Greetings greetings all around!
My name is Thomas, however TCP will do perfectly fine. I am new here, obviously, but I am not an infant when it comes to cleverly writing up clever paragraphs by the hordes. However, it has truthfully been some time since I was last described as a 'frequent rper.' I am positive that I am a little rusty, however after a quick polish and some spit an shine I'll be back into the swing of things!
And although I could have gone to any roleplaying site, I have chosen the one many of you call home for a number of reasons. Firstly, I LOVE Star Wars as much as the next person, even if my ultimate knowledge of it primarily comes from the movies. I have begun reading, to create an even broader horizon. And out of the other sites I had looked at, I found the plot here most interesting. There are other little oddities as well as this site mentioning having 'mentors' which I know I will highly appreciate to figuratively bark at me when I type something that may not make sense. All in all, this place really does look like the most promising.
A little about me... where do I begin? Well I suppose I could start off mentioning that my first days writing out stories were with my friends back in middle school, using what very limited knowledge we had at the time of HTML, and PHP, to make a very minimalistic, black and white site tucked away in my ancient G4 Imac. Although writing on paper, and using Notepad also were the norm for us, when we had the chance we would transcribe or paste our works onto the home brewn server. Back then I regrettable had a very poor writing level, I was born with a communications impediment, which hindered my verbal speech, and partially influenced where my fingers landed on the keyboard. It was painfully earned, but after a few years of making a few items we eventually found the proboards god and made a little hidden section in cyberspace. The plot was there, however our little minds would not cover the entire slice of bread with buttery goodness.
After ninth grade, both my reading and writing sky rocketed. I was able to understand, and express so much, and accurately! It was beautiful, and as I wanted to explore more and more I visited a number of places, many of which were under the proboards banner. It affected my school grades, to the point where I would occasionally miss out on homework just to ensure there was progress in another realm. IMVU was another place, and although it is filled with single liners, broken sentence structure, and horrid English. There were still many like me who enjoyed writing as much as we possibly could in mere minutes, many which exceeded paragraphs. It was here I learned a little more about anatomy with the visual assistant IMVU can provide, and helped fortify my understanding in what others said with their descriptions.
These are very good memories.
But, reality swept in, school was over, and the economy was not at it's greatest. I had a hard time landing that job, and took advantage of the many temp agencies in order to travel and see a plethora of places. Between work and online schooling my dedicated time to roleplay was smothered. At times I had even lost the drive, and wondered where I would go next, what would be the next chapter, and will I ever write like I once did again.
Time had passed, and slowly but surely I am getting back, and I could not see it any more fitting than to start anew in a galaxy far far away...
