Name: Eliana "Lina" Kerrik
Race: Firrerreo
Age: 30
Birthplace: Commenor
Allegiance: The Exchange
Status: Bounty Hunter/Smuggler
Rank: Agent, Sector Boss prospect
Height/Weight: 5'9"/150lbs
Appearance:
Lina is not unattractive. Her most prominent features -gold skin; two toned (black with silver streaks), shoulder length hair; prominent canine teeth- might seem novel to those unfamiliar with her species, but they are certainly nothing to write home about. She keeps herself fit, disgusted by the idea of losing her figure. Luckily for her, this obsession has not crossed into the territory of disorder.
In spite of her rather common features, Lina maintains a certain air of luxury. She moves with self satisfied vanity and compliments this with the swagger of one confident in their own skills. Putting thought into what she wears and how she wears it, Lina is an expert in making herself into what she wants others to believe her to be. She is an actress, a chameleon, and a fantastic liar.
Her copper colored eyes are skilled in maintaining an air of some secret knowledge she hasn't seen fit to share. Most of the time, this is likely just a ruse to put others off, and it often works. Looking like she knows what she's doing and belongs where she is has paid off a great deal for this sector boss hopeful.
Personality:
As an only child with largely absent parents, Lina quickly learned to take care of herself. This independent nature was very much encouraged by her father who had relied on his own strength and cunning to secure his place in the galaxy. She was encouraged to do things for herself when she could. And when she could not, she found that the manipulation of others was usually the second best thing.
The criminal world is full of liars, so Lina was never lacking instruction in that field. Watching her father rise through the ranks of the Exchange branch of Commenor, Lina learned how to discover the motivations and desires of others, and how to use that knowledge to her own advantage. She was taught survival and advancement were paramount, and that scruples and morals only hindered progress toward those goals. This should not, however, be mistaken for a preference toward cruelty. Such a mindset could and often did lead others astray from the true prizes of power and wealth. And nothing was worth that kind of sacrifice. Decisions and actions should always be beneficial to one’s own advancement.
Others are viewed as tools or obstacles, to be used or avoided as needed. She has developed a loyalty to her father, as he has been the most useful being in her life, but few others could claim such a hold on Lina. What few attachments she might have accidentally developed in her youth were corrected as she matured and learned the dangers they held. She is usually aloof, but does not lack in social skills. This preference for distance in personal relationships leads her to prefer the spacer crowd and males in general, as they tend to ask few questions and are always in favor of drinking.
She has, over the years, developed a weakness for alcohol and some drugs. She struggles to maintain a working balance between indulgence a control. She is not always successful. This fact is the greatest source of shame not only for Lina's father, but herself as well.
In general, Lina is able to keep her emotions in check, but is liable to lose control from time to time. More often, it's anger that gets the best of her. This usually works in her favor; shows of brute force being often necessary in the criminal world. She is also quite stubborn due to mostly getting her own way throughout her life, but not without a healthy sense of humor.

Biography:
Zain and Nymm Kerrik left Firrerre shortly after their marriage. Zain had lost the small wealth his family had established when he ran their trading business into the red. They found themselves on Commenor where Zain slaved the days away at the docks for a meager wage and Nymm did her best to keep their humble house in order. Zain hated the disgrace he'd found himself in and there was little Nymm could do to console him as she was also ashamed of her husband. Their marriage was held together by little more than stubborn pride for the first two years that the young couple scraped by on this foreign world.
That changed when Zain found himself presented with an opportunity. As a night shift supervisor at the docks Zain's only semblance of power was overseeing the comings and goings of cargo. He was a prime candidate for covering the nefarious dealings of the Exchange. The offer was more than Zain could refuse, though he never would have to begin with. And very quickly, life in the Kerrik household began to change. Their bills were no longer an issue and Zain felt as if he was being appreciated for the first time in his life.
He worked hard for the Exchange and showed initiative. He bribed, threatened, or otherwise coerced other managers at his dock into the works and soon had unofficial run of the place. His efforts were noticed and Zain began to rise within the Commenor cell of the Exchange. Within a few years, the ambitious Zain had the ear of Commenor's boss and the loyalty of many of those within the ranks. They were moving up in the world as Zain was able to provide his now pregnant wife with all the creature comforts they would have expected on Firrerre, and then some. When the old boss died, the struggle for power between his son and Zain was a short one. The son was eliminated and Zain was the new boss of Commenor. His daughter, Eliana was born only a few weeks later.
Eliana found herself growing up in a world where power, not people, mattered. Her father spent all his time running his business, something the little girl hardly understood. All she knew was that papa was too busy for her, but would buy her toys and clothes if she wanted them. Mama was much the same. She was far too busy replacing old furniture with new items, or keeping up with the latest fashion trends. From a tutor, she learned the basics of schooling, but the real lesson was that intelligence and schooling were tools to be used toward the true purpose of life: climbing the ranks.
