Name: Zarchas, Lord of the Sith, Lord Silence
Race: Anzat
Age: 650
Height: 6'3
Weight: 184 lbs
Appearance:
Zarchas is a menacing figure to behold; not necessarily due to his height but because of his attire. Zarchas is almost an embodiment of a shadow; he wears a large and loose zeyd-cloth robe that distorts the natural shape of his tall and muscular body. Underneath his robes he wears a close-fitting metal bodysuit, his hands are covered by a pair of metal dueling gloves and his feet and lower legs are shrouded in tall metal boots that reach his knees. Completely covering his face is a black mask with a thin tinted visor for viewing. His body is muscular and lean, though the corruption of the Dark side has worn away at his body for centuries. His eyes are a sulfuric yellow, ringed in a bright red. Almost all of the veins on his body show through the skin, a sickeningly dark purple. His body has been slowly drained over the countless years though it is never seen from beneath his shadowy cloak. At his left side hidden underneath his robes is the lightsaber that he has used for centuries, though it is covered well it is still within reach should it be needed.
Personality:
Before his corruption by the Dark side Zarchas was a compassionate and joyful boy; though it has been over 600 years since he could be described as anything close to joyful. He no longer has compassion or sympathy for living things; he only uses other for power and his own selfish gain. It remains to be seen whether or not that compassionate boy is still down there, buried beneath the centuries of corruption and lust for power. Zarchas does not speak, hence his Sith name being Lord Silence, and all those who once knew his soothing voice have passed into the Force long ago.

The Early Years and the Academy
Zarchas was born on the Outer Rim Planet, Malachor V; 4250 years before the Battle of Yavin and only shortly before the eruption of the Third Great Schism. Zarchas’s parents were both Anzati, and they were both Dark Jedi who had been exiled from the Jedi Order for their romantic involvement. They could both sense Zarchas’s force-sensitivity and they deposited him at the steps of Trayus Academy. They had loved their child, but they knew he could be raised to greatness in the right hands. Both of Zarchas’s parents were killed in the war, having returned to seek revenge against those who had banished them for their love. Zarchas was raised by one of the Masters at the Trayus Academy until he was of age to properly enroll and study the teachings of the Dark side with other students of his age. He was a rather joyful and happy child under the care of the Master, but that was quickly changed by the harsh treatment of him by the Masters at the Academy. Though this treatment took his innocence from him, it would help him become stronger and give him something to turn into anger and then power. Zarchas was a tall child and towered over most of the other children in his class. His physical prowess helped him excel and the physical aspects of his training, specifically dueling. He became very proficient with a dueling blade and was able to hold his own against older students. He soon became the favorite of his Master and received private one-on-one training sessions to enhance his dueling capabilities and learn the secrets of how to beat his fellow classmates. Over the years of training, only a blink of an eye in the life of an Anzat, he became powerful; learning how to properly use the Force allowed him to do many things that he had only heard about as if they were legends, he could levitate objects with his mind, foresee the moves of his opponent in a duel, even use his mind to trick other students. Of course Anzat already had the natural telepathic ability similar to a mind trick, but using the Force enhanced his already powerful ability; he could even go so far as to use his mind to Force a less powerful opponent to drop his weapon in the midst of battle. Many more years passed in the Academy as Zarchas and the other students became skilled Force users and duelists, it had only felt like a few months to Zarchas who couldn’t believe how large his classmates had become, Zarchas was only around five and a half feet tall, still not yet reaching puberty.
