Name: Evalin Theed
Race: Cathar
Age: 26
Height: 5'2”
Weight: 120 lbs
Eye Color: Hazel
Hair Color: Brown
Appearance: Evalin has predominately tan fur covering her body, with white fur covering her mouth, and torso. Her hair is roughly shoulder length, though usually kept in a short bun. She is of average height for a female Cathar, though she more than makes up for her height disadvantage with her skill and ferocity in combat. She tends to wear medium armor over her normal white robes, and has a simple white cloak she wears for diplomatic missions. Like most Jedi, she carries her lightsaber at her left hip, opposite her dominate hand. She also tends to wear boots with elevated heels, because she is a bit self conscious about just how small she is. Though initialy this proved a tad detrimental to her lightsaber forms, she eventually got used to the extra inch or so her heels had compared to the rest of her feet.
Personality: Evalin is a kind and caring individual, and loves spending hours in the Jedi archives, simply reading anything of interest, so that she can learn something new. However, in combat she's ferocious, using her natural agility and grace to perform intricate, deadly dances with her lightsaber. She is also very creative, especially when it comes to utilizing the Force. Where some might use it to throw their opponent backwards, Evalin will use it to simply throw someone's foot aside, causing them to misstep and give her an opening, or use it to deflect a blaster bolt or Force attack when she cannot reach or draw her lightsaber quickly enough to block the attack. Due to her combat prowess and desire for knowledge, she is considered a Jedi Sentinel, and frequently assists authorities on Coruscant with crimes of high profile or unusual nature. She is also prone to bouts of anxiety or paranoia, often causing her to think out every outcome she can imagine (within reason) prior to a mission. These bouts are rare, however, as she is normally very level headed, though she can be a bit withdrawn around people she hasn't met before.

Bio: Evalin and her twin brother Kriegen were born to a Cathar couple who lived on the streets of Coruscant. Unfortunately, their parents had no way to support them, so the twins were put up for adoption, in hopes that they could live a better life than that of their birth parents. Though they were fully intended to be adopted together, this was not the case. Kriegen was taken in by a human couple, Jaden and Annah Aurorus. Evalin was taken in by a different human couple, Adam and Jodine Theed. Unbeknownst to the Aurorus couple, however, Evalin had been discovered as Force-Sensitive following a blood test she received after being hospitalized.
Evalin was raised in the Jedi Temple until she turned six, when she was deemed ready to begin training with other younglings. At first, she struggled, more so than the other students, at least when it came to the physical aspects. She was smaller than the other younglings, and a little clumsy, too. When it came to the mental aspects, such as using the Force, or simply general knowledge, Evalin excelled. Whenever she wasn't in class, she was studying on her own, delving into whatever historical texts she could find and comprehend, jumping ahead of the other students by the time she was seven. Her instructors were continuously impressed by her knowledge, and quite enjoyed just how much Evalin desired to learn more. She always sought out her instructor if there was something she didn't quite understand, and even occasionally asked if she could borrow a tome from the Archives, though each time the request was denied, to her disappointment. She was also very friendly with the other younglings, though never particularly social.
Unfortunately, her combat skills were still lacking in comparison. Though not the poorest when it came to lightsaber training, she was certainly on the lower end of the class. Despite her above average intelligence, and good understanding of the Force (for a youngling), she still worried she might not be chosen as a Padawan when she became eligible. And that meant the Corps. The Corps were her biggest fear, after hearing about them from some of the older younglings up for selection to become a Padawan. She feared if she did not improve her physical skills, she'd be passed over for the other younglings, and forced to be an agriculturalist, or something of that nature. On top of that, her fear made her even more fearful that she would not be a good Jedi, as she was told early on that Jedi should not feel fear, and that fear was an attribute of the dark Side. She was certainly overthinking it, but still, it was a vicious cycle.
So she decided to spend a little less of her time studying, and more time practicing her martial arts and lightsaber skills on her own. As she did with her intellectual pursuits, she approached her instructor and asked if they could help her with her form, her footwork, whatever it was she was having trouble with, and slowly, she began to improve, but she still worried she was going to be sent to the Corps. Finally, the day came when she and the other younglings became old enough to be chosen as Padawans. Evalin had never been as anxious as she was then. Even though she knew she had until she turned thirteen, she was still anxious. Months of waiting became a year of waiting, then two years, and with each youngling who was selected by or assigned to a master, Evalin grew more and more terrified that she would be sent to the Corps. Then, when she was twelve years old, she was approached by a female human Jedi Knight, Jenna Typhos, who offered to take her on as an apprentice. Evalin was so relieved that she actually pounced on Jenna and hugged her, much to the Knight's surprise.
