Name: Xela Foxwind
Race: Human
Age: 22
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 200lbs
Appearance:
Xela is a human that stands at 5'11" and weighs 200 pounds, giving him a larger frame than most other humans, which causes other non-Jedi to be surprised that his skill set lies in diplomacy and knowledge, rather than the art of combat. His Jedi robes perfectly accentuate his broad shoulders, but easily hide how muscular his body is.
Xela's hair is a golden brown in a very prim and proper side-fashioned style, ever the diplomatic scholar. Xela's square jawline is framed with a well trimmed scruff, perfectly walking that line between diplomat and warrior.
His eyes are a piercing green, almost as green as the blades of his two lightsabers. People find that his eyes have a way of piercing through their soul, allowing them to lower their defenses around them, which can serve as an aid when discussing treaties between two parties.
Xela carries himself with a very confident posture, and always seems to glide along the floor naturally. The way that Xela carries himself has been known to inspire loyalty and admiration in those around him.
Xela wears a off-white inner tunic under a dark-brown outer tunic. He wears an off-white obi with a brown utility belt. Xela also wears off-white pants with brown leather boots that go up to his knees. His robes are a dark-brown wool with a large hood, adorned with light-brown floral patterns around the sleeves, hood hem, and down the seams.
Personality:
In his time as a padawan, Xela was a very pompous and smug individual. He was selected for apprenticeship at an age before many other younglings, because it was discovered that he had an attunement to the Force unlike most other younglings his own age. Being trained as a Jedi Consular, he came to believe that he was smarter, wiser, and overall better than every other padawan in their apprenticeship. That all changed when he and another padawan were doing a group exercise. The other padawan kept executing the drill incorrectly, causing Xela to berate her with insults, until his master intervened, chastising him for his overconfidence.
Now, Xela is a calm, cool, collected, and no longer considers himself everyones' superior. He now openly cooperates with other Jedi, and is more than willing to offer his words of wisdom. However, just because he is more than willing to offer words of wisdom, doesn't mean that he's quite adept at teaching or advising others. While his skills in diplomacy are adequate, Xela gets flustered when he tries to teach others; Xela mostly acts out of pure instinct with his connection to the Force and doesn't take into account what steps he took.
The only real negative emotions that Xela experiences are passion (infatuation) and fear, though he has made progress in controlling his fear. Xela was frequently in trouble with his teachers for taking fancies for other students of the opposite sex during his time as an apprentice. These relationships were never completely discouraged by his master, but Xela was always urged to understand how allowing himself to love could cloud his judgment. However, due to his young age, he is still prone to occasionally making rash decisions, as is any other 22-year old human.
As his master did, Xela has a tendency to not do things the way the Jedi Council would like things done, which resulted in the council constantly scrutinizing Xela's every move.

Bio:
Xela was born on Dantooine, long before the new Sith Empire had even looked in the planets direction. It was discovered by nearby Jedi that Xela had had an unbelievable connection to the Force, even as an infant. However, his parents did not wish for him to live the life of a Jedi, and the Jedi respectfully honored Xela's parents' wishes. Xela's parents had originally planned on him growing up to become a farmer and takeover the family farm. However, that all changed one night, when raiders attaced Xela's home, looking for valuables to hock to local cartel thugs. These were no simple robbers. Xela's father, who was awoken by the family protocol droid, went down to the living quarters with his blaster, when he was fired upon. Alarmed by the sudden noise, Xela's mother ran down and attempted to fight back, before being killed. After the raiders had pillaged the house of all the valuables, including their protocol droid, they happened onto Xela, in his crib. By some twist of fate, they decided that they would leave the infant for dead, that they didn't need to sell the baby to a slaver. Afterwards, sensing a disturbance in the Force, the nearby Jedi Enclave came by and saw that the family, save Xela, had been murdered. They then took the child to raise him as one of their own.
At the age of 3, Xela began his Jedi training. In his time at the Jedi Enclave, Xela learned that he had an unusually strong connection to the Force, stronger than most other younglings at the Enclave. His progression was so remarkable, that he became a Padawan at the age of 10. He would soon meet his new master at the Jedi Temple on Corruscant.
