"Sometimes, being a Jedi, and being a hero, don't feel like the same thing"
Name:Kaelan Stark, “Kael”
Race: Human
Age: 24
Height:6’2’’
Weight: 182 lbs
Appearance: Kaelan is considered tall by most people he meets, and has the appropriate weight of a fit person that height. He is considerably handsome, with a strong jaw and masculine features. A very faint stubble adorns his face, though it’s hard to say if he has it because he doesn’t care much about his looks, or because he likes that it makes him look more mature. He has no tattoos or piercing anywhere in his body, though he has nothing against them, he’s just not the type. His eyes are bright blue, and his hair is a light shade of brown. He used to wear it in a medium length style, but cut it shorter at the same time he cut off his braid. He usually wears the average brown Jedi robes when he is not on a mission, but when travelling or during an assignment, he wears armor on his upper body, arms, forearms, hands, feet, and up to his knees. This armor is white, while the robes underneath are ocean blue. He doesn’t have any noticeable scars either.
Personality: Most of the time, Kael has a happy expression on his face. He has a smile so warm it can melt ice, though not literally of course. And most of the time, it is completely sincere. He has a kind attitude to strangers and friends alike. He sees each person as a new world to learn from, so he enjoys conversations and has an open mind when it comes to knowledge. Despite being mostly a warrior, he also shows interest in philosophy and information in general. He is normally a calm individual, but can be unbalanced nonetheless if it touches close to home. He shares his Master’s love for nature, plants and animals alike. He keeps a garden which he takes care of. Kael enjoys reading and sleeping in his free time, since he’s usually tired. Most people like his sense of humor.
He, like many others, has gone through much pain in the past, but he takes it with the best attitude he can manage. Kael is loyal to the Order, but isn’t sure if he believes in the Living Force, and has a hard time accepting that there is a written fate for all of us. He always tries to talk himself out of a fight, avoiding potential confrontation, but this doesn’t mean he would shy away from combat, in fact, he enjoys the usual friendly duel.

Birth
-“The Force doesn’t lie, Captain. There is life in that ship “-
Master Oro’thal referring to “The Stark “
Jedi Knight Kaelan Stark was born approximately 23 years ago on an unknown location. He was found by a group of Republic Troopers led by Master Oro’thal, which had orders to explore the area after reports of strange activity. A ship later known as “The Stark” was found in an Outer Rim system by this group. The ship didn’t respond any of the attempts for communication and the scanners showed there was no life sings on the ship either, but the Jedi Master wasn’t so sure, something beyond himself told him otherwise. After some meditation, he was able to confirm the presence of life, and pinpoint its exact location in the ship. They found a baby in the air duct of one of the ship’s rooms, crying and covered in a green blanket with the word “Kaelan “on it.
There was no one else on the ship, and no corpses either. The ship’s systems were still functioning, and everything was in place. It seemed as if the crew had just disappeared. “The Stark “ was an research type shuttle, designed to study the activity of stars or explore systems with extreme UV radiation, and as such, it had an Electromagnetic Force Field, which was the best defense against that kind of radiation, but could also cause malfunctions in radars and scanners. The young baby was taken back to Coruscant, where a Midi-chlorian test revealed he was Force Sensitive. With no known parents or extended family, he was taken into the Order, where he was raised. The exact date of birth is unknown.

-“Since when is using the Force cheating?”-
-“It is if you use it to untie my pants! You distracted me! “-
-“Excuses and more excuses. What a bad loser, Kael “-
Kaelan and Nerik after a race
He went through the normal Jedi Initiate or Youngling training in the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. Upon arriving at the Temple, Initiates were sorted into one of a host of clans by fosterers who used the Force to place each child where they belonged. Each clan was made up of about ten Initiates who lived and studied together for a little over a decade. Each clan was tended to by a trained instructor who would lead their charges in the early exercises, guide them to meals in the refectories, and ensure that they were assimilating well into Jedi life. His particular fosterer noticed that Kaelan had a tendency to create strong emotional bonds with other Younglings, a trait that was to be corrected if he would have a future as a Jedi, but this proved very difficult, as it seems loving others was in his nature.