Jenna immediately began training the young Cathar, helping her improve her combat skills, while also allowing her to continue her intellectual interests. Jenna noticed, however, just how non-social Evalin was, and encouraged her to at least try to make a few friends with the other Padawans. Though some had trained with her from being younglings, not many had ever really spoken to her except for help with certain assignments. Unfortunately, whenever she tried to be social, she would become nervous, anxious, shy, et cetera, and wouldn't say a word unless someone asked her a question. But Evalin was never lonely. She was just more comfortable when she was alone or with her master, either learning or studying.
The years went by, and as Evalin's understanding of the Force grew, Jenna began taking her on small diplomatic missions to various settlements and planets, or taking her to remote areas of Republic systems for special training. Around the time Evalin was sixteen, Jenna decided she was ready to create her own lightsaber. She just needed a crystal, and where better to find one than the temple on Ilum? So they traveled to Ilum, where Evalin searched the tunnels of the temple for a lightsaber crystal of her own. It took some time, but she found it. She then spent the next month or so constructing the parts for her lightsaber, as well as meditating to attune the crystal to her, and, as per tradition, she designed it to somewhat resemble her master's lightsaber.
Once she had her own blade, Jenna began to teach her some of the more advanced lightsaber forms. Evalin had improved considerably since she first became a Padawan, and she took to the new forms with zeal, taking a particular liking to Soresu. Evalin finally felt like she was good enough to truly be a Jedi. Then things...changed. Jenna began to spend more time away from the Temple, going away on...special assignments from the council. Or so she said. Evalin became more and more curious, even going so far as to ask some of the Jedi Masters about said special assignments, but none of them knew anything about these assignments, though if they really were special assignments, nobody but the council and those on the missions would know anything about them. Still, Evalin couldn't shake the feeling that something was...well, wrong.
A year passed, and with each 'mission,' Evalin' unease grew. Something was wrong, she could feel it. Finally, she approached Jenna about it, asking just exactly what she was doing. Evalin was certain that the council wasn't sending her anywhere, so she demanded to know the truth. Jenna stuck with her claim, saying the council was sending her on scouting missions in response to a possible Sith presence on nearby planets. But Evalin didn't buy it, not for one second.
With each inquiry, Jenna grew more and more angry, until finally she snapped and struck Evalin. The young Cathar was shocked, but when she looked back at her Master, she knew the truth. The yellow irises confirmed it: her Master had fallen. Jenna then confirmed this by utilizing the Force to close off Evalin's windpipe, laughing as she choked her apprentice. Had it not been for the arrival of another Padawan seeking to ask Evalin something relating to the Great Hyperspace War millenia prior, Jenna would surely have killed her. Instead, she fled, having been discovered as a Dark Sider.
Evalin's entire world shattered that night. Her Master, her closest friend, had embraced the Dark Side, and tried to kill her. She didn't know what to do, save inform the council of her Master's fall, but after that, she just didn't know what to do. She felt sad, betrayed, hurt...and stupid. She was a Jedi, she shouldn't be like this. She had become too attached to her Master, and felt weak because of that. So she gathered her resolve, and effectively shut her emotions away, before being assigned a new Master, Jedi Master Theo Vaas, a middle aged Zabrak male. Under Master Vaas's tutelage, she continued her training, becoming more adept with the Force, as well as coming up with little tricks to help her in combat, such as using the Force to trip rather than throw, and even practicing using it to deflect Force attacks or blaster fire, though this was only if she was either caught unawares, or disarmed. This particular skill had come in handy on a number of occasions, most notably on a mission to escort a senator who was believed to be the target of an assassination plot. During the mission, Evalin was suddenly alerted to a figure on a walkway above them, who was aiming a blaster rifle at the senator. Before she could draw her lightsaber, the assassin fired at the senator, so Evalin stepped between the bolt and the senator, using the Force to deflect the blaster bolt with the palm of her hand.
Over the next five years, Evalin grew more adept with Force, and became more skilled with her lightsaber, though she still pursued her intellectual interests. She also recovered from the emotional devastation of her former master's betrayal, though she had learned to not become attached to people or things, at least not to the degree she had become attached to her former master. She had even been in contact with her brother, Kriegen, though her Master was reluctant to allow this. Finally, she was deemed ready to face the trials. Finally, she was to become a Jedi Knight. She had been waiting for this her entire life, and now the moment for her to prove herself had arrived. All that stood between her and the trials was a diplomatic mission to an independent military frigate that had recently entered orbit around Naboo. The Naboo government had attempted contacting the station, but had received no response, and had asked the Jedi for help.
