Name:Selun Vasara
Race: Near-Human (Sephi Father, Human Mother)
Age: 35
Birthplace:Chandrila
Allegiance: The Republic, Jedi Order
Status: Jedi Investigator
Rank: Jedi Knight, Consular
Height/Weight: 5'10'' / 152 lbs
Appearance:
Selun has a striking and at the same time fragile appearance. This is due to her mix ancestry, being the cross between a Human mother and a Sephi father. Selun has silvery white hair, with reddish-brown eyes, she is taller than the average human woman and her build is slim but alluring. Her skin is quite pale but to no sickly degree and it is not rare for her skin to get redder in hotter climates as she doesn't tan easily.
Another notable aspect of Selun is the absence of her right arm, when asked why she doesn't get a replacement she usually says because she doesn't feel like it.
On the clothing department, Selun falls into the not typical for Jedi Standards. However, when she is residing within the temple she does wear more standard Jedi clothing, brown robes and beige Jedi clothing. When working outside the Temple Selun instead dons a black trench-coat and black clothing, field boots and an utility belt with her Lightsaber. Normally it is acceptable but some of her peers on the Order tend to express some concern over her choice of informal clothing due to resembling the style of outfits her Exiled Master wears.
Personality:
Characteristically Selun is best described as friendly but polite, not really casual but not overly serious either. She is more of a thinker than a talker, she is also someone most people describe as insightful and quick minded. Her intelligence lies more on observational skills and experience than being particularly good in academics, still she is knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects due to her background in crime investigation and the acquaintances she has made over the years.
She is an experienced Jedi Knight, though her maturity and experience put her on par with most Masters, has the exploits to be compared to one but she has not attained the rank of Master for one peculiar and worrisome idea. Though the word obsessive might be too harsh to describe her actions, it is true that Selun is the type of person that doesn't like to leave loose ends behinds, she hasn't fully become deattached from her past. Normally being thorough is a trait the Order encourages, in her case it is a cause of concern. Selun has since her knighthood chased after her Master who left the Order. She has chased after her Master for more than a decade and continues to do so on her free time. Her reasoning is that he should be apprehended and receive a proper trial for his actions, however, deep within she wants closure to that part of her life and though she is not worried, some feel that her attitude on this matter will bring her more harm than good.
Regardless, Selun despite her flaw is a collected and productive Jedi. If not working or chasing leads after her Master, her time is spent in meditation digesting her experiences, learning. She is not a lover of technology partially due to her wishing to set apart her tastes from that of her former Master who was known for his love for it, and since to begin with she was never interested in it. Though tolerant of it, it is known that Selun tends to treat droids, ships and blasters with reservation and aloofness. Though it can't be called a pleasure Selun enjoys playing card games on a casual level, she enjoys games like Pazaak, Sabacc and Dejarik over drinks in crowded spaces like Cantinas.
Selun is highly insecure of herself when it comes to the prospect of taking an apprentice. Her failure to support her first Padawan took its tool on her. Also due to feeling she is not cut out for it and the feeling that she failed as a student in not understanding her Master and in fact betraying him. She has worked past her guilt but the scar of it is something that hasn't fully vanished from her. In the event she became the master to a Padawan, she'd probably be doting and protective of her student.

Biography:
Youthful Life
Selun Vesara was born in Chandrila, one of the core worlds of the Republic. Her was father Elin Vesara who was a Sephi Journalist living on the planet. while her mother was a political analyst. Selun was their first born daughter, and the discovery of her Force latency happened early in her childhood. At the age of one year she was given away to the Jedi Order, reluctantly as could guess but in the end both parents agreed to let go of their child so she could serve a greater purpose.
It was so that the baby was taken to Coruscant and to the Jedi Temple, where she would be raised in the nursery. Of her early memories there was none that remained within Selun. So like many younglings she was raised on the Jedi Temple and lived the Jedi life since she could crawl.