The prime example of this trait was Nerik Ghen, an extremely talented Youngling which Kaelan befriended. Despite numerous attempts to separate them, they became best friends. Nerik and Kael constantly challenged each other to physical and mental challenges, one trying to top the other. More often than not, these competitions caused property damage. Their Instructors were aware of the fact that such rivalry could cause negative emotions, but theirs seemed to help in their development and training, so they were not seriously punished. Kaelan had a strong curiosity and thirst for new knowledge, which made him grow impatient was the cause of his tendency to explore. In their first teen years , Kael and Nerik found a hidden pathway in the Jedi Temple that led to the Works of Coruscant, from where they could go almost anywhere in a large area .
They both used this pathway many times to sneak out of the Temple and explore the city, mainly because of the great curiosity they both shared. From the Temple, Kaelan had been able to see the lights of Coruscant all his life, but that wasn’t enough for him, he wanted to see all it had to offer, talk to someone that wasn’t a Jedi, see the incredible things in the stores, see the strange travelers from other planets and all the wonders they brought in the Spaceport. They were both able to do all these things and more, while managing not to be caught. At least until a girl named Lydia Nhom, a member of Kael’s Youngling clan caught on to their little escapades, but instead of telling on them, she joined the boys and gave them advice on how not to be caught. This girl had an astounding talent for Telepathy, and over the years, she learned to communicate with both Kaelan and Nerik exceptionally well.
That boy became Kaelan’s only family, a brother to play with, a rival to compete against, and overall, the best friend someone could ask for. They promised to each other, that they would both be in the Jedi Council one day, and even went as far as competing for the title of Grand Master. Nerik was more talented than Kaelan in general, but the latter always put everything he had into what he did, and practiced much more, often taking himself to the limit. What took Kael a week to learn, Nerik could do it in a day or two, but that didn’t discourage him, it just made him fight harder. They practiced “Broken Gate” quite extensively over the years, achieving an advanced enough grip on hand-to-hand combat.
His last name was unknown to those who found him, but Master Oro’thal called him “Kaelan of the Stark” as a young boy, and eventually it was shortened to Kaelan Stark, though the boy never liked it that much.
The Padawan of Master Kha’si (Ages 12-18)
-“The Masters teach their Padawan all of their knowledge with the hope that the students will one day improve said knowledge with their own experience and transmit it to the next generation. That circle allows our Order to grow and evolve “-
Master Kha’si talking to Kaelan
Then came the Initiate trials, where the two boys showed their hard-earned skills and natural talent. They both passed with flying colors, and caught the eye of more than one potential Master. The eager teens wanted nothing more than to leave the planet and travel the Galaxy in search for adventure, though they tried to avoid thinking about the fact that they would have to separate to do so. Nerik was selected by a very respected Jedi Master after only a few days, beginning his apprenticeship under one of the best the Order had to offer. But Kaelan’s case was more complicated.
Even though there were several Masters more than willing to take the Youngling as their Padawan, an unusual situation had occurred the morning before the trials. The Council did not typically get involved in the selection process, yet if a Seer on the Council foresaw a set destiny for a student, they would push them towards fulfilling the prophecy by assigning a student to a master. This was a rare phenomenon, but hardly unheard off, and it was handled like all the similar situations before it. The Padawan was assigned to Master Kha’si Noral under the Council’s direct orders.
The Nautolan Jedi was in her early forties and was mainly a researcher in the field of the Force and its uses. At first sight, it was obvious they wouldn’t fit very well. Kaelan wanted a Master that focused more on combat, instead of the scholar that Kha’si was known to be. But in time, he realized that appearances were deceiving. One of the many things he learned from her. His new Master spent the first few weeks learning about him, in long meetings that consisted mostly of talks and simple tests. She noticed his overwhelming curiosity, lack of patience and energetic attitude, and slowly thought of ways to lessen these negative traits, which would be hazardous for anyone in their Order. Her goal was that of many teachers, to create a student strong enough to surpass her.
Despite her calm and soft appearance, she turned out to be rather merciless when it came to training. Kha’si imposed a very strict diet and exercise routine, which would set the path of the practice of Taro’mien in the future. He trained with very heavy weapons and weights along his body the great majority of the time. But his mind wasn’t neglected, not even close. While the days were filled with grueling physical exercise, his evenings had nothing but books and holocrons for study. Sometimes he had to do both things at the same time, to meet her intense deadlines.
