Welcome friends, to my excessively self-aware and ego boosting blog. I really shouldn't expect for you to find anything of consequence here. So if that is what you ventured to this thread to find, might I suggest you toddle along. Go ahead, I'll wait.
Right, well now that they're gone, I'm going to share my frustration with you, my loyal friends, who by the way are invited to my next birthday party... unlike those rude people who actually left. Anyway, I am currently frustrated with my inability to be inspired.
Due to an unfortunate combination of boredom and some inner need to be creative, I have worked myself into a headache of terrible ideas. I actually sat here at my computer, with the notion of creating a thread in the parody section, but all I could come up with was a vague idea of Phoenix writing an ode to her recon. droids. While that might have the potential to be hilarious, one crucial point was lacking. Well two actually. I'm a terrible poet and an even worse comedian. So I apologize if mentioning my idea got your hopes up for a future attempt. It's been balled up and unsuccessfully tossed into a trashcan. It now lies on the floor, a good two feet away from the can, thanks entirely to my pathetic b-ballin' skillz.
But, woe is me, my shallow attempt and utter defeat at writing a parody has not helped my current condition, if anything it has become more desperate than before. I am quite sure that my brain will not cease to throb until the correct sequence of words have found their way from my inner conscious and into the minds of others, at which point they will immediately begin to set up shop and pander t-shirts that commemorate my greatness.
Luckily for you, this will not happen. Why? because words can't possibly make t-shirts. And anyway, digital is the way to go. DVDs would be much more profitable.
This is not the first time this has happened. It is not a regular occurrence, but it has happened enough times that I have recognized the need to find a remedy. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried has worked, at least not entirely. But perhaps I will find success in this experiment. Maybe I've pushed enough words out into the world that my mind will be fooled into thinking that I've accomplished something. I doubt it.
So, if you have made it this far, I embrace you as a fellow do-nothing-with-too-much-time-on-your-hands, and I beg your sympathy and forgiveness while I search through the medicine cabinet for something that might dumb me down for a while.

Anyone else here like Poptarts? Well, even if you don't you might find this interesting:
The singular form of Poptarts is... Poptarts. That's right, as in "I would like one Poptarts please". I know this because some friends of mine and I got into a debate about this. How? I don't know, but it ended with a friend calling Kellog and asking. The reason why is because in order for the company to own the rights to "Poptart" they'd have to pay for it as a separate word from"Poptarts" or something like that. "Poptart" is still protected because it is almost exactly the same as "Poptarts" and so buying the rights is pretty much uneccessary.
Don't you feel better knowing this? I did too. You're welcome.

You're very welcome! Ready for more?
Barack Obama and Brad Pitt are ninth cousins. Wanna know what else? Angelina Jolie and Hillary Clinton are ninth cousins twice removed!
Don't you worry, I'm not bringin politics in here... unless you specifically ask me what my opinion is on our current presidential candidates, in which case I would oblige. But on the whole, I rather enjoy keeping politics out of my conversations simply because I've encountered far too many people who become personally offended when someone disagrees with their views. I find it easier to avoid the topic all together.
On another note, I believe a stray dog has taught my dog how to open the gate to the yard. See, my boyfriend and I are keeping a stray that his friend found at our house because we have a fenced-in yard and his friend, who wants to keep the dog, does not... yet. While this is great for Koda, my dog, and the stray, it is not so great for the flower beds. And on top of that, the gate has mysteriously been opening every now and then. My boyfriend was more than happy to blame this on me, seeing as how the first two times it happened was overnight and I had been the last one to go through the gate.
HOWEVER!, it happened again yesterday upon my return home from work. And this time, it was HE who was the last to go through the gate. So naturally, rather than claim the fault as his own, he decided that it must have been one of the dogs. Luckily, the dogs didn't run away. We did, however have a second stray dog hanging around on the porch when I got home. I was fairly sure it was the neighbor's dog, so I shooed him away in that direction and he hasn't been back since.
Now, I am quite sure that this is the doing of the stray dog we are keeping for my boyfriend's friend, and I will list my reasons:
1. Koda spends the days outside, and has never opened the gate before.
2. Koda sleeps inside and the first two times the gate mysteriously opened were at night when the stray who we do not let inside has been with us. (we leave the door to our "mud room" open so that she can sleep inside, but she doesn't come into the actual house)
3. Koda isn't exactly... smart.
But soon my boyfriend's friend will have his fence up and the gate opening stray will no longer be our problem. She's cute and all, but Koda is a handfull as it is.