As a youngling Selun had no particularly distinguishable traits, she used to be a sleepy head but her behavior was nothing outstanding. She got along well enough with her fellow younglings, academically she was average, though her memory retention was good she didn't excel in any field.
Once she was old enough for actual Jedi training, it was quickly discovered that she had an affinity for the Force more pronounced than her fellow younglings. Though not potent, she had an ease for the lessons and naturally developed her force skills, she didn't struggle in any particular field either, even with her close affinity other younglings proved to be stronger in some aspects of the force. When it came to Lightsaber training and the Shii-Cho lessons she was less notable, other younglings excelled in it more than her.
When she was twelve, she entered the selections alongside her friends. It took several weeks but eventually one Master picked her, not because of any lightsaber demonstration she did or her Force affinity, but due to an interview. She met with a rather atypical looking Jedi Master, a Human in his mid thirties, to her he was fascinating due to the way he dressed, as he never wore Jedi Attires, carried a blaster and looked more like a spacer than a Jedi Master but he was also puzzling and in particular his not so subtle synthetic eye disturbed her. His name was Tai'Oh, he asked her and her fellow younglings a series of puzzling questions. His questions were either trick questions, or impossible to solve logical problems. Selun was the only one that noticed a pattern to his questions and realized that the questions were humorous in nature, when she returned his jokes he laughed and the next day he picked her as his Padawan learner. Though some Instructors complained his method was far too impartial, it was still allowed in the end.
The Padawan Growth
Training under Tai'Oh was not what Selun has expected. She quickly came to understand that her Master was not like the other Jedi Knights and that he to put it mildly was unorthodox. Her master was a Jedi Guardian but he was wise and experienced enough to properly educate in the ways of the force, despite being characterized by a habit of teasing people's sense of pride. She was Tai's second Pawadan. Tai'Oh's teachings were at first usually mental challenges before being actual lessons about how to use the force. He would often leave clues or hide hints on what coming lessons would be, leaving Selun to figure out how to prepare herself.
Selun's apprenticeship was off-world and their time was spent travelling between planets, though if there was a world they often stopped by was Yaga Minor, Selun at first thought it was because Tai liked observing the Drive Yards of the planet. Her Master was a Jedi Peacekeeper so he was often called to help defuse tricky situations or apprehend criminals. Though at first they didn't match each other, Selun grew particularly attached to her Master and quickly began to take similar views to his, sometimes even mimicking him (Something Tai discouraged). She and Tai also regularly met with Tai's previous Padawan (Now a Knight) a Weequay named Yennor who was a Sentinel and Investigator, she also got along well with him and often sought his advice when Tai's lessons were either overwhelming or outright puzzling.
Tai trained Selun in his preferred form of Lightsaber combat, Shien and Djem So. He was a good instructor but Selun showed no great progress when it came to advancing her dueling skills and when it came to Lightsaber instructions Tai'Oh mentality was always to put Selun in disadvantageous or hopeless situations, in simulations Selun counted that if she had been real situations she would have died at least 45 times. Her progress on the Force was more remarkable and though unorthodox Tai's methods and on the fly lessons about the Force helped Selun develop. He often took her to seedy locations, like drifters cantinas, had her gamble and learn to read or sense other's people feelings of the other players (often being outright toyed around by the more crafty gamblers), having her meditate in crowded spaces or personally trying to interrupt her.
From Tai she also learned about the force technique of Alter Damage and Blinding. She also learned how to pilot speeders, shuttles and small freighters from her Master and how to bypass security systems. Though she often drew the line when it came to learning about how Droids worked, she was never comfortable around them, despite Tai's obvious interest for them.
Around the age of Seventeen, Tai began to take Selun to the seedier and dirtier corners of the Galaxy. From him and from Tai's unusual acquaintances she learned how to move in the underground and how it usually operated. Tai also began having her take more active roles in their jobs, from acting as lure, tailing suspects and acting as backup during Raids. Selun also began to learn about criminology and investigation from her Master, Yennor and the various law enforcement officers they worked with over the years. She began learning Binary and Smuggler Cant at this point in her life as well.