She took him to the limit, maybe even a little further, but he always picked himself up and kept going. After the first few years of training with her in Coruscant, the use of the Force acquired greater importance inside of his days as a Padawan. The severity of the training didn’t waver however, it simply passed to a new level. With the years passing by, his proficiency grew exponentially, but there was always something new to learn. He revealed a dormant talent for Battle Precognition, which his Master studied with more depth.
She described everything as a flow, constantly changing in one way or the other. That flow could be read, according to her, and that’s something she wanted to pass down to him. Kha’si compared a battle or a duel to a dance, since the goal was to match your opponent’s movements, and finding their “rhythm”. This mentality and fighting style rubbed off on him, and so he often fights with grace and elegance, moving like water, but striking like a rock when the time calls for it. He moves through things instead of facing them head on, unless there’s no other way. His Master used Soresu, but he found that Form V suited his style better. Another important focus of her training was the technique known as Tutaminis and the Art of Movement. While the latter specialized in avoiding attacks instead of deflecting them, in which Kaelan proved to be considerably skilled, the first was equally important, since as his Master said, some things cannot be avoided. This disciplined proved to be more difficult, but the years allowed him to improve his defensive use of the Force to a level that nearly matched his Master.
She thought he would hate her, for making him go through all of that, but Kaelan always welcomed a challenge, and every time he managed to surpass her expectations, he grew closer to his Master. Despite having several key differences, they had certain chemistry, and with time, their bond became stronger. She was kind and loving, at least when they were not training, and she would always heal his wounds and aches after a long and hard day. Kha’si enjoyed his sense of humor, and his childish smile always managed to cheer her up. She had had two other Padawan before him, but Kaelan was different somehow. He managed to change her like the others hadn’t.
During this time, he grew apart from Nerik, who was off-planet most of the time. But his Master made sure to arrange several duels a week with other Padawan, giving him a chance to practice and interact with people his age. Her love for nature also played an important part in his years under her tutelage. Kael tended to her garden, first by obligation, but then out of a sense of duty. This way, she prepared him for the responsibility of having a living being that relies on you. Kha’si noticed that animals reacted in a very friendly manner to him, and the plants also seemed to grow healthier when he took care of them personally.
The years in Coruscant with his Master were exceptionally uneventful, except for the severe training of course. They rarely left the planet, and when they did, the missions were far too simple and honestly boring. Despite becoming more mature and patient in the last years of training, part of him still hungered for a chance to actually use what he had learned. At the age of 17, he was taken to Illum, for a very important and personal mission. The crafting of his very own lightsaber. He searched in the crystal caves, until he found a lightsaber crystal that somehow felt just perfect, different from the rest. He then proceeded to lose himself in deep meditation, calling upon the Force as the pieces rose in the air and began to assemble carefully.
Protecting House Nimara (Ages 18-22)
-“Force give me patience…How do I protect someone who doesn’t want to be protected?! “-
Theora talking about Neystera
Nulan Island is a considerably big piece of land in the planet known as Alderaan, which has suffered from a nearly constant state of civil war (Nulan, not Alderaan). Two noble families, House Nimara and House Bralth, fight for dominance over the island and its resources, and their people are caught in the middle of this pointless in-fighting. The major houses of Alderaan had no right to intervene in this violent affair and neither did the Republic. The situation seemed to only worsen with time until discontent among both sides led to a truce. After the small war came to a halt, House Organa, a noble family that held power over them inside of the Alderaanian hierarchy, did all it could to make said truce last. Both houses agreed to an alliance, sealed by marriage, to protect their lands and unify their people. But it seemed like there were other players in the shadows that wished for the chaos to continue, and for the planet to weaken.
Lady Neystera Nimara was to marry Talen Bralth, but he fell, or was thrown, off of his balcony a few days before it could take place, instead, she now had to marry his younger brother, Reltan Bralth, but he was only thirteen years old at the time, so the marriage had to be postponed for at least three whole years. After several other assassinations and sabotages, both House Organa and the Republic itself decided to stop standing around idly and take action.
