Name: Kaen Erdos Solas
Race: Male Human
Age: 21
Birthplace: Dantooine
Allegiance: Republic
Status: Soldier (Army)
Rank: Private First Class
Height/Weight: 6'8''/210lb
Appearance: Kaen barely stands out from among the battle-scarred veterans in the Republic Army, his and brown hair, parted in the center to keep it from covering his face, on top of his gentle features do not give the appearance of a burly soldier, yet his right eyebrow has a tattoo with the symbol of the Republic Infantry, a common sight among privates. He has a tall, but athletic frame under his military-grade armor, muscles from his training at the Academy.
When in combat, he wears his armor and blaster, looking like any soldier on duty, he'd be hard to recognize when off-duty, especially with the gentle smile and determined eyes under all the equipment. His voice is young, with a tinge of roughness on it. Not raspy, but only slightly grave. He has no noticeable scars or blaster wounds on any part of his white skin, truly an inexperienced soldier.
Personality: Kaen has been in the Army for little over two years, seeing barely any action or having good men die around him. Thus, as many young upstarts who signed on after the Sith made their move, he'd be considered naive and idealistic. He greets everyone with respect, especially his ranked superiors. Nobles, Politicians and Royalty are treated as well as any good non-hostile civilian he'd meet. He is humble, and open to meeting any people, working to not insult anyone. He is a patriot, believing the Republic is the best chance everyone protected by it has a chance to survive the onslaught by the Sith. Thus, he has an unwavering loyalty and a strong mental fortitude.
His treatment of Jedi, and non-dark force users, however, can be considered ridiculous. As many lowly civilians and farmers from small, rural worlds, he sees the Jedi as demigods. Paragons of good who will fight for the weak, aided by the mythical Force. He will never compare himself to a Jedi in terms of skill, believing any individual Jedi is light-years above him in skill, strength and wisdom.
Ships/Vehicles: None.
Equipment: Pvt. Solas wears Military-Grade Standard-Issue Plastoid Armor, it has a built-in light and offers good protection against blaster fire and explosions. The armor is complete with an All-Purpose Helmet with breather and radio speakers. He carries a Republic Blaster Rifle, which is capable of single, burst and full auto fire. He has a scoped Cerean Blaster Pistol as a side-arm and a belt with Explosive, Sticky and Concussion Grenades. Attached to this belt is also a vibroknife and power cells for reloading. He carries a holovid for short-range communication.
When not in his armor, he carries his blaster pistol and his holovid as well as his vibroknife. He is dressed in his uniform in most situations.

Biography: Kaen was born in the outer-rim world of Dantooine, amongst it's green pastures and peaceful air. He was part of a farming community alongside his father, mother and brother. His parents were simple people to most, farmers with small lands and small dreams. That was hardly the truth. His father, Elainn Solas, constantly taught young Kaen that a whole life of hard work was better than a single day of cheating. These words echoed in his heart for his whole lifetime, dedicating himself to living a honest life. His mother, Sharrá, was very different. She admitted once to Kaen that she was a politician, hailing from Naboo. How did she end up a farmer's wife is anybody's guess.
Kaen did not think much of farming life, he had friends amongst the Dantooinans, mostly humans and the Twi'Lek family nearby. He never fancied himself important, which often was confused with lack of confidence. This did not get him much female company, and little desire for it. Though he always enjoyed the quiet of Dantooine. The long plains and lack of large buildings made him feel truly free. He'd often relax under the lukewarm sunlight after a day's work. He thought he'd live and die a Dantooinian farmer, and he did not mind that much.
Destined to little more than a good harvest, his life took it's first turn when his brother, Kaithan was discovered by the Jedi to be Force-Sensitive. His own little brother, no more than 6 years old had left the peaceful life of farming to become one of the protectors of peace and good in the galaxy. He couldn't be more proud.
Kaithan was taken to the nearby recently rebuilt temple in Dantooine to begin his training. It was on the same world as his home, but nowhere near their farm on the outskirts. He, however was never allowed to see his brother. "Avoid attachment" he was told. He respected the Jedi's rules, who was he to go against their wishes? Yet he sorely missed his kin. He knew almost nothing of the Jedi and his brother had left to become one of the mysterious guardians. It left a bittersweet feeling on his stomach as the years had gone by.
With his brother in his mind, going through the Jedi training, so did Kaen redoubled his efforts. He did not think it fair for his little brother training to become the strongest force in the galaxy while he relaxed on his simple life. He took over the use of the complex machinery used in the farm, giving his aging father a lighter load. He braved the Kath Hound-infested territory to retrieve missing droids from his neighbors. And once he stood in front of a blaster aimed at a close friend who could not give the Mandalorian Bounty Hunter the whereabouts of his quarry. Luckily nobody was hurt.