It happened again! Those silly dogs. Ok, so we actually have 3 gates into the yard, two normal ones and then one big one that is actually two gates that open wide enough for a car to go through.
Anyway... My boyfriend put some type of wire through the lock hole for the gate those dogs have been opening. It's a terrible inconvenience because now to get out of the yard, I have to untwist the wire, go through the gate while keeping the dogs on the inside, and then retwist the wire.
He apparently didn't bother with the other gate, seeing as how we never use it and since he hasn't used th weed-whacker over there in quite a while, it's hard to open with all the grass in the way.
Well, apparently it's not THAT hard to open, because as I was coming up the drive, the dogs were not in the yard but instead running down the drive to meet me. I should have run over that stray, but that would make our friend unhappy so I had to be kind.
And guess what!? That second stray was back, though not in the yard this time. And he was hanging around outside the fence this morning too. We're not feeding him, so the only explanation I can think of is that he likes the company.
*sigh* Well, my boyfriend put wire on the other fence... so the only thing I should expect to see when I get home later today would be that they opened the big fence (which would be extremely impressive and just a little suspicious as it requires more than simply lifting the latch) and that they're having a party with all the strays in the area.
And of course, as I'm usually the first one home, I'm sure I'll also have to deal with a fair bit of blame. C'est la vie.

Yesterday, the lady that lives across the street from us came by to ask if that stray that shows up randomly was Koda. Not very surprising, seeing as how the last time she came over Koda was still fairly small and actually looked like a lab (he'd a black lab wolf mix... so he actually looks quite a bit like a black german shepherd). Anyway, she's an animal horder... as in She has 13 dogs because she takes in strays... and who knows how many cats. But she's married and sociable, so she doesn't fit the mold of a crazy cat lady.
Well turns out she knew a guy that might like to keep the stray, so she loaded him up and took him away! See! I didn't have to run anything over!! Now just to get the female stray over to my boyfriend's friend's house, and life can go back to normal!
My boyfriend build a dog house for Koda. It's nice, with a shingled roof and everything. We're gonna paint it this weekend, but we don't know what color/s. Any ideas?
I've come to the realization that I somehow got it into my head that my stories about our dog mishaps might actually be of interest... sorry. But I unfortunately have no other interesting things to talk about. Unless you want to hear about our ducks. They're mildly amusing but I think that is only true when you see them rather than hear about them. Yeah, laterz!

I have a colour suggestion.
Pink.
Everything looks good in pick. Except, y'know, most things.
Don't expect me to make any sort of sense.

I actually suggested pink... but my boyfriend just looked at me like I was crazy. So I suggested camo, thinking that he, being the hunting type, would like that. But no, he didn't. Then he started thinking like the goofy... slightly perverted boy that he is and said he should just paint "boom boom room" on the side of it. I reminded him that Koda is fixed and that would just depress him. By the way, our dog can read. We settled on a light tan and brown for the trim. It looks good. Plain, but good. Maybe if I ever get my cat I'll get him a little house that's pink with yellow dots and purple stripes. I've already got a name picked out, which is why it has to be a boy. I will name my cat (but I must mention that it is highly unlikely that I will ever get one ) Finnegan.

