Species Name: Taesarite (/?te??s??-a?t/)
Species Type: Reptoamphibian
Planet of Origin: Endelaan
Average Maximum age: Immunity to cellular senescence
Age of Maturation: Maturation dependent on condition of psychological development as opposed to age; varies between 200 and 260 years on average
Average Height: 2 meters / 7'0" (females); 3 meters / 10'0" (males)
Average Weight: 270 lbs (females); 320 lbs (males)
Biological features: The Taesarites are a tall sentient race with biological similarities to reptilian and amphibious species. Standing between two-to-three meters tall, with two digitigrade legs, semi-permeable skin covered in scales, four digits on their two hands - two of which on either side of the handare thumbs - and toes, broad chests and shoulders, and narrow waists with slim midsections, the Taesarites are intimidating in appearance. Extending back from the crown of the head, Taesarites have a bony crest, and located beneath them are the nerve cords, that are responsible for their having what Human and Near-Human species would call hyperacute sensory faculties. Taesar have a sense of touch, smell, hearing and sight that are much sharper than that of most humanoid species, with the exception of their lacking a sense of taste.
One of the most unique aspects of Taesarite biology is their hardiness. Remarkable genetic strength and fortitude allow Taesarites to adapt to some of the galaxy's harshest environments, including extreme heat, extreme cold, dense tropics and even polluted urbanization. Physically strong and fast, Taesarites are one of few species, much like the Feeorin, that grow stronger with age, not weaker - a powerful Taesarite chieftain is likely one of - if not the oldest member of a Taesarite tribe. Their genetic material holds astonishing strength for the Taesarites even down to the DNA, as Taesarites are biologically immune to senescence, the decaying process of aging, much like the Talortai and Tholothians, although they can still be killed by traditional means.
One of the most vital organs of a Taesarite is their skin, for it hosts a number of their sensory and nutritional foundations. Photosynthetic, Taesarites derive sustenance through the skin; solar radiation and water are absorbed through their scales and conductivity distributed throughout their bodies to provide nourishment and sustain them. While not as efficient, reflected and artificially simulated radiations can also sustain them, such as moonlight and synthetic radiation sources. A Taesar can go without light sustenance for almost two weeks before death, and one week before weakening, but must have regular bi-daily contact, preferably immersion, with a source of water, lest they quickly dehydrate.
Taesarites also, lacking noses or ears, hear and smell though their skin as well, from a bodily membrane that resides just beneath the scales of their exterior. In spite of being encased, this membrane allows a Taesarite to smell and hear with greater clarity than a Human, and also supplies their ability to sense tactition. As a result however, any harm coming to a Taesarite that bypasses or penetrates their hard scales causes hypersensitive pain to their entire bodies, not simply the point of contact. Consequently, Taesarites are actually much more susceptible to the adverse effects of harm than most sentient species in the galaxy.
Taesarites have incredible stamina, with three hearts and three lungs alike, and for the lower working castes of their society, it was not uncommon or unheard of for their people to be subjected to labor-intensive activities for days at a time, without rest beyond immersion in water. Taesarites have luminescent eyes and exceptional night vision and can see in the ultraviolet and infrared frequencies with strenuous effort. As a species, virtually all Taesarites are Force sensitive, with the exceptionally few members of their species lacking it being called "the silenced" - that is, unable to hear and speak through the Force. As they lack mouths, the Taesarites as a species evolved a telepathic language called "Ahluvon", which unlike most telepathic languages - which involve more thought and emotion - is heavily structured like a spoken language, including word structures, sentences, tenses, and so forth.
While many Taesarites possess rudimentary Force abilities aside from their telepathy, such as telekinesis, precognition, and Force-augmented regeneration, very, very few Force powers exist among them, such as the manner of the Jedi Order of the Sith Lords. The only exception to this is partially rooted in their cultural habits, which resulted in their natural affinity to control and manipulate technology with the Force though the powers of Technometry and Electronic Manipulation. While seen as irrelevant and fundamentally flawed by most sentients in the galaxy that come across Taesarite technology, Taesarites neglect many basic processes in their
technology due to the Force contributing to their way of life. Consequently, because their technology is made in such a way that requires using the Force to "fill in the gaps" as it were (such as a console with no external power switch, a weapon with no visible trigger, or a datapad with no functioning power source) all Taesarites quickly learn to use technology through the Force, making it, along with telepathy, the only Force Powers that are associated with their people.
