Force Sensitive Application
Name: Shag Bahietka-en Wahx'akox'a
Race: Human
Age: 12
Birthplace: Si'Klaata Cluster, aboard a ship
Allegiance: Republic
Status: Jedi Padawan
Rank: Jedi Padawan
Height/Weight: 4'8”/52 kg
Appearance:
A short and slender, yet muscular boy, Shag is of the kind that is not easily noticed in a crowd. Dark-skinned and with long, dark red hair reaching to his elbows (tough typically braided); he doesn't strike one as imposing or strong. His hair looks slightly unkempt as it hangs to frame the right side of his face, the braided ponytail full of loose hairs. He is freckled-faced with a small and oval head, possessing strikingly feminine traits; even to the point were he could be mistaken as one. A mole adorns his face beneath the lower lip on the left of his face and a scar cuts his skin beneath the right eye. Another scar goes across his nose-bridge and he has a nasty red bruise on his cheek; though both is covered with a plaster. Several other scars lines his back and his hands, white and strikingly noticeable against his skin. His eyes are monochromatic, the left a bright hazel and the right a greenish-blue, the latter hidden by his hair.
Shag always wears his Jedi robes unless specifically told not to and he always makes sure his clothes are clean and at least representable. The robes are darker in color than what is common, a personal preference of his as it makes him less noticeable (that's how he feels at least). His Padawan braid hangs from his left side and is quite long, to the point that it rests on his shoulder.
Personality: A mature and mellow boy despite his age, Shag is a silent and soft-spoken individual with many a wise and insightful word to say. Kind and caring toward any he meets, yet socially reserved and distant, he is not one to actively engage in any form of social event. While he displays a calm and collected frontier, he is burdened by insecurity and low self-esteem. Unsure of his worth and place in the world, he will not speak unless he feels that he is adequate enough to voice his thoughts or opinions. Disciplined and well-mannered, he speaks in a soft and polite tone, always referring to people by their given title or honorifics, even when asked not to.
Knowledgeable of many things and eloquent with words, though never actually showing anyone what he knows; Shag displays a somewhat shy nature, keeping to the back of rooms and trying his best to go unnoticed. At times, he seems almost fearful of attention, exhibiting a submissive behavior toward anyone who would look at him when he is attempting to stay unnoticed.
Shag is a boy who, while preferring calm and quiet, is also frightened by complete silence. There must always be some form of sound around him, even if it's just a whisper, and if there is none he will be very anxious, even scared. He is plagued by insomnia due to nightmares and at night he is often restless. Sound helps him calm down, even if it's just a little bit.
Perceptive and observant, he is a very intelligent boy who is quick to grasp new concepts and ideas. A quick learner in both practice and theory and a master at seeing things from many different angles, one could say he is an intellectual prodigy. Working diligently with every task given, barely resting until complete or satisfied with his work, Shag can be seen as stubborn in the sense that he doesn't give up on a set goal. However, his diligence quickly tires him out and that coupled with his insomnia, more often than not, causes him to extremely tired and at times, unfocused.
Not quick to anger, tough easily annoyed at what he perceives as naivety, Shag is not fond of kids, both younger and older than himself. As a boy who has traveled and seen many a thing throughout his short years in life, he finds that many children his age (even other Padawans) to be woefully naive of the Galaxy's cruelty, expressing annoyance at others dreams of seeing all there is. While he himself is just a child, his eyes and demeanor seems to be that of a grown man who has seen his fair share in life.
Shag has an extreme distrust of strangers and even acquaintances, cynical, skeptical and wary of everyone he meets (though still kind and well-mannered). He has a pessimistic view of others moral code and tend to think the worst of others until the opposite is proven. Gaining his trust is a long and strenuous job, and requires much patience as he is not one to easily let go of his pessimistic viewpoint, even if a good first impression is made.

Biography:
Pre-Temple life (0-6 years):
Born as a slave to a crew of outlaws on the ship known as Gambit, the bastard son of the crew's captain and human servant, Shag's life set out to be a difficult one. None of the crew cared much for his mother and her life, and she died in childbirth before giving him a name. Thus, the first few months of Shag's life was spent nameless, until the crew-members finally named him. It wasn't a nice nor proper name, just three Huttese words combined together to form the name he would come to be called. Shag Bahietka-en Wahx-akox-a, the Huttese words for Slave Servant Trash.
Of course, years would come to pass before Shag would gain the linguistic capabilities to understand the meaning of his name. Before then, he would be blissfully unaware of the cruelty of his name and the fate in store for him.
Shag's earliest memories is from when he was two years old. He was sitting in the ship's hangar bay, playing around with a screwdriver and observing the crew mechanic. The mechanic, a Corellian named Athos, was his caretaker and the only one who was remotely nice to him. Athos was fixing a droid and telling Shag all about how it worked, though young as he was, he understood nothing of what the man spoke of. Little did Shag know, that much of his life would be spent in the ship's hangar bay and pantry.