Her observational skills grew sharper with time as well. Tai'Oh's lessons by then were characterized on allowing Selun to experiment and test things on her own, to learn from experience but more importantly to learn from failures. He wasn't careless and he did guide Selun from the temptations of the Dark Side but and this is something he was often criticized for, did not shelter Selun from seeing the pit falls of the Dark Side. It helped that Selun was not a particular prone to being emotional from the first place or had a rebellious phase. However, there was this one time that she had a Death-Stick (It was a horrible experience for her) without Tai's knowledge thanks to a bad friend she made, he did discover her afterwards and it was the only time Tai acted severe and strict toward her and it was a sour spot in their relationship, but eventually Tai'Oh chalked it out an experience that gave her insight.
Selun's construction of her own Lightsaber was something that happened in her late teens as well. Tai left her on her own, with the Lightsaber components but no crystals, he gave her enough money to travel on her own and the coordinate for various planets on a datapad. This was unbeknownst to her the first trial she would face, a trial of skill. She had only several conditions, not to rely on the Jedi's reputation, use whatever is available and enjoy the adventure.
She chose the planet Illum as her destination, the trip took her about two weeks. She was scammed out of her credits early on her journey, had to perform small services or work as an assistant on various ships and forced to take detours on her route, she however, realized a contradiction of Tai's conditions and though he said not to rely on the Jedi Reputation, he also said to use whatever was available, she then booked passage to Coruscant and from the Jedi Temple took a transport to Illum. She had to persuade her way into being allowed to take a ship on her own, but she later learned that Tai'Oh had foreseen her doing this and had beforehand negotiated with the Order and asked them to test and questioned her, that was the primarily reason she got to leave the Temple without supervision and on her own.
On the Temple of Illum she constructed her Lightsaber with the only guidance being holograms from her Master. It took her more than a month to finish after considerable trials and errors, it wasn't the prettiest Lightsaber but it was functional.
When she finished, Selun realized that she didn't have any further instructions. No way of communicating with her Master. She realized that her assignment was not only building her own Lightsaber but to make it back to him.
The Trial for Knighting
Selun stressed over what to do next. Then one day after her meditations while examining the Datapad her master gave her, she found that new file had appeared within the Datapad. They were further instructions, an option that was unlocked after a set period of time had passed.
The instructions were on how to reach out with the Force to others. She tried but found herself unable to reach Tai, then she tried Yennor who was in fact on the planet. He explained that Tai and the Order had instructed him to keep an eye of Selun during her journey and help her return to Tai's side. Alongside Yennor, Selun met his recently picked Padawan young Mon Calamari named Bhadba with whom she quickly became a friend and acted as a senior student to.
The trio traveled back to the inner cores and looked for various clues to Tai's whereabouts. Eventually after a month of searching they tracked him on Yaga Minor. Tai congratulated Selun for making it back to him. In the end they were separated for nearly three months and Selun for the first time felt incredibly attached to her Master, wishing they would never be apart again. A dangerous feeling Yennor and Tai became aware of.
After Yennor left with Bhadba. Tai taught Selun more properly how to fashion her Lightsaber, but congratulated her and told her that she had passed her first trial to ascend to knighthood. For learning of independence and self sufficiency as well as resourcefulness.
Her next trials wouldn't come to happen any time soon. Though after her trial of skill, Tai often allowed more freedom to Selun on how to approach assignments or situations. She distinguished herself in particular by personally arresting the ring leader of a extremist group in Sullustan. Though an achievement, Tai didn't recognized it as anything worthy of adding to her becoming a Knight. However, because Selun became more attached to her Master, she began paying closer attention to her Master. She began to notice suspicious things about her Master, like that their trips to Yaga Minor were more common despite them not doing much there and that her Master often wandered off without her and went missing for hours at a time.