Culture: The Taesarites are a tribal society, with every member of every tribe being born into a specific caste from birth, depending on their family. Religion is arguably the strongest binding trait among all the Taesarite tribes, and their philosophical creeds and values are more akin to a related blend of the concepts of the Unifying Force, Aperion, Pneuma, and Potentium. Every tribe among the Teasarites have unique rites, customs, ceremonies and traditions. While very few customs are practiced all tribes, those that were had often been considered to be the rites of surpassing importance.
The Taesarites had several castes that built the foundation of their society; the Revak Caste, the Rahzun Caste, the Junus Caste, the Ativut Caste, the Kroson Caste, and the Norzaar Caste. Fulfilling a specific purpose in their society, most Taesarites were bound to their caste for life, unless they made petition before the Junus Caste. This was particularly difficult when a Taesar sought to enter a caste dominated by an opposing gender. For instance, the Revak Caste is largely female-dominated, whereas the Rahzun Caste is male-dominated. While gender bias is not a deep entrenchment among Taesarites, gender roles do exist among them.
A female Taesarite of the Revak Caste
The Revak Caste is the religious caste among the Taesarites, and took the lead in worship to the pantheon of gods they worshiped. Taesarite religion was very similar to ancestor worship, and all honored dead were believed to live on as spirits. However, Taesarites who died after accomplishing truly spectacular deeds are heralded as gods upon their passing, beings for all Taesarites to pray for blessings in their own endeavors. For instance, a Taesarite warrior who died in honor would be considered a spirit in the afterlife, but only the one whom the Taesarites considered the greatest warrior who'd ever lived would be seen as a god. Taesarite gods are called Avatars, and one Avatar exists for a particular attribute exulted by Taesarite culture, such as valiance, wisdom, cunning, strength and leadership. Such can be seen in three Avatars that follow;
The most important god to the Taesarites of the Rahzun Caste was Silkriid, avatar of strife, warriors and valiance. Silkriid was once a Taesarite warrior of fantastic ability who perished slaying an army of over one thousand, forcing them in retreat before falling himself from exhaustion. In his actions, Silkriid was thus subsequently worshiped by the Taesarites as the embodiment of war, and many Taesarites, particularly those of the Rahzun Caste, sought to be blessed by him with skill in battle and fortitude against their enemies.
Another important deity to the Taesarites, specifically to those of the Revak Caste, was the goddess Pahalun, avatar of wisdom, knowledge and mystery. Once considered a priestess of the least prominent tribe to the Revak, Pahalun was gifted with an extraordinary mind to the Force, and was the first who uncovered multiple powers beyond telepathy and physical augmentation, the most famous being her ability to communicate with technology and bend it to her will. Pahalun achieved great power from the Force before the event of her "ascension", where her physical body vanished during a period of her intense meditation, and was subsequently worshiped by the Taesarites of the Revak Caste to be blessed with insight, understanding and the keenest of perceptions.
A third god to the Taesarites, the patron to the Junus Caste in particular, was Kriisjor, avatar of leadership, sovereignty and divine right. Kriisjor is one of the oldest gods to the Taesarites, and arguably the most worshiped. A figure during the devastatingly bloody Aeonian War, a period of some 10,000 years of unbridled and incessant warfare between the thousands of Taesarite tribes, Kriisjor was seen as the first among equals, and led a conquest, not to exterminate the other tribes to achieve supremacy, but to bring all under a single banner. Over the course of nearly two hundred years, Kriisjor's campaign brought over three thousand tribes under his rule, solidifying his dominance and forcing the other tribes to ultimately fall under his banner over the course of the next decades. Kriisjor's rule was marked by progress, expansion, peace and self-discovery as a people and culture, beyond conflicts, and upon his death, was heralded as a god for all of the Junus Caste.
While all Taesarites worship the Avatars, the Revak Caste takes the lead in worship and are also the only caste that actively worship all of the avatars, as opposed to simply the ones that embody the traits they seek to emulate.

The next of the castes is the Rahzun Caste, the warriors, guardians, generals and martial masters of the Taesarites.