It had been over 16 years since his parents had left him at the door of the Academy, he was sure that they would have been proud if they had lived long enough to see him come so far. He finally created his first lightsaber at the beginning of his 17th year in the Academy, though it was not intricately carved and did not have a rare and exotic crystal, it was something he could call his own. Using a lightsaber was a foreign feeling compared to the nicely weighted training saber he had mastered over the years, he had to use the Force to see where the tip of the weightless blade was at any given time; he also learned to create a Force Barrier while dueling so his opponent could not use the Force on him while they dueled. As he had excelled with the training saber, he also did so with the lightsaber. Though it was an odd feeling in the beginning he had quickly caught the hang of it, shortly becoming one of the best duelists in the Academy and the best in his class. He excelled in Shii-cho and later learned Makashi and Soresu; he was known around the Academy as the “Invincible Marksman” which referred to his accuracy and skill with Makashi and his ability to parry and deflect almost any hit through his use of Soresu. But as quickly as the fame and prestige had come, it vanished; though Zarchas was 20 and in good shape, he was an Anzat and Anzat reach puberty at the ripe young age of 100 standard years, and though he could hold his own against his classmates with his skill he was physically outmatched. With the advice of his Master, who had become a close friend, he retired from dueling and resided to the library and archives of the Academy to study and learn more about the philosophy of the Force until he could reach puberty and his full physical potential. Zarchas’s previous Master referred him to another, one more adept in the ways of the Force. Zarchas learned much from him over the following years, even after he graduated from the Academy and became a Dark Jedi Knight. Zarchas formed a close bond with his new Master, always learning new things about the Force and the many ways it could be used; Zarchas showed great interest in the philosophy of the Force and decided to specialize as a Prophet. Zarchas learned many Force techniques from his new Master but he excelled the most in the destructive abilities; his Force lightning appeared to have a black hue when he used it, as though he was shooting darkness from his fingertips, he also proved very adept in using the Force to drain the Force energy of living things. When he was not learning new Force abilities or perfecting those he already knew, he was studying. The library of the Academy contained vast amounts of knowledge and Zarchas was sure he had already read at least half of it.
The Natural Cycle
Decades had passed since his graduation from the Academy, and yet Zarchas still only had the physique of a teenager; luckily for him the Force does not discriminate, he constantly refined his abilities in private and learned new things from his Master who was slowly succumbing to his age, which had been unnaturally prolonged through his extensive use of the Dark side. Zarchas tried over the years to keep his Force alignment as neutral as possible to prolong his ability to study the Force without being drawn to the Dark side. It was hard but it became increasingly difficult as the Academy slowly became a center of the Dark side energy on Malachor V. Zarchas was a youthful 75 when he killed his Master, he had been asked by the Council of the Academy to deal with his Master who had become increasingly unstable due to his extreme old age; though his Master had taught him almost everything he knew about the Force, Zarchas had been promised his Master’s rank and position as the Head Librarian of the Academy’s vast archives. His Master was once strong in the Force, but his old age and insanity had caused him to lose touch with reality and thus he was an easy kill for Zarchas who used the Force to drain his Master of his Force energy, leaving his old Master’s wrinkly body slumped over the pile of books he was trying to ignite with his mind. Zarchas did not feel guilt or regret for destroying his Master, his long time at the Academy had left him desensitized to power grabs, he viewed it as a part of life, part of the natural cycle. Zarchas later took an Acolyte as his Apprentice and shared his knowledge of the Force with the young Acolyte, grooming him to become the new librarian when Zarchas had moved on, though Zarchas did not teach his apprentice many dueling or saber skills, the Force abilities he shared were enough to make his apprentice a force to be reckoned with.
The Duelist
His training as a child was only a distant memory once Zarchas reached 100 standard years of age. Though the study and philosophy of the Force had been his whole life for over 70 years, he still wished to return to dueling which was his biggest passion when he was still at an age where he could stand a chance against others his age. But by reaching 100 he was finally in the grips of the mysterious phase of life known as “puberty.” It was not as bad as he had expected and over the next decade he became what he had always fantasized about, tall. His previously thin frame filled out with muscles and he grew to a towering six feet and three inches. He would be unrecognizable had any old friends seen him. He took up lightsaber skills again and spent countless hours and days practicing and refining the old arts that he had not practiced in almost a century. Though lightsaber dueling was influenced majorly by the Force use on both sides, Zarchas felt a new power behind his attacks that he had previously lacked. He practiced for weeks on end to stand a chance in the annual Master’s Tournament.