On one such day at the age of twenty two, she decided to follow Tai. She shadowed him to a factory that produced ship components. At first she thought that her Master was there because of his interest in Spaceships or that he was developing something there, but then she saw her Master meet a woman and she instantly got a bad feeling about her.
There was nothing wrong at first, but Selun couldn't help and not like her. After an hour of waiting, she saw Tai leaving the building with the woman, they held hands with a child. Tai and the woman kissed as well as hugged. Then they went their separate ways.
Distressed and not knowing quite what to do. Selun ran away, she in a strange way felt betrayed. She didn't exactly love her Master in a romantic way, but she did love him like a father and respected him, looked up to him as a Jedi. So seeing him breaking the Jedi Code broke her heart, seeing him hiding something from her.
Eventually Selun sought the advice of Yennor who told her, he would look into it. When Selun returned to Tai the next day, he could tell something was wrong and though he probed Selun somewhat hid what she had learned, opting to use her other insecurities as cover to distract Tai.
Two weeks later, Yennor met them on Corellia. On one private moment, Yennor talked with Selun in private and with some regret gave the details of his investigation.
Yennor discovered several alarming things that put Tai on a questionable position. It seemed like he was in a relationship with the director of the company, a woman by the name of Minne who was the widow of the late Troyn Ayan. A man that was associated with a criminal syndicate and more alarmingly, Tai's younger brother. The child was not Tai's as later investigations would prove. But the fact remained that Tai had broken one of the rules of the Jedi Code. Yennor convinced Selun to aid him in making Tai'Oh confess and help him bring him, though distraught Selun agreed.
Selun, Yennor and Badbah confronted Tai'Oh. The ordeal was civil, there was no heated argument but a great deal of grief on everyone involved. Tai confessed to his affair and even with having done some jobs that benefited the criminal syndicate his brother was associated with, mainly arresting or removing rivals to that organization. When asked if he would surrender, Tai'Oh refused. He tried to negotiate with Yennor and Selun, even proposed that they joined him (Selun almost joined him, but Yennor reminded her of her duties). Then Tai'Oh resigned himself to escape.
However a duel issued. Tai'Oh a veteran duelist disabled Badbah first and used the opportunity to escape. Yennor chased him and Selun stayed behind with the incapacitated Badbah. But she was mentally torn and distressed over the situation, she was also angry. With herself but specially with Tai.
She chased after them.
Selun found Tai and Yennor locked in a vicious duel, acting on impulse she joined Yennor in attacking Tai'Oh. She was furious and her guard slipped, a slip up Tai'Oh didn't let slide. He cut Selun's right arm, thereby disabling his Padawan learner. Yennor continued to put a fight but he was gravely wounded in the end. Before losing consciousness, Tai'Oh lamented the situation to Selun, he called for an medical unit and vanished. His last words to her, were left with a tear.
"I Should've been more careful, my dear, you were to sharp this time and look where it led us. Shame, shame. I had hope to see you grow into a fine Knight, well this is my cue. See ya my pride. Hm, yes take care of Yennor he will take this outcome harder than he believes."
With that Tai'Oh left them.
To knighthood
After her recovery, Selun discovered that much had transpired. Yennor did not survive his wounds despite the treatment. However, before his passing he detailed Selun's courage and skill. He further stressed that Selun was to be knighted, if she did not fall to despair. She also found more information about Tai'Oh. After his escape from Corellia he was sighted in Yaga Minor, but disappeared and eluded capture of the Jedi sent after him. His lover was questioned and the company closed after finding clear ties with criminal groups. Tai'Oh was charged with the crimes of assisting a criminal ring, breaking the Jedi Code, murdering and wounding his fellow Jedi and of falling to the Dark Side (That was only charge Selun refused to acknowledge.)