As a child, her social interactions were limited at best. Her tutor and their household servants were the main source of interaction in the young girl's life. They called her Lina, for none of them knew her birth name. Even her parents used the nickname when others were around and the girl began to associate Eliana with being in trouble. She learned to entertain herself, and never truly learned the concepts of empathy or sharing beyond their superficial benefits. She had no true source of compassion in her life, no one who she could run to and feel safe. And so she became her own source of strength and learned quickly to hide her weaknesses from the world as best she could.
As she grew, Lina would learn the power her name held. That it was her identity and that allowing another know it was to give that power away. Even her parents' true names were carefully kept secret, even from her. This was perhaps the only real piece of their heritage that the Kerrik family continued to hold onto, and it was a lesson the girl would take to heart as she came to truly understand it.
Teenage children have an innate drive to push boundaries and establish their own independence. When raised by distant parents, this tendency can quickly become self-destructive. This was exactly the case for Lina. She subconsciously sought out the attention she didn't even know she craved from her parents. In the place where these things might reside, she substituted alcohol, drugs, and sex. These things filled that void, however temporary, but at a cost.
Lina threw and attended parties, the kind that would last for days on end. She would awake in strange houses and in the arms of strange lovers. She blew through her father's money like a wildfire. Were it not for his own reputation, Zain might never have pulled her out of the gutter she so quickly fell into. As it was, Zain had realized an inconvenient truth: Lina was his only heir. If he wanted the empire of power and influence he created to last, he would have to mold her into something worthy of carrying on the legacy.
At first, Lina resented the suddenly strict and overbearing man her father had become. But as time wore on, she found a certain satisfaction in having actual goals in her life. Soon, there was no mistaking that Lina was her father’s daughter. She craved the same things he did, even more than the drugs and alcohol. She still slipped from time to time, but Lina had found purpose.
Knowing that power was best when earned, Zain cut Lina no slack. She started at the bottom and had to fight for every bit of praise or recognition. And fight she did. Though she received no help from her father while on the job, Lina had access to funds that allowed her personal trainers and more tutors. She studied martial arts and business, law and first aid. She was no scholar, but The young woman learned the loopholes the Exchange had been exploiting for generations. She was no combat master, but she could hold her own in a fist fight if the situation called for it.
More and more, that was exactly what the situation called for. Zain steered his daughter down a difficult path within the organization. She was groomed as an agent, though “enforcer” might have been a better word for it. She was not naturally suited to the job. There were larger, stronger beings out there who might be more intimidating that she, but Lina wouldn’t back down from the challenge. What she lacked in brute force, she made up for with a cunning mind. Manipulation and blackmail brought her success enough to earn her seniority over lower level Exchange members, enough to give her the muscle she needed on occasion.
The hard work was paying off. In spite of being the boss’ offspring, and in spite of being female, Lina was earning respect and status. As Zain had wanted, this regard came not from his own influence, but was due entirely to Lina’s own efforts. By the time she had earned the spot as Zain’s top agent, no one cried nepotism, but supported the arrangement in earnest.
Though rare, there was the occasional suiter for Lina. She found these sorts of things amusing at best, but more often than not, she just thought it was tedious. Her father encouraged her to consider a match from time to time -she would have to have an heir of her own someday, after all- but he too was not ever truly impressed with the men that came forward. Those that did got points for bravery at least. Lina was not exactly considered very approachable in that regard. Her father was even more daunting. So, overall, the exploits of love were not exactly something that Lina prioritized above the occasional fling.

“C’mon Lee, you know that’s not how this works.”
The small, mouse-like man cowered, his eyes glassy eyes wide with anxiety. Flanking him were two of Lina’s favorite men, each with a large hand on either of Lee’s shoulders. Those hands looked like they might be able to crush the man’s head if she commanded. But losing Lee would be more of a bother than roughing him up.
“I… I know! I’m sorry! You gotta understand the heat I’m under.”
“The heat you’re under?” Lina replied, an eyebrow arching. “You think you’re the only one with problems, Lee?” she jutted her chin toward one of her thugs. “You see Bones here? He’s got anger issues. Don’tcha Bones?”
Bones squeezed Lee’s shoulder hard in response, causing the man to yelp in pain.
“Therapy don’t come cheap, Lee!” Lina said, stepping in close to the little man. “If I can’t cover his expenses, I gotta let him take it out some other way. You wanna be that other way?”
Bones squeezed again.
“AAAHHH! NO! NO! ALRIGHT!”
Lina waved her hand and Bones released Lee, who collapsed to the floor. Lina crouched down next to the man and lifted his chin with her index finger. “You see how this works for everybody?” she asked, and Lee nodded his head in defeat. “Good.” she said, tapping his cheek lightly with her fingertips. “I’ll send Bones for the paperwork after his session with the shrink in the morning.” She and the thugs turned to leave the small customs shop. “Always a pleasure doing business with you, Lee.”
