Name: Hugo Legrange
Race: Human
Age: 25
Birthplace: Balmorra
Allegiance: Independent, Sith Empire (Loosely)
Status: Dark Jedi
Rank: Apprentice
Height/Weight: 5,11 215 lbs
Appearance: Hugo is slightly above average height for a human male. He is quite muscular due to years of physical training, strength training in particular, but he is lean like an athlete instead of bulky like a body builder. He sports a slicked-back spiky blonde hairstyle and prefers to wear civilian clothing over any sort of Force-user robes at any given time mainly because he finds them uncomfortable and prefers to blend in to the people around him. He wears his fathers tags virtually everywhere except in the shower. He originally had peach colored skin and light blue eyes, but recently, since he began practicing with the dark side, he found his skin had begun to shift to a peculiar shade of gray. When Legrange is heavily immersed in a negative emotion such as rage, his eyes and skin change along with his dramatic power increase, his eyes temporarily shift to a shade of red and orange, changing back only once the power and emotions have dissipated. However any change to his skin or any other part of his body seem to be permanent; a consequence of his heavy usage of the dark side.
Personality: Hugo at first appears very laid-back, he has no problems with a person until they express a problem with him and he has no qualms about approaching strangers. He’s a very driven individual; if he wants something done then more often than not he’s going to give it his all until it gets done. After his master began experimenting on him, Hugo’s emotional output was heightened beyond that of a normal human. When before he would only get a little angry, he’ll now become furious, if he sees a pretty girl it can lead him to outright infatuation if he’s not careful. The unnatural power this aspect brings him has lead him to become particularly self-confident in his abilities despite his age and inexperience. Hugo is distrustful of other Force-users and their motivations, and usually opts to avoid them if he can help it.

Biography:
Hugo Legrange was born on the factory world of Balmorra to a human couple in a tent on a muddy, rainy day. His father was a travelling medic for a mercenary company. All that he knew of his mother was that she was a human with the power of the Force running through her blood, and that she left him and his father immediately afterwards and hasn't been seen or heard from since. With no other extended family to live with, his father was forced to bring his newborn child with him as his company traveled around the galaxy, settling various conflicts with a blaster, when money and diplomacy could not. At best, there would be a medical station where his father could leave him while he went off to fight, in the worst cases, the baby would sit in a hidden basket in the back of an alley, and his father could only pray that the child would be there when he returned. It was a hard, hungry life for a toddler, but the child eventually grew out of the basket.
Hugo was a quiet child growing up. He never made any friends because he was constantly traveling, what little schooling he got was from his father during the flights between worlds unless the company stayed on for a longer operation, during which he was actually allowed to attend public schooling with other children his age for a few weeks or if he was lucky maybe even a whole month. Of course, socialization with other young people wasn’t always a good thing for Hugo and a lot of times he would end up secluded, left out by the others because he was new, or there would be bullies and he would get into fights and no one would want to talk to him. Despite this, he was still happy whenever he was able to live life like a normal child, even if only for a little bit.
It was also during these schooling years, between the ages of 6-13 years of age when his connection to the Force truly materialized. At first it was small things, barely noticeable. He would reach for a cup just barely beyond the reach of the tips of his fingers, but it would move a little bit, and he would be able to grab it, or he would be at a school and someone would throw a pen directly at him, yet miraculously it would end up flying over his head instead. As the years went by, the strength of his ability grew stronger and the “miraculous” events became more frequent. Soon his father began to notice these events as well, and when he got older he advised his son to abandon such practices, worried that some Force user would notice and attempt to take his son away from him. So Hugo avoided using his abilities in public as best he could, but in secret he continued to practice.
As Hugo entered into his teen years and his father got older they started looking for a place where they could settle down. His father had saved up enough credits from his mercenary work to buy a small property on Dantooine for them. Hugo would live there, but farm work was not for his father, who would ship off back onto the battlefields, and send home portions of his pay for his son to live off of. Hugo was alone once again. Alone on possibly one of the most boring planets in the galaxy. There was no one for miles, just him, dangerous animals, and a lot of grass. So Hugo would wander around the plains looking for ways to entertain himself, trying to get himself into any trouble he could. On the rare occasions that his father did return, he would teach him about being a field medic, the only thing he really knew, and Hugo caught on quick with his father eventually telling him “you’re better at this then I am”. During the long times when he was alone, he would practice his abilities, mainly lifting and moving pebbles and rocks. Eventually, his freedom to pursue the Force led him to a special place.
He found a cave. He was almost drawn in by it. Inside it was dark, but bright crystal formations lit the halls. It was a peaceful place, even more so then the rest of Dantooine, and it was here that he bumped into a woman. She sat at the back of the cave silently, meditating, but she spoke to Hugo even though he hadn't announced his arrival, even though he had been moving as silently as he could, wary of the dangerous wildlife of Dantooine. At first, Hugo was wary of her as well, everyone knew all about the Jedi, how you were on one side or the other, and her flowing black cloak and hood was enough for him to judge her. But she told him that she was neither, that she was a scientist first and a Jedi second, and she asked the 14 year old boy for his help. Though distrusting of her, he agreed to her proposition, thinking that it could be more interesting than wandering the plains for years like he had been before. He took it rather lightly, not realizing how much his “help” would change him.