Want to hear (or I guess read) something freaky!? Sure you do! Ok, the other night, I had this dream where my friend and I were shopping. We were looking at earings when I checked my watch (I never wear a watch... that's what my cell phone is for, but for some reason I had a watch on) and I saw that it was 3:16. I totally flipped out because I was late for work (I work from 2-6). Well, apparently I freaked out enough to wake myself up. Realizing it was just a dream, I laid my head back down on the pillow. Then I rolled over and squinted (I wear contacts... so I couldn't see well) at the clock. Guess what time it was? I kid you not, it was 3:16. I know, your mind is blown. THEN, later on, I had another dream! This one is not freaky, just funny. Ok, so in the dream, I was at my mom's house, but it wasn't really her house. You know how it is with dreams. So anyway, her house has land and they have 3 horses. Well, in the dream there were no horses, but out in the pasture, there were a few corral type pen things, and in them, elephants! So I was outside petting one of the elephants when all of the sudden, the one in the next pen got PISSED. It started running itself into the fence trying to break through. So I bolted for the house and when I got inside, my boyfriend was there. He asked what was going on and I was all "The elephants got out!" and he was like "Oh that sucks." Then I looked out the window, and two cheetahs were walking around the front of the house and I was like "Aww crap! The cheetahs got out too!!" Then I woke up. Edit: I almost forgot. If you've read my other posts on this blog (which of course you have ) You know about how the gate to my yard opened like a gazillion times. Well, that stray we were taking care of is gone and that other stray found a home (I guess) but our gate still opened one night. Well, turns out there's this OTHER dog that has been going around opening gates in the neighborhood. I know... I SAW him!!! He's trying to round up a gang I think. But yeah, thought I'd share that.

Happy fall everyone! I love this half-season time... Summer/fall and spring/ summer are my favorite times of the year. Not too hot, not too cold, not too dry, not too rainy... and seeing as how I live in tornado alley, it's also not tornado season (that last part applies more for summer/fall than spring/summer).
Anywho, the beginning of fall does have one drawback, but it comes as part of a good thing. What's that good thing? TV. What's the drawback? TV. Yep, some of those lovely shows are coming back, but it means I become something of a couch potato again. Luckily for me, it's not thaaaat bad. It's not like I have 50 shows to watch or anything. I'm just dedicated to some.
It starts tonight with Heroes... that oh so crazy series that I hate and love and hate and love some more. It's quite terrible really, but come ON! SUPER POWERS! And it's a 2 hour premire!
And then Thursday the big one hits. Grey's Anatomy (cue the theme song). If I ever have to stop watching shows, this will be the last one I stop watching. I love it for the same reason I sometimes crave chocolate... because I have ovaries. That one will also be two hours and anyone that knows me knows not to disturb me during that time.
It was strange... going the summer without a show that I specifically follow. my friend and I used to watch 4400 in the summer... because it was a summer series. But apparently not enough people shared our love for the show and so it was uncerimoniously scraped. No loose ends tied up, no plots finished, just gone. *sigh*
So now I'm going to be thrown back into my habits of waiting on edge for shows each week... especially for Grey's. You might all soon notice that I get antsy and dorky...er, as it gets closer and clsoer to Thursday night.
So please bear with me. If you do not enjoy the shows... you might have to find yourself reading someone else's blog for awhile (Jenno's is quite nice). It's not that I obsesively blog about the show, I just tend to bring it up.
Love and Memories, Meira

Alright people... crazy dream story time!!!!
So in my dream, myself, my friend, and her boyfriend were at a hospital. Apparently her boyfriend had gotten a job there or something. Anywho, my friend goes into the bathroom and immediately comes back out. She looks all scared and when I ask her what's wrong she says there's a ghost, and that she knows she knows who the ghost is of, but when she tries to think of the name, she can't.
So I follow her into the bathroom and sure enough, there's this ghost in the mirror. Who's the ghost? Me. That's right folks, I saw my own ghost in a dream! So ghost me says something bad is gonna happen and me and my friend freak out and run out of the bathroom. Every time we do, we see someone we know and we bring them in. They get scared, ghost me says something bad is gonna happen, and we all run out. This happens a few times, then me and all the people are in a room talking about what it could mean. Well, I leave for some reason and go outside and across the street. When I get across, I pass a store (the kind that sells aromatherapy stuff and the like) and in the window, there's ghost me, talking about how something bad is gonna happen. But this time, in the background (but still just in the glass if that makes sense) There's this guy hanging from a noose and flailing his arms and stuff. Also, he's wearing army fatigues.
So I run back to where everyone is and tell them what I saw. Well, the guy in the fatigues is there, and everyone is scared cuz they think he's gonna get hanged. So the whole group goes to see the shop window. But now there's no ghost or anything. Just this lady standing in front of the window who explains that this whole thing has been some type of experiment to study human behavior. Then she thanks everyone for participating and wants to hand out certificates or something.
But I got mad. I started going off about how it was unethical and illegal to do experiments like that. And then I woke up. I hate waking up from an angry dream.
So yeah, another weird dream.