The Sith Empire had launched a suprise attack on Republic space, it's armed forces and evil Jedi invading the planet within minutes. Kaen, who was now 19, had no combat experience, but nonetheless he never hid, helping his neighbors and family on the run to the military outpost where they could be safe. Surely the soldiers would help.
It was no use, orbital fire decimated the anti-air turrents, and bombers made short work of the rest. The military outpost was turned to rubble, only Kaen and a few others surviving for what seemed like days. Refusing to give up, he slowly pushed his way through, avoiding notice from the Sith troops who would show him and any civilians no mercy. He considered fighting them, which would obviously end in his death, but he had a duty to protect the others who were with him. They had to live.
For 4 days and 4 nights, Kaen fled towards the Jedi Temple. It was the best chance he had for safety. His companions mentioned an off-world shuttle they could take there. It was the best bet. However, he was dissapointed when he found the Jedi Temple, in ruins and guarded by the dark Jedi aligned to the Sith Empire. He was filled with rage, hearing rumors about newly captured slaves, apprentices to the Jedi who would be taken deeper into Empire space.
Kaithan was alive! This knowledge alone filled him with motivation as he once again fled. Eventually, they all made it to Fort Beladam, the last Republic-controlled outpost in Dantooine. Not without trouble, however as the Sith armies, intending to leave no witnesses of their armed forces on Dantooine, had their armies gathering near the fort. Kaen and some of the few of the younger men and women were forced to fight them. With a little risk and ingenuity, they stole a crate of Sith blasters. Kaen quickly figured out their mechanism and with his guidance they launched a surprise attack on a smallest patrol they could find. Afterwards the emergency militia headed to the Fort before the rest of the Sith forces caught up to them.
The commanding officer in the area, surprised there were survivors, commended Kaen and the others who were brave enough to fight Sith soldiers, asking all of them if they were to sign up to Republic Armed Forces. Kaen, surprised but honored for the commendation took it without hesitation, leaving for Ord Mantell that night towards the Republic Academy and turn himself into someone who could find his lost brother.
His Drill Sergeant told him he was a natural with a blaster, the rest of his talents followed naturally. During his training, which was extended for two years to cover assault specialization and demolitions, he grew truly loyal to the Republic. Hearing wins and losses across the galaxy. He refused Spec Ops admission so he could see some combat first-hand. He fought a few battles in the Outer Rim, giving the Republic much needed victories in the war.
For his duty and unwavering honor, he was awarded his first promotion, Private First Class. While his duties never changed much, he was commended for various choices in his station. He immediately chose Coruscant, the seat of the Republic and the Jedi Order. He wished to establish early relations with the Jedi, who may help him find his brother eventually.
Roleplay Sample:
Kaen looked up at the large structure in front of him. The tall statues of golden rock depicted ancient Jedi, their faces hidden under their hoods. Coruscant was always so progressive, so fast, but this temple made time come to a stop. It was quiet, only the gentle purrs of the passing civilian speeders around the temple, always in a rush to reach their destinations. He started walking up the steps, wondering if the lightly-robed men would immediately attack him for walking close to the temple in full armor. Yet, why would they? He was a soldier of the Republic. On official business too. His face was covered by his helmet, which hid his nervous face as he could clearly see the Jedi's features.
"Welcome to the Jedi Temple, sir."
The Jedi on the left asked with an experience voice. He wore light robes with a hooded coat, dyed brown. He had a professional smile on his face. Kaen nodded and responded to man, his voice distorted by the radio of his helmet. He extracted a few papers from his equipment pack and showed them to him. It was his official transference note.
"Thank you, Master Jedi."
The man tried to his his smirk as he was addressed as master. It was done usually, by all outside the Order. They just didn't know. The Jedi carefully observed the papers and gestured at the soldier to follow. Kaen dutifully followed.
"More men to keep the Enclaves safe? It is good the Republic keeps working to aid the Order."
Kaen smiled under his helmet. He almost felt mean not showing the man his face. He was not shy, just...humbled. Not sure he should disgrace the man. He elected to keep it on.
"The Jedi hardly need the help from us soldiers, I bet. I'll do my best to not keep you from your duties, sir."
The Jedi smiled once more, his light steps on the corridor as they arrived into a training room, full of children with practice sabers, blocking attacks from a droid armed with a low-powered blaster.
"As you learn from us, Soldier. Your opinion will change, I'm sure. The barracks are in the 2nd floor. I bid you farewell."
Kaen was left with that, standing alone and looking at the elderly Jedi teaching the young. He nodded confidently to him before he turned to look for his post and CO. Maybe, just maybe the Jedi were not so nigh-impossible to reach.