His practicing had paid off and he won the Tournament without being hit or put on the retreat a single time. His skills shocked everyone in the Academy; there was no longer any living person that had been alive to see Zarchas’s skill when he was still an apprentice. Zarchas became an apprentice to the most renowned dueling Master in the Academy and began learning more advanced dueling techniques to make him even more of an unbeatable opponent in the ring. Over the span of more than a decade Zarchas was rigorously taught Juyo; at first he had not been ready for it, having never experienced anyone practicing it before, but by the time his training had finished he had become very adept in its practice, though he could not defeat his master through its use alone, it could influence their duels greatly. Zarchas was then trained in Shien and Djem So along with their backhanded variants; he also refined his old dueling techniques. Zarchas was finally able to defeat his Master in a duel in front of the Academy, claiming his place as the Duel Master of the Academy.
The Search
Shortly after becoming the Duel Master of the Academy, Zarchas was sent to Coruscant to search for more force-sensitives to join the Academy as the number of students was dwindling. Zarchas was given a ship and credits to be able to complete his mission. He purchased an apartment in the lower levels of Galactic City, a particularly bad area. He was forced to use Force concealment to mask his Dark aura from any Jedi that he might encounter. He purchased a loose set of robes that were large enough to sufficiently cover his lightsaber, but dark enough so that he could move through the shadows of the Coruscant underworld. For a couple weeks his search was unsuccessful, it appeared to him that all of the Force-sensitives had been taken by the Jedi when they were young. He decided to take his search to the lowest and most crime-ridden areas of Galactic City in hopes of finding a child that had not been born in a Republic hospital, and thus did not receive a midi-chlorian count test. Over the next few days he searched many stores and bars in the lowest levels, he also hung around the cheapest apartments in hope of sensing someone that was sensitive in the Force. For a few weeks he searched up and down the lowest levels of the city, narrowly avoiding a few potential muggings and attacks by using his telepathy. Finally he found a young human child; Zarchas could sense that the child was Force-sensitive. Zarchas confronted the child’s parents and used a mind trick on them to allow him to take their child to the Jedi Temple. Rather than do that, of course, he arranged for the child to be smuggled back to the Academy on Malachor V. He then returned to his search for more Force-sensitives.
The Battle of Coruscant
Zarchas had only been away from Malachor V four years when the Great Sith War began, he was on Coruscant during the first Battle of Coruscant. It was a great surprise, not only to Zarchas but to the whole of Coruscant. It was believed by many that the Sith were going to Kemplex IX, but that was only a distraction. The Mandalorian forces led by Mandalore the Indomitable hit the planet hard, capturing strategic positions; but the Republic forces were rallied by the Jedi and fought off the Mandalorian attack. Zarchas had been in the lower levels of Coruscant near the Jedi Temple when the attack commenced. He saw an opportunity to kidnap younglings from the temple, he could sneak in during all of the commotion and pass for a Jedi and kidnap a group of younglings, but he could see that it might be too dangerous. He was on his way to evacuate the area when he was caught in between a group of Jedi and Mandalorians; he drew his lightsaber and faced the Jedi, his lightsaber being red led the Mandalorians to believe he was on their side. He quickly assisted the group of Mandalorians with killing the small group of Jedi on his way out of the area. He rushed back to the safety of his apartment and waited out the rest of the attack, the Sith forces led by Ulic Qel-Droma were defeated, the Republic was victorious.

