Phe'lan can have a rough appearance at first glance, his chiseled facial features betraying any preconceptions of what should have been a privileged youth, and even now from some of his current lifestyle choices. To those who know him or work under him however, they know a completely different Phe'lan.
His rough appearance can quickly change when in a suit and he cracks a smile, catching those who don't know him by surprise by how warm and welcoming he can be.
Phe'lan is hardly ever seen without some form of eye ware, finding datapads much to inconvenient, his eye ware serves as a heads up display linked to a wrist pad he always has on his left forearm, whether he is wearing his formal business attire acting as head of his company, or something less classy in a questionable cantina. He also almost always has a small shield generator on his belt or on his upper arm.
Ph'elan also doesn't hide the prosthetic of his left hand. A prosthetic built by his own company it mostly looks like a dark grey glove with rubber like metal muscle fibers around it, quite contrary from majority of current prosthetic that while functional, look like droid claws.
Personality: The expression, it is better to sit quietly and let everyone assume your an idiot, than it is to open your mouth and prove them right applies perfectly to Phe'lan, though in a different sense.
Far from a bumbling idiot, Phe'lan is too intelligent, sometimes for his own good, couple with his limited social interaction with others and he can be a bit awkward to be around. Though overly warm and friendly, he sometimes says things that are off the wall, or humorous at the wrong times.
This can sometimes stem from the fact he doesn't always get enough sleep, choosing to instead stay up and work, or finish out his newest designs.
What most people don't know, is his outgoing humor also hides his innate distrust for most people. It isn't that he dislikes people in general or believes all people to be inherently bad, but growing up and having to spend several years on Nar Shadaa, he just understands that many look out for themselves first, and others second.
From this, many have heard his motto:
"Keeping honest people honest."
His love for machines stems from this, and he can always be seen accompanied by one of his designs. This way, his droids can always handle his feelings of possible distrust of others for him.
For those who have worked with him, or work under him, will find that he puts much effort into being a fair and just employer, giving all the benefits that he feels should be standard when employed, though few companies hardly give.
While outgoing and warm most of the time, Phe'lan has caught many who abuse his warmth and understanding by surprise. Those mistakenly judging his patience for someone who is a pushover quickly find themselves facing a cunning version of the scary man he first appears to be.
