe unneeded, but I sort of like it.

Perhaps there are a group of people who don't like the Senator figure, and that's the primary thing, but then they're like, "Hey... this here ship... it looks pretty smexy. Want this." I dunno, but I'm thinking it could turn into a kind of spin-off thing with other people's characters in later threads. That's just me.

My only real problem with a gala kind of thing is I wanted to use Anisa. Anisa would be a more party on the beach kind of person. And Dutch and I really wanna showcase our Humani couple a bit more. Sure, I could maybe use Sali too, to keep the Gala alive but my posts would be epic long, in order to keep stories alive.

Unless... the Senator thing is just the background for the attack and our real focus is people on the beach/streets when the attack starts.

Correct. There can be an aspect of that high-class, pomp and circumstance type celebration, surely, but my real desire is for this to focus on the characters that are usually the odd ones out for bigger events. So it'd be the background, mostly to lay the foundation for everything, and then the rest will fall out as it does.

*ponders...ponders...ponders* Tempted...so very tempted to throw Tyros or Shine into this mess. Tyros because he doesn't get enough love(and as Republic military could legit be there) and Shine because Shine is the one character I can throw into chaos and can have fun with it. How he'd get in, I dunno, but the man isn't a smuggler for nothing!

Basic Synopsis: New year's eve. Parties and celebrating on the shores at Woostri. As part of the general festival going on, a senator's hanging around, perhaps at a gala a little separated from the main partying for the peons. Due to senator being there, there are disgruntled terrorists, who have a bone (of a yet to be determined nature) to pick with him/her. THey're willing to do bad things to pick this bone and capture/kill the senator. There also may be a famous shipwright or something there. IF not to demostrate the ship, to discuss plans with the senator, maybe to work out a lucrative/advantageous manufacturing contract for his buddies through the senator and his/her friends. Trying to steal the ship plans/the ship itself for themselves/someone behind the scenes (I have an idea on that front) might be a secondary objective for the bad guy group.


That's where we're at so far. Just wanted to get that down in writing


ETA: I will also pointout the HoloScan Database, which is apparently on Woostri. Some super library or something. May/may not be something to consider playing a role in the way things play out.

Question! Is the main parting for the peons taking place on the Woostri beaches?

Of course. It'll probably be set along the shore area, so there will be some beaches and places just inside the shore and what not. Like your typical beach strip for tourists.

Go ahead and add Averia to the list. I'm not quite done rewriting her app, but I should be done by the time this plot kicks off so long I get my ass in gear. XD

...Well heck, if there's gonna be a shipwright there showing off his latest work...then I have a legit reason for Shine to want to be there. How I'll work out soon enough. Shine will find a way. (A legit way that makes sense...yes)

Also, Jenno says no to having an actual ship demonstration. So it'd be a meeting with the senator/senator buddies to try to get a contract for manufacture put together. I obviously don't have a problem either way, but the conversations wouldn't really be pertinent to Shine.

Though with it being your typical 'hey it's a new year let's party' type deal, I don't think it would be hard for him to be in the area =P I'm going to go on and sign him up. Lemme know if that's yer final decision though