Work in Progress
The Trap
Zarchas had been caught up in his newfound fame and made himself a target for all of the powerful Masters in the Academy as he was now seen as a threat by them. For a few years life was relatively uneventful for Zarchas but the members of the Academy Council were secretly planning his downfall. Zarchas had been trained long ago to be able to predict and foresee the future and he usually practiced it during meditation, but the growing presence of Dark side energy at the Academy distracted him from seeing the plotting happening in the darkest depths of the Academy. 4130 BBY was the climax of the plot against Zarchas; early that year he was called privately into the depths of the Academy to meet with the Council, unbeknownst to Zarchas the Council would try to kill him that day. At the meeting with the Council they had drawn lightsabers and announced their intentions, it would be twelve Masters of the Force against Zarchas. Zarchas was able to kill three of the Council members as they were forced to attack only a few at a time due to the layout of the Council chambers; he used Soresu and Force lightning to defend against the rest of the Council members but without the ability to kill the rest of them he used his telekinetic abilities to push over a section of the area, knocking it down into the abyss below. The toppling section pulled more along with it than Zarchas planned and it took him and three of the Council members into the dark depths below with it.
The impact killed the three Council members because it took them by surprise; Zarchas was able to survive by using the Force to lessen his impact along with the soft cushion that the three men provided. He knew that the surviving Council members may come looking for him so he channeled his Force energy and dissipated it, removing his Force aura and rendering him invisible to any detection of him through the Force. Underneath the Council area was a large cavernous area that had not been touched in centuries. Zarchas was able to drain the ambient Force energy from the three dead men that had fallen with him, allowing him to recuperate from the battle that had nearly taken his life. None of the surviving members of the Council came looking for Zarchas, but at the time there was no possible way for him to escape from the depths underneath the Academy. He soon found that the rubble from the battle had covered an entrance to a cave network, upon exploration he discovered that it was a structure similar to the Academy, but older and in great disrepair from being buried under the Academy for what appeared to by thousands of years; Zarchas could sense that the Dark side of the Force was strong in the structure.
The Dark Side
Zarchas had discovered the source and center of the growing mass of Dark side energy on Malachor V. Something happened to Zarchas while he was inside the old structure, something that would change him forever. The Dark side energy that lurked inside of the lost temple corrupted and took control of Zarchas, turning him into an abomination of the Dark side. The power in the temple made Zarchas relive his worst nightmares, over, and over as it slowly drove him insane; but what he didn’t know was that through the entire time he was inside the temple he had been in a Dark side induced hibernation. In the real world he was simply lying on the cold stone floor of the temple, but in the dream world he was constantly facing his worst fears; he was abandoned by his parents as a baby, over and over, he was killed by the Council hundreds of times, he went through his life at the Academy countless times failing at every turn and facing the wrath of his long dead parents. In the old temple, the Dark side took control of Zarchas; it made him more powerful, but it also changed him and corrupted him. he once was a lover of academics and learning, but now he despised all of those things that he once cared about. His skin grew loose as if he aged a thousand years, his eyes turned yellow, his hair grayed.
The Awakening
It was not until the year 3640 BBY, over four centuries later, that Zarchas was awakened; he was awakened by a team of surveyors investigating a small sign of life in the remains of Malachor V. The surveyors brought him to their ship and asked him questions concerning the temple and his lightsaber. Zarchas saw that the environment was different than when he entered the temple, the entire planet had been destroyed and the old temple he was in was inside of a large chunk of rock. The surveyors tried to speak to him but Zarchas discovered that he could not speak; instead of speaking he was able to telepathically send his thoughts and responses into their minds. He felt a strong urge to kill the surveyors, which he did after learning all he could of what had happened to his planet and what had happened while he was in the temple. Malachor V had been destroyed by the Mass Shadow Generator during a war. He absorbed the Force energy from the survey team and blacked out into another Dark side induced hibernation; he experienced visions of a dry planet with a large temple and a great concentration of Dark side energy, Korriban. Through his Dark sleep he was continually tormented with terrible visions of his parents, and nightmares about previous events in his life. He experienced realistic dreams of killing his Master, but instead being killed by him. The Darkness took the will to live out of Zarchas, and corrupted him further.