Master Vaas and Evalin were tasked with traveling to the ship and speaking with whoever was in charge of it, in the hopes that they could prevent any violent action, which was always a possibility with mercenaries. Upon their arrival, however, they felt something amiss. Too late, they realized it was a trap, and they were ambushed by a squad of mercenaries. The two Jedi fought and eliminated the soldiers, then made their way towards the command center, fighting off mercenaries as they went. Suddenly, they were separated by ray shielding, unable to reach each other. As they tried to find a power source or panel they could use to deactivate the shielding, a blast door on her master's side opened, and out stepped a masked Dark Jedi, their lightsaber ignited and in hand. Evalin could only stand and watch as her master dueled with the Darksider, as she desperately continued searching for a way to disable the ray shielding between her and her master, so that she might help him. Unfortunately, her efforts were in vain. The Dark Jedi disarmed her master by severing his hand at the wrist, before thrusting their crimson blade through Master Vaas's heart. Evalin cried out in disbelief as her master fell to the ground, dead.
The Dark Jedi simply left without a word.
Despite her grief, Evalin was suddenly on high alert. Why hadn't the Dark Jedi disabled the shielding and come killed her? She would've been no match for them...but if he had an apprentice, she'd be more than a suitable opponent for an apprentice. She drew her lightsaber once more, and quickly made her way back towards her ship, keeping an eye out for the apprentice, though she didn't even know there was one...until she felt their presence. She rounded a corner and came face to face with a young male Zabrak, not much older than her, with red and black skin and a drawn lightsaber. Evalin had no choice but to fight him, as he was blocking her path to her ship.
Evalin fought for her life that day, drawing on her entire knowledge of the Force, using every trick she had, and fighting with a ferocity that she had never felt before. But it wasn't anger that fueled her, nor was it fear. It was the Force. She felt it flow through her, heightening her reflexes, increasing her speed and strength, letting her sense the dark apprentice's attacks before they came. With each blocked attack, the Zabrak grew more and more agitated, eventually throwing form out the airlock and slashing wildly. One over-committed strike was all Evalin needed. She deflected the strike, then bisected the Zabrak at the waist. She was already running back to the ship as both halves hit the ground.
Upon her return to the Temple, she informed the council of the events that had transpired aboard the cruiser. They expressed their condolences to her for the death of her master, and told her they would inform the Republic to send a strike team immediately, but congratulated her on her defeat of the Dark apprentice. She had endured a terrible hardship, having lost her master, but had also shown great skill and courage with her defeat of the apprentice. To her amazement, the council decided that the events were enough to satisfy the criteria for three of her four Jedi Trials: The Trial of Skill, the Trial of Flesh, and the Trial of Courage. All she had to do now was take the Trial of Spirit. For this, she went into a deep meditation and looked within herself. What she found was a vision of her first master, Jenna Typhos, as a full-fledged Sith Lord, then an army of Sith marching against the Jedi Temple on Coruscant...and finally, she saw her brother.
He was standing in an empty plain on a planet she didn't recognize, surrounded by slain Jedi and Republic soldiers. He looked towards her, his eyes completely yellow, a look of hatred on his face. He then drew two lightsabers, one red and one green, and sprinted towards Evalin. She had no choice but to fight him, blocking strikes from both blades as she was forced backwards. The double bladed onslaught quickly overwhelmed Evalin, giving Kriegen an opening to throw her backwards with the Force. As Evalin struggled to get back to her feet, her trachea suddenly closed off as she was lifted into the air. Kriegen had her at his mercy, and it seemed that he fully intended to choke the life out of her. Evalin grabbed at her throat, but there was nothing she could do but flail helplessly. She felt herself start to slip away, before she noticed a blaster pistol from a fallen Republic trooper. She called it to her hand and, before her brother could react, blasted towards his chest repeatedly. One bolt struck his armor, but he easily deflected the subsequent bolts, but they'd done their job. With Kriegen's focus having broken, Evalin dropped to the ground, then dashed towards her brother, calling her lightsaber back to her hand. Kriegen directed a dual bladed slash at her, but she slid underneath it, and ran Kriegen through. As Evalin watched the light fade from her brother's eyes, the vision ended, and she was sitting in the meditation chamber once more. She had passed, and was knighted that same day. She was finally a true Jedi. She had never been happier...and yet the vision from her Trial of Spirit continues to worry her four years later...

