Species Name:Waylorians
Species Type:
Planet of Origin:Kovath
Average Maximum age: 2000 years
Age of Maturation: 200 years
Average Height: 7' 5"
Average Weight: 120 pounds
Notable biological features:
Mistaking the Waylorians for humans is something anyone could be forgiven. Because they were human before they settled on Kovath about 12,000,000 years ago. They were always force sensitive, but everything else about their biology emerged on Kovath. After spending a generation on the planet, a virus swept through their population, leaving only a fraction of their population remaining. However, the survivors discovered that their biology of the virus had mutated their physiology, matching that of Kovath's ecosystem. Exploring their biology over several millennia allowed them to acquire an increased metabolism.
Consuming massive amounts of food they learned that they were no longer required more than one light meal every few days. Conversely, their once frail and weak bodies had been hardened because of the increased gravity that they had now become accustomed, though not resistant to lightsabers or other weapons just not as frail as humans. Falling from 30 foot building would not be fatal for them in less than their normal gravitational field, which mostly means less than Kovath. Granted, they would certainly be injured in a similar manner to everyone else in that type of situation, but they would still be able to fight or casually walk, though would be crippled until they received medical attention.
Responding to the change in their metabolism they began exploring the Notable terrains of their new home world more and more. Learning after a near death experience by one of their children in the upside down mountains of Bal'goteana. Plummeting down into one of the mountain ranges revealed that they had acquired three hearts.
Discovering all of the functions of their new psychology took time, and Kovath was not a forgiving world, alternating between volcanic acid and subzero temperatures. Existing still like they were human, before their technology could aid them in discovering the truth, it was an irradiated solar flare that revealed everything. Drowning in the one of their lakes in Rhi'hacnor one of their children would have died had had his lungs not been larger. Additionally, they have three lungs that allow them to breathe in environments toxic to humans. Carbon dioxide, mercury, arsenic. Simply put their lung can process much more than humans.
Acquiring three additional hearts was also a by product of their evolution. Allowing them to be put through much more physical stresses then their counterparts. Environments that would fatally wound most allow them to survive lethal atmospheres, heavier gravity, and solar flares by radiated suns. Their bodies have also been honed by spending generations living in heavier gravity, allowing much quicker reflexes than normal. Nothing otherworldly or faster than the humanoid eye can see, but their reflexes are noticeably faster. Speed comparable to the strength of a wookiee.
Being deceptively thin is also a response to their evolution. Possessing swimmer style arms and legs it would be embarrassing to be shorter than seven feet once they reach puberty, however, their height can be as small as a Jawa before they reach 200 years old. Some have been known to almost grow into full form overnight once they reach puberty. Rare instances can occur where puberty last about 300 years, but that is about as rare as them not being force sensitive. Because of their metabolism, no member of this species really gains weight.
Bringing together their full ensemble leads to their eyes. Evolving on Kovath has made usually their eyes alternate between either orange, violet, topaz, yellow, and blue. Blue is one of the more common colors of their eyes. When someone of this species reaches puberty, they lose the sclera part of the eye and the color of their eyes shifts, eclipsing every part of their eyes that came before. Skin color also possesses many different variations. Ranging anywhere from dark color spectrum to light colors, similar to human, but they can also come in more amphibian related colors like emerald green or sapphire blue.
Emerging from their evolution gave them the unique physical connection to the force. Although they can no longer reproduce naturally, they have acquired finite control of muscle memory. Responding to their evolution they can continually regenerate the cells in their bodies by storing that knowledge in muscle, genetic, memory. Accompanying this is the loss of personality and memories. Physical skills like swordsmanship, martial arts, languages, and instincts with technology are however retained.
Their biology forces them to undergo a regeneration every 100 years or so. Intense suffering or loss can induce the process. Force concealment occurs naturally in this species during a regeneration, altering it drastically so a new personality emerges. No physical change occurs, this is simply how this species has evolved to live so long. Due to their biology it is much easier for this species to conceal their connection to the force than it might be for others. Under the condition, of course, that they have undergone a regeneration.
Number of limbs and Type: two arms, two legs
Culture:
Enslavement has taught the Waylorians to value independence and the force above everything. Prompting them to mistrust most, if not the rest of the galaxy. Remaining in contact with the Jedi only because they feared another assault by the Sith. Beginning to trade archival records with the Jedi started a dialogue with the Jedi that remains until this day. Resulting was from their war with the Sith was also why they removed themselves all the known hyperspace routes. Expressing their separation from the galaxy that meant they exported their precious military grade metals to support their economy.
Eventually this mistrust of the galaxy led to the Waylorians valuing independence more than anything. Nearly ten thousand years after construction was completed on their overhauled sensor array, orbiting their planet. Feeling their autonomy and security from the rest of the galaxy they began honing their ability to use the force. Teaching their children force concealment from a young through the use of regeneration because their connection to the force went through so many changes. Refusing to let them out into the galaxy until they had mastered that particular skill.
Understanding that Waylorians are considered children until they reach puberty, 200 years old. Allowing them to choose to between staying on Kovath or exploring the galaxy. Waylorians are given about two hundred years outside in the galaxy before they make their final decision. Conversely, there are the first rites of citizenship before that time, around about five, that they are told about the Jedi. Offering them the chance to be sent out to the Republic, but with the caveat that they can never again return the their solar system. Most children are raised on stories of their enslavement so it is rare for this option to be chosen. However, the Waylorians are a pragmatic species.