The Jedi Order sent Master Kha’si and Master Oro’thal, and their respective Padawan, to insure the protection of House Nimara until the marriage. As one can expect, Kaelan was more than happy to finally get a real mission, even if it only meant babysitting. On the other hand, his Master wasn’t as confident, but ultimately agreed to it. Master Oro’thal was the first to arrive, as well as his Padawan, Theora Nehera. She was a year older than Kaelan and nearly as tall, which was impressive for a woman. To say they didn’t hit it off at first, is an understatement. He was calm and treated everyone kindly, while she was a hot-headed and angry young woman, set on doing her duty and becoming stronger, but not much else. She was an Iridonian Zabrak with red skin and orange eyes, add that to the bad demeanor and you should have no problem understanding why most people stayed away from her. In her years as a Youngling, the other children dubbed her as “evil looking” and avoided the poor girl. She grew accustomed to the loneliness, instead of trying to fight it. The only person Theora considered a friend was her Master, who taught her not to let her looks block her prowess, and he was a Kel Dor, so he knew what he was talking about.
Both Padawan were forced to train together every single day, and despite Theora never talking to him, their movements and duels were a form of communications. Without so much as a word, they grew closer just by fighting each other and learning from their opponent. He didn’t seem to care about her outside appearance, and looked at her the same way he looked at everyone else. She wasn’t able to scare him away.
The Jedi Masters were too busy helping with negotiations and tracking down the assassins to train their Padawan properly, but always tried to set aside some time for them. Still, in those few years, Kaelan became more independent and relied less on his Master. He adopted the Taro’mien way of life to its fullest, even without Kha’si there.
In his time there, Kaelan also developed sort of an “older brother” relationship was Norehly Nimara, Neystera’s cousin. Her parents had died when she was nothing but a baby, so she had been raised by her uncles. She was the first person that Kaelan taught anything too.
Her cousin, however, wasn’t as easy. She was only a few years older than Kaelan, but that was enough for her to treat him as a child. Ney, as she was called by most people who knew her, hated the idea of having people looking after her and did everything in her power to get rid of her two protectors. Theora and Ney were constantly at each other’s throats , and Kael was the only thing that stood between the two. The strange trio continued with this precarious relationship for years, with Kaelan always managing to keep them from killing each other.
Kaelan also made a habit of playing dejarik and holo-chess with a famed battle commander that served House Nimara, a Mon Calimari named Arloneck. He learned a great deal of strategy and warfare from this man, though he initially hated those games. Later on, he discovered that it had been Master Kha’si who had asked the commander to play with him, as a form of training.
Everything seemed to be going perfectly, but as the wedding date neared, something grew silently in the future bride’s heart. One night, Ney tried to escape from her family’s castle, but Kael and Theora managed to catch up to her. She explained that she didn’t want to marry that way, that she didn’t even know Reltan. All the things you would expect from a situation like this. Surprisingly, Theora supported her decision to flee, despite their animosity, saying that she would do the same if she ever found herself in that position. But Kaelan reminded her that being a noble meant she had a responsibility to her people, and that she could stop a war and save lives. He hated the fact that those words were leaving his mouth, but it had to be said. They returned in silence to the castle, and no one else ever found out.
And so, the long awaited date arrived. They met in the Bralth fortress’s ceremony hall, where the large feast was held. Master Kha’si seemed to have some sort of premonition as Reltan’s uncle delivered his speech. The truth became clear to her, or part of it at least. She warned everyone, but it was already too later. The servants revealed hidden blasters and soldiers stormed into the hall. Both Bralths and Nimaras seemed equally confused by this turn of events, but there was hardly time to think. Oro’thal and Theora managed to save Neystera and Norehly, but were forced to leave the other two Jedi behind. Kaelan and his Master fought bravely against the unknown forces, but were slowly overwhelmed. Lord Moen Nimara, Ney’s father, didn’t make it, and neither did his wife. Kha’si ordered Kael to save Reltan, the only hope for the alliance, for peace. Kaelan was able to dodge most of the shots fired, but Reltan didn't have his speed or reflexes, and would son perish if no assistance came his way. Without time to take a grip of his lightsaber or put himself in the proper position, Niralim used Force Absorption for the first time to defend the boy against a couple of blaster bolts that had been fired his way. It was mostly a success, but Kael hurt the palm of one of his hands slightly when he didn't manage to dispel one of his objectives properly.
