One of the things I have noticed it is extremely hard sometimes to find a picture for a character, landscape, animal, ship, starship. Its sometimes really easy to find one because what your looking for is simple I notice that sometimes people have BEAUTIFUL images all over their posts and I'm just sat there wondering... How'd you find these.
So what's your tips for finding a character image.
I usually just think of a movie in which I have seen a woman or man like the one I am trying to create: I have in the past used Jason Statham, but as far as getting a really beautiful concept art piece its nearly impossible.

"Rocks fall, everyone dies," you say? I once clipped a PC with an orbital railgun. He walked it off.

Some folks have friends that they can commission or suggest custom pieces from. Other times it just takes a lot of varied searching. Some people (and this group has the most massive hills and valleys of creativity) find an image that they love and build backwards from it.

It must get expensive to commission pieces from an artist?

Well, I mean, if it's a friend then usually not. I know people who can hammer out very nice pieces in a few hours (not with really high-grade materials; either digital art of simple things like pens and colored pencils) for free just to pass the time and enjoy some conversation while they do it. If it's complicated or I want something a little fancier, then I've paid them twenty or thirty dollars for the time and effort.
Commissions from established artists or artists that use upper echelon supplies can be extremely costly, though the difference in quality is worth it.

If only i'd been good at art Although i'm one of those shoulder plate fan-boys who would just make skyscrapers on the shoulders to look boss. Maybe i should take a look at artists then on deviantart. First though i need to improve my writing abilities because its all well and good having a picture But useless if i can't do it justice.