“Well, Jedi, what do you make of this?” Captain Oros, a police investigator, asked Evalin. She was at the scene of a very strange murder, one that might possibly be the work of a Dark Jedi. Around her, a team of investigators searched the apartment fpr evidence of the killing. The victim was a young politician, Javen Reiss, a human who had been running for election in the Senate. He had been found dead in his quarters, no apparent wounds, but toxicology reports would take some time, so they couldn't determine if it was poison just yet. However, they had requested a Jedi Investigator to determine if the murder was caused by the Force, and Evalin had been assigned the case.
“Certainly either poison or the Force,” Evalin replied. “Give me a moment to concentrate, and I might be able to know for certain.” Careful to not contaminate the scene, Evalin moved towards the corpse, knelt down, and held out her hand. She closed her eyes in concentration, feeling for any traces of dark Force energy, though odds were good the energy had faded already. She started from the corpse's feet, slowly moving her hand up towards his head. She didn't sense anything strange, until she reached his chest. As soon as she felt it, she stopped and concentrated harder. A faint trace of the Force was on Javen's heart.
“Someone used the Force to stop his heart,” Evalin declared, standing and opening her eyes.
“Are you certain?” Captain Oros asked.
“I am. I sensed the Force on his heart. I'm positive this is the work of a Force user...the question is, who?”
“But...there are no Sith on Coruscant, and a Jedi wouldn't do this.”
“Not all Force users are Jedi or Sith. There are rogue Jedi all over the galaxy. I believe this is the work of a Dark Jedi.”
“Dark Jedi?”
“A dark Force user not affiliated with the Sith. I'm going to ask some of Javen's neighbors some questions, if you do not mind, Captain?”
“Not at all.” Evalin nodded and stepped out of the crime scene. This wasn't good. It was just like a case another Jedi had spoken of. A young politician, specifically a Senate candidate, found dead in his quarters, his heart seemingly stopped with the Force. If they were by the same individual, they might have a Dark Jedi serial murderer on their hands...or a hired assassin who could use the Force. Maybe questioning some of Javen's neighbors might shed some insight about his final days.
Evalin was just about to ring the buzzer of one of the neighboring apartments, when she felt something in the Force...something dark. And it was close. The fur on the back of her neck stood on edge as she slowly turned to face down the hall. Standing at the end of the hallway, looking right at her was a black cloaked figure. Their hood was pulled over their head, so Evalin was unable to see their face clearly, but one thing was for certain.
This figure was giving off the dark energies she was sensing. “You there, identify yourself!” Evalin ordered, walking towards the figure. It simply turned and walked down an intersecting hallway. Evalin ran after the figure and turned down the corner, just in time to see the figure turn down another hallway. “Hey! Stop!” Evalin called after the figure, running after them. She pulled her lightsaber from her belt, jut in case, and turned down the next hallway. There the figure was again, simply looking at her. “Identify yourself!” Evalin called again. The figure did not reply. It simply reached into it's cloak, drew a black cylinder from it...and ignited a red lightsaber. Evalin activated her own simultaneously, before dropping back into the Soresu opening stance, twirling her lightsaber as she took a step back, holding it up horizontally with her left hand extended towards the Dark Jedi. “Surrender now, darksider,” she ordered, though she knew they wouldn't.
They never do.
The Dark Jedi suddenly leapt towards her, slashing horizontally at her. Evalin dropped her blade to block the strike, then brought it up to deflect a follow up strike. The Dark Jedi then spun and aimed for her head, which she blocked easily. Slash after slash, strike after strike, Evalin blocked each one, some with ease, others not so easily. The Dark Jedi didn't relent, bringing a double-handed strike down towards Evalin's head. She brought her lightsaber up to intercept the strike, but instead of striking again, the Dark Jedi pushed down towards Evalin. Because of her positioning and size, she couldn't push back very well. She tried, though, but was forced down onto her knee. She looked up at the Dark Jedi, now able to see the face of a male Shistavanen. The wolf-like alien grinned in triumph, but his grin was gone when Evalin decided to play dirty. Taking a page from her brother's book of tricks, she took a huge risk, and punched the alien between the legs.
He yelped and stumbled back, allowing Evalin to throw him back with the Force. The Shistavanen dropped his lightsaber, which Evalin immediately called to her hand, before approaching the alien, brandishing her saber at him.
“Now...I have some questions for you...”