Selun took Yennor's passing even worse, she took counseling with other Jedi. They testing if Selun was in danger of falling to the dark side as well as help her recuperate. Still it was agreed that the ordeal was to be treated as her trial of courage and flesh. When asked if she wanted a prosthetic arm to replace her missing arm, she refused.
Selun's trial of spirit happened nearing the end of that year. It was carried out under the supervision of several High Councilors in a meditation room. Together they mediated on her feelings, her goals and the burdens she now carried. Selun confronted her insecurities and though she struggled considerably, she made peace with herself and the fact that though her choice had been the wrong ones, she upheld the ideals of the Jedi.
By majority vote, it was decided that Selun was ready to be knighted. However, many did express concern for her and the general ruling was given that Selun should stay within the Jedi Temple for a time. Selun agreed.
Her first action as a knight was to talk to Badbah and though again many questioned her choice, she adamantly took him as her Padawan. Out of responsibility and concern. However, though she did her best, she could not treat the traumas Badnah received. The Padawan had lost his will to become a Jedi and after six months, he asked to be transferred to the Agricorps.
Unsteady Knighthood
Though once again left behind, Selun did not loose determination. Instead she came to the conclusion that Tai'Oh needed to be brought to justice. She made that her goal, her responsibility and though she wished to chase after him. She remained in the Temple, to distance herself from Tai'Oh she gave up Shien and Djem So, she dissembled her lightsaber and fashioned a new one. One that was suitable for form two. She studied the Force under other Masters and in particular she showed a great deal of development when it came to the telekinetic and protective appliances of the Force.
She also learned Force Valor to compensate for her weakened state. For the next two years, Selun's time was spent between understanding the mysteries of the Force, learning to dominate her left hand and training in Makashi. It was at the age of Twenty Four that Selun considered herself ready to venture outside the Temple once more.
Though she wished to follow after Tai'Oh's footsteps to become a Peacekeeper, she was aware that she would never be in a state that was useful for it and instead went on to work as a Jedi Investigator. She used her free time, her old Master's connections and some new ones to solve crimes, apprehend criminals and assist police forces around the inner core. She also investigated Tai'Oh and his past with more detail and found out more about his circumstances.
She discovered that sometime during his apprenticeship, he encountered his brother who was not Force Sensitive. How they knew they were brothers, she never figured out but they did and they got into trouble together. Tai covered for his brother and the two kept contact well into his Knighthood. Troyn also eventually became involved with criminal mafias and acted as an informant for Tai'Oh who used his brother information to apprehend many criminals. Troyn eventually married and with illegal funding opened his own industry for Spaceship design on Yaga Minor. Selun further discovered that when Troyn passed away, a few years before she became Tai'Oh's apprentice, that Tai and Troyn's wife Minne entered a relationship and informally Tai'Oh became the surrogate father for his nephew.
Tai'Oh was also forced into a situation where he had to work for the criminal associates of his Brother, though he did not get involved in illegal actions, he covered for them in cases and dealt with their enemies. This he did for protecting his secret history and for the sake of Minne and Troyn's child.
Selun used the information she acquired over two years to dismantle the crime syndicate that had flourished under her Master. It took three years but she succeeded in uprooting the organization from Yaga Minor. She also learned from the bosses that they had sheltered Tai'Oh for a time but he one day fled to the Outer Rims. They had hunted him and by contacting several Bounty Hunters, Selun learned that Tai'Oh had changed his identity several times. While working on other cases, Selun chased after her former Master.
Steady Knight
Selun matured quite a bit. Though she consciously tried to separate her behavior from that of her former Master, as she continued to work solving crimes she couldn't help but not be able to return fully to the Jedi mindset. She also continued conditioning her left hand as the dominant one and training Makashi under several instructors. During her late twenties she started studying Durese and Dosh. She also mastered Force Blinding at this stage of her life.
At least on two occasions on her knighthood she considered taking a Padawan learner, but though she found prospective students in the end she couldn't make up her mind or fully push away the doubts that plagued her. Her obsession over her Master also calmed downed over the year but she wasn't able to drop her on going chase of Tai'Oh.