And so, there he stood. At a crossroads between the woman he loved as a son loved his mother, and a boy he had never met before. Between love and duty. The Force made him test the words he had told Ney on his own flesh. At the end, he did what every Jedi was supposed to do. His Master smiled back at him as a tear came down her face, proud and sad at the same time. She held the enemy off, giving them a chance to escape through the window of one of the rooms.
Both of them crossed swamps and forests for weeks, until reaching the Nimara fortress on the opposite side of the island. For a minute, Kaelan felt a strange breeze, that seemed to whisper something to him in a soft and feminine voice, as well as a hand on his shoulder, but when he turned, there was nothing. Reltan and Ney were married the day after, rendering the coup d'état orchestrated by Nomen Bralth, as a failure. The man apparently didn’t wish for the war to end, or perhaps he wanted to marry Ney himself to rule over all of the land. All three surviving Jedi received medals for their service, and a statue was built in Kha’si’s honor.
A deeper bond (Age-22)
-"I think I love you too much"-
-"There's no such thing as too much love"-
Kael and Theora
Kael secluded himself in his quarters, trying to keep himself from crying, and failing. But at least this way, no one had to see him like that. His idol and friend was gone. The idea that she might be with the Force now wasn’t of much comfort for him, since he wanted her with him, alive and by his side again. Many came by to check on him, including Ney and Norehly, but he just thanked them from behind the door. Theora missed his only true friend, the funny boy that had seen her for more than the way she looked, and beyond her angry surface. She used the Force to break the lock on his door, but Kael seemed to just ignore her as well. Theora wasn’t like the rest though; she didn’t comfort him in the same way. She gave him what he needed. Called him a crybaby, and other things that are better if left unmentioned. These words might have seemed inconsiderate to an outside observer, but Kaelan knew what hid beneath them. He cleaned the tears and ate the food that had slowly begun to concentrate outside of his door, tray after tray. That night, Theora took a leap. With all the death she had seen in only a few seconds, how fast entire lives ended, she figured that time was precious and she shouldn’t waste it. She told him that she loved him, without a doubt in her mind. For a few seconds, she grew scared, as he quietly looked at her, not knowing what to say. He did know, however, that actions speak louder than words, and a kiss, was better than anything he could have said at the moment.
They kept their new relationship secret as best they could, but since the mission was now over, it didn’t take long for them to return to Coruscant, where they had less freedom. The frequency with which they saw each other lowered, but love is persistent, so they always found a way. Some people grew suspicious, but there was never enough proof to make it anything but a rumor. Theora showed him a more tender side, and even seemed to be happier in general. Both of them received high praise from the Council for performing an admirable task with such little experience, and explained the repercussions their actions might have. Their love seemed to only be able to grow with time.
A few months after arriving at Coruscant, both Kael and Theora went through the Trials of Knighthood without much trouble.
The Trial of Skill: Kaelan dueled and defeated Master Oro’thal in single combat, since his own Master had died earlier that year. Some might argue that the old Jedi Master was going easy on Kael, but anyone who knew Oro’thal personally knew that he would consider that as an offense to the Padawan.
Trial of Courage: In this simulation, Kaelan had to speak up against a Jedi Master that was giving false information and punishing Younglings unjustly during a class. He was threatened with failing the trials if he continued with such “insolence”, but that didn’t stop him. In this occasion, he did not know he was being tested.
Trial of the Flesh: Kaelan had already gone through the death of his Master, and overcame it, so many considered this trial to be merely something official. This time, he had to endure physical pain simulated by nerve stimulators. He had to switch, he could make it stop whenever he wanted. He was not allowed to throw or hide to avoid the temptation of shutting it off. Kael lasted more than long enough.
Trial of Spirit: The last trial was the most troublesome. Every time he entered a deep state of meditation, his Master would appear, and he would have to start over again. Kael was about to give up, until he gave the vision a chance to continue. It transformed into another person, another person standing by her side. He couldn’t make out who it was, but it made him remember the bet he and Nerik made as children. Then he knew, he saw himself as a Master.
