Planet Name:
Qweztoc (Qweh-ztoc)
Planet Type:
Ice-Covered Forest/Tundra
Habitable:
Yes
System:
Qweztoc ( B-12 on map Closest System is Tartus)
Terrain Overview:
Best described as a 'Paradise Lost', the once pristine world of Qweztoc is now completely covered in wastelands with debris filling the land not covered by forests, with a few farms still left intact. Forests cover vast swaths of land, but most has been destroyed in the Civil War, with most predicted to never come back. At night, most of the living creatures have fallen into caves or borrows where they slept out the nearly -52 C nights, with a small moon providing little light in the sky, most coming from blaster rifles in the primary city or small villages.
The relative untouched forest of Kratchen.
Notable Geographic Features:
Kratchen Forest Range- One of the few places on the planet un-scarred by the civil war gripping the planet.
The 1,300 KM long Tundra covering 75% of the planet.
Great Tundra- Once believe to have been a great ocean before a climatic cataclysm, this tundra now covers 75% of the planet's surface, with 98% of the population living here, and it's only settlement, Qwezrac City, is located here.
This is all that remains of the Neon Light Sector after nearly 100 years of civil war.
Capital City:
Qwezrac City- The first settlement on the planet, it is guarded by a ring of turbolaser turrets, to keep predators and more recently, guerrilla fighters, out of the city. Still, fighting has broken out in the city, and the Neon Light Sector is the most damaged. Once a pleasant place of casinos, all that's left are destroyed and collapsing buildings, with the sounds of blasters echoing throughout the ruined sector.
A small village, still untouched by war. The moon, Qweztoc II hangs low in the sky.
Major cities:
The only things representing cities other than Qwezrac are the small villages scattered throughout the icy landscape.
Sentient species:
Native: None
Immigrated: Humans, Amarans, Duros & Hutts
Non-Sentient species of note:
Jiruls (Hiruls)-
Not much is known about these creatures, as few have been caught, alive or dead. The few specimens the colonists have managed to retrieve show a beast of massive proportions, weighing nearly 2000 pounds, with a predicted wingspan of 19 Meters. Luckily for the colonists, many of the creatures stay in the far north region, far too cold for adequate colonization, and the recent fighting seems to have frightened the species completely off of the region for a while.
History:
Likely an extremely ancient world, the planet shows signs of being a beautiful tropical world inhabited by an unknown sentient species, possibly the ancestors of Jiruls, but this is just speculation. It appears as if the planet suffered a massive climate change, and the native species either died out over fighting for resources, or were wiped out by the Mandalorians, but Mandalorian History records show no mention of the planet.
Around the end of the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War, displaced Amaran refugees discovered the world, which was shockingly close to Mandalorian space. The Senate, however, at the time believing the Mandalorians to be well put out of a fight, allowed the colonists to settle the planet. After settling, the Amarans soon learned of the hardships gripping the planet, but managed to overcome them through luck, perseverance, or both.
Soon, the planet became a beacon and safe-haven for refugees from the previous wars looking to find a new home. Many Telosians, among them Humans and Duros, also settled the world, and Qweztoc soon experienced a period of economic growth, and even the Hutts became interested, setting up operations on the world. Sadly for the people of Qweztoc, this would not last.
Around 100 years ago, the planet had been largely left alone by the Republic, and the people of the world had set up their own government in it's place. This wasn't without flaws, though, as a group of extremists, known as the Yininian, took political power, usurping the traditional King and Queen of the world, sparking the intense civil war which still grips the planet. The Loyalists have fought a brutal war against the Yininian for years, largely being left alone. However, as the Hutts began to throw in their lot against the Loyalists, the Loyalists have begun to appeal for outside help, mostly Mercenaries.
