Official Name: E-56 Corvette-class Faction/Affiliation: The Iron Whale Pirates Classification: Corvette Stock/Custom: Custom; stock Corvette hull Dimensions:Height - 29m Width - 57m Length - 126m Manufacturer:Stock Hull - GTL PMC-tech Testing Company Modifications - Emilee Guerish Energy Source: Twin Fusion Reactors Hyper drive rating: 4 Crew Necessity: 46 Armament: 2x Concussion Missile Tubes [72 missiles carried] 2x Medium Laser Cannons 4x Point-Defense Laser Cannons [2 on left; 2 on right; omni-directional] Passenger Capacity: 6 crew; 20 boarding party Cargo Capacity: 50 tonnes Consumables: 1.5 years Hanger Facilities/Starfighter Capacity: N/A Other: Medium Tractor Beam, Boarding Clamp Statistics-Speed: 8 Maneuverability: 6 Effectiveness vs. Starfighters: 6 Effectiveness vs. Capital Ships: 2 Armor: 4 Shielding: 5 Sensors: 6 Reliability: 3 Description/role:Originally created as a prototype super fast corvette for private military companies, it was 'commandeered' by the Iron Whale Pirates from GTL's testing facility and heavily modified to suit the crew's needs.
Fitted with a strong boarding clamp, powerful tractor beam and fast, maneuverable engines, the Baleen is primarily a boarding ship capable of looting freighters and possibly even large capital ships, then escaping before they can be caught. However, their lighter armaments make direct fighting more a show of intimidation than actual firepower, able to destroy fighters and other small ships fairly well but have no weapons that could effectively penetrate the shields and armored hulls of bigger ships. If needed, it has the capacity to store and deploy a small dropship capable of holding a maximum of 12 pirates, meaning it can effectively strike at ground targets as well.
It's big showpiece however is the hyperdrive. An experimental 3.5 speed hypderdrive, over the years Emilee has modified the design to make it more efficient and utilize less energy, however it still puts a drain on the twin fusion reactors on board.

Yo Charisimo. Nice ship. Same if something were to happen to it, eh? But hark! Off in the distance! Some creature of the night come to prey upon our souls! A sea monster? A dragon? A Kardashian! Oh snoes! A review! Women and children first! Oh the humanity! Oh the baseless, ruthless, overwhelmi- *ahem* Right, sorry. On we go. So by SWU standards, this is definitely a smaller corvette, which is fine given what you want it to do. That said, just to alay some small aversion, could you drop its Hyper drive rating to a 4? Most ships that even approach a rating of 3 in this era are more or less just hyperdrives in metal tin cans. Considering that this thing also has to accommodate pirates, guns, armor, shields, and other war-based systems, there’s simply not the energy or the space for that much focus on speed. That said, I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that this thing has an experimental hyperdrive (more on that later). Likewise, that Crew necessity needs to come up quite a bit. This is a warship; we’re talking at least 6 people on the bridge, and at least 4 for every system. As it’s experimental, we should probably tack on even a few more. All and all, I’d say this puppy needs somewhere in the ballpark of 50 guys to run well. In regards to the boarding party, considering that this is a small vessel, the crew itself would probably be your boarding party (especially given they’re pirates). In theory, assuming the corvette can latch the boarding clamp and stay latched, no one should need to operate most of the systems. And again, given your size restraints, I’m not sure that it makes much sense for this thing to have even one Hangar. It’s small enough to land in most spaceports, and it’s got a boarding clamp; carving out hollow space for a docking bay is just more space lost to other systems, dig? Also, for Other, why the backup reactor? Seems a bit moot, especially on a small ship that’s already a bit cramped. Statistics is where we hit a few small snags. I’d say that Shielding needs a one-point decrease, and frankly I don’t see much warranting the current Sensors number; make it a 6. Beyond those two, drop Reliability down to a 3; prototypes are nothing if not bound to break and be hard to fix. Pretty much every repair will be improvised and imperfect. The last thing I can think to ask for is some deeper elaboration on how pirates got into a (presumably top-secret) testing facility and stole a prototype ship. Because that’s far from something most pirates have the capacity, ability, knowledge, or opportunity to do. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m just saying that I’d like it defined more clearly. That’s all I got. Hop to it, skip to your loo, and ease on down the road.