Old friends, New enemies (Ages 22-24)
-"Our first real duel..."-
Nerik Ghen
Everything was going very well for Kael, who was now a Jedi Knight. He had been given the task to assist the Youngling’s training in the Temple in Coruscant, a task he had absolutely no experience in, and that would hopefully prepare for when he was given his own Padawan. While he would have probably been more effective out in the field, he had a satisfactory performance. Kaelan yearned for some real action, but at least this way he could see Theora every time she came back from a mission. Their private meetings slowly decreased in number, but that made each of them more special.
Nerik arrived some months after Kael had been named a Jedi Knight from a very long mission that cost him his Master’s life. Both friends seemed closer than ever despite the years apart, and soon, their friendship was reborn. Things couldn’t go any better for Kaelan. He felt as if her had found balance in his life, and he wished it would never change. But that was just on the surface. The truth was, that Nerik had fallen to the Dark Side during his mission, with ambition as his fuel, and killed the only witness, his own Master. The only reason he had returned to the Temple, was to recruit more, especially Kaelan, and he saw the opportunity to do so with Theora.
He managed to lure her to his side by pointing out that while they were both in the Jedi Order, her dreams for a life with Kael could never be real, that they both deserved to be free, to be happy. Theora’s love was greater than her loyalty for the Order, so it didn’t take much more for her to fall. But Nerik noticed that doing the same to Kael was nearly impossible , he grew impatient and more reckless, while Theora slowly lost confidence in his cause. An old friend, and one of the few people that knew of Kael’s love for Theora, Lydia Nhom, followed her Zabrak friend to one of her secret meetings one day, certain she was going to meet Kaelan. Her simple attempt to surprise the both of them turned into something more serious when she realized she was meeting Nerik instead, and that he called himself “Darth Nexos” The girl ran to deliver the news to Kaelan, or the Council, anyone who could help, but her fear gave her away. Nerik was about to kill her when Theora stopped him, but the Sith struck her for her insolence. Both Fallen Jedi turned on each other when Theora realized this had gone too far. Lydia’s body was badly hurt, and she could barely move, but channeled what little energy she had left to sending a message to the first person she could think of.
After Theora’s defeat, she was force to kill Lydia, after all, she was just another obstacle in her goal. She was standing between Kaelan and her. By now, Theora’s mind was twisted, and her once pure love had turned into something close to obsession. But when she saw Kaelan, it all seemed to stop. Her world was torn in half. Nerik used this opportunity to escape while Kael talked Theora down. At the end, she knelt on the floor next to Lydia, covering her face with both her hands in a mixture of sadness, disgust and confusion. Kaelan chased after Neri, who was planning on using the secret tunnel to escape the Temple once and for all.
Nerik tried to convince Kaelan to join him and his crusade to bring a new Empire to this troubled Galaxy, order and justice with it. By the way he spoke of the future, Kael was able to notice that his old friend wasn’t sane, that he wasn’t the same person anymore. Kaelan refused and did his best to bring him to the light, avoiding confrontation like any Jedi would. But he knew it wouldn’t do any good.
Both friends collided, now enemies. Red lightsaber against green, with flashes of light every time the blades touched. It was a glorious duel, which made Kaelan think of their competitions as children, and how they both represented the two paths that emerged from the same starting point. Desperate, Nerik played his last card, and managed to summon Force Lightning, though not as powerful as a true Sith's. Kaelan was in a very precarious position, and his lightsaber lied on the ground a few feet away from him. He would have normally dodged, but he trusted his instincts and made a bolder move. He used the same technique that saved Reltan's life, and managed to stop the attack. The lightning managed to burn through his clothes and gloves before Nerik's energy faded. More people came, finally aware of the emergency that was taking place in the Temple, but it was already too late. Theora had spared Lydia, but was nowhere to be found, and Kaelan had been forced to do one of the hardest things he has ever done. Taking his best friends life away. Nerik’s last words were –“You created the monster…”- Only with time did Kaelan understand that he wasn’t talking about himself, but of Theora, who was now a Fallen Jedi according to the Order, and accused of the same crimes as Nerik.