Goooood afternoon everyone! Don't go thinking I've forgotten about this blog thingy. You should all be thankful that I understand that my life is not so interesting as to warrant countless posts about my weird dreams. Now obviously, that's not to say that you may have to suffer reading about them every now and then, but I just wanted you to know that I'm trying to keep it to a minimum. I've also not been remembering my dreams lately, so I couldn't bore you with them, even if I wanted to. I actually wanted to rant about my idiot professor. Well, I guess I can't really call her an idiot... she's got a PhD and like three other degrees of some sort, but honestly... the woman should not teach. I have her for a Theories of Learning class, one that I was very excited about, but now I have to convince myself to go. I've skipped something around half of the classes, and am still on par with everyone else because WE HAVE YET TO REALLY DO ANYTHING! I swear! She's having US teach the actual subject matter TO EACH OTHER! Yesterday, it seemed like we were actually going to do something productive, but how foolish of me to think that. She started us talking about multiple intelligences (Even though this is old hat as I've had this stuff shoved down my throat since 6th grade, it was at least on topic), but instead, we covered a wide range of topics that had nothing to do with theories of learning. We talked about (in no particular order): - The KKK
- Race Riots
- The Civil Rights movement
(Those first three are related, yes, but they were talked about at different times in the class as separate topics) - The Holocaust
- Immigration
- Rwanda
- How we shouldn't be too concerned about the economy crisis
- (The toward the end of class) How we should be very concerned and well informed about the economy crisis
- How it doesn't really matter which guy gets elected president
- (Then toward the end of class) How we should be extremely concerned about who should be the next president
- (Periodically throughout class) How our professor's tooth hurt real bad.
- White dominance in general
- The destruction of Native American culture
Now, while all of these topics (excluding dental problems) are topics that I would readily engage in conversation about, they had NO PLACE in that class, either in general, or as part of what we were supposed to be talking about. We have this class once a week from 10:30 to 1:10. She doesn't usually even get there till almost 11, as was the case yesterday. We didn't even get to the topic of anything remotely involving theories of learning until around 11:15, and then we got off on a tangent that lasted from ohh... about 11:17 until 12:30, got back on topic, then off again at about 12:40, and then she decided we should be allowed to leave early (best thing she said the whole time). And all this after a speech given about two weeks before about how, as college students, we need to take charge in our education because if we're paying for it, we should get the most out of it as possible. I wanted to point this out during the hour long tangent, but how exactly can a white person do that while people are talking about racism and not sound racist? Luckily, by sitting in the back and ignoring most of what was going on, my friend and I were able to get quite a lot of work done on our presentation over Gestalt theory.