The Sith
Nearly forty years later Zarchas fell out of the hibernation. The survey ship was still nearby and he used it to fly to Korriban. He was able to find the location of Korriban by using the computers onboard the ship to locate a planet similar to the one he had dreamt of. Zarchas had felt like a completely different person when he was reawakened by the survey team, but through draining their Force energy he began to feel normal again and he became less physically drained. Zarchas arrived on Korriban and located the Sith Academy. He joined the Academy, though his telepathic communication drew unwanted attention to him. He rapidly became the star student, as he had already done all of the same things previously at Trayus Academy on Malachor V. A Sith Lord, Lord Bachus, paid him a lot of attention and became his Master, taking him out of the Academy’s courses early. Zarchas had purposely restricted his own abilities and Dark side aura while in the Academy to not make others aware that he was actually already a Dark Jedi Master. Zarchas’s Master had not even realized Zarchas’s true skill until it was too late. In a tournament in the Academy Zarchas faced off against his Master and unleashed his true abilities, easily killing his Master in front of a large crowd of spectators made up of other students and Lords. Rather than attempt to punish Zarchas, the Lords of the Academy decided to make Zarchas a Lord of the Sith as they could see that he would be a great asset to the Sith Order. Zarchas was renamed Lord Silence in homage to him having never spoken while in the Academy.
Along with his new title Zarchas was given his old Master’s quarters, inside Zarchas found an ancient set of equipment, robes, a body suit, a mask, and a pair of gauntlets and boots; he replaced his old attire with the newly found wardrobe. Along with the new wardrobe Zarchas also found his Master’s lightsaber which he replaced his own with, he preferred the curved-hilt lightsaber as it gave his attacks new angles. Zarchas soon afterwards took on his own apprentice, a Zabrak named Praz. Praz proved to be a very adept duelist, much like Zarchas when he was younger. Zarchas killed Praz in a duel after the Zabrak had foolishly challenged him for his title. With Zarchas’s new title came power, and Zarchas felt a new hunger for it. A hunger that felt… natural. In the time after Praz, Zarchas took on another apprentice, a Kel Dor named Kor; Kor showed great promise in the dueling ring and Zarchas took him as an apprentice to teach him the ways of the Dark side, and the ways of the duel. Kor had quickly advanced with Zarchas's teachings, but unfortunately the young Kel Dor was murdered in his sleep by another acolyte who had viewed him as a threat.
RP Sample:
Zarchas sat in the shadows of his dark chambers inside the Sith Academy; he concentrated his Dark side energy as he meditated. His Dark aura made his chambers feel as though they were filled with fire. Zarchas felt drained, the same feeling he had felt after being reawakened on the ruined Malachor V. He felt a presence moving outside the door of his chamber, he stood up as the figure entered. It was his apprentice, Praz. The look on Praz’s face was a mixture of determination and fear as he cleared the lump in his throat and spoke.
“Master, I wish to challenge you for your… title.” He squeezed out; he seemed as if he had regretted saying it.
Zarchas focused on the mind of the young Zabrak, he could sense the fear inside of him. He spoke into his mind and accepted the duel. Zarchas removed his saber from his waist and activated it, as did Praz. They circled each other, both sizing up the other. Praz was the first one to strike, with a yell and an overhead slash he slammed into the defense of Zarchas and the attack was easily thrown aside. Praz repeated his attacks, trying to use other angles to get through Zarchas’s defenses, but the Master of Soresu proved that his defense was impenetrable. Praz slowly lost his energy, even with adrenaline flowing through him. Zarchas could sense his opponent weakening and he let out a flow of black lightning out of his left hand, striking Praz and knocking his weapon out of his hand. Zarchas deactivated his saber and approached Praz, shocking him once every few steps. Praz’s will to live was slowly fading as the black smoke came off of his body, he screamed out with every shock. Zarchas stopped a few steps from Praz who was lying on the floor in great pain. He focused in on his mind, only to taunt him before killing him.
