And he wore a kingly crown;
And in his grasp a sceptre shone;
On his brow this mark I saw —
‘I AM GOD, AND KING, AND LAW!’

(A face relatively similar to Garuda's.)
Garuda is an imposing individual, towering over others both literally and figuratively. Thick cords of muscle bulge and ripple underneath his leathery greyish-blue skin and at over seven feet tall he is able to overpower most opponents. He is broad of shoulder and these shoulders boast formidable spikes which continue down to his wrists, thick and cruel. Behind him billows a set of immense wings. Their skeletal frame is gnarled and of the same greyish-blue as his skin whilst the thin membrane that bridges each protrusion is of a brilliant white, pocked and broken by thin bones and the reddish rivulets of blood vessels. Dark scars mark his body and one stands out amongst them all, the memento of a crippling puncture wound to his left arm. It rarely causes him any trouble but has been known to leave him suffering and somewhat disabled from time to time.
His face is lean and angular; high cheekbones stab upwards from his chin and this motion is continued by his jagged brow and pointed ears. His nose is small and his jaw wide and prominent, two white fangs jutting from behind his dark lips. Above these his eyes are of a glowing white and their pupils are striking in the violence of their darkness. Like all Stenax, a dark ridge of shimmering bone arcs over his head - starting just above his eyes and finding its end at back of his neck. It is in this ridge that the species' Kleti gland is found which allows them to home in on objects from vast distances above the ground.
Garuda's attire takes some inspiration from the traditional battledress of his people. He wears a sleeveless tunic on his upper half as to ensure his arms and wings the widest arcs of movement possible. The tunic is of a dark fabric within which twists of red thread glimmer and it ends just above his knees. A thick leather belt secures the tunic to his person and at its back his lightsaber is strapped horizontally. At his hip hang some small pouches: one contains the ashes of his companion, Shamara; another a whetstone for his great-spear; and yet another a piece of flint and steel for firing corpses. The wide span of his feet leave little option in the footwear department and so he wears none, the thick claws that crest both his toes and fingers offering a threat to all that address him.
Personality:
Garuda Tarl believes himself to be the chosen of Vol, the Stenax's ancient warrior-god. He places his martial prowess, connection to the Dark Side, and vast swathes of his victories at the feet of this god. Thus Garuda can be incredibly cruel and overconfident in his actions, believing them to be divined by Vol himself. He is prepared to do anything and everything to ensure his foes are vanquished and Vol remains exalted. Conversely his unshakeable faith leads him to be somewhat sober in his victories and to dedicate his successes to his god's favour. It is for this reason that he carries a piece of flint and steel with which to light the corpse fires that follow every one of his forays into combat. His position as Vol's champion combined with his proclivity to assume his own superiority leaves him slow to submit to others or take orders, an unfortunate attribute for an acolyte.
Although he is a warring sort of fellow there is little Garuda enjoys more than excess. After the corpse fires have burnt themselves out he turns to the essential Stenax traditions of extensive feasting, bloody tournaments, and booty of all kinds. He does his best to carry on these traditions despite the confusion and differing practices of his allies. Upon suitably celebratory occasions, Garuda will break out his kisar (a Stenax stringed instrument similar to a lyre) and amuse his companions with epic retellings of their victories and Stenax folk tales. Although his poetry is somewhat crude, his tales of slaughter and debauchery do not often fail to entertain.
Garuda is remarkably loyal to his allies regardless of the closeness of his relationship but those he particularly favours are guaranteed a blade at their back should they ever need the assistance. He still carries the ashes of his beloved friend, Shamara, whose death he failed to prevent. He also strictly observes the Stenax codes of hospitality which govern the treatment of guests and friends; however this has not stopped him from bringing the full scope of his malevolence and affinity for torture to bear on any prisoner unfortunate enough to find themselves in his care.

Equipment:
Single-phase lightsaber incorporating a two foot hilt, balanced and altered to bear a greater similarity to the great-spears of Stenax warfare. Its end boasts a gnarled spike encrusted with small hooks and barbs. Its blade burns a deep crimson thanks to a synthetic crystal.