Every morning he would return to that cave, and every day she would ask him to sit beside her, to close his eyes. She never told him her name, and he never told her his. And then…she would do nothing, but speak. She would ask him questions, and he would answer, and then they would sit for hours. Somehow, Hugo didn't find any of this to be boring or uneventful. Maybe it was because after years of seclusion, he finally had someone even close to a friend. Another sentient being who wanted to see him and wanted to talk to him every day. It was almost as if Hugo had a friend for the first time in his life, even though he knew she wasn't really. She showed so much interest in him, asking him questions about every single aspect of his life, of his personality, of his outlook, that it somehow felt like she didn't care about him at all. She would dissect everything he said, tell him why he felt the way he did about so many things, most of which came back to his father and his childhood, or the lack of one. Hearing these things would make him angry, or they would make him want to cry, and he would cry, and often at that. They would do this every day, every day of every week of every month of every year for years. The only days off Hugo got were when his father would return, and those were short and sporadic at best. He told his father nothing of the woman or the cave, and his father was none the wiser. Then he would ship off again and Hugo would return to the cave.
This had continued into his 18th year, and he had noticed changes inside himself taking place. He had always tried to stay cool and calm, but lately he had been having these strange outbursts. Emotions would well up inside his chest and the atmosphere around him would change to these emotions. They were growing more frequent with each passing day, and they worried him. But when he brought his worries to the woman in the cave she told him that they were a good thing, that the training was succeeding and they were making good progress. Then that progress was stunted. Hugo returned to his property one night to find a notice at his doorstep. His father had been killed, shot on the battlefield while tending to a comrade’s injuries. He received from his father’s will one set of busted up old armor, one blaster, and the last of his father’s contracted pay, which wasn't much. He cried for days. This was the only time the woman in the cave let him get close. He would cry on her shoulder for hours, and she would say nothing, meditating as she always had.
The next day he came to the cave and for the first time she stood before him at the entrance. She told him that she had enjoyed their time together for the past few years but now it was time for him to make a decision about his future. She held out a lightsaber in one hand and told him that now that he was a man, and that his only guardian was gone he had but two options: he would return to his life as a normal person, maybe go off-world, maybe stay and be a farmer. She would undo all she had done to him with her experiments and she would leave him forever. Or he could take the lightsaber from her hand, and accept her as his master, and she would train him in the ways of the Force as she saw fit. It only took but a moment of hesitation before he took up the scepter she held to him…and was immediately floored by the sheer weight of the thing. He looked up at her, amazed that a woman who looked so brittle could carry such a thing in one hand like it was nothing. Then he stood again before her, and she smiled.
After that they would walk the plains, he hesitated to call it wandering because she always seemed to know exactly where they were going. Hugo had at first been rather eager for her to teach him the ways of the blade, so he was rather disappointed when she would take him about each day to perform menial tasks and hard labor. Sometimes she would take him to his neighbors to help with things like yard work, lifting and carrying things, other times it would be simply picking up stones and boulders and carrying them while they walked. She would speak to him while he worked, about the different styles of lightsaber combat, basic ideas and more advanced concepts, things Hugo thought he should have been hearing while swinging some sort of sword around. This practice continued for many months until eventually he just couldn't take it anymore. He confronted his teacher about her methods, told her he felt like they were accomplishing nothing. She only smiled at him, which enraged him further, until she once again held out her lightsaber to him. He took it from her, and for but a moment he held it easily as she had. Only as his rage began to subside did the immense weight begin to affect him, and he was forced to catch it with his other hand to keep from dropping it, but now he could carry it and he realized what his master had been training him for. To be able to carry this blade of ridiculous weight. She told him "even with such meager frustration you were able to carry that blade with ease. Now we must allow you to feel that anger at will, so that you can carry it any time you wish."
So their training escalated, and Hugo finally got what he wished. She continued to teach him of the blade every day. He would arrive at dawn eager and excited, and he would leave each night long after the sun set achy and worn out and would often collapse to sleep immediately at his home. Only on days when he was too sick or physically and mentally exhausted to continue would he be allowed to rest. These days were the best ones Hugo had ever had, but years pass like days when you're enjoying yourself and he eventually found himself celebrating his 24th birthday. Since his teen years he had improved enough that he could hold the lightsaber in just one hand without his primal emotions to help him, though it felt slow and heavy when he did this. He had been taught, rather then to push it away, to remember things that had made him angry in his life, and to feel such rage at any opportunity. He would have been happy with his progress if he wasn't so concerned for his master, who's health had been slowly deteriorating. For a while she had found it hard to stand to her feet, and now she was unable to raise herself from her bed in the cave. She revealed to him that she had been sick and dying since long before she met him. She told him there was not much left for her to teach him, that to learn more he would have to survive and experience life himself. She gave him her lightsaber and told him now it was his. She told him that as a scientist her experiment had been a success, and that his blade work could still use some work, and where he could find the few items she owned that she would leave to him, obviously trying to quickly vent everything she had left to say to him. Then she told him something that he didn't expect to hear, she told him that she cared for him very much and wished she could have been a better mother to him. She died a few days later in her sleep, her last words to him were to "be careful, but not too careful." Hugo spent the next year collecting together everything that he owned that had been left to him by his father, things like owned valuables and properties, most of which he sold for he had no intention of staying on Dantooine any longer. He didn't have any real idea what he wanted to do next, he wanted to see new places and meet new people for he knew so few. Maybe he would go out and see adventure like his father had, maybe he would go somewhere like Korriban to learn more about the Force, though he didn't know how good of an idea that would be. Most of all he wanted to continue learning the things that his master had been teaching him by following her last order, to survive and experience.
