Gaven is most often confused for a girl by first glance, but he is male.
Personality:
Gaven is described as quiet and shy by most, but it's not shyness that keeps him quiet. It's more of a lack of interest in others that prompts him to keep to himself. He rarely finds other people interesting and tries his best to avoid conversations with people he finds boring. Of course he finds the majority of people boring especially those that can only recite the pros and cons of lightsaber forms. His primary interest in in the pursuit of knowledge and the application of it. He is more at home and far more content in a library than at a cantina or at a social gathering with his peers. This behavior translates into diligence and dedication to the philosophical pursuits of the jedi. In reality his dedication to the code isn't as strong as many seem to think. He's good at reciting the words, but his faith in the code has weakened after the loss of his master.
He doesn't attach often to people and thus when he does they become very important parts of his life. The loss of these rare individuals has a very strong and lasting impact on him. These rare people are able to coax a smile out of him, get a genuine laugh out of him. Others often describe him as emotionally vacant, but these people see the loving and kind hearted person that exists underneath. He does prefer the company of those who he views as intelligent and feels he can learn from, but that doesn't mean he wishes anything ill on those he views as lacking intelligence. They still need to be protected in his mind and he will do all that's in his power to do so. The code is important to him as well as aiding others, but he does believe that sometimes the code is not applicable to a situation. He is of the belief that there are times when tactics one normally wouldn't partake in must be taken advantage of for the greater good. He is less concerned with the black and white of good and evil and more about the gray area of the greater good. This personality trait often makes him sound more radical than he is. It has also caused friction between him and other jedi because he often considers the possible gain from a course of action that isn't normal for a jedi. This radical thinking does come with limitations. He believes violence should be avoided at all cost and thinks that manipulation and deceit may need to be called on at times to prevent violence. However the idea of murder to prevent violence is a far more case by case basis to him. It is hard for him to justify killing someone and because of this is viewed as a pacifists and also one of his more conservative and redeeming qualities. His understanding of necessity for the greater good does not take away from his compassionate nature. Gaven wants to do his best to help those around him and make a difference in the universe. He dedicates his life to the belief that he'll be able to protect at least one person from harm or save at least one person. This is what drives him every day and it's no surprise that when he encounters someone suffering he offers what little aide he can offer regardless of the cost to himself.
Intelligence is one of the most important things to Gaven, but so is nature. Due to his Sylphe ancestry he has a strong connection to nature and often takes time to meditate in garden like areas so that he may center himself. He puts great importance on meditation and finds it the only way he can maintain balance and order in his life. Even still scientific thought are important to him. He often finds himself intrigued by the idea of combining science with the force. This desire has led to much research into the force and a deepened connection to nature as well as the possibilities it represents. This obsession with endless possibilities has created a knack for witty remarks and sometimes inappropriate analysis of people and situations. A very un Jedi like trait he is guilty of making judgmental analysis of people that are heavily focused on their weaknesses rather than their strength. Having lost his father to the dangers of the order he made the decision, early on, that he would do his best to keep himself alive for his mother's sake. This includes preemptively identifying a person's strength and weaknesses.
The second most important thing to Gaven is family, but his definition of that is different than most. His idea of family are people that are close to him and that he can't live without. His mother was once a part of that group, but after being torn from his home he has little to no contact with her. Prior to his removal from the home he was exceptionally close to his mother and considered her the only person he had any interest in spending time with. His removal from the home did feel him with some contempt for the ways of the order. For the most part he is dedicated to the code, but he finds the removal of a child from their family a barbaric and cruel action. Normally outspoken Gaven is intelligent enough not to voice this particular concern. He follows the code to the best of his ability, but it doesn't mean he doesn't question. He spends a lot of his time questioning the world around him so that he can discover new mysteries and learn from them.
There are hidden nuances to Gaven that very few people know. Many confuse Gaven for a woman and he pretends it bothers him. He feigns anger or annoyance when someone refers to him as a girl, but in reality that's not the case. He has a preference for feminine things and has little interest in living his life from a masculine perspective. However he lives within the gender assigned to him and hides his bitterness pertaining to it. He does his best to hide his longing to be a part of the opposite gender because he fears it will draw unwanted attention to voice those desires. He also fears that the order will have him removed from the order if they find out his strange fascination with a gender other than his own, more so than they would be about a sexual attraction to the opposite sex.

She was pregnant from their union and kept the father secret. Gaven found out who his father was before he was taken in by the order.)
He intends to follow in his father's footsteps and become a Jedi Shadow or Jedi Watchmen. Does have an interest in being a Jedi Healer, Jedi Archivist, or Jedi Historian.