Xela was greeted by his new master as soon as he stepped off the shuttle at the Corruscant Shuttle Port. His master was another human, a Jedi Master by the name of Kani Calti. He was an older man, you could see the gray in his beard and long hair. He was a wise Jedi Consular, among the wisest of the Jedi Order. Overall, Xela and Master Calti got along very well, two intellectuals that were able to connect very easily over their constant pursuit for knowledge and how to become more knowledgeable of the Force. However, while Xela and his master got along very well, it didn't mean that he wasn't tough on Xela, sometimes being overly critical of Xela in regards to his superior air. Xela also wasn't known for working well with others; he always believed himself better than every other Padawan in the Order for his remarkable knowledge of the Force. In one instance, Xela and another Padawan were supposed to cooperate and use the force simultaneously to form a barrier to deflect a training droids blaster, but the other Padawan couldn't adequately contribute, which resulted in Xela berating the other Padawan, completely demoralizing her in front of her master and other Padawans until his master intervened. Kani harshly scolded Xela, lecturing him about how he needed to treat everyone, no matter their skill, like equals and that, if his companions were not able to adequately contribute, then he had to makeup for them. This lesson stuck with Xela throughout his whole apprenticeship.
In his time at the Jedi Academy, Xela came to learn that he had had a knack for computers. He was very proficient with hacking, slicing, and being able to find whatever archival information he needed, even if it was restricted to anyone under Master-status. However, he didn't often pry into restricted information, but if he did, he was very thorough in erasing his tracks. Xela's master was also a master duelist, his favorite forms being Forms III and VI. Xela would watch his master in awe as he'd go through exercises, showing him the nuances of Soresu and Niman, the two forms that Xela took to almost instantly and easily. However, where Master Calti preferred one lightsaber, Xela preferred two; in his mind, two sabers meant a more impregnable defense, so Master Calti started teaching Xela how to affectively dual wield lightsabers. Xela also took to specializing in using the Force to heal and protect his comrades and also specialized in telekinetics. This way, Xela wouldn't be in the thick of the fighting, he'd be able to keep a safe distance with the use of the Force, where if an opponent came within arm's reach, his lightsaber skills would be meant to ensure his survival until a comrade came with assistance.
Growing up at the academy, Xela had heard stories about how a Jedi Knight, known as Revan, had gone off to fight in the Mandalorian Wars. What he found really perplexing, as did the entire Republic, was how Revan could leave the Republic a powerful Jedi Knight, and return a feared Sith Lord. It intrigued him, to wonder how a Jedi as great as Revan could fall to the Dark Side. Had the lust for battle overtaken Revan's sanity? Had desperation made him sell his soul to the devil? Or had he done and seen so many things that he could no longer tell what was good and what was evil? Xela highly doubted that a Jedi as great as Revan could have been simply seduced by the Dark Side. This also intrigued Xela because he personally found some hypocrisy with the Jedi Code and how they seemed aimed and determined to eradicate the Sith, all in the name of "bringing balance to the Force." It didn't make sense to him, how could there be balance if there was no darkness? Was it more of a personal thing, saying that each Jedi had to balance their light AND their darkness? Xela didn't know, but he was obsessed with Revan.
On the day of Xela's 22nd birthday, he and his master were assigned to aid and assist a Jedi distress beacon that had fired on the world of Dantooine. The day before Xela and his master left, Xela addressed his teacher with a question, noting that, from a particular point of view, the Jedi Code seemed kind of hypocritical, when speaking about bringing balance to the Force. Xela asked as to how it can truly be called balance when the Jedi seemed aimed and determined to eradicate the Sith. Kani then told Xela that he'd felt the same way after many years of seeing Jedi come and go, live and die and become one with the Force. The only words of wisdom that Kani could give Xela were that the Sith were truly evil, however, he felt that all Jedi needed to balance their light AND their darkness, if they had ever truly hoped to fully understand the Force and its mysterious ways. Xela was hardly to acquire any sleep that night, thinking about his discussion with his master.
Xela and Kani set off the next day, Xela needing to meditate desperately to make up for the lack of sleep. Sensing his student's fatigue, Kani had let Xela meditate and rest the whole way; he'd monitor the ships autopilot to Dantooine. Xela more than happily took his break. When Xela came to, their ship was hurtling towards the ground fast. Xela instantly jumped into the copilot seat and started to try and call out to the Force to try and level out their ship, or at least reduce the impact. Thankfully, Xela's Force abilities, and Kani's piloting, payed off and they managed to save the ship, with some minor hull damage. Xela and Kani would have to be posing as mercenaries to be able to slip in and out of crowds without drawing attention. However, their lightsabers were always close by.
Thankfully, aside from a few instances of Force Persuasion, Xela and Kani were able to make it from their ship to a deserted warehouse, where the beacon was signaling from. They had been informed that the Council had not sent any Jedi to Dantooine, so they were to investigate and report back, and to be ready for hostilities. Xela and Kani both pulled out their lightsabers, not igniting them, as they approached the entrance, Kani entering first with Xela right behind him, watching his flank. So far, Xela and Kani hadn't encountered any enemy resistance, but they kept vigilance. As the pair approached the sealed doors to the storage room, Xela and Kani could both tell that something was wrong. They could feel it in the Force. After a few minutes of fiddling with the door panel, Xela was finally able to get the door open, where a lone figure stood in the center of the room.