“My foolish apprentice, you have failed. And now, you will die.” Zarchas whispered directly into the Zabrak’s mind, the words echoed inside of Praz’s head, repeatedly taunting him.
Zarchas held his hands out at the Zabrak and pointed his fingers at him, aiming his strike. With a great power he unleashed a crisp pink lightning that, rather than shock, coiled around Praz’s failing body; it drained the Force energy from him shortly leaving him as a wrinkled and smoking husk on the floor of Zarchas’s chambers. Zarchas felt refreshed as his apprentice's energy rushed over him, relieving him of his hunger. For a time.

Setting -
Lord Silence stood silently in front of the opening into the Tomb of Marka Ragnos. His eyes opened as he heard someone approaching. It was his arch-rival in the Academy, Lord Raku. Raku’s loose robes fell like feathers to the ground, kicking up the dusty red-brown dirt of Korriban. He drew his lightsaber; the moonlight glinted off of the hilt as he spun it around his hand. Silence drew his saber as well, the new electrum-plating made it shine like a star in the dark night. They activated their lightsabers simultaneously.
“You were foolish to challenge me, Silence.” Raku said sharply as he paced in front of Lord Silence.
Lord Silence performed a flourish with his lightsaber and flawlessly executed the Makashi dueling salute. He stood his ground. Silence looked into Raku’s mind; he could feel his anger and determination rushing around his brain like a river.
“Show me the error of my ways, Raku.” Lord Silence projected into his mind, Raku’s name echoed and bounced around the walls of his mind.
Raku charged forward and stabbed at Silence, who deflected it with a sweeping parry and countered with a downward slash in the opposite direction. They began circling each other exchanging slashes and parries in a flurry of red. Silence felt his opponent becoming stronger. He performed an upwards sweep with his lightsaber, catching Raku off-guard and nearly knocked the saber from his hand. Raku smiled and let out a yell as he smashed in an overhead strike on Silence. Silence blocked the strike and locked his saber with Raku’s; they circled around each other closely, both pushing on the other. Silence could feel Raku’s will weakening and sensed an opening. He pulled back from the saber lock and stabbed towards Raku’s stomach, Raku dodged to the side as Silence spun around and struck at Raku’s side with a slash. He could tell Raku was expending his Force energy to the breaking point, Silence did not let up his attacks. Constant overhead slashes morphing into upwards sweeps brought down upon Raku’s defenses weakened him; Raku was spending more of his Force energy blocking the attacks than upholding his Force barrier. Silence could sense this and jumped back, holding out one hand with fingers out.
Crisp black lightning shocked forth and connected with Raku’s lightsaber, Silence could not stop now; he continued the assault of electricity until it shorted out Raku’s lightsaber. Raku’s face instantly turned from a losing determination to one of fear. Silence continued shocking Raku and the electricity brought him to his knees, and then to the ground. Silence let up the attack slightly, if only to breathe in the black smoke coming off of Raku’s body. Raku screamed out in pain as he began to spasm and have convulsions, his nervous system was being overridden by the lightning coming from Silence. Silence finally halted the lightning. He put his lightsaber back onto his belt and slowly to where Raku was lying and looked into his mind. He felt his fear and his pain. Silence thought that if he was going to kill his enemy, then he should enjoy it.
“You are a failure.” Silence echoed into Raku’s mind, emulating the voice of Raku’s father.
Silence finally had enough and decided to end Raku’s suffering. He held out one hand and used the Force to reach out and grab Raku by the neck. He levitated him into the air and began to squeeze the life out of him. After a few seconds Raku went limp and Silence could feel the lack of life in his empty body. He released him and Raku’s body fell to the ground, his flesh had been blackened and his dueling robes were in burnt tatters. Silence looked at Raku’s corpse with pity, and then walked back into the tomb; leaving him as a reminder.

Master Taule Borran
