[This thread takes place after the events in “A Simple Conference.” Enjoy! ]
“…and the section concerning Jedi Healers is just passed those pillars If you need any assistance ask any of the staff.”
The female Zabrak youngling smiled up at Chias in appreciation “Thank you Master Chias.” She bowed then quickly moved off to the sector of the Jedi Archive that the young Echani had sent her to.
She bit her bottom lip as she watched the child go, her mind drifting back over the last year that had passed.
She was a Knight of the Order and was classified as a Historian amongst their ranks. But she had only been Knight for three years and very soon it would be four. It had been significant because she had forced herself to go outside the Temple experience what the universe had to offer. Dorin, Naboo, and even the harsh world of Boz Pity all these places she had seen and the experiences she went through forced her to come out of her shy shell.
She had fought mercenaries and mutants, attended peace conferences and defended Queens against assassins, seen abandoned Temples that none had set foot in millennia. And most of these so called ‘adventures’ happened to her by chance or being by dragged into them…sometimes literally but through them she had made some of her first friends.
Mal Denton, the Sauvé yet kind bodyguard of Junior Senator Irrina Icharus and her impulsive but loyal droid Ofi whom Chias had also become acquainted with.
Rekio Shea, the brash yet bold Jedi whom she was teamed with to save Senator Icharusu, Chias had sent message to the Wroonian Knight to perhaps have a meal or tea with but as expected there had been no reply.
Tesok Barnar, the imposing Barabel Jedi Sentinel who she shared her first ever mission with to Dorin. She had kept in regular contact with for a while but the messages became fewer and fewer as the months went on.
Chias took no offense however; the life of a Sentinel was often a solitary existence and they rarely stayed at the Temple for long. Perhaps that was why his padawan Jifo Riou left his service after only a short time. The last Chias had heard he had found a new Master and was on Ilum completing his Trails.
Out of all of the new people she had met however the one she was most thankful for was Torguta padawan Alaari Sen. The two had met in the Archive late one evening and quickly became close friends.
She accompanied her to Naboo to record a peace conference between warring factions of the Naboo Monarchial government which lead them to find a secret plot against the young Queen by her own inner circle. The two thwarted the plot and saved the planet from falling into the hands of the Empire.
What Chias did not expect however…was falling in love with Alaari. Like most thing in her life, it came without warning through the course of their time together on Naboo they grew closer and closer and it was only after Chias nearly defending her friend from a Cathar assassin they she admitted her feelings and acted on them.
While they both knew it was one of the greatest violations of the Jedi Code they continued to see one another and so far they had been no complications or discovery. At first Chias was terrified and considered ending it right then and there.
Being a Historian she had read the countless stories of Jedi Knights following their passions and falling prey to the Dark Side of the Force, how those passions turned into ambition and hatred and twisted them into dark Sith warriors or Lords.
But to Chias’ surprise…she felt none of those things. There was no sense of growing anger or rage, she did not want to become powerful or destroy the Jedi Order. All she felt was a deep connection with another being that made her feel safe, happy and needed, it was that connection that made want to keep serving the Order and make the Republic a safer place…nothing more. While it was hard to lie to her Master and friends, she knew it was the only way that she and Alaari could stay together. Or at least she prayed it was.
She looked over and saw the scattered holo journals the youngling had left behind shaking her head lightly as she sighed and gathered them and began to walk toward to the sector where they belonged.
It was then she heard of all things…snoring. She tucked the journals under her white sleeved arm as she made her way down between the two book cases, her pale bare feet masking her approach as she emerged to find a sleeping Selonian padawan at one of the study tables. His furry feet were place on the table as his head was slumped on his chest as he snoozed.
Chias sighed and shook her head slowly; it was not uncommon thing to see in the Archive. While most padawans or younglings came to study or attend lectures, others came to slack off or avoid their Masters and instructors. It was something she dealt with during her youngling years, her apprenticeship and as a Knight…and it annoyed her just as much as it always had.
She waited a few moments before clearing her throat ...to which the padawan did not even stir...Chias curswed her quiet nature and clear her throat again with a bit more volume to which he final awoke. She smiled, always remembering her curiosities despite her annoyance and trying to remember and she herself was a learner not to long ago.
"Good day padawan." she said bowing politely acting as if she ad just found him so not embarrass the boy. "I trust the day is finding you well?"
