Planet Name: Exford station
Planet Type: O'Neill Cylinder inside an armored shell
Habitable: Yes, at least the parts not exposed to vacuum
System: Wild Space (Star: Exford Prime)
Terrain Overview: Urban
Notable Geographic Features: Well, there is the massive central column that provides sunlight for the inhabitants. There's also the giant armored shell packed with armor, sensors, shield generators and weapons in increasing order.
And then there's the defensive grid.
Capital City:
Exford City
Inside the massive central cylinder is Exford City, home to approximately 2 million inhabitants and counting. It is the location of the UTSC headquarters and is arguably the most heavily defended city in the known universe with more firepower per capita than some nations have total. The entire city is a fortress with self-sustaining shelters in case the main cylinder is breached and the civilian populace is armed. In fact, there are literally more guns than there are people to wield them.
It's populace is sustained by massive vertical greenhouses and the agricultural outputs of four converted Traveler-class colony ships anchored to the station. In a pinch, the Travelers can act as escape craft should the entirety of the station need to evacuate for any reason. Two Travelers also act as industrial ships, keeping the city supplied with advanced technology constructed from the materials mined from the remains of Exford.
Local law enforcement is handled by the military personnel stationed there as being stationed there is considered "soft duty" and there is only so much paperwork that the soldiers can do before they run out and need to find a way to occupy their time. The city's population of droids are mostly employed either by the military police, or by the city's government either as law enforcement, scientific personnel, or as cyber-security personnel keeping the station defensive grid safe from bugs, hackers, and otherwise bad people. In order to bring down or subvert the defensive grid from the inside, any inside man would need to exterminate at least 800 of the droids constantly monitoring the Quantum core.
Major cities: N/A
Sentient species: Terroare mostly. There are a few of other races employed by the PMCs, O'Neil Industries, Terroare Aero-Space Corporation, and Quantum Vision Works.
Non-Sentient species of note: specimens imported for testing purposes. The most populous one would Nerfs which are kept around for food.
History: About 200 years ago, Suzuki Fleet Command along with Jericho Rapid Response and Fuyuzuki Arbitration Combat Entity were looking for a permanent headquarters. Up until that point, they were content to simply use one of the auxiliary government sections of their Traveler-class ships as headquarters but at some point, they and the United Terroare Sector Command would need a fortified fallback position in case of a crisis. Even though the Sith were forgiven, the exterminatus of the entire Terroare sector was still not forgotten and with a total active military force of around a billion personnel, the sector was still too weak to push back a determined offensive by one of the major powers. What better place to establish the final hope for the Terroare than their former glory. The corpse of their home would defend them once more.
Over 50 years, millions of people labored away, using all the material resources in the asteroid belt that was once Exford to construct a battle-station of epic proportions. Materials, equipment and weapons were shipped in from all across the sector and even imported from elsewhere to make it all but unassailable. Even after the station was completed, the Terrans kept building up the defensive grid even while Exford City sprung up inside the massive interior of the cylindrical shell. At one point, building up the defensive grid consumed 20% of all systems produced by the Terroare. The good thing is, Exford station does not need to produce that much energy to run the weapons, rather, it only needs to provide the giant quantum computing core in the center of the city that coordinates all of the weapons.