The Dark Jedi tossed aside his robes and took out his twin crimson sabers, the look of death about him. The pair did likewise, Kani igniting his green lightsaber as Xela switched his twin sabers on. Somehow, Xela knew that this foe wasn't interested in talking.
The Dark Jedi lunged at the two, his wide angles, and the highly acrobatic movements, implied that he specialized in Ataru, a form that typically had very little defensive capabilities. The Dark Jedi was instantly able to clue Xela out as the Padawan, and immediately set his sights on Xela. Right as the Sith landed from his initial lunge and swung at Xela, Xela had caught both of his lightsabers with his own, resulting in a lockup. Kani instantly stepped in with an overhead chop, the Sith jumping back, tucking his legs in a backflip, avoiding Kani's attack. The Sith launched one of his lightsabers in the pair's direction, using the flying saber as a distraction. His saber was flying at Kani and he was hoping that the old Jedi would parry with his one saber, which would leave him exposed to a fatal strike, assuming the young Padawan leapt to the side to avoid the flying saber.
Xela instantly knew what the Sith was planning and, instead of leaping to the side, jumped up in the air, still putting him in a position to strike at the Sith when Kani parried the Force-guided saber. Kani parried the lightsaber, leaving himself open for a fatal strike from the Sith, if not for Xela hurling a wave of Force energy down at the Sith. The Sith quickly aborted his attack and leapt to the side as Xela landed where the Sith would've been, had his strike landed on Kani. The Sith guided his lightsaber back to his hand, both sabers blazing. All of a sudden, the Sith used his Force Speed to end up behind Kani, ready to plunge his twin sabers into Kani's shoulders. Kani was able to parry the strike, but this Sith was fast and was able to snap off an almost instant counterattack, a spin kick straight to Kani's solar plexis. He then sent a wave of Dark Force energy flying at Kani, knocking him back into the wall, unconscious.
As Kani fell to the floor, it dawned on Xela, it was now him and the Sith, one-on-one. For once, Xela was afraid. The Sith breathed heavily, relishing the feeling of Xela's fear as it augmented the Sith's ability to use the Force. He then lunged at Xela, even faster than the first time. Xela was barely able to block the strike, and the one after that, and the one after that. Xela was physically, and emotionally, playing a game of catch-up, trying to keep up with the Sith as he hammered away at Xela's Soresu with his own Djem So. The main weakness with Soresu was that it facilitated survival over victory, and a Padawan wasn't able to use it well enough to stand against an aggressive Djem So user. At this rate, Xela would get outmatched, and he'd die. Xela was panicking, terrified of the thought of death.
All of a sudden, the universe froze. Xela was having an introspective moment, a gaze into his own soul. He was on his knees, with nothingness around him. Suddenly, he was greeted by visions of himself, lifeless on the floor. He then came face-to-face with himself within his own consciousness. "You're terrified!" his conscious said to him. "Use that fear...turn it to anger...turn that anger to hatred...turn that hatred to power...turn that power into victory!!!" his conscious urged, trying to draw him to the Dark Side. In response, Xela kept reciting the Jedi Code, namely the "There is no emotion; there is only peace" and "There is no passion; there is only serenity" lines. That's when Xela realized that his fear helped give him clarity about what he needed to do. He needed to accept his darkness, but not rely on it.
In that instant, Xela was in control of his fear and was using it to give clarity and focus. All of a sudden, the Sith didn't seem to be as powerful, his power waning as Xela's fear became under control. Xela then went on the offensive.
Right as Xela blocked the Sith's twin sabers, he unleashed a huge wave of Force energy, sending the Sith flying back. However, the Sith recovered in midair and lunged at Xela again; this time, HE was the one afraid. Xela kept parrying each of the Sith's attacks effortlessly, feeling the Force flow through him, using him as an extension of its will. The two twin-saber duelists kept going back and forth, parrying each other and not allowing an opening. Xela's Soresu allowed him to keep the Sith at bay with his motions being kept close to his body, conserving energy, waiting for an opening.
Finally, Xela found it. The Sith, angry and afraid, was going to put all his strength into a single overhead chop with both his sabers. Xela dodged the attack effortlessly, then countered with another huge wave of Force energy right into the sternum of the Sith, sending him flying back across the room and sending his sabers flying out of his hands. Xela then followed up with a Force Pull, pulling the Sith towards him, his sternum colliding with the sole of Xela's boot. Now on top of the Sith, lightsabers pointed at his throat, Xela demanded his forfeit. Knowing he had lost, the Sith surrendered in the interest of self-preservation, whatever it took to stay alive.
