"Remember, a Jedi fights only as a last resort. If you are forced to draw your lightsaber, you have already forfeited much of your advantage. A Jedi trusts the Force and at first seeks other ways to resolve problems: patience, logic, tolerance, attentive listening, negotiation, persuasion, calming techniques. But there are times when a Jedi must fight."
This is the guide for how the Jedi Order fits into our setting here on SWU. Within you’ll find information on how the Jedi are organized, how they approach the current war, and how they fit in general into the SWU setting. This guide is entirely in regards to the Jedi Order and the site.

Padawans
When a Youngling nears their pre-teen years, their fate is decided by the Jedi Council. By the age of 13 many are sent into one of the divisions of the public service organization, the Jedi Service Corps. Those that have shown the potential for Knighthood though, are taken under the wing of a Jedi as a Padawan.
Padawan learners on SWU are one of the harder character types to start and keep playing on the site. In a galaxy at war, the young Jedi can never stray very far from their master at earlier ages. This makes it difficult for Padawan characters to find threads outside those with their masters and within the Jedi Temples , and thus difficult for new members to get a good foothold within SWU using Padawans as an initial character.
Due to the abundance of Force adept individuals in our era, the Jedi Order is quite large in size. With this, it is common on SWU for Jedi Masters to take up to two Padawans at a single time.
A Padawan cannot be knighted until the age of 22, and after passing the Jedi Trials consisting of Skill, Flesh and Spirit.
Lightsabers
The unofficial badge of the Jedi, the lightsaber is every bit part of being a Jedi as using the Force. Some prefer wielding the classic single hilt, others the exotic double-bladed or lightsaber pike. Most variants of hilts are acceptable for a Jedi to use, with the proper explanation being in their biography. Simply send a staffer a private message if unsure whether a specific hilt is allowed.
Lightsabers come in many colors in our era. From the more common green, blue and yellow to the rarer shades of purple, orange and silver SWU allows nearly all of them. The only colors not allowed are black, clear, ultraviolet and pure white. Most Jedi harvest their crystals from Ilum, where there are mostly green and blue gems. Rare colors will need a well thought explanation for how one’s Jedi found such a scarce crystal.
An act not done easily, crafting a lightsaber more often than not takes months for a first-timer. As diagramed above, there are many components contained in such a small cylinder. It takes time to research and practice tuning each part of the lightsaber, and only one dedicated enough will ever finish theirs. Due to the difficulty and the skill required to craft a lightsaber, this is the most common Jedi Trial of Skill to become a Knight.
The Jedi Temple on Mustafar
Jedi in the Galaxy
In our era the Jedi are spread far and wide through the Galaxy. With the main Jedi Temple being on Coruscant, there are many smaller temples spread throughout the more heavily populated planets. The largest of them being on Mustafar, Tython, Seraphim, Dorin and Ilum. The temples on Dantooine and Rhen Var were both taken by the Sith Order within the past few years.
With this the Jedi are a common site in the galaxy, treated with the usual mix of awe and suspicion by civilians. While many fight on the front lines with the Blades, just as many roam the galaxy assisting the Republic working as mediators, investigators and scientists. A Jedi is always assigned by the Council to wherever they would best serve to aid.
For every youngling chosen as a Padawan, there are dozens more who are instead sent to the various Jedi Service Corps where their talents can be devoted to aiding the Republic in a different way than a Jedi Knight. Those chosen for the Exploration Corps train to become pilots, engineers and scientists devoted towards exploring the galaxy. From uncharted territory on worlds as far into the Unknown Regions, they are commonly seen on the fringes of galactic society. The Educational Corps are more internal to the Jedi made up of teachers, scholars and archivists, though they are known to curate museums and haunt archeological digs. Hospitals, battlefields and refugee camps alike are filled with those of the Medical Corps, doctors and healers alike working to aid a war-ravaged galaxy. The most common, and least seen outside their assigned planet is the Agricultural Corps who work tirelessly to keep the Republic well fed.
The Order and the War
Based out of the world of Seraphim, and lead by Jedi Lord Vreem Took; There are Jedi who have chosen to assist directly with the Republic warfront. These are the Generals, Commanders and Knights all devoted to halting the Imperial invasion and Mandalorian Crusade. While some work as tacticians and leaders, just as many lead squads of valiant Republic troopers on the front lines and general support.
Certain to not repeat the mistakes that lead to the Jedi Civil War generations ago, Jedi are watched carefully by their superiors for any sign of corruption. Meditative circles open to any who wish to join are common, communal support a keystone for the group to aid in finding balance. Thus far the Jedi formerly known as the Blades of the Order have struggled alongside the Republic Military, but have held strong against the push of the Mandalorians and the Empire. With the Jedi High Council split for years on whether the Order should fully commit, the Blades did what they could for the Republic.
Following the Battle of Taris and the subsequent loss of an entire Republic fleet, the Council has now elected to fully aid the Republic. The Blades of the Order disbanded, a unified Jedi Order now supports the Republic’s war-front. Bolstered by a large group of Jedi who heeded the High Council’s former edict, morale has risen considerably with the addition of thousands of Jedi.