At the age of three, when he was old enough to walk and talk, he began his tutelage under Athos, learning all about mechanics and engineering. He quickly proved to be naturally talented and received praise from Athos, though the rest of the crew couldn't care less. Shag also served as a butler of sort, cleaning and serving the crew with both food and drink. It was around this time that he started to understand his predicament. He could speak almost fluent Huttese and some Smugglers cant (the languages the crew spoke), and he was fully aware of what his name meant. The knowledge was devastating to him and he became depressed upon learning of his rank as a slave. Previously, naive as he was, he had seen himself as a member of the crew despite the cruelty he was treated with, but his new-found knowledge shattered any dreams he might have had.
During his travels Shag learned many things. His linguistic skill increased and by the age of six he could speak fluent Huttese and Smugglers Cant, though he had yet to learn Galactic Standard Basic. By observing the other crew members shoot he learned how to use blasters. Athos also showed him how blasters worked and taught him how to use one, however Shag rarely did as he wasn't a fan of blasters. Shag also gained survival skills, both self-taught and learned from Athos. He learned more out of necessity as once they visited a planet, he was more or less on his own. He had to learn how to scavenge food as the crew-members didn't feed him (he also had to steal from the pantry) and know how to heal small cuts and bruises. Athos helped him with it and also taught him about engineering and mechanics. As an escape from the rough life that he lived, Shag would spend what little free-time he had drawing and writing. Over the years he became quite a talented drawer, though his handwriting could be better.
The Gambit traveled all over the galaxy, plundering, stealing and killing. The crew stole and sold their findings on the black-market, and also worked as mercenaries for hire, taking on any job should the pay be sufficient. The nomadic lifestyle resulted in Shag seeing much of the galaxy and meeting many, many people. Most of the people he met were crooks, bad people who committed bad acts, and upon continually meeting such people, Shag came to gain a pessimistic view of other people, especially strangers.
The crew, being crooks and generally bad people, had gained many an enemy throughout their travels, and they were hunted by several people. One time when Shag was four, the crew of the Gambit were on the run from a rival outlaw gang. They had sought refuge on the planet of Nar Shaddaa, hiding away in their secret warehouse at the docks. However, two of the dock workers who they had bribed to silence (they knew of their location), told the other outlaw crew of their location for a large sum of credits.
They were attacked at night and several of Shag's crew were killed. The remainder of the crew split up and hid in different locations at the docks. Shag hid behind a stack of crates and Athos, who was across the street from him, hid behind a dumpster. They were surrounded by the rival outlaw crew and had to be utterly silent. They couldn't even move an inch as that could make noise. Shag sat completely still, however, Athos, trying to sneak away, accidentally slipped, thus alerting the others of his presence. He was subsequently killed while Shag watched.
Shag stayed hidden until the other crew had left and then went to rendezvous with his own crew. He was traumatized by what happened and having lost the only person he truly cared about, he started to associate silence with danger and thus came to fear it.
With the death of Athos, Shag was now the only engineer on the ship and was subsequently given much more to do. There was next to no free time, but it didn't bother Shag much. He found that working kept his mind off of Athos and the night of his death, and it also made his absence easier to bear.
The Gambit continued it's travels and Shag continued to serve as a mechanic and butler. Little of note happened the following years after Athos' death, however that changed soon once Shag turned six.
One night, he dreamed that the crew's captain was killed by another crew member. The crew member was none other than the captain's 24 year old son Locke and, unbeknownst to Shag, his half-brother. Not thinking much of the dream, Shag forgot all about it, however it would come to haunt him for a long time.
The crew of the Gambit had been given a mission on Halm. They were supposed to steal and smuggle rare Adegan crystals from the mines there, and then sell them on the black-market. Everything went well and it didn't take long until the ship's cargo hold was loaded with crystals. Shag was fascinated by the crystals and found himself drawn to one in particular. It was a rare, yellow ponite crystal and for some reason, Shag wanted it for his own. He resisted the urge to steal it as he knew such would only result in punishment, however, the day before they left, the pull became too hard to resist and he sneaked out at night to steal it.
He made his way to a pile of Adegan crystals, found the one he wanted and was just about to leave when he heard voices. Shag followed the voices and found the captain and Locke talking together. They seemed to be arguing, though Shag couldn't hear what they were saying. Curious, he moved closer to be able to see and hear better. When within earshot, he heard Locke accusing his father of favoring Shag over him. Locke knew that Shag was his half-brother and as a man who had always had mental issues, had become disillusioned; believing his father would chose Shag as the successor to The Gambit.
Locke and the captain entered a heated argument, and in a fit of rage, Locke shot his father in the head thus killing him. Shag, shocked at what he had seen, tried to sneak away, but it was too late. Locke had already seen him.