After taking the Sith's lightsabers and binding him, Xela went to check on his master; he was just fine. Afterwards, they both decided that it would be best to take the Sith to the Jedi Council and see what they would do with him. However, Xela and Kani both agreed that something about this encounter felt off, like this was planned.
Shortly after Xela and Master Calti returned to the Jedi Temple at Corruscant, Xela was appointed the rank of Jedi Knight, believing this fight with this Sith Apprentice served as an adequate trial for Xelafff. Master Calti went on to train another Padawan, and Xela now continues to learn about the Force as a Jedi Knight, and must now decide if, and when, he wants to take on an apprentice.

Xela groaned heavily as he and Master Calti made their way across the Jedi Temple courtyard. "Master Calti, must I really waste my time exercising my use and knowledge of the Force?" Xela asked, a hint of indignation in his voice. "We all know that I'm one of THE BEST Force-wielders in the Academy!" Xela groaned, Kani choosing to completely ignore his student's whining.
After another few minutes, Xela and Kani made their way into the Training Quarters, where they were greeted by a few other people. Primarily, another teacher/student pair, and several other pairs. He would be performing the exercise with a young Human girl, a couple years younger than him, named La'ria Kalto. Her master, a Twi'lek named Master Kalshbar, was standing by her side. "Good morning, Master Calti." Kalshbar said, greeting Kani and Xela in a very polite manner. "How are you and your Padawan?"
"Ah, Master Kalshbar, we are doing well." Kani said, returning the greeting. "I assume the same for you and your Padawan?"
"Why yes." Kalshbar said with a smile, as he beckoned his Padawan to join Xela.
La'ria nervously joined Xela. Everyone knew that, while La'ria was among the best Padawans with a lightsaber, she was very timid and wasn't one of the best when it came to harnessing the Force. "Um...hello, Xela." La'ria said nervously as she and Xela were addressed by their masters.
In Kalshbar's hand, was a training droid. "Today, Padawans, your exercise is to pool your strength together, and to make a barrier with the Force to deflect this droids blasters." Kalshbar said seriously as the droid left his hand, hovering around the two Padawans.
"Remember..." Kani said, stepping in before the Padawans got started. "You must be able to draw the Force from each other, and rely on each others' strength to form a barrier that can deflect anything that is thrown at it." Kani stated, allowing the droid to resume hovering around the two students.
"Make sure you hold up your end." Xela whispered to La'ria as he took a meditative stance. All Xela focused on, was his breathing, tuning out the slight whir of the droid hovering around them.
La'ria, on the other hand, was not having as much luck. her concentration kept getting broken when the droid would make a sudden movement, causing a slight distortion in the noise produced by the droid. This lack of concentration became obvious when the droid fired its first shot, nailing Xela right in the sternum.
"DAMN IT!!!" Xela shouted as he jumped back from the shock. "What the hell?!?" Xela yelled at the poor girl. "Come on! Get it right!" Xela yelled as he resumed his meditative stance, only to be blasted again in the stomach.
This time, Xela was angry. "What is wrong with you, you useless heap of Acklay Bait!!!" Xela shouted. "Why am I forced to cooperate with one who clearly can't use the Force as well as I can?!? You're useless!!!" Xela shouted before he was suddenly interrupted by his teacher.
"Xela!!!" Kani spoke sternly, snapping Xela to attention. "How dare you treat a peer in such a fashion?" Kani asked, disappointed in Xela. "You must never...EVER...speak to a comrade in such a way. It does not inspire camaraderie, nor loyalty." Kani said, continuing to scold Xela. "Remember Xela, do unto others, as you would have others do unto you." Kani said, making sure that his lesson stuck.
Xela was taken aback, shocked by the disappointment in his master's face; his master was never disappointed in him. Xela pondered on this for a minute. "Yes master, I understand." Xela said as he looked back at La'ria. "I'm sorry..." Xela said, disappointed in himself. "If you have a hard time with the task, I'll cover for you, and make sure you draw from me." Xela said as he stood next to La'ria, the droid returning to hover around the two students.
Focus...Xela thought to himself, transmitting his thoughts to La'ria. This time, Xela was putting out a larger density of Force energy, allowing La'ria to tap into his natural use of the Force. This time, when the droid fired, the barrier held true and defended the two students.
The two students jumped up in victory cheers, hugging each other in surprise, glad that they had managed to pass the test.