Only a month has passed after all of this, and Kaelan has finally returned to active duty.
RP Sample:
-“Again”- Yelled one of the two Jedi in the training room as she fixed her posture and once more entered his combat stance. While the female Jedi’s voice seemed full of conviction, her body didn’t lie as well. She was panting as sweat crawled its way down her slightly red face, and her chest rose and fell noticeably with each breath. Her weapon had become heavier in her hands as time went by, and her legs were not that far off.
-“You know…”- The male Jedi was in front of her, a few feet away, moving from side to side very slowly, while holding his training saber downwards, in a calmed manner, clearly not threatened –“…next time you ask someone for help rehabilitating, you should be more specific about what it is you want”- Though he looked less tired than his partner, it was clear that they had been practicing for quite a while. His voice was a mix of exhaustion and amusement. She smiled at him –“It was either lying, or dragging your lazy behind down here”- He rolled his eyes and she removed some sweaty hair from in front of her left eye –“Now, stop complaining and come at me!”- She sounded more frustrated than angry, mainly because her body had reached its limit too quickly.
Her last sentence brought Kaelan to a halt, making the Jedi Knight look at his friend for a few seconds before granting Lydia her request. His body shifted until he stood correctly, and then he decided he’d save his friend the trouble of making the first move. Normally, Kael waited until his enemy attacked first, since his combat style relied mainly on strong counterattacks, but since she seemed too tired, the young Jedi skipped the “ladies first” rule just this once. Their training weapons turned into merely blurs as soon as the combat begun, clashing over and over again as their users gracefully dueled. Lydia knew he was a better fighter in general, not to mention faster and better trained in that regard, but she had a few hidden moves that needed testing. And who better to play the role of the dummy than him?
Kaelan managed to land a blow to her knee before she was able to jump backwards. Her opponent wasn’t slow to follow, but as soon as she landed, Lydia spun in a way Kael wasn’t expecting. Only his special reflexes managed to save him from the strike meant for his head, but there was no time to be idle, since Lydia kept going relentlessly. Kaelan managed to dodge most of her strikes, except for an unexpected and fast thrust that broke his defenses and brushed his side, ripping away some of his brown robes. Like a dance, he thought as she managed to drive him backwards, now on full offensive. Move with her flow, not against it, like water. His Master’s words almost seemed to come to live as the battle raged on. Her rhythm wasn’t easy to find, since her style was considerably aggressive and sometimes unorganized. Until…
I have him on the run, thought Lydia, happy to see she was improving for a change. But then she saw him close his eyes, even if it was for a second. It wasn’t clear for her what happened after, she was only sure that her left slash failed to hit his target, that she felt one of his legs on the back of hers, following those events, the world swirled around her until she felt the floor against her back. The tip of his weapon was pointing at her forehead when she opened her eyes again. Lydia sighed after the fact she lost became clear, slapping the weapon away with a smile, and accepting Kael’s hand, which lifted her back to her feet. Both friends laughed after putting away the weapons and sitting in one of the large mats in the room, normally meant for training. Lydia looked at Kael, who was covering his face with his forearm while lying on his back –“Wasn’t there something you were supposed to do? Something about…”- The Jedi Knight cursed to himself before rushing to his feet –“The mission!!”- He ran off while Lydia barely kept herself from laughing –“Take a shower first!!”-
OCC Notes:
Taro’mien: It is more of a lifestyle than training or fighting technique. It is divided into three parts. 1- Taro’mien Roh, it focuses on the body. It forbids the consumption of alcohol, drugs, some types of meat and other unhealthy substances. It demands a very strict diet and exercise routine. Its objective is for the user to reach the maximum of physical condition possible for that individual. 2- Taro’mien Nhal, it focuses on the mind. It requires usual meditation and special mind exercises. Its objective it to make your mind impenetrable, not to affect others mind, so it is merely defensive, but very effective. And Taro’mien Jheen, it focuses on the advanced kinetic use of the Force during combat, and how to surpass the limits of your body by using the Force (Force Valor)
Nerik is not really a Darth, he just called himself one.
I suck at looking for good pictures, and I don't have much time now, so if you want to picture him, I guess young Tom Cruise would work? Kinda? Well, it's just so you get a general idea.
