Alrighty! This here is the hub thread for the revitalized and new Duel Tournament series. From here, you'll find rankings updated as the duels progress, the general fight rules, and any other little miscellaneous details that will help tie all this together.
Starting off, the structure of the overall tourney will be as follows:
Three fights will take place in the opening round; each fight will be five rounds and scored with the same system to ensure uniformity, and will each be held in the same area, as the three victors and the highest-scoring defeated fighter advancing to the next round. This gets around requiring a bye, but it also ensures that each fight is full-on; losing in points doesn't necessarily mean elimination.
The second round will have two fights to determine the Finals, but from here, the rules change slightly. The fights are eight rounds long, will feature bonus points at random intervals for equally random criteria. Keeps the fighters on their toes, much like a standard fare duel, with the two winners advancing on.
The third and final round will be ten rounds, likewise featuring bonus point intervals. The longer structure of the fight means that story elements will also needed to be expanded upon; where are they fighting, why, and what is the overall aim of your character? These factors are important, and will also be judged alongside the standard stuff.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The Competitors, as it stands, are:
1: Vina, played by Jounin
2: Jaidan "Snowflake" Shatani, played by Dreadpiratemike
3: Fal Tolvus, played by Harukei
4: Vesperia, played by Dire Wolf
5: Ari Weyland + Din, played by Meira
6: Lancy, played by Ash
Random Number Generation will determine the opening rounds, and with that, the first fights are as follows:
5 v 6
1 v 3
2 v 4
------------------------------------------------------------
General fight rules are:
The usual fare: godmoding, etc will be frowned upon and reflected in your score. Keep the writing coherent and fluid; if it's illegible, your score will reflect that just the same. Equally, over-injuring your character in an attempt to score points will also be a factor that may hurt you in the long run, as we'll be judging realism; a character with a severed hand and bleeding profusely will not continue fighting for hours.
With that in mind, character death or defeat in the duel does not mean LOSS. Points are how the victor is determined; your character could be slain in battle and you as a writer win the bout. Whilst that means there's a possibility for point-seeking, we'd rather see an awesome and fluid duel written out from both competitors, rather than purposeful score-gathering. Write a cool fight, that's what we want. ;p
Inactivity is a possible factor, too, and this will also come into play. Tournies are not slack, after all ,and need to move on. Unless you can make it known there's a problem, the time away will be taken note of; a post every three days would be preferred. Miss that once, you'll get a points deduction; twice without notice will lead to a forfeiture of the round.