At the age of Twenty Nine, she partnered up with a fellow Jedi Investigator by the name of Uleesh Rorr and between the two, followed up on a case of a string of murders with lightsabers on Bakura, the investigation eventually led to them discovering a Dark Jedi in hiding on the planet. Uleesh and Selun fought the Dark Jedi together and managed to incapacitate him and apprehended the Dark Force User.
Selun continued to work across the galaxy. Other more notable exploits of hers, was that she was also responsible for apprehending a Hutt and dismantling it's cartel. The Hutt in question was Nugga the Hutt who had set up a illegals weapon and droids trafficking ring on the Corulag, there she work together with the local authorities and some of her underground contacts to stop the cartel from expanding and eventually cornering and having enough influence to arrest Nugga. However, perhaps the biggest crisis in which Selun was involved was solving the murder of the Rodian Senator in the Republic Senate, which led her to expose a conspiracy that sought to ignite a civil war on the Rodian homeworld led by a rival to the current Grand Protector. While pursuing the major conspirators, she worked together with the Rodian Grand Protector and a Jedi Diplomat as well as the Jedi Watchman of the Sector to diffused the situation before it escalated, in the process rounding up the main perpetrators.
The Present Knight
At the age of Thirty One, Selun managed to track Tai'Oh who at the time was going by the name of Volen Tycho, but he eluded her before she could corner him and escaped for a second time. At this age she also reached the peak of what she could achieve in Makashi with her none dominant hand.
When the whispers of the Sith Order reached the Jedi. Selun was among the Jedi who did not join the Blades. But she continued working on the Outer Rims, yet her search for her renegade master was brought to a halt as the War began to escalate on the Outer Rims. She completely lost the trial of her former Master.
Though not directly involved in the War between the Republic and the Sith Empire, she did encounter a Sith who was attempting to disrupt trade agreements between the Republic and Commercial Sector, they dueled on the end. Unfortunately Selun was unable to defeat the Sith and both retreated after sustaining several wounds.
On the last few weeks Selun returned to the Temple and with the Jedi and the Blades reuniting as well as entering the war, between the Republic and the Empire. She has been taken jobs as escort for various ambassadors.
Roleplay Sample:
Selun put away her Electrobinoculars, with a tired sigh she moved away from the window. She turned toward her snoring companion who sat on round chair, crossed arms and with a blanket over his upper body. The man, a human in his late fifties seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
Still and rather unapologetically, Selun lightly kicked one of his feet. It was more of a nudge to stir him awake. After one brief snort the man woke up, he rubbed his eyes. "My shift then, mhrm..." He groaned and stood up.
"No activity yet."
With her one hand she passed the Electrobinoculars to the man. She made room for him to move to the window and proceeded to take his place on the chair. Also taking over the blanket and taking advantage of the warmth, while looking for a comfortable position to fall asleep. While she did so, and to nudge her companion to be more awake. "There's still some Caf left on the table." She heard her companion grunt and move around, after a loud sip and hearing a comment of it being cold. She heard the man speak again.
"Remind me again, why you dragged this old man into a surveillance run." She heard another sip.
"The superintendent is taking too long, at this rate the Leaders of the Hinna Ring are gonna slip out of the system, and set up somewhere else." Selun yawned again, then shifted her position again. "Can't do it alone, and your the only detective I trust here."
"Mhrm, flattery ain't getting you nowhere kid. Never got Ol'Tai anywhere either."
The comment was harmless but it did make Selun frown a bit. Yes the man she was working with was also an acquaintance she made during her apprenticeship under the now renegade Jedi Master Tai'Oh. "Well it worked this time, your here." Selun heard the man chuckled, then sip from the cold Caf.
"Can't be helped." The old detective muttered.
Selun began to drift asleep.
I wonder where you are now, in what corner of space are you causing trouble now..

Master...