I know it's been awhile, my loyal friends. But I've been busy, and my return here is not a happy one.
Read now, my friends, a sad tale of the untimely deaths of three innocent souls, Lucius, Rupert, and Alfie.
This story has it's beginnings back in the early spring of this very year. After having bought a lovely home out in the country, my boyfriend had an idea to purchase an interesting type of pet. He wanted turkeys. And so he set about the task of constructing a pen, on the far side of the garage, which is not connected to the house. Indeed, the garage is a good hundred feet from the house. This pen he constructed consisted of a tin sided (and roofed) shack and an area of about ten feet by twenty feet surrounded by an eight foot tall fence enclosed in chicken wire.
However, when we went to the place where the turkeys were to be purchased, there were none left. Apparently turkeys were fashionable pets at the time and we should have had more forethought to such fads. In any case, an alternative was found in three small forms. We came home that night with ducklings.
Now these ducklings were everything cute should be. I had decided that the lightest colored of the three would be female, and so promptly named it Lucy. She was a yellowish brown color and had a touch of pink to the tip of her bill that looked like lipstick. The other two were near black, one with a yellow bill, whom I named Alfie and the other with a black one, who was named Rupert.
As ducklings, we feared our new pets would be eaten by the hawks or owls that frequented the wooded area around our country escape, and so the three spent their youth within the shack, safe and out of the way. When they were large enough, we gave them free reign of the pen, which my boyfriend had since dubbed the "Duck Fortress" in his confidence that it would never be infiltrated by the pesky coyotes who also haunted the landscape.
And indeed, it seemed the fortress was strong. Our three ducks grew into surprisingly interesting creatures. Rupert grew tall and thin. With research, I decided that he was of a type called Indian Runners, so named for their running gait that differs from the characteristic waddle of a duck. Lucy, it turned out, was more likely a male, and so the name was changed to Lucius. Both Lucius and Alfie had an interesting quality. Upon their heads sprouted nothing short of an afro of feathers. We first assumed that this tuft that crowned the two would be shed as their adult feathers grew in. But in truth, we discovered that this is the distinguishing mark of the Crested Duck.
Lucius maintained a light brown color, with accents of deep green and white on his wingtips. Alfie remained black, with bits of white on his chest and a mist of green forming around his head and wings. Rupert remained as pitch black of ink, and only recently began to show hints of emerald around his head when the light hit him just so.
The three lived happily in their pen, with a wading pool to splash in, until recently when a mysterious hunter changed our lives forever.
This terrible progression of incidences began only the day after my boyfriend left home to visit family in New York. He would be gone for a week. On his second day gone, I spoke to him on the phone and he had asked me to check on the duck's food supply. When I did, I noted before even opening the gate that there were a number of feathers strewn about the pen. Upon entering, I found no sign of poor Lucius, and realized with a great degree of disbelief that something must had gotten into the pen and eaten him. I told my boyfriend of the event, and he was as flabbergasted as I.
The next day brought another death, but more information. Poor Rupert, fast as he was, seemed to fall to the same fate a Lucius. IT was a mystery, however, for there was no sign of anything getting under the fence. And then I saw it. The post that stood as the back right corner of the pen had a trail of blood going up it. Whatever had eaten Lucius and Rupert had climbed over the fence to do so.
In an effort to save Alfie, he was confined to the shack and I did my best to seal it off with chicken wire. But my efforts proved in vain. On the fourth night of my boyfriend's absence, Alfie suffered the fate of his comrades.
However, my boyfriend has now returned from his journey and has made a solemn vow to avenge the deaths of our dear pets. Only time will tell if he is successful. Until then, I wait in sorrow.
In other words... I think a freakin bobcat ate our ducks!

Hmm.... never thought about it... I just call 'em Poptart, when I mean a singular one. But usually it has to be plural, as you get two in one package anyway, haha. PS: My great uncle came up with the idea of putting frosting on 'em.

Anyone else watch Attack of the Show on G4?
I can't get enough of it.
Also....
Parking Warz.
I have some kind of sick fascination with that show. Something about watching other people getting horribly inconvenienced just makes me feel good. Plus, it's always fun to watch stupid people rant about getting a parking ticket. Their lack of brain cells makes me feel proud of my few.

We don't get G4 any more. Yeah, I caught part of a Parking Wars a few weeks ago. It's hilarious.

Hiya folk!
Mmk, the reason why I'm saying this here is because I'm at work and the computers here have filters, which block the cbox for me so.... hopefully people will see this.
We've got weather issues here, and so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get online tomorrow. I was planning on sweeping through my section, as I know many people have been patiently waiting for me to go over their profiles.
As it is right now, it looks like I won't be able to do that tomorrow. I don't have internet at my house, and if the weather continues as it has been, then I don't think I'll be able to get out to get to a computer.
BUT! With our handy Next Gen team, I'm hoping that this can be a not as bad situation as it might have been before. I would first like to thank those members who have taken it upon themselves to help others out. In particular, Gusha and Tieko. You two I notice have been very eager to help others, and it is well noted.
So now I'd like Squee and/or Kay to take a look at some Jedi profiles if they don't mind and giving some preliminary advice. This will help out a lot, so that if I can get on tomorrow, the review process can go much quicker. And if I can't make it to the intertubes, then at least our patient applicants can get some constructive feedback (as if they haven't already! *winkwink*Gusha&Tieko!*winkwink*)
So thank you all for your patience and understanding. Luckily, the weather will be clearing up by wednesday, so all should be back to normal by then.
Cheers! ~Meira

Sorry, I'm just at wit's end