Male Waylorian in full battle armor.
Because of their long life, they think in terms of millennia. Despite their loss of memories, in their reproductive process, they could still accomplish a great deal by becoming some of the best kept record keepers in the galaxy. Even the Jedi would request use of their archival system created by the counselors. When it comes to the counselors, they are a group of dedicated scientist.
Unlike the warrior and builder cast, they do not rely solely on the use of the force. Regardless, the force is a crucial component to their technology. Most, if not all, require some sort of force sensitivity to be operated. This cast is responsible for the design of any technologies that is used on the planet. They had set out to completely overhaul and replace the sensor arrays that exist surrounding the planet. The cloaked and self replicated minds were created by this cast after they discovered they were gifted programmers.
Returning to the builder cast, they are responsible for the construction and deployment of any technologies developed by the counselor cast. They were responsible for creating shipyards above the sensors array in their solar system. Building the ring around their planet was done their, with itself taking several thousand millennia. Eventually though their species began to stagnate their development. Wanting to return to the lives of farmers and agriculture because of the nature of their long lives were the builder cast.
The warrior and counselor cast was opposed to this change. Eventually their was civil war and the warrior cast launched a preemptive strike on the planet. The builder cast had foresaw this and created bunker to survive the calamity, though still 60% of them were still killed. Escaping the planet were only about a handful of survivors from either the warrior or religious cast. This exodus occurred around 3800 BBY. Some still exist out there in the galaxy, usually Jedi or Sith. They also can't reproduce away from their home world.
However, they learned they could not control the process of retaining muscle memory removed from their home world. Something about their planet allowed them to control their process, but now it can happen in either times of stress, or any period between the passage of thirty or eighty years. Forcing them to lose sight of their home world.
The builders reached a similar fate. Although a handful remain on their planet, operating the sensor arrays and their ring, they have forgotten there were once separate casts or the calamity because of their archives were destroyed in the war. Around this time their species' culture and history have been lost. The Waylorians that did not join the Republic as Jedi can normally be found on a massive generational ship constructed during the Sith invasion.
Becoming the only piece of technology that survived the great calamity. Most of the remaining builders actually live in the habaitat ring they created that surrounds their planet.

The Warrior Cast:
The Builder Cast:
The Counselor Cast
History:
Although they are long lived species, capable of living for millennia, they were not born with warrior instincts. In fact, 20,000 years ago, after the Sith invaded their planet, they were still farmers and innocent villagers. Certainly, they were some the best, albeit, reclusive farmers in the galaxy that were known for their long lives and hydroponic facilities. For thousands of years they evolved on this planet after settling on it 12,000,000 million years ago.
They excelled spectacularly, in the science of herbs in medicine they began renowned for their skills as healers with the force. However, they had not once thought of building weapons or defenses beyond a sensor array that could detect vessels from thousands of lightyears away. Accruing some missile defenses on those sensor arrays from time that they had possessed a vast military. Abandoning after they had discovered the force. Thinking that their sensor array would be enough to protect them they simply forgot how to defend themselves.
Part of the problem is their biology. Evolving in a way that allows them to regenerate their mind and store their personality and instincts in their muscle memory every 30 to 60 years has made them somewhat feeble minded. Strictly speaking, they are a race that needs to continually discover who they are again and again. Powerful in the force as they may be, that is the price they pay for it. They can control the process to rejuvenate their cells and live for thousands of years, but they lost the drive to so after several thousand years of peace. The process allows them to retain their instincts, but sacrifice their memories and personality. However, if they were to attempt a skill honed deceades, centuries, millennia, they would be able to pick right where they left off. However, the process is such that, someone entirely knew emerges.
Essentially, this is how they reproduce, though they can still have sexual relations with most lifeforms, however, interbreeding is impossible. Reasoning the attack on their world by the Sith because they were interested in learning that ability. This biological imperative has prevented them from more than a handful of their own species at any given time. They have long sense forgotten how to reproduce. However, they were cloners once who used female host as incubators to create for them new bodies, when they wanted to transfer part of their memories into a new identity.
The process is so grueling and grotesque that that transferred memories evolve into completely new person, but as previously said, that process has long since faded from memory. When the Sith finally invaded their solar system in the year 20,000 BBY, there were only about a few thousand of them remaining. Because they had not yet learned to use the force for more than healing, most of their race were killed. The few remaining were enslaved and sent mine a substance, Wadamite, that was perfect military grade metal to build ships.
Enslaved for a few thousand millennia had taught the one peaceful farmers that they needed more than medicine to survive. Although they had always exported their metals to various cultures, like the Hutts, in the outer the rim they had never learned how process it into building ships, but they learned quickly. The Sith had forced them to, eventually, become freedom fighters and terrorist in order to force them to abandon their planet and solar system. Most Waylorians learned how to wield a sword and basic force techniques. In point of fact, this is the event that birthed their military.
Although it took centuries, they drove the Sith away from their people. However, the price they paid for it was their innocence that would ultimately lead to their destruction. Their world began to divide in the wake of this terrible war. There were three cast that were created out of this tragedy. The warrior cast, the builder cast, counselor cast. The warrior cast grew out of a necessity to never be invaded again. So, left unchecked, they began requesting that counselors develop warships and orbital defense networks that resulted in the manmade ring surrounding their planet. They even constructed battle armor should the Sith ever return.
